I'm actually a very slow writer and the previous chapters were written in my notebook before I even learned about Fim, so I just had to re-write them on the computer.
The Broken Friendship
Sweetie Belle lay awake in her purple bed, still tucked in her warm pink blanket even though it was already daytime, cuddling Mittens (After the Crusaders' visit to Sugarcube corner, the Crusaders felt it best for Sweetie Belle to keep Mittens since Rarity already had her cat, Opal.) She was smiling as she thought about the fun she had at Sugarcube corner with her friends the day before.
"Hey Pinkie!" Scootaloo said to Pinkie Pie as the Crusaders, plus Button walked into Sugarcube corner. "Hi girls and not a girl." Pinkie Pie replied as her usual joyful self. "What would you like to order?" She asked.
Apple Bloom was the first to reply. "Well, Ah would like a-" Pinkie Pie interrupted. "Let me guess." Pinkie Pie said as she grabbed a list to check off the orders.
"Strawberry milkshake for Apple Bloom,"
"Ya read my mind." Apple Bloom said.
"Chocolate for Scootaloo,"
"Yum yum yum!" Scootaloo said.
"Vanilla for Sweetie Belle,"
"Always." Sweetie Belle said.
"And an I don't know for a pony I don't know." Pinkie Pie finished in a catchy rhythm. Pause. Pinkie Pie gasped dramatically. "WAIT! A pony I don't know!" She screamed like the world was ending as she looked at Button. Pinkie Pie took out another checklist.
"Bu-but that's IMPOSSIBLE! I throw a party for EVERYPONY who's new to ponyvil! And I never forget the old ones either! So the only explanation is" Pinkie gasped. "I didn't throw you a party yet!" Pinkie looked suspiciously at Button, who just blinked. "Which meeeeaaaaans." She said slowly. "I have to throw you a party NOW!" She said happily and was about to run out for some supplies when Apple Bloom grabbed her.
"Ah think Buttons alright with no party. Right Button." Apple Bloom asked Button, who nodded. Scootaloo took a breath of relief. "Good because I'm soooooo thirsty!" Scootaloo said.
Pinkie Pie looked at Button. "Ooooookaaaaaaay." She said slowly. She slowly walked backwards out of Sugarcube corner. The Crusaders, plus Button, looked at the doorway.
"But you still deserve a greeting from me!" Said Pinkie Pie, who somehow teleported behind the cashier's place. The Crusaders (And you know who) turned to Pinkie Pie, who right away grabbed Button and started crazily shaking his hoof.
"So I'm Pinkie Pie, you are?" She asked after she finished shaking Button's hoof. "I'm Button Mash." Button answered while he tended to his arm. (He wasn't used to normal ponies shaking his hoof, much less Pinkie Pie ponies)
Pinkie Pie grabbed a paper, wrote down everything she knew about Button (Not that much), took out a camera from her mane, took a picture of Button, stuck it on to the paper (Without any glue because she's Pinkie Pie), and finally asked Button what he wanted to order.
"How about a chocolate milkshake." He answered. Pinkie Pie jotted down his order.
"Okay! Your orders will arrive once everypony sits down." Pinkie Pie said as she walked into the cashier area.
The Crusaders went to the closest table, took a seat and sure enough, Pinkie Pie teleported there right away with their orders. "Here ya go!" She said happily as she placed down their orders. Button, who wasn't used to ponies who could teleport, stared at Pinkie Pie as she sank out of his view behind the table edge and rose into his view behind the cashiers' area.
"How did she do that?" Button asked. Scootaloo stopped her drinking and shrugged. "Nopony really knows. All of Ponyvil just accepts that Pinkie's just being Pinkie." Scootaloo answered. She continued to drink her milkshake. I guess that makes sense Button thought to himself. He was looking at his milkshake when an idea came to him. he grabbed his milkshake, brought it closer to him, and said super fast.
"MILKSHAKE RACE!123GO!" And started drinking his milkshake really fast, making a loud slurping noise. The Crusaders, who weren't used to ponies like Button, stared at Button when suddenly...
"BRAIN FREEZE!" Button screamed and he fell to the floor screaming. "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!"
"WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"
Sweetie Belle stopped her daydreaming. She quickly galloped out of her room and down the stairs, into the living room where she found her sister, Rarity, who was a Purple maned mare with a shiny white coat and beautiful sapphire blue eyes. She was usually the most beautiful mare in all of ponyvil. Usually. Not when she was sobbing on her special drama velvet couch with her make-up all smudged.
Sweetie Belle was shocked to see her sister Rarity in this state. Many different thoughts zoomed through her head about what might off happened. She dropped her ribbon! No, she wants more ice cream! No! Come on Sweetie! She probably ate hay fries last night and is a single gram heavier than before!
Sweetie Belle smiled slightly. Her sister was such a drama queen sometimes. Sweetie Belle walked up to Rarity. "What's wrong?" She asked her big sister. "It-it's ju-just that" Rarity answered between sobs. Sweetie Belle waited patiently for some silly answer but earned none because she earned a-
"HE BROKE UP WITH ME-HE_HE_HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" Rarity cried and she buried her face into her velvet pillow.
-Confusing and sad one.
"Who broke up with you?" Sweetie Belle asked over Rarity's sobbing. "HIM" Rarity cried. "THE PE-PERFECT STALLION! MY PR-PRINCE!" Rarity started sobbing into her pillow again. Sweetie Belle stared at her sister, shocked and guilty. She was especially guilty because she thought that Rarity was just being a drama queen when she was actually really heartbroken.
Sweetie Belle walked up to Rarity and was about to pat her older sister on the back when Rarity suddenly sat up with a very angry face. Sweetie Belle backed away.
"But you'd think he would have better manners, right? I mean he is a prince!" Rarity said angrily. Okay, what the hay is going on Sweetie Belle thought, as she watched her sister go on with her ranting.
"It's not my fault he doesn't have a clue about which spoon to use for soup!" Rarity said indignantly. "So why am I weeping?" She asked herself. "It's he who should be sad that he doesn't have a beautiful marefriend!" She barked at nopony in particular. "And it's his fault he doesn't even have proper manners and never will! The nerve of him to cry in front of me and whine that it's" Rarity scrunched up her face like she was crying. "Too haaaaaaaaard!" She said in a fake whining tone.
Um Sweetie Belle thought as she backed away from her sister. Maybe I should leave. Sweetie Belle slowly turned away from her sister. But wait Sweetie Belle stopped. aren't I forgetting something?
Sweetie Belle paused for a moment. Hmm, maybe it's just my mind playing tricks on me. Sweetie Belle shook away the thought of forgetting anything and slowly walked away until she exited the house, then she galloped.
Sweetie Belle was galloping really fast towards school (She usually walks but since she spent her morning daydreaming and watching her sister Rarity like a Television she was a bit late) when she saw her friend Scootaloo on her Scooter.
"Scootaloo! A little help please!" Sweetie Belle yelled to her friend. Scootaloo stopped and turned to look at Sweetie Belle. Scootaloo smiled. "Sure!" Scootaloo said. Sweetie Belle took a breath of relief and got into the little wagon that was attached to Scootaloo's scooter by the wagon's handle.
"Thanks, Scootaloo." Sweetie Belle said as Scootaloo started pushing on the ground to make the scooter roll. "I don't know how much longer I could've galloped before I broke."
"S'all right Sweets!" Scootaloo replied, keeping her head straight (Following Rainbow Dash's lessons) So she wouldn't crash or take a wrong turn.
The two friends were zooming towards the school when Scootaloo felt a tingling sensation on her muzzle. The same feeling you had when you had to sneeze, which of course, meant trouble.
"Ahahaaaaa" Scootaloo made the sound of needing to sneeze. Sweetie Belle's eyes went wide.
"No-no-no-no Scootaloo! Hold it, hold it!" Sweetie Belle said desperately.
"Ahahaaaaa" And Scootaloo couldn't hold it anymore. "AACHOOOOOOOO!" Scootaloo sneezed, making her loose her grip on the scooter's handles and the scooter hit a pretty big rock, sending Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle flying through the air.
"AAAAAAAAHoooof!" Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo screamed, followed by a thud when they hit the ground.
"Sorry, Sweetie." Scootaloo said apologetically as she rubbed her flank. "I don't know why I got all sneezy."
"It's ok Scoot, we should just focus on getting to school." Sweetie Belle said as she touched the bruise on her back with a slight cringe. "We don't want to b-" Sweetie Belle stopped and looked at her back. Why was there a bump on her back and not a saddlebag?
Sweetie Belle thought back to before when she left the house and hit her forehead.
"So that's what I was forgetting!" Sweetie Belle exclaimed. "My saddle bag for ponies sake!" Sweetie Belle looked back in the direction from which she came from. "Well, maybe I could head back quickly an-"
Ding-dong-ding-dong
Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo stared at each other for a few seconds before quickly getting up and galloped as fast as they could towards the school, not even bothering to take a look at Scootaloo's scooter.
The Schoolhouse was getting closer and closer when
Bang!
Sweetie Belle had just crashed into another foal.
Sweetie Belle got up. The crash made her fall backward. Sweetie Belle looked to see who she had just hit. Sweetie Belle gasped. She had just hit the one colt they were trying to make friends with.
"Are you all right, Sweets?" Scootaloo asked Sweetie Belle. Sweetie Belle nodded and Scootaloo let out a breath of relief, but then looked at Button., who groaned and got up.
"I'm so sorry!" Sweetie Belle cried out. "It was an accident! We were running late to school and I didn't see you there!" Button looked at his dirt-stained blue saddle bag for a second, then to a little cut on his leg and started whimpering a little.
"It-it's alright Sweetie Belle." He said, holding back his tears.
"Really?" Sweetie Belle asked, while Scootaloo, on the other hand, had a different reaction.
Scootaloo was staring at a figure coming towards them with a look of horror. "It's good that your okay, Button, but right now we have other things to worry about."
Sweetie Belle and Button looked up to where Scootaloo was staring and saw Mrs.Cherilee. Sweetie Belle was in panic mode but had no idea what to do.
Ms. Cherilee arrived in front of the three foals. She looked at dirt-stained Button, (you'd think his brown coat would've hidden it) Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle. "Button, you may head to class, your cuts aren't too major and we can clean you off later. I just want to speak with these two." Ms. Cherilee said, shooting disapproving glares towards the two fillies.
Button nodded and started walking away with a slight limp, too scared of his teacher to do anything else.
Ms. Cherilee refocused her attention to Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle.
"We're sorry, Ms. Cherilee." Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo said in sync.
"I'll accept any punishment you think worthy, Ms.Cherilee." Sweetie Belle said, defeated. Ms.Cherilee gave a confused look to Sweetie Belle, but then understood and smiled warmly towards Sweetie Belle.
"No, it's alright, Sweetie, I know you want to defend your friend, but this was her doing and she has to pay the price."
Sweetie Belle sighed. "Yeah, I guess that is a good punishme-" Sweetie Belle stopped. "Wait, WHAT!" Sweetie Belle said, confused. "Scootaloo gets punished?"
Scootaloo tilted her head in confusion. "Why do I punished?" She asked.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk. I'm sorry Scootaloo, I know you don't want to be punished but denying what you've done won't help." Ms.Cherilee said disapprovingly. "Now come on girls, we don't want the students waiting any longer than they have to."
Ms.Cherilee started towards the schoolhouse, but Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle didn't follow. Scootaloo knew this was unfair and was about to say something... bad. Thankfully Sweetie Belle had a plan to defend Scootaloo. But then again, having Sweetie Belle defend you with a plan she made herself, could be a punishment in its own way...
"But Ms.Cherilee," Sweetie Belle said. Ms. Cherilee turned back to look at Sweetie Belle. "How did you know Scootaloo hit Button?"
Scootaloo stared at her friend with rage because she thought that Sweetie Belle was giving her away to their teacher even though she didn't do anything while Ms. Cherilee smiled slightly.
"Good job telling the truth Sweetie." Ms. Cherilee said. "Well, I saw you and Scootaloo galloping towards school when I was out searching for you two when I saw Scootaloo gallop into the poor colt." Sweetie Belle smiled at this short story. The first step of her plan was going smoothly. The only problem was, she didn't have a second step.
Sweetie Belle started panicking. She looked towards Scootaloo, who still wore the look of anger and got even more panicky. Sweetie Belle had no idea what to say, so she said the first (And worst in this case) thing to say.
"Oh, okay."
...
Sweetie Belle just realized what she had said, but it was too late. Scootaloo's face was holding fire.
"Well, let's head to class, and maybe I'll figure out your punishment, Scootaloo, then." Ms. Cherilee said and she headed towards the schoolhouse, followed by an angry and slightly guilty Sweetie Belle and a rageful Scootaloo.
"How dare you!" Scootaloo whispered to Sweetie Belle in an angry tone.
"I'm sorry!" Sweetie Belle replied, guilty.
"Yeah right you-you idiot!" Scootaloo spat back.
Sweetie Belle was hurt and angry now. "Your the one who can't defend yourself!" Sweetie Belle raged.
And the argument went on until the trio entered the classroom. The whole class immediately went silent and stared at Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo as they walked into their normal seats but then started talking again except for Button, who was secretly playing video games, and Apple Bloom.
"What happened, Scoot?" Apple Bloom asked Scootaloo in a worried tone.
"Go ask Sweetie Belle!" Scootaloo said angrily.
Apple Bloom was extremely worried. What could've happened to her friends? Apple Bloom really wanted to know so she turned toward Sweetie Belle and asked her the same question as she did to Scootaloo.
"Ask Scootaloo!" Was Sweetie Belle's answer.
"Ugh!" Apple Bloom groaned when a thought came to her. Well Button was late too! Maybe he knows what's going on Apple Bloom looked towards the back of the classroom to where Button was sitting and was about to get up when she heard a voice.
"Okay, class! It's learning time!" Ms. Cherilee said. Apple Bloom returned to her old position, filled with worries.
