A Glimmer Of Hope

Starlight looked back at her memories and sighed, she had a secret, only Trixie knows this but she has always had a crush on a certain some pony or dragon in this case, it was Spike.

Spike was almost always there for her even at her worst he never got mad at her. Oh how she loved him, but fate played a cruel twist with her, he already was in love with Rarity, when she found this out she was heartbroken but was supportive of his choice.

And here she was towering over the dragon in his sleep, Trixie suggested that confessing to him while he was sleeping might help her for some odd reason but regardless she didn’t have much of a choice and chose to confess.

“Hey buddy it’s me Starlight, this is a little weird what with you sleeping and all but I feel like I should tell you something. Spike I’m in love with you, in the way you love Rarity I know shock huh.” Starlight told the sleeping dragon.

“I don’t know how it happened but after you told me that you thought of me as a friend I kinda fell for you, and ever since then I felt a lot more safe around you.” Starlight told Spike with some calm happiness.

“You don’t know how much I wanted you to be mine, I would always be there for you and make you feel loved but I know you have a thing for Rarity and chances are she probably feels the same way about you. I hate it I hate knowing you don’t love me but from what Twilight that if you love something set it free and well I know that you’ll never love me but just knowing you’re still my friend is enough.” Starlight continued.

Starlight then walked out of Spike’s room feeling a bit empty inside but she felt a bit better but then she bumped into something and when she looked up she saw a scheming smirk staring down at her, she knew who this was.

“Discord, what are you doing here? It’s the middle of the night.” Starlight asked in a hushed angry tone.

“Oh yes how silly of me, I should be sleeping but is being Spike’s room where we sleep now?” Discord said obnoxiously.

“Did you hear-“ Starlight began asking shocked before Discord snapped his fingers and teleported him and Starlight to his Chaos Realm.

“Oh Glim Glam I know about your so deep confession to Spike although it’s not much of a confession if said dragon is sleeping.” Discord said knowingly.

“Oh great I suppose you’re going to rat me out to Spike aren’t you?” Starlight angrily groaned walking away from Discord.

“Oh Starlight I would not dare tell Spike besides I haven’t done so all these years.” Discord dramatically stated stopping Starlight in her tracks.

“You knew, for years?!” Starlight asked angrily walking up to Discord.

“Oh it was so obvious.” Discord said with a smirk on his face.

“How did you know?” Starlight asked with shock

“Well let’s take a look at some memories shall we.” Discord said in a scheming tone.

Discord then teleported him and Starlight to a couch and he spawned a book out of thin air with memories on it.

“Here is you blushing when he put your faces so close together, here is your dragon toothbrush which is clearly resembling Spike, here is you pretending that toothbrush is Spike so you can-“ Discord said pointing at each memory before Starlight closes the book in fright.

“Wait how did you get these memories?” Starlight asked sweating in fear.

“Magic has many perks Starlight, it lets me see your memories, and oh what fun memories they are.” Discord exclaimed in excitement.

“Ugh, can you just stop? You have nothing to gain from this.” Starlight lectured annoyed at Discord for wasting her time began to walk away.

Discord then blocked Starlight’s path with bricks and turned her head so she would face him “Oh but I do, you see Starlight I came to help you with your problems. One of them is you rely on others and never on yourself, you feel as though following Trixie’s stupid advice is going to help you move on, well it will not make you move on. In fact all it does was give you some momentary release before you regain your sad and empty feelings.” Discord chastised.

Starlight began thinking, she does rely on others a lot, and she always felt the need to follow others’ advice.

“So my advice is that you should rely on yourself sometimes, think about what you think is best, but for now Starlight I think it’s best you just follow my advice and let it go, and get over your little crush and accept that you won’t be able to have Spike, and he loves some pony else.” Discord continued while swimming in a pool of fruit punch.

“Yeah I’m trying to do that Discord.” Starlight reminded Discord a bit annoyed.

“No you’re letting Spike fall in love with another mare but you’re not putting any effort to get over him.” Discord argued getting out of the pool wrapping a towel around his waist.

Starlight began thinking again, Discord was right, she may be letting Spike go on to flirt with Rarity but she wasn’t trying to get over him.

“I’m not saying you should stop loving him, seeing as that would be hard to do, you can still love him but I’m just saying please just try to get over the fact you can’t have him for your own good.” Discord said drinking an iced tea.

Discord then snapped his fingers and Starlight was sent back to her room and she went back to her bed and went to sleep in thought of what Discord told her.

In the next morning Starlight was at Trixie’s hanging out at her caravan.

“So how did my advice work out?” Trixie asked happily sipping her hay juice.

“Well it was pretty eventful but I learned that I need to accept that Spike isn’t gonna be mine and as much as I love him I need to accept he won’t be mine.” Starlight told Trixie happily.

“You got all that just by talking to him in his sleep?” Trixie asked a bit confused.

“You could say that.” Starlight said looking at the sky.
