Twilight 'Sci-Twi' Sparkle's Room: 6:30 am, Dawn

"Twiiiiiily....Twiiiiiiily....wakey, wakey sparkles, we need to have a little chat"

Twilight grumbled in her sleep trying to remain in her dreamland, she didn't want to 'chat' with 'her' right now. She had enough on her mind as it was! The last thing she needed was the ethereal, magical manifestation of her past guilt and hubris bothering her before the Sun even hit its peak. However the ghostly voice persisted, her voice low and haunting yet somehow sweet and alluring. It only made it stranger that it was her own voice and she knew that she wouldn't let up until she answered and so with a sigh she 'awakened' but not entirely; a side effect of her magic and growing magical power was that she could enter this sort of nexus space in her mind where she could communicate with what was effectively her alter ego. She was about the same height as Twilight but still dressed in that witch like villainous garb, her eyes were a piercing blue and her smile was smug yet playful.

"Mornin' Twily, why the grumpy face?"

"It's barely morning time Midnight, what do you want?" Twilight answered grumpily

Midnight Sparkle huffed and put her hands on her hips. "How rude, here I come to ask what's on your mind and to practice those 'friendship lessons' I've seen you do before and you greet me with the cold shoulder? Mean much?"

Midnight Sparkle was everything Twilight had kept hidden within herself. Her ambition, her instable lust for knowledge, her lust in general. She was a bunch of her repressed emotions all balled into one and given magical form by the combined magic energy of her six friends and this wouldn't be the first time they'd had little interactions like this, in fact this was basically routine now. Twilight pouted and huffed just the same as Midnight crossing her arms.

"Hmph you just wanna take the time to tease me like you always do, besides you exist in my mind. You know full well what's on my mind as a result."

Midnight wagged her finger. "Ah, ah, ah, we had a deal remember? You feed me magic knowledge, I stay in my little corner of your mind and keep quiet and learn. So I've been keeping well out of your business, I'm bored and wanna know what's up. So spill, read that gossip and discussing your feelings is common among friends." Midnight said genuinely sounding like she wanted to help Twilight.

Twilight would give her a wary look but once she could tell she truly meant no real harm she sighed and loosened up a bit. "Fine...I'm gonna be graduating next week...I'll officially be a licensed mechanical and bioengineer with great friends and an even better girlfriend..."

Midnight would magically conjure up a version of her bedroom, Midnight's 'room' looking like a more punk goth version of Twilight's room. Midnight would lay atop her bed clung to Twilight's every word. "Go on, I'm listening"

Twilight paid her alter ego's antics no mind and allowed herself to vent. "I've come so far from being the shy little introverted geek who's only friend was her dog and her former babysitter. I have some of the...no...the best friends in the entire universe-"

Midnight giggled and retorted. "Quite literally"

Twilight giggled in tandem. "Yeah, I have a loving family in Shining, Cadence, little Flurry and Spike. I have so much in life and know I can and should expect more but..."

Midnight would analyze her speak patterns, facial expressions and the words she used. She could tell that Twilight was feeling conflicted and as her magic alter ego she could also sense her emotions and the strongest one right now? Self doubt.

"You're afraid that if you get too much you'll lose control eh?"

Twilight hated to admit it but Midnight could read her like she often read books, easily. She would nod in response and blushed, hanging her head she sighed.

"I'm not sure I'm ready. I want to make Sunset happy, she deserves it after everything she's put herself through to make herself better and make me better. I want the best for her but what if...what if I'm not enough?"

Midnight could sense that this was weighing heavily on Twilight and the young woman was in distress over this mental conflict however she could tell that at the core of all this was mere the desire to show that her love and resolve were absolute. Midnight would smile, placing a hand atop Twilight's and she would look her right in the eyes.

"Twilight you listen to me because no one else will be able to tell you this but me, don't be afraid of what it is you want. The steps towards it will be scary, and you may be scared to take that leap of faith into the unknown-"

"M-May be scared?! I'm terrified! What if everything goes wrong? What if I fail? I-I don't wanna lose Sunset...I love her"

Midnight would smile, tightening her grip on Twilight's hand. "You won't because that little pony would sooner die than leave your side and you know it. She was willing to toss her memories away just so we could have a chance at friendship, she was willing to throw herself into a magical death match just for a chance to save you, understand this Twilight Sparkle, Sunset Shimmer loves you. The question now is? Do you know how to show that love back? If you want some better advice, ask your in house cupid. Oh speaking of which, I hear a baby crying~"

The dreamland's metaphorical spell was broken as the light of dawn broken through her window and the sounds of a little Flurry Heart crying hit her ears. Using her magic to lift her glasses from the bedframe to her face she blinked the dots out and rubbed her eyes placing her glasses on and she would drag herself out of bed yawning. As she shuffled across her room and put on her slippers she saw Spike still asleep curled up in his little bed.

"Tch, lucky."

Twilight grumbled as she shuffled out of the room and into the hallway. One would think attending college would mean she would live on campus but Twilight wanted to be close to home so she could tutor, work and be close to her friends so she opted for online courses. This being the case she often was awoken by Flurry's very, VERY loud crying early in the morning and part of routine was simply showing her face to calm the little one as she simply adored Twilight and would always cease crying in her presence. Shining had been working super hard lately as had Cadence being the new school dean for CPA, so Twilight often would lend her hand to help with Flurry.

The room that was once Shining Armor's had been converted into Flurry's new room and it was here that the now 2 year old was weeping and calling for someone, namely Twilight. For what reason? Twilight had to surmise either a dirty diaper, hungry, thirsty or all of the above. As she entered the room, the crying got louder only as she got closer but when she poked her head into the crib, Flurry would instantly cease her screaming and it would pipe down to mere whimpers and soon nothing as Twilight scooped her out of her crib.

"Shhhh, shhhh, it's okay Princess, what's the matter? Boom-Boom?" Twilight asked feeling her bottom and her diaper was in fact saggy and since it was early in the morning it was also likely that Flurry was hungry. A sigh escaped her lips but she smiled nonetheless and carried Flurry over to the makeshift nursery that Fluttershy and Applejack helped her build for Flurry before she was born as a special project. She smiled fondly at those memories, making all of this for the incoming bundle of joy. Even though Flurry was her niece, she treated her like a daughter and maybe that was part of why Flurry was so attached to Twilight. She had very motherly energy so it made a lot of sense and more than once did Cadence bring this up to her.

Setting Flurry down she would use her levitation magic to swiftly remove her soggy diaper and with a quick motion of her hand she wiped, sanitized and powdered the baby's bottom and then just as quickly slipped a fresh diaper on her. One of the many advantages to magic was that it made labor like this quick and easy, plus whenever she used her magic on Flurry she would giggle and Twilight adored the baby's laugh.

"There we go princess, all nice and clean. Num-Num's?" Twilight asked the infant as she scooped her into her arms using her magic with a smile on her face. Flurry would respond by clapping her little hands and that was a sign to her that she was in fact hungry. Holding her in her arms she would take her downstairs would sat her in her high chair so she could get her food.

"Wait right there princess, auntie Twily is gonna get you some nummies and make everyone their coffee."

"Well while you do that, I'll make pancakes." said a familiar motherly voice that was the voice of Twilight Velvet, her mother.

"Morning mom. You're up early." Twilight said as she rummaged through the cupboard for Flurry's baby food and a clean sippy cup.

"Heh I'm reminded of when you were a baby and I'd have to wake up this early when you were hungry, heheh Flurry is so much like you. She even shares your favorite baby food. Peaches and strawberry in cream, it tastes better when you make it naturally you know" Said Twilight Velvet with a clear nagging mom undertone to her voice as she shuffled into the kitchen dressed in her pink robe and had her hair down.

Twilight blushed as she still quite enjoyed that combo even in her adult age albeit in a much more mature and flavored context. Even now as an adult her mother knew her so well, certainly not the best, no that title belonged to Spike, Cadence, Midnight and now Sunset. Her mother Velvet, while a darling and the best mother a girl could ask for; was a bit of a boomer and out of touch with how things were in this day and age and so she'd for example often nag Twilight about using her magic to prepare Flurry's meals or change her diapers.

"Must you nag me this early in the morning?" The younger Twilight replied with a pout as she prepared Flurry's baby mix as well as her bottle which had a cute little pony on it.

"I'm still your mother. All the PHD's, magical powers and books will never change that dear. So yes, I must. If you ever hope to properly handle your own babies one day sweetie you have to make sure they know their mothers touch, physically, not just magically."

Twilight knitted her brow a bit, she had a feeling her mother was hinting at something. "I mean. I suppose but...I don't think I'm ready for-"

"Bullshit"

"Mom!?"

"Pardon sweetie but it's true. I want you to look me right in the eyes and tell me that you, Twilight Starburst Sparkle-"

"Must you use my full name? It's embarrassing!" Twilight whined, she was always embarrassed by her middle name. Sunset said it was cute though.

"Yes, now I want you to look me in the eyes and tell me that you legitimately think you aren't ready for children or to start a family. Now keep in mind, I want you to remember just how far you've come and I want you to take into account the fact that you've basically been taking care of a baby since you were 12."

Twilight Sparkle would do as her mother asked, taking a few precious moments to think about what she just said and as much as she hated to admit it; as usual, mother knew best. Thinking back on her life and how she'd blossomed from an introverted geek with no friends but her dog to a full blown well respected scientist with a group of the best friends the universe could have gifted any single person in one lifetime. She remembered all the trials and tribulations that brought her to where she was now and then she remembered something she once heard Sunset say to her when they were cuddling together back when they first truly became a couple.

Twilight had asked Sunset what was her ambition now that she had redeemed herself. Sunset's reply at first seemed so childish and naïve but after thinking about it in the context in which Sunset explained it? She realized that it was what she wanted too, and that was to simply live happily ever after. Twilight at one point in life thought that didn't exist, that happily ever after's were delegated to nothing but fairytales but after she met Sunset? Experienced magic, seen a magical world where happily ever after is as real as it is in the books if you try? She knew what she wanted but that tiny little part of her that was still that introverted geek was afraid. Afraid of the future and what it would bring and afraid that she would mess everything up.

Twilight gnawed at her bottom lip unsure what to say and that was all the answer her mother needed to ask her next question.

"Twilight, you love Sunset, right?"

Twilight's eyes snapped open from her daze at the first mention of Sunset's name. "Of course I do."

Twilight Velvet's face took on a more leveled but still stern motherly appearance. "For better and for worse?"

Twilight nodded and blushed. "Y-Yes."

Twilight Velvet raised her brow a bit. "And what are you willing to do to make her happy?"

Twilight placed a hand to her chest, feeling her heart hammering she spoke her mind to her mother, knowing there would be no judgement. "I'd give her the world and all its stars and the sun & moon if I could. I want nothing more than to always see her smile, to hear her laugh, to feel her embrace, to be her shining light when she's sad or angry...I...I want to ma-mmphf"

Twilight Velvet would reach her hand forward and pinch Twilight's lips having heard enough. A small tear rolled down the woman's cheek as she smiled fondly at her daughter; she was ready, she just needed a little help. Like mother , like daughter.

"That's all a mother needed to hear. Go and wake up Cadence and Shiny, I'll start on breakfast, and when you see Cadence ask her for 'it' she'll know when you say it." Velvet said with a cheeky smirk that Twilight knew all too well.

"Yes mom" Twilight said as she went and gave Flurry a quick kiss on the forehead and went to go and get Cadence, the little one instantly starting to whine as Twilight walked away but she piped down when her Granny Velvet came to her with her bottle and mash.

Headed upstairs, Twilight made her way to the old guest room that had been converted into Shining and Cadence's bedroom, upon getting to the door she raised her hand to knock and was hoping that Cadence was 'decent' this time. Last time she answered the door after getting freshly pounded by her brother and that was a visual she didn't ever need again. Though admittedly Cadence looks fabulous in her afterglow.

'Oooooh my' Midnight Sparkle teased from within her mind.

'Shut up!' Twilight retorted back in her own mind. Knocking on the door lightly but hard enough to make impact she waited for a moment. Soon after the door opened and Cadence emerged, yawning and rubbing her tired eyes, she smiled at Twilight and brushed some of her hair aside.

"Morning Twily, Flurry up I assume?"

"Yeah um...I need to ask you something real quick."

Cadence sighed and rubbed the back of her head. "Yes, okay, we will try and keep it down Twi I'm sorry. You know how I can get after Shiny is away on work for awhile."

Twilight sputtered and stammered. "W-What? No I mean um thanks but no that isn't it."

Cadence raised a brow. "Oh? Then what is it then?"

Twilight twiddled her thumbs and blushed looking to her sister in law. "Um...mom said for me to ask you for 'it'."

Cadence's eyes sparked to life and her smile brightened up her entire face before quickly becoming serious and she called out to Velvet. "VEL! IS SHE SERIOUS ABOUT IT?!"

Velvet would shout back. "YES! SHE'S READY! GIVE IT TO HER BEFORE SHE GETS COLD FEET!"

Twilight Sparkle was very confused but as Cadence went back into her room more giddy than kid Twilight with a new chemistry set she could only fathom what she was going to come back with. She remembered back when she first was intimate with Sunset how she was encouraged by Cadence and her advise always helped, though sometimes she could go a little overboard. Last time she took Twilight 'toy shopping' because the young sparkle wanted to keep things spicy with Sunset between the sheets. However this time the vibe was completely different.

'Oooooh kinky!' Midnight teased again giggling like a schoolgirl in Twilight's head.

'Uuuuugh I hate you!' Twilight mentally retorted.

'D'awww I wuv you too Twi!' Midnight taunted back.

As Cadence returned, looking past her she could see her brother, smiling proudly at her from his spot on the bed as he read his morning comic book. It was a knowing look, a look of pride that only a big brother could give but Twilight was unsure what he was proud of her for. Last time he smiled at her like that was when she and Sunset got together. Cadence would hold out a small black box to Twilight, taking the box Twilight popped it open and it was then it all clicked, she knew what they wanted her to do.

Twilight's face exploded with a pink blush as she felt the weight of it all, so much meaning all behind one single piece of jewelry. She wasn't entirely sure she was ready for this but then again no one ever knows when they are ready, its all just a leap of faith. One that Twilight Sparkle was ready, willing and able to make, all she needed was a little push.

"W-Will you help me practice?" Twilight asked sheepishly and bashfully to Cadence.

Cadence smirked and hugged Twilight into her busty pink chest. "I'd legitimately be insulted if you didn't ask! We can do some practice runs after breakfast. I don't know about you but I am famished. Your big brother certainly lives up to his title."

Twilight blushed even more and whined. "Cady! Gross!"

Cadence giggled and patted Twilight on the head. "You say that now but just wait till you have Sunny and your own baby."

At that moment Cadence could hear Flurry crying again and that was her cue to turn on mommy mode.

"Oop, speaking of which. Mommy time. Hold on Princess, mama's coming!" Cadence said, her playful nature still ever present even as she got into her motherly role which was second nature to her at this point, she'd been taking care of Twilight since she was 3 so it was no surprise that she married her big brother and had his baby.

Twilight let her go on and she stood there, stunned as she looked at the tiny black box in her hand and the ring that sat inside it. She knew what she had to do, she knew she wanted to do it but she wanted to do it on her own terms, she wanted this to be their moment and even though she knew Cadence would tell her to 'just let it happen naturally' Twilight often liked to have some semblance of control and she was already playing out in her head how to give Sunset her ideal happily ever after.

Twilight would give a determined look and her grip on the box would tighten. "I'm ready to take the leap, I just hope Sunset is too."

'I've got your back Twi' Midnight said encouragingly

Twilight smiled fondly and looked out the window to see the Sun rising to greet a brand new day. A chapter of her life's book was able to end, a new one was about to begin and she couldn't wait to see the story unfold.
