The following story takes place in the Equestria at War universe. It contains mild spoilers for the County of Longsword. It was also written for the Fourth Annual Equestria at War Writing Contest.

Leonas had always considered Longsword his home. Growing up in Swordsson, he had come to appreciate the unique culture that had developed there as a result of being sandwiched between the River Ponies to the east and the Griffonian Herzlanders to the west.

Not being one for politics, he had kept to himself when the atrocities of Count Pallas Dusktalon had brought the country into civil war. The bloodbath was long and brutal, though eventually the socialist partisans had "liberated" Longsword from the cruel grip of Dusktalon.

In a twist of fate, that same bloodbath had brought Leonas and his beloved together. Despite the hardships and unstable conditions that followed in Longsword, they had managed to start a family.

Now a new organization threatens to usurp their lives. The government has been overthrown yet again, this time by a much more extreme faction led by a visionary who calls himself the Vadeiva.

One radical policy has been enacted after another, each threatening the sanctity of Leonas' family. When the very place he calls home starts to feel like anything but, is there anything a simple griffon can do?
