Hanging Out

Rainbow Dash was flying around with the wind in her mane. She was just so happy, and why should she not be? Today the WonderBolts were performing in Cloudsdale, and she got front row seats and backseat passes. All she needed to do was go get Fluttershy, and she would be having the time of her life.

Rainbow Dash touched down at Fluttershy’s cottage, she could she Fluttershy’s shadow through the closed curtain, and she was darting around. Hmm, what seems to be going on in there, Rainbow Dash thought. She knocked on Fluttershy’s door. At first, no one answered, but a few seconds later, Angel opened the door.

“Oh, hey Angel. Is Fluttershy ready?” Rainbow Dash asked. Angel didn’t say anything. He just gave her an annoyed look. Fluttershy then walked over.

“Oh, sorry about that Rainbow.” she said. The yellow Pegasus went back to packing her suitcase, and Angel curled up into his bed.

“What crawled up his butt?” Dash asked.

“Hmm? Oh, you woke Angel from his nap.” Rainbow Dash entered the cottage and shut the door. Fluttershy turned to Rainbow Dash. “So, what brings you her…” her eyes widen. “Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry, but I can’t go with you to see the Wonderbolts.”

“Why not? You know that we had this planned months in advance.” Rainbow shouted.

“Oh, but, Dash, my mother is deathly ill and I must go see her. Please don’t be mad at me. I didn’t do this on purpose.” Fluttershy was nearly in tears. Oh, crap, I feel like such a jerk, Dash thought.

“No, no” she said, wrapping her hoof around her friend, “it’s fine, I can just get someone else to join me. Oh, I know, Applejack will love it. Yeah, you go see your Mother.” The yellow Pegasus hugged her friend and grabbed her suit case.

“Thank you. I will make sure to you repay you when I return. I promise.” she said, running out the door. Rainbow lowed her head a bit. I can only hope that somepony is available, she thought.

The blue Pegasus rushed over to Applejack’s farm, just in case she was about to leave. She saw Applejack running and she flew down to get besides her.

“Hey, Applejack, where are you going?” she shouted. Applejack was spooked and she tripped over her own hooves. “Hehe, sorry about that.” She flew down and helped Applejack to her hooves.

“No harm, but why the shouting?” Applejack asked.

“Oh,” she said, scratching the back of her head, “I was wondering if you would like to see the Wonderbolts with me?”

“Thanks for the offer, but my cousin, Braeburn, from Appaloosa has been begging to see me again.”

“Oohh, but can’t you see him later?”

“And drown in all the letters he is sending? No way, no how.” she said. It was at this moment that Derpy, the mail pony, flew down to Applejack and Rainbow Dash.

“Another delivery for Miss Applejack.” Derpy took off her mail bag, and made a little mountain of letters on Applejack.

“Opps, my bad.” Derpy said. The blue Pegasus skimmed through the envelopes and noticed that there were all from Braeburn. “My, Applejack, you have been a popular mare lately. Well, back to the Post Office to drop off more of your mail.” She then flew away with her mail bag. Applejack popped out of the mountain of letters.

“See what I mean? Well, got to go.” She jumped out of the letters and ran toward the train station. Well, maybe Twilight can go.

The Pegasus pony knocked on Twilight’s door. Spike opened it up.

“Hey, Rainbow Dash, what brings you here?” The pony walked through the door and Spike closed it.

“Umm, is Twilight here?”

“Oh, yeah, she is up in her room, but--”

“--K, thanks.” She zoomed away.

“But don’t disturb her,” he sighed, “typical Dash.”

Twilight Sparkle was using her unicorn magic to manipulate  a quill and a checklist.

“Hmm, let’s see, is this all I need? Or am I missing something?” she said. Her concentration was broken when her blue Pegasus friend crashed into her.

“Hmm, now where is Twilight? I swore I saw her a minute ago.” Dash sat down trying to figure out what happened to Twilight. However, unknown to Dash, she was sitting on top of Twilight’s back.

“Ugh, Twilight need to get a new chair, this one is way too uncomfortable…oh…hehe…opps.” Rainbow blushed and helped Twilight up.

“Rainbow, what’s going on?”

“Oh, you see, Twilight, I’m trying to look for somepony to come see the Wonderbolts perform today, and I’m kinda in a rush. Can you join me?” She said, giving an adorable pout.

“Oh, I’m sorry, but Princess Cadance wants me to organize an event for her best friend, Prince Noble.”

“Oh, come on! You know those big fancy events don’t happen for months. You got time.” she said. Twilight used her magic to re-organize all the quills and all the parchment that were on the fall.

“Yes, that’s true, but I’m leaving tomorrow to Canterlot so I can might my parents, my brother, and help Cadance. I would at least like to get some of it done before I leave tomorrow. I’m really sorry, but you are just going to have to find some other pony to go with you.”  Rainbow Dash lowed her head a bit.

“Okay, fine.” Why does everypony have to be busy when I need them?

Rainbow flew out of Twilight’s house and she headed toward Sugercube corner. She knocked on the door and waited until Pinkie Pie opened it up. “Pinkie, please tell me you aren’t doing anything today.”

“Okay, I’m not doing anything today.” Dash brushed the sweat off of her brow.

“Thank goodness. Okay, let’s go. The Wonderbolts are waiting.”

“But, I can’t, I have to watch Pound Cake and Pumpkin Cake.” Rainbow Dash floated down with her arms crossed and an annoyed countenance.

“I thought you said you didn’t have anything to do today.”

“Duh, that’s because you told me to say that.” Dash face hoofed.

“Pinkie, when I said that, I was hoping that you weren’t doing anything. I didn’t mean for you to repeat what I said.”

“Well, that’s just confusing. How was I suppose to know you meant that?” she said.

“Never mind, can’t you just bring them with you?”

“No, I certainly can not. There might be zombies, or dragons, or Zombie Dragons!” The blue Pegasus face hoofed herself, again.

“Pinkie, Cloudsdale has none of those.”

“Yeah, but I’m responsible for them, so I say no.”

“Ugh, fine.” she said. She flapped her wings and headed toward her last friend, Rarity.

Rarity was sewing together some fabric for a client of hers, and humming to herself. This dress is coming along nicely, and I should be finished in a few days. Plenty of time to have my client wear her dress, and do any adjustments on it before she has to wear it. There was a knock at her door. Now who could that be?

She opened her door, and her bell rang. At her door was Rainbow Dash.

“Nice to see you, Rainbow. What brings you here today?” she said. She looked over her friend, but she seemed to be a little depressed.

“Oh, hi, Rarity,” she peeped her head inside and saw the fabrics Rarity was working on, “Oh, I guess you are busy. Well, see you later.” She was about to leave, but her friend stopped her.

“No, no, no. It’s fine, come right on in. I will just put that away and I will be right with you.” The white unicorn used her magic to tidy up. In just a matter of seconds, her tools, the fabric, and her glasses with put away, and the place was spotless. “Rainbow, follow me into the kitchen.” They walked into the kitchen, and the Unicorn used her magic to float tea bags, milk, and tea cups over. Both the Pegasus and the Unicorn took a seat.

“Umm, Rarity, I don’t like tea. Do you have something else?” she said.

“Sorry, Rainbow, but that’s all I have at the moment.” she said, floating the tea cup back over to the sink and filling it with water. “Rainbow, you never did answer my question from earlier, but why are you here?”

“Oh,” she said, playing with her tea cup, “I was just going to ask if you wanted to join me to see the Wonderbolts perform at Cloudsdale.”

“Sorry, but I have to work on a dress for an important client.” she said. Dash signed.

“That’s fine.” she said, getting up and leaving.

“Rainbow, if you don‘t mind me asking, but do you have anypony going with you?” Rarity asked.

“No, I don’t.”

“Well, you should have said something sooner. I will go with you.” Dash ran over and hugged her.

“Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you.”

“So, dear, when does the Wonderbolts show start?”

“I guess in less than an hour.”

“Oh, hmm, that soon? I don’t have enough time to take a bath and pick out an outfit. I guess I can go as I am, but maybe I can put some flowers in my mane.”

“Come on.” The blue Pegasus said, trying to pick up the white Unicorn and fly to Cloudsdale.

“Put me down, I am a lady and I can walk.” she said, Rainbow Dash stopped trying to pick her up.

“Ugh, fine.” she said. Rarity used her unicorn magic, and a glow formed around her for a few seconds.

“Twilight, taught me the cloud walking spell shortly after the Best Young Fliers Competition.”

“Okay, are you ready?”

“Yes, but we will take the balloon up.”

“But that will take a forever.”

“No, come along, you will see that it isn’t that slow.”

Rainbow Dash was already at Cloudsdale well before Rarity even made it up there using the balloon. Dash paced until the balloon finally reached the clouds.

“Took you long enough.”

“Dear, it isn’t slow, only slow to you.”

“Just, come on, it’s about to start.”
