The Abyss War
Equestria year .956 in the Canterlot Library. Twilight walks through it with Spike in the history section, stopping in front of some books as her horn glows and a book that says “The Abyss War.” Floats from its shelf and opens in front of her and Spike. “What is that Twilight?” Spike says with a curious look. “It’s one of Equestria’s darkest wars in history, I’ve always been curious about it cause Princess Celestia would never tell me about it and Princess Luna didn’t want to speak about it either.” Twilight says.
“Then how did you find out about it?” Spike says. “A lot of digging and research Spike, I think even the librarians don’t know this book is here, it’s very old.” Twilight says. “Oh, so what is the Abyss War?” Spike says with a uncertain expression of if he really wants to know or not. “The Abyss War year .245.” Twilight says as everything slowly fades away into a very dark version of Equestria, brown dead looking grass, a black and gray cloud filled sky, and black buildings as black furred ponies with red eyes and black and red manes march onto boats.
Black Furred ponies dressed like generals waiting for them on the boats. As a black and red version of Princess Celestia and Princess Luna dressed in armor get on their own boat with their personally assigned soldiers. Once the boats are full, they are untied and take off to sea. “Equestria is several hundred miles from Equine! It will take us several days to reach it! In that time we will deal with storms! Heat! Hunger! Thirst! Being with each other in close quarters! And of course bodily odor!” The general says looking at all the soldiers on his boat.
“You will endure! You will eat sparingly! You will not fight with anyone on this boat! Or you will be executed! Do I make myself clear!” The general says. “Sir yes sir!” The soldiers say in unison. Several days later Equestria comes into view in the horizon. “Unicorns!” The generals on each boat say. Unicorns on each boat make their horns glow, the boats being enveloped in a magic bubble that cloaks them. “Equestria isn’t expecting this attack, so move fast but quietly, be shadows.” The general says.
The soldiers nod. One soldier raises her hoof. “What is it?” The general says. “We’ve been at war with Equestria for countless years, how do you know they are not expecting something like this?” The soldier says. “We don’t that’s why the Princesses have come with us, they shield us from losing to many troops if they are waiting for us as our troops get back on their boats to retreat.” The general says. “I see.” The soldier says.
The general faces toward the Equestria coast line. “Will it be death that’s waiting for us, that’s what you are wondering.” The general says. The soldier looks down at her own hooves. “Yes sir.” The soldier says softly. “Then you shouldn’t have joined the army.” The general says. The soldier continues to look at her own hooves silently. After an hour the boats reach the coast. The generals scan the tree line and listen silently.
After a few minutes they look back at the unicorns on their boats and the unicorns lower the cloaking magic. The generals and soldiers get out of their boats as the Princesses exit their own with their own personally assigned soldiers. “We’ll go for the outer smaller villages first to establish a foothold.” A general says. The soldiers nod. The black and red Princess Celestia walks in front of all her soldiers and generals, facing them.
“This invasion will be different from past ones! Our scientist have a great new invention for all of you!” She says with a grin. The scientists hand each soldier and general neck armor then faces them all. “The metal this armor is made of was found naturally created in the ground and naturally magically induced, we couldn’t find anything that was able to pierce it, we call it Abyss Armor” A scientist says. “How is armor that just goes around our necks supposed to help us?” A general says.
“It has magic in it, how you activate the magic you simply need to think about wearing a suit of armor.” The scientist says. The general and soldiers put the armor around their necks and do as the scientist instructed. The armor suddenly extends till everything but their tails, manes, ears, and eyes are covered in armor. “Whoa this is awesome! Even my wings are covered in armor but can still flap!” A soldier says. “With this Equestria will finally fall.” Black and Red Princess Luna says walking up beside black and Red Celestia.
“However we do not want them to find out about us to quickly, we don’t want to give them time to try to come up with something so be discreet.” Black and Red Celestia says. The generals and soldiers nod. “You may begin.” Black and Red Luna says. “Move out!” The Generals all say in unison. “Sir yes sir!” The soldiers say in unison and they all take off into the forest. Black and red Princess Celestia looks up at the sky.
“The sun is going down.” She says. Her and black and red Princess Luna grin as they walk into the forest with their soldiers. Everything slowly fades back to showing Twilight and Spike at present day in the library. “The Abyss Ponies began their invasion, silently but mercilessly, sparing not even children.” Twilight reads. “That’s awful…” Spike says. “Some ponies tried to protect themselves but by the time
they saw the glowing red iris of an Abyss soldier it was already too late, small village after small village fell as Equestria lost more and more land to its enemy.” Twilight reads.
“Twilight I don’t like this story.” Spike says. “It’s history Spike.” Twilight says. “I know but..I don’t like it.” Spike says. “That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t know it.” Twilight says. “Ok Twilight.” Spike says. “Over half of Equestria was already taken by the time Princess Celestia and Princess Luna finally received word about the invasion, a desperate scramble of soldiers was sent out, but their weapons could not pierce the Abyss Armor, very few returned to tell the princesses this information before collapsing to the ground…” Twilight reads and gulps. “….No longer breathing.” Twilight reads.
“Are you ok Twilight?” Spike says. “I’m…fine Spike.” Twilight says. “If you say so Twilight.” Spike says just before it slowly fades from them and shows Princess Celestia and Princess Luna looking at the collapsed and dead soldiers in front of them, tears running down their infuriated faces as their horns glow with anger trembling the whole castle. “We have to do something sister.” Luna says. “Our scientists are working as fast as they can.” Celestia says.
“There must be more we can do! Ponies are dying!” Luna screams. “I know!” Celestia screams looking at Luna. “I don’t want more to die either but if there was more we could do, we’d be doing it already sister.” Celestia says. Over in a village not far from Ponyville. A earth pony father has sharp sword like armor stabbed through his neck by an Abyss Pony’s wing armor. The Abyss Pony slowly pulls the armor out and the earth pony’s body slumps to the ground.
“Daddyyyyy!!!” a light blue, pink eyed, white maned and tailed filly screams while in the hooves of her mother. Tears going down both of their faces. “Please spare our daughter, I beg of you.” The mother begs her voice cracking. “We don’t take prisoners.” A general says walking toward them. Meanwhile in the lab that’s below Canterlot Castle. A scientist puts black, sharp, sword like armor on a pair of black wings.
“We don’t have the luxury to test run this armor yet I’m afraid so Luna be with you.” The scientist says just before the pony they put the armor on rushes off. “Celestia’s speed.” Another scientist says. “All of you back to work we have to mass produce those!” The lead scientist says. “Right!” The scientists say in unison and get back to work. Tears run down the mother’s face as her legs tremble, black blood covered armor sticking out the back of her chest. She grits her teeth and gulps. “Yo…You need to run!!!” She
screams. “Mommy…” The little filly says and closes her eyes tight. “I won’t leave you or daddy!!!” She screams. “Please…” The mother says in barely a whisper as the light of life in her eyes fades out. The general pulls his armor out and her body slumps to the ground. “What a waste of breathe.” The general says and walks toward the filly. Black Hooves come down in front of the Filly from over her. She looks up at the black figure over her. The general stops walking. “And who are you? Cause you look like one of us
yet I’ve never seen you before.” The general says. The black figure walks forward till the filly is behind him then stops. The filly looks at his black and red mane and tail and the sharp black armor on his wings. The black figure’s red eyes look at the general. “By order of my Princess, Princess Luna I’m going to kill every last one of you.” The black figure says. “Princess..Luna.” The filly says out of confusion. “You’re Princess Luna is arrogant thinking one black Alicorn is enough to take us.” The general says. Ryka’s wings
unfold lifting up into the air as his hooves start to tilt forward. “Kill him!” The general says. The armored abyss pony soldiers behind him charge Ryka. Ryka’s wings come down fast as his hooves push him forward at the same time shooting him forward making him disappear from sight. The abyss pony soldiers stop in place looking around. “Impossible he can’t be that fast.” The general says. Ryka appears in front of the general. He jumps back. “What’s wrong general you seem scared.” Ryka says with a blank face.
“Hmph I don’t find your stupid intimidation tactics funny.” The general says. The abyss ponies charge at Ryka from behind him. “Intimidation wasn’t my goal.” Ryka says and quickly bucks an abyss pony soldier behind him sending them flying onto their back on the ground. Ryka’s armor clashes with the wings of two other abyss soldiers. “Hold him!” 2 others say as they come at Ryka from in front and behind him. The abyss pony soldier that Ryka bucked gets up and looks at the filly that’s a few feet away. “If I grab
her I bet Mr Hero will stop dead in his tracks.” He says and runs towards the filly. Ryka makes his armor turn a bit before pushing on the two abyss pony’s armored wings slicing right through them. Making them both scream out of pain. “That’s impossible.” The general says. Ryka using his wings back flips over the abyss pony approaching behind him and bucks him into the one that was approaching from in front of him. The little filly screams from noticing the abyss pony soldier running toward her. Ryka lifts his
wings as his hooves tilt forward. “A pony that looks like us.” The general says as Ryka shoots forward disappearing from sight. “Cares about others and moves like a shadow.” The general says as Ryka appears in front of the filly facing the abyss soldier that’s running toward her. “I guess the rumors are true after all.” The general says. The Abyss pony soldier stops in his tracks. “Shit.” He says. The filly looks at Ryka. “Please sir..Mommy and daddy need help.” She says her voice cracking as she held back tears to
speak. “Don't worry.” Ryka says his irises glowing red as he charges the abyss pony soldier. “Wait! I won’t touch her I promise!” The abyss pony soldier screams just as Ryka’s armor decapitates him and his body slumps to the ground. Ryka faces the general. The general looks at Ryka with knowing eyes. “Princess Luna’s Shadow Guardian.” The general says and grins just before charging Ryka. Dark clouds fill the sky. The filly looks up at the sky. “But..i don’t see any Pegasus moving the clouds.” She says out of confusion.
Lightning strikes down between Ryka and the general. Stopping the general in his tracks as thunder roars. “What? All the Pegasus are fighting in the war.” The general says then notices the storm cloud
with a lightning bolt cutie mark on Ryka’s thigh. “You control storms.” The general says taking a step back. “There’s my goal..fear.” Ryka says just before flying off like a rocket at the general. The general grits his teeth. “I will not back down!” He yells and pushes himself to the right dodging Ryka’s armor and
bucks Ryka in the side sending Ryka rolling across the ground. “You have been taught some kind of way to get exceptional speed and you may control storms but you’re still just a pony.” The general says. Ryka stands up his wings spreading sending out a shockwave. An explosion goes off in the distance. Ryka looks in it’s direction. “Canterlot.” Ryka says. The general grins. “You’ve lost this war Shadow Guardian.” The general says and takes off like a rocket at Ryka. “I can’t waste time with you, my Princess needs
me.” Ryka says and lightning strikes down again sending out a blinding flash making the general cover his eyes. Ryka rushes him sending his armor through the general’s chest. “I believe this is how you killed her mother.” Ryka says. “B-Bastard.” The general says. Ryka pulls his armor out, the general’s body slumping to the ground. Ryka looks toward Canterlot then looks at the filly and walks up to her. The filly looks back at him. “Thank you for saving me.” She says. Ryka kneels down front of her, his horn glowing
red making a flash of magic. Once the flash is gone a little box is between them. “What’s this?” She says and opens it revealing little armor that looks like Ryka’s. “Put those on and protect your parents with them.” Ryka says and stands up, lifting up his wings and flies off like a rocket. The filly’s eyes fill with tears as she puts the armor on her wings. “Thank you..Thank you.” She says as she breaks down crying. Meanwhile in Canterlot Castle, Abyss Celestia and Abyss Luna walk into the throne room. “You may as
well give up, all of Equestria belongs to us.” Abyss Celestia says. “We’d rather die than give in to the likes of you.” Princess Luna says. “We will not falter.” Princess Celestia says. “Kill them.” Abyss Luna says. Abyss soldiers fly and charge at Princess Celestia and Princess Luna. Lightning strikes outside lighting up the windows of the castle. “Ryka.” Princess Luna says just before Ryka flies through a window landing in front of her and Celestia, his wings spread and irises glowing. The abyss soldiers stop in their tracks.
Abyss Luna and Abyss Celestia look at Ryka in complete shock. “Ryka.” Princess Luna says. Ryka looks at her. “They are here to do me harm.” Princess Luna says. “They will not touch you my Princess.” Ryka says. “Now I get it, the rumors that you had a Shadow Guardian.” Abyss Celestia says. “But I never would’ve guessed it was an Abyss Pony.” Abyss Luna says. “Ryka is a hybrid, of Equestrian and Abyss.” Princess Celestia says. “A Hybrid!!” Abyss Celestia and Abyss Luna says in unison out of complete
disbelief. “One of our own actually got with one of yours.” Abyss Celestia says with gritted teeth. “Not quite, we took some genes from one of your strong Unicorn Generals, and the genes of one of our strong Pegasus and we used it to make Ryka.” Princess Celestia says. “Project Shadow Guardian.” Princess Luna says. “You bastards!!!” Abyss Luna screams with pure hatred. “Then what you programmed him like a robot to be your obedient soldier?” Abyss Celestia says. “No, my sister took Ryka
under her care, despite his looks and the cold air around him, she treated him no different than any other pony, Ryka is loyal to my sister of his own free will.” Princess Celestia says. “Then he can die with you.” Abyss Celestia says and the abyss soldiers resume their attack. Ryka’s wings lift up as his hooves
tilt forward. “Momentum, propulsion, acceleration.” Princess Luna says just before Ryka takes off disappearing from sight. Ryka appears in front of abyss Celestia and abyss Luna. The abyss soldiers in the
air fall to the ground as the ones on the floor slump over. Abyss Celestia’s and Abyss Luna’s horns glow. Making Ryka glow then throw him hard into the wall. Ryka pulls himself out of the wall and walks toward Abyss Celestia and Abyss Luna as lighting strikes and thunder roars. “A throw that hard should’ve killed him.” Abyss Celestia says. “What is he?” Abyss Luna says. “Your end.” Princess Luna says. Abyss Celestia takes off at alarming speed her horn pointed at Princess Luna. Ryka takes off disappearing from
sight. Appearing in front of Princess Luna and blocks Abyss Celestia’s horn with his armor. “Damn you!!!” Abyss Celestia scream her face full of rage. Abyss Luna takes off at an alarming speed toward Princess Celestia. Ryka pushes off of Abyss Celestia’s horn, spins around and bucks her hard into Abyss Luna sending them both rolling across the floor. “Thank you Ryka.” Princess Celestia says. “Do not thank me, it was only cause my Princess would be sad if you were dead.” Ryka says. “Well thank you all the same.”
Princess Celestia says smiling. “A hyrbrid alicorn highly trained in combat and has armor that can cut through ours, if we knew about this we would’ve prepared better.” Abyss Celestia says as she stands up. “That was the point, to hit you hard with our secret.” Princess Celestia says. “I’ve had enough talking.” Ryka says and takes off at alarming speed. “Look out sister!” Abyss Luna says and jumps in front of Abyss Celestia, Ryka’s armor stabbing right through her heart. “Luna!!!” Abyss Celestia screams. Ryka throws
abyss Luna’s body making it roll across the floor. “How dare you!!!” Abyss Celestia screams, her horn and eyes glowing. Abyss Celestia’s body is enveloped in magic. She teleports all over the throne room getting faster and faster till finally appearing at Ryka punching him so hard it sends Ryka through the wall and into a house in Canterlot. “Ryka!” Princess Luna and Princess Celestia say in unison. Abyss Celestia teleports to Ryka. “First I’ll immobilize you then force you to watch me kill them both, then your
death will be slow.” Abyss Celestia says. Ryka struggles to stand up, gritting his teeth, his body covered in cuts as he gets on his hooves. “So it seems the great Shadow Guardian can be hurt by something as simple as a teleport spell, not so mighty after all.” Abyss Celestia says with a chuckle. Ryka breathes heavy as his vision goes back and forth of blurry and clear. Princess Luna runs outside and shoots a flare of magic into the sky. Few seconds later the sky fills with bat pony soldiers heading to Ryka and Abyss
Celestia. “Hurry.” Princess Luna says. Ryka jumps out of the wall of the house, landing on the ground. Abyss Celestia looks up at the sky seeing the approaching bat pony soldiers. “Retreat or die.” Ryka says. The bat pony soldiers land behind Ryka “Ryka is only letting her retreat cause of the whole teleporting thing, she too fast for him to predict and counter, we gotta make a opening for him.” The bat pony general whispers to the soldiers. They all nod. “Attaaaaack!” The bat pony general says. “What?” Ryka
says out of confusion as the bat pony soldiers rush Abyss Celestia. She teleports around hitting them hard and cutting some down “Now Ryka while she’s not focused on you!!” The bat pony general yells. “What?” Abyss Celestia says just before Lightning strikes in front of her sending out a blinding flash. Abyss Celestia covers her eyes out of pain. Ryka takes off at an alarming speed, cutting a deep X across her chest. “Ah…” She says and falls to the ground hard. “Playing dirty to blind her but we had no choice.”
The bat pony general says. They all land with Ryka. Abyss Celestia dead in a pool of her own blood. Ryka looks at the dead bat pony soldiers. “They’ll get the proper burial they deserve for their sacrifice, I’ll make sure of it.” The bat pony general says. Ryka flies off silently. “No disrespect meant by this sir but why did you tell him that? They say he never shows emotion.” A bat pony soldier says. “He wouldn’t have looked at them if he didn’t in some way feel responsible for their deaths and besides…” The bat
pony general says. Ryka lands at the royal canterlot library and walks up to the librarian. “I need to know where to find your section on resurrection magic.” Ryka says. “Resurrection magic, that’s very dangerous and powerful magic are you sure.” The librarian says. “I’am.” Ryka says. “…Ponies like him carry the world on their shoulders.” The bat pony general says. The librarian leads Ryka to the section. “I must warn you sir, a resurrection spell requires a cities worth of Unicorns just to pull off and that includes for
Alicorns, if you try it by yourself you will die.” The librarian says. The crying filly goes through Ryka’s head as he looks at a book that says Resurrection on it. “That’s fine.” Ryka says as his horn glows making the book float off the shelf. “Please tell me you don’t mean that.” The librarian says. Everything slowly fades back to Twilight and Spike in the library. “And so Ryka the cold Shadow Guardian returned to the filly and gave his life bringing her parents back from the dead. The filly was happy to see her parents
alive again but broke down crying when she realized Ryka was dead, screaming “No! it’s not fair!!! Come back!!!” as her parents hugged her with tears in their eyes. The war and the life of a caring guardian ended…The End.” Twilight says and puts the book back on its shelf and wipes tears from her eyes. Spike wipes tears from his eyes and sniffs. “I told you I didn’t like this story Twilight.” Spike says. “I knew Ryka has been resurrected a lot and secretly deals with a lot inside but…I didn’t know this…” Twilight says.
“Can we go see him?” Spike says. “Sure Spike, he should be at his house with Rainbow Dash and their Daughter Raina.” Twilight says. Twilight and Spike start to walk out of the library as everything fades to black.
