Chapter 1: The Last Day of High School...Part 1
"Don't do it Cobalt."
Cobalt looked up from his cafeteria lunch and gave the white-coated stallion in question a goofy grin with his mouth still full of food.
"hmghfhftfthfthfhtfht."
''What? Come on Cobalt I am being serious."
"Argg, Shining Armor you know he's not going to listen", said the other white-coated stallion sitting next to him. "I mean, when did he ever listen. Remember the pancake incident? It took the cleaners two weeks to scrape all those pancakes from the princess's office ceiling."
"Those pancakes were something else though", Shining Armor said as he gazed dreamily at the ceiling." I never knew Cobalt could cook."
The blonde maned stallion frowned at Shining."It seems somepony forgot about the events that transpired after that."
Shining Armor smiled sheepishly as he blew a blue strand of mane from his face."Come on Blueblood. It was a harmless prank."
"A harmless prank that would have gotten us expelled!", interjected Blueblood." I mean which team are you on Shining. Have you forgotten how significant this day is to you? For all of us? It's the last day of our final year at the academy. The last thing we need is another detention because of a certain oaf who always hauls us into trouble."
Shining Armor gave a heavy sigh of defeat, knowing fully well what Blueblood said was true. He pushed his food tray away and levitated his bag on the table.
"He's brought up a valid point Cobalt", said Shining as he revealed a document from his bag. "Recruits for the guards are being processed today and if I get into trouble they would certainly reject my application ."
"And then you will have nothing to impress Cadence on your date tonight.", summed up Cobalt as he made a beeline for Shinings food tray.
Shining Armor blushed furiously, his face turning beet red.''N-n-no, that's
not the reason I wanted to join. It was part of the reason but ever since I was a foal I dreamt of becoming a guard. To protect the weak and defenceless. To escort the princess herself...."
Cobalt grinned."I think we all know which princess you are talking about."
Shining Armour once again gave an embarrassed look and took an attempt to flee from Cobalt's teasing. "Uhh, I got to go and submit these papers. See you all later!"No sooner had the last words left his mouth, shining armor took off with a speed towards the corridor.
"I'm telling you that unicorn could beat any earth pony when he's flustered ", chortled Cobalt.
Cobalt looked at Blueblood who was casually wiping his mouth with a napkin. "You seem somewhat okay with this."
"Regarding what?" replied Blueblood as he levitated the napkin towards the bin.
"You know...about Shining and Candence, you nitwit", said Cobalt rolling his eyes.
"Yeah, keep rolling your eyes, you might eventually find a brain", snarked Blueblood." I don't have any objections, now don't get me wrong. I care for her, she's family, and even though I'm her cousin we essentially have the bond of siblings, and besides, I already gave Shining the big brother talk."
Cobalt raised an eyebrow." The big brother talk?"
Blueblood smirked as he levitated his chemistry notebook." I just warned him what would happen should he break her heart."
The idea of Blueblood intimidating Shining Armor sent Cobalt into a frenzy of laughter.
Blueblood frowned at the laughing unicorn." What is so amusing?"
"Nothing, absolutely nothing", Cobalt said with a grin as he stood up from the table, pushing Shining armor's tray of food(what was left of it)." Now I need to go, so catch you lat..."
Cobalt was suddenly plopped backed into his place as Blueblood's magic aura surrounded him.
"No you don't", said Blueblood with a small smirk." You gonna have to strive harder to weasel your way out of this one, Cobalt. We not done talking about your planned agenda for today."
Cobalt sighed in defeat."Do we have to do this?"
"Yes. You are not going to wreck this day for us", said Blueblood as he levitated his quill, finishing last-minute chemistry homework."Now be a good colt until Shining arrives."
Cobalt tried to break free from Blueblood's magic but to no avail. Bluebloods magic was extremely powerful and not even his earth pony strength could overpower it.
"Alright.Alright.I'll stay still so long as you let go of me", said Cobalt panting as his champagne pink mane covered his left eye."There go the two hours setting my hairstyle."
Blueblood looked at Cobalt's face, looking for signs of treachery. His face was surprisingly neutral, which caught Blueblood off guard, Cobalt is never neutral but Blueblood relented and released Cobalt from his magic. Maybe, just maybe he is taking this seriously.
Cobalt kept to his word and for the next one minute, there was silence as Blueblood carried on with his homework, finishing the last chemical equation.
"Cobalt have you made your decision yet?", said Blueblood as he put his notebook away. He nearly forgot but thank Mom's sun he did not.
"Yes, I have made up my mind", said Cobalt as he chewed on a hayburger (where the hell he got a hayburger from?).
That took Blueblood by surprise. He had offered Cobalt last week to join him in his royal duties and eventually train to become an ambassador. He offered both shining armor and blueblood but shining armor already had a job that he wanted to pursue which also included the filly of his dreams. I mean talk about killing two birds with one stone (don't let Fluttershy catch you for saying that!). The job would fit Cobalt perfectly. He is energetic and likes to talk a lot amongst other things...*cough*... pancakes stuck on the ceiling.
"I'm joining the solar guards".
Bluebloods brain stalled as he registered what Cobalt was saying.
Oh no...
"Cobalt don't you dare... ."
"You did not mind Shining Armor with Cadence".
"That's different", seethed Blueblood."She's not my mom ! First of all, it is wrong to woo a friend's mother and secondly, she's over 10000s years old! You only 17!"
"Age is but a number...Son",grinned Cobalt.
Blueblood glared at him." And jail is just a room".
At that moment Shining armor arrived, looking extremely happy."Guys, you would not believe what..."
Shining Armor looked at the two of them, confused at the scene before him."Did I miss something?"

Chapter 2: The Last Day of High School ...Part 2

Shining Armor sighed a breath of relief. If he arrived even a second later, Blueblood and Cobalt would be on the floor wringing each other's necks... wait, scratch that, actually it would be more like Blueblood wringing Cobalt's neck, who would be giggling like a maniac.
"Pushing Blueblood's buttons is not going work, Cobalt," said Shining, as he sat down.
"Thank you, Shining,” huffed Blueblood as he calmed himself down. His charlatan tricks almost worked though."
"I was not joking my son, would your future father ever lie?, " said Cobalt with a modest grin.
"Cobalt, I'm gonna kill you! You bungler!," said Blueblood as he lunged towards Cobalt.
Fortunately, Shining snatched Blueblood in his magic.
"Ahh, I see what Cobalt was up to," chuckled Shining as he levitated Blueblood back to his seat, whose hooves were crossed.
"Okay, let us get this over with," Shining said, his tone becoming serious.
Blueblood responded in agreement." Yes, enough fooling around."
The two unicorns stared at Cobalt, waiting for a response.
Cobalt stared backed with equal intensity but eventually relented.
"Fine!, I will cooperate," said Cobalt, raising his hoof in defeat
Two heads are better than one after all...
5 minutes later
"Okay," said Blueblood, slowly."So you promise you are not going to do pranks today?"
"I Pinkie promise!, Cross my heart and hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my eye !"
Cobalt promptly took the cupcake from Shining's hoof(the cupcake Cadence made for him) and squashed it into his eye.
Blueblood winced at the grisly sight." I'm going to be sick".
Unlike Blueblood who was now officially scarred for life, Shining was more concerned about something else
"Awwww, I was going to eat that!," whined Shining."Cadence made that just for me!"
"Here, have a strawberry cupcake," said Cobalt as he miraculously retrieved the confectionery from his hair.
Shining took the cupcake.
"My good pony are you going to eat a cupcake that came from a ponies mane? I mean how did it get there in the first place!," questioned Blueblood."Now put the cupcake down.. ".
NOM NOM NOM.....
"Argg!," groaned Blueblood, his head on the table." I do not know why I even try."
"itsds deligfhuous!," said Shining with his mouth full causing Cobalt to chuckle.
"Yeah!, my little cousin Pinkie baked it, and she's still a foal!"
Blueblood picked up his head." I did not know you had a cousin."
"Me neither," added Shining.
"I only found out that she was my cousin three years ago, they live on a rock farm, which explains why it took so long to find them."
"That is remote as you can get," said Shining, nodding in agreement.
"This Pinkie seems to have a great influence over you," said Blueblood.
"Yes, she taught me everything I know! and it all started on that fateful day, three years ago..."
Shining groaned silently."O no, his reminiscing his past again'', whispered Shining.
Blueblood sighed. There was nothing he could do.
Blueblood and shining were lucky that they woke up just in time at the end of Cobalt's Tale.
"...All of a sudden she was bright pink and her hair was poofy. she was not the only one to change though...anyway, in conclusion, that day gave me a lot of things including my earing."
Cobalt pointed at his right ear presenting a stud with a pink crystal on it.
The unicorns nodded their head.
"An enthralling tale Cobalt", commented Blueblood.
"Interesting life experience," said shining, stomping his front hooves.
Cobalt smirked."you do know that I was aware that you two were not listening."
"What an absurd accusation!," exclaimed Blueblood." We did no such act."
"Yeah! We were not sleeping at all," said Shining Armor.
oops...
Blueblood faced hoofed."Shining you blithering fool!"
"Nah, it's fine," said Cobalt, waving a hoof and waking up from his chair." I will tell again next time and do not worry, I am not going to prank anypony today. I pinkie promised and you never break a pinkie promise."
After saying what he had to say, Cobalt left the cafeteria.
Blueblood felt a sense of uneasiness as he and shining walked towards their last lesson, Chemistry. Cobalt was going to do something but if not a prank what else?
"You look tense," noted shining.
"Are you not too?"
"Nope, Cobalt 'Pinkie' promised. I have never seen him more serious than that.Ever."
"Then why I have the feeling we going end up in my mothe- I mean my aunt's office again?"
Shining sighed."We going to just wait and see."

The chemistry lesson went surprisingly well. Even Sir Redox, the chemistry teacher, was suspicious. He kept on glancing at Cobalt every minute but relented. He, of course, was not the only one, Blueblood also kept an eye on him but he would receive a cheeky grin from Cobalt.
"Just let it go Blueblood," said Shining Armor tapping his shoulder."Cobalt is not going to do anything. Three-quarter of the lesson is already over."
Blueblood relaxed. Shining was right. Everything is going to be absolutely...
"And as you see students when I pour this chemical to..."
BOOM!!!!!!!
PRINCESS CELESTIAS OFFICE
The three stallions stood in a straight row in front of the princess with the Professor by the side, fuming with rage. He was covered with confetti excluding his mane which was singed at the ends and His beard, which was still smoking.
"It was them, your highness! The ringleader and his two accomplices!"
Blueblood sighed. They always get involved with Cobalt without even getting involved in his plans. His mother like aunt gave him a disapproving look. The type of look that comes before a very very long lecture.
"Do you have any proof Professor?" questioned the princess, her face expressionless.
"Your majesty, yes I do!," said Sir Redox, triumphantly, looking at the three stallions, especially at Cobalt." This time you all are done for!"
Sir Redox placed the videotape in the record player." This is all the evidence you to expel these ruffians, your majesty," said The professor as he fumbled with the device. " Well, not the prince of course. He just fell into bad company of that middle-class unicorn and that commoner."
Blueblood scowled at the professor. that no good noble suck up. He looked up and sure enough, the princess was also giving an annoyed look at the professor but he was too busy getting the video ready to notice. Blueblood looked at him to com-padres. They did not seem to have heard what the professor said. Cobalt was whispering something in Shining's ear, who was grinning. Blueblood buried his face in his hooves. Even on the possibility of getting expelled, they still act like little colts.
"Aha!," exclaimed the professor as he successfully started the video on the TV." Here is your evidence!"
Everyone, except for Cobalt, was staring at the screen. Expecting footage of Cobalt doing something to link him to the confetti bomb but instead, they received one Chemistry Professor singing in the shower.
"My eyes, they burn!," exclaimed Blueblood, as he immediately covered them.
Cobalt and Shining were laughing to an extent they rolling on the floor. Even the princess was trying to keep a straight face.
"What!", said Redox, his cheeks turning red with embarrassment. He quickly snatched the videotape from the player.
"Learners wait outside", ordered the princess." I will decide your punishment later for embarrassing Sir Redox"
"Yes, thank you princess ...wait what about the Confetti bomb?".
"I am afraid you do not have any proof Redox", said Princess Celestia.
"No!," said the Professor I got more evidence!here!see these are the materials found in his school bag that he could have used to make the confetti bomb'
The princess levitated the two objects. her expression showing confusion."A toothbrush and a screwdriver?"
"Princess this is Cobalt we talking about! Laws of logic do not apply to him! I mean are you not suspicious at least? Who carries a screwdriver to school!"
"That is enough Redox," said Princess with finality in her tone."You do not have any substantial evidence so I suggest you leave it be.
Redox kept quiet. He heard the warning well and clear."Very well your Majesty," he said, bowing.
"Now what was the other reason you came to see me for," said the princess as she repositions herself on her seat.
Redox's mood immediately lightens up.
"Ahh yes...," said Redox, mentally smirking. If he can not expel that filthy commoner. Then this is the next best thing, after all this does belong to him.
"I made a huge discovery your Majesty," said Redox as he levitated a small box from his saddlebag." An object that contains the same if not more energy than alicorn magic...your magic.
Celestia looked at him with surprise. Could it be?.No, she hid the elements of harmony safely but if not the elements what could it be?
she watched as he slowly opened the box revealing
"Bird food?"
Redox looked bewildered. It cannot be! How could he have possibly stolen it back? Redox looked at Celestia who was radiating pure energy.
"Do you think this is funny Professor," said the princess her voice dangerously low.
"Oh no", thought Redox this is going to be a long day...
ROYAL GUARD REGISTRATION OFFICE
"Ow!," said Cobalt as he rubbed his hoof."Do you have to hit that hard?"
"Yes I do," said Blueblood angrily." You almost got us expelled! On the last day of high school no less! All for that stupid bracelet"
"But we did not get expelled."
Blueblood calmed down."I guess you are right".
"So what punishment your mother is giving us"
"Shhh! you dolt! Do not say that. We in a public place!"
Before Cobalt could reply a blur of white and blue squashed them in a huge hug.
"I have been recruited into the royal guards!," exclaimed Shining.
"I'm so proud of you. I knew you would make it," said Cobalt".
"Indeed we are but we first have our punishment to do if we want to celebrate at donut joes place."
What is the punishment?", asked Shining.
"Washing and drying dishes..."
"That's not too bad," said Cobalt
"Hmmm. Let me rephrase that. Washing and drying the palaces cups plates and glasses that number in total 12098, to be exact."
Cobalt and Shining groaned.
"Now, now groaning won't get the dishes clean. Let us go and get it over with."
Far away in a small rock farm...
Little Pinkie clutched her chest.
"Cobalt what have you done?"

Chapter 3 : Ponies Change For The Better...or Worse
"Ponies do not change with time time but rather change by choice"

Blueblood, Shining Armour and Cobalt.Three names.Three names that, if mentioned anywhere in Canterlot, will give you one statement. No matter which pony you ask.
"A true example of friendship!"
"Those knuckleheads are inseparable..."
"It seems their bond with each other is based on the concept of 'All for one and one for all' ."
"If you see on of them.Then know the other two are not far behind."
Though Ponies may use different words , the meaning it conveys is the same.
Best friends till the end.
Unfortunately just like how a mighty mountain gets eroded by the elements so too can can the bonds of friendship, if said friendship is not...serviced so to speak, which was exactly what happened to their seemingly unbreakable bond, it was not maintained.
After High School Shining and Cobalt joined the royal guards while Prince Blueblood was being groomed in the matters of politics. At first everything seemed fine but secretly one of the three was not happy about the outcome.
Blueblood was alone. He had hoped Cobalt would accept his offer of joining but his mind was already decided on the last day of high school. Blueblood tried his best not look disappointed but unfortunately Cobalt noticed.
"Aww,do not worry bro since Shining and I are going to be guards we will always be in the the castle.You will never be alone."
But he was alone. His lessons were always private, one to one with a private tutor, hammering etiquette's upon etiquette's into his head and the occasional discriminatory views that the tutor tries to pass to him.
The only time he got to see his friends was equivalent to mere seconds when they so happened to march by in the squads , which also meant he only met one at a time. Though it was frequent, the only thing they could was wave or a smile.
Blueblood could not take it no more...
"Your highness were are you going ? We still have thirty minutes left."
"Of what? More of that useless upper class shi.."
"Blueblood! ,"said the Princess,her voice raised.The princess thanked Faust that she decided to accompany Blueblood to his lessons after his tutor complained to her he was skipping them.
"I am tired of this aunt ! What is the point of all of this? ,"said Blueblood,as he pointed this hoof to the stack of books.
The Princess was about to speak but saw Private tutor motioning hoof.
"Princess , if I may? ," asked the aged pony. Celestia nodded.
"I understand that you are stressed out Blueblood by all of this work and you have every right to complain but at the end of Celestia's day,you are a prince. A Prince that is needed by all the commoners in Equestria... "
"Enough ! I am tired of your stupid prejudices !". Blueblood knew he would start with the hierarchy system and rant about." Even If it takes me to abscond my title to end these useless lessons , I would gladly do it."
Princess was about to scold Blueblood but was again stopped by Private tutor.
"Is it because of your friends ?"
Blueblood looked at the pony,giving him an irritating sigh."What do you mean ' because of my friends' ? "
"Well, it seems to me that your friends are preventing you from your royal duties," said Private tutor, as he cleaned his glasses.
"How dare y-"
"You want to stop you education just to spend some time with a couple of ponies who you think understand you and care for you, "interrupted the old stallion.
"Yes they do!," retorted Blueblood."They are my best friends."
The tutor scoffed."Best friends? No offence your highness but if it weren't for your title as prince,those so called best friends would not even take a second thought about you in high school."
Blueblood glared at at the the tutor."A load of hot air coming from a pony from the past."
"Okay, that is enough," said Princess Celestia as she stood between the two unicorns."Sir Private tutor you may leave."
The stallion bowed."As you wish Princess."
Private tutor walked towards the door but stopped as he reached the handle." Prince Blueblood," said the tutor,his back still facing the prince."I know it is hard to believe what I have said but if you want proof go to the galloping pony inn at 6 pm and see the true colours of your ' best friends' ."
He then left the room without another word after that.
Princess Celsetia sighed as she face Blueblood."Bluey you got to stop whatever you are doing.Private tutor, though I do not agree with most of his views, he does have a point.Friendship is important ,there is no doubt about that but sometimes ponies go they separate ways..."
Celestia looked at the door closing ,leaving her alone in the room.Her faced turning into a tired expression.All ponies see is the God-like Alicorn who is the epitome of perfection but in reality she is just like the next pony.A pony that gets worried and happy.A pony that makes mistakes and Faust above,the mistakes she had made throughout the hundred of years she ruled...alone until Blueblood came along.she made a promise to herself that she would bring him up with the best of values and quality's. And she did.But why she was feeling a sense of dread?
Celestia wiped the tears that were falling as she teleport-ed to her office,pushing all her feelings away.She was a princess.She had to be strong for her little ponies.Sitting in her seat as she took the piles of paper she had to do before night court.
Canterlot Gardens
"I see, the plan is in motion ," said the noble as he gazed at Canterlot from the balcony
"All we have to do now is wait," replied Private tutor, as sipped his coffee."We will then be able mold him to want we want,a proper prince of Equestria."
"But what if it backfires?," questioned the noble.
"I assure you,that no such thing would happen,"smirked tutor,summoning a stack of letters with his magic."I went to great lengths to separate him from his friends."
"I see, I shall inform the others that everything is going according to plan," replied the noble, as he woke up from the table."I bid you Goodbye"
"Likewise."
Private Tutor gazed once more at the great city.He knew his highness will take the bait , all he needed to do was plant the seed of doubt. Tonight a new prince would be born.
Night Court
Celestia yawned as the last pony left, satisfied that a query of his was sorted.Well that went smoothly she thought.
The princess was about to leave but stopped when she saw the head of her Solar Intelligence Agency, Commander Sparrow*,walking briskly towards her.
"Your Highness,"the commander said as she bowed."Sorry for disturbing you at such an ungodly hour."
"It is find commander,"replied Celestia,with a small smile." I appreciate that you take your position seriously."
"Thank you your highness. I bring serious news. Some of our agents detected Lunar ponies in Canterlot."
"Will we be able to identify them?"
Commander sparrow shook her head."All six agents were K.I.A , moments after they identified the lunar ponies.Their positions were spread out evenly throughout Canterlot, so we do not even know were the hostiles might be."
Princess Celestia winced.Six office dead.Six families ruined and it was all her fault.
"What do these beast even want?",muttered the Commander,."what did we ever do to them? Can't they stay on their stupid island and let us be?"
Princess Celestia did not answer the question,taking it as a statement instead."Inform the royal guards and all the units in the agency.Increase security and the searching units. "
The Commander bowed once again."It will be done your highness." And with that she left.
Canterlot Gardens
Princess Celestia stared at the moon,tears falling from her face."Oh Luna..."

Chapter 6 : Secrets revealed...
The rows of books were overwhelming Cobalt. It appeared that the rows of bookcases were placed in a maze pattern to no doubt confuse and deter unwanted guests. Cobalt looked up. But unfortunately just like every design there is always a flaw.
Cobalt took a deep breathe, his irises glowing brighter.
He smiled. "Nope, they still here. All six of them."
And it appeared that they were on the other end of the archives.
Cobalt right ear raised. Ha ! Nice try...
Cobalt ducked just in time as three metal projectiles whistled over his head, embeding the wall behind him. Cobalt gave a quick look to confirm they were metal Feathers instead to find metal-like needles.
Wait a minute thought Cobalt. If it was metal feathers i would have had assumed Pegasus but metal spikes ? That would mean...
Two figures glided down from the bookcase landing in front of Cobalt.Their coats were midnight blue, except for the mare on the right, hers was a bit lighter. There wings were bat-like, no feathers. Both of their eyes were of a dark green colour. But the most important aspect of them all was the fangs. They were barely visible but you could see it.
"Lunar ponies."
The one on the right, glared at him, and then turned to his companion."Argh ! I told you we should had taken the guards out before we entered."
The Lunar Mare just sighed. "How many times I have to tell you that I am not the one who makes the decision! I just give the orders what Crystal gives me."
Ah. Crystal. Thought Cobalt. Shes the one who is running the show.
"Now, what to do with you ? ," said the mare. She grinned revealing her fangs. They were not as big as her companions but was just as deadly. "I wonder how you taste like! The other two were not great at all, very salty."
Cobalt's tightened. "In the the name of her Majesty, Princess Celestia, the ruler of the sun and the moon, you are arrested for murder and treason, surrender your weapons or otherwise brutal force will be used."
"The ruler of the sun and the moon!," seethed the mare as she turned towards her companion."Can you believe it Dark fang ? Crystal was right, these ponies do not even know there own history."
Dark Fang nodded. " Yeah, Moonglow .It seems Celestia is not saint-like as i thought, hiding away our history, erasing the memories of her own si..."
Dark fang immediately fell to the ground as the spear pierced his chest, missing all vital organs, but the pain knocked him .
"Fang !,"shouted Moonglow as she rushed towards him.
"It cannot be... a bearer," said Dark fang, fearfully.
"What are you talking about fang,he is just a... " Moonglow looked at Fangs gaze. The ponies irises were glowing and it appeared his earing was glowing too.
"o No, we got to warn Crystal"
"Go," replied Fang. I will buy you some time.
Moonglow nodded,taking to flight to the other end of the archives, disappearing over the bookshelves.
Cobalt looked at the Lunar pony as the spear magically dissipated from the Lunar pony's pierced body, reappearing by his side. He was surprised that they knew he was a Rune bearer. As far he was concerned he was the only one who knew of the existence of the runes, even the princess seemed to have forgotten about them. They were that ancient. and he, a simple pony found one on a small little rock farm.
The lunar pony coughed violently."Go on, let us get this over and done with."
Cobalt ignored his statement, he was quite curios on how much knowledge they knew about the runes."How much do you know about the runes."

They definitely know more about the the runes than he does but looks like his hostage was not going to budge.He tried asking Violet about his role and duty as a bearer but she always used to weave her way out of that one. Now though he was having troubling thoughts. Doom bringer. Kinda catchy.
"Violet."
The sound of yawning was heard.
"Yes Cobalt ?"
Cobalt did not need to speak, he simply showed Violet his memories.
Cobalt waited for a couple of seconds only to get her reply.
"No ."
"I need to know Violet, i need answers. i need to know why they are here.I nee-"
Cobalt was immediately stopped by an invisible hoof on his muzzle.
"Okay, fine but only certain questions.Technically i am not allowed to, so you owe me one."
Cobalt smiled." A date perhaps ?"
SMACK !
An invisible hoof hit his head. "Ow! what was that for ?"
"I told you to stop that !"
"Stop what? A date would be awesome ! Pony to pony and besides if your hoof smelled that nice I'm sure..."

Cobalt slowly walked towards another pair of doors. The interrogation went smoothly, thanks to Violets truth spell. The information he learnt was... shocking. Like Princess Celestia having a sister, who was the actual princess of the night, and her being banished unjustly by her evil sister. Another big piece of information he learnt was that in a few years time Princess Luna would escape her lunar prison. Cobalt was surprised to learn that after Princess Luna banishment, many therestrals revolted against Celestia, calling themselves Lunar ponies. A bloody civil war broke out, deaths ran into the thousands, all which was erased from the history books. History, it seems, had been written by the victors. All of this information was what the lunar ponies wanted to reveal to the the public. But they needed proof, which is why they were here in the Canterlot archives. Cobalt took all of this with a pinch of salt, of course. Radicals beliefs were, most of the time... exaggerated. The princess would not banish her own sister to the moon,right? thought Cobalt. And the last piece of information that he got from Dark fang was the most interesting one. Coming to the Canterlot archives for dusty old books was only one of the reasons. They were also here for the Shadow rune, which they found out was here. Cobalt wanted to ask him more questions but unfortunately, Violet knew what he was going to ask and cut the spell. Dark fang fell unconscious after that. Cobalt had to leave him as he heard Guards hoof-steps coming his way.
Cobalt read the sign.
FORBIDDEN. DO NOT ENTER.
"Wait a minute. There is a forbidden area within a forbidden area which is within a restricted area which is within the royal archive of canterlot which is within the Canterlot library which is guarded 24/7. Really shows the hierarchy of the elite ."
"Be carful Cobalt, if the Rune of shadow is awake than be ready for a fight. Remember the rune of shadow is the only bearer who does not have a guardian, they are both and the same. Also the fact that he gets stronger with every opponent he defeats."
"Your Family is wacked, Violet. And I think this brother of yours takes first prize as most messed up pony."

Chapter 7 : In The Name of The Pri... You Know What, Never Mind...
Something has gone wrong. We don't seem to have an archived copy of that chapter. Chapter 8 : A Runic Reunion
Every pony have their own unique dreamscape or to be more specific, a Junction of sort (Think about a train station) that leads to other dreams such as nightmares, happy recollections and the more intense ones like ahem... lustful dreams for example, the list goes on and on. The dreamscape could be anything, a classroom or Palace, it all depends on the pony.
Cobalt's dreamscape was something else. A grassland that stretched towards the setting of the sun, with one lone apple tree, which underneath was the sleeping form of Cobalt.
Violet sighed as she heard the soft breaths of Cobalt. Igris Knocked him hard, enough to send him here...
Violet mentally rolled her eyes. "You both can come out now."
"Hmpf, I thought you said sis would cuddle with him, bro"
Another voice replied, exasperated. " I said 'would', you Nob-skull, 'would'. I was stating a possibility not a fact. "
Violet turned around to see a lone stallion walking towards her. His coat and mane was black, adorned with glowing golden geometric lines across his coat. He wore a big grin as he spoke.
"Hello Sis! Long time no se..."
Unfortunately Violet punched him in the muzzle before he could finish his sentence, sending him flying towards the never ending sunset.
"Good one sis..."
Right at the edge of the shade of the tree, a abnormal creature stood before her, a creature not from Equus but from another planet called earth.
"Hugeyanim !", said Violet excitedly, tacking the creature into a hug.
"Whoa, be careful sis, this weapon is really dangerous", he said, his tone showing happiness, glad he could see his little sister."
Violet rolled her eyes but listened to him, taking a step back. The sword he was holding was nearly tall as him and seemed to absorb all the light, releasing an inky smoke in return.
"Sung..," said Violet only to be reassured by the rune of shadows.
"Do not worry Violet, Igris is just playing around and besides those royal guards are doing a somewhat substantial job of protecting him from my knight."
"That is a relief," sad Violet. "I just can't believe it, it has been over a thousand years since we last seen each other."
"Do not forget about me," wheezed Black Rune as he dragged his body towards the tree. " What was that for sis ? I thought you would be happy to see me."
Violet crossed her hooves."If I recalled correctly, Cobalt and I tried to communicate to you but for some reason a certain pony did not want to talk."
"I was following the rules !," defended Black Rune. "A guardian is not allowed to contact or be in the presence of another bearer of another rune. It is the rules. Rules which are meant to be followed and adhered, speaking about rules... "
Violet heard Sung sighing loudly out of boredom, probably knowing what was coming next.
"I do not know what is going on between you and Cobalt but whatever it is... it is not allowed.
Violet was blushing furiously but Black rune did not seem to notice it as he carried on with his rant.
"It is forbidden for a guardian to have feelings for their bearers as the rule states it mus..."
Sung probably tired of Black runes ranting about his beloved rules stuffed his mouth with a apple that he found on the ground.
"Hmhpsdfdlkfkfl !"
"Aaah, much better," said The rune of shadows as he turned towards Violet.
"Thank you brother," replied Violet, still blushing.
"You like him don't you ?"
Violet nodded slowly, unsure whether to tell him or not.
"Does he know or... "
"H-He is aware of it."
"And does he love you ?"
"I-I-I do not know."
"Ah, I see," nodded Sung. "Lets find out shall we ?"
The rune of shadows was about to poke Cobalt on the head to wake him up, only to be stop by a frantic Violet.
"No ! Brother don't, I-I-I ... I do not want him see me...," said Violet, her ears folded back.
Black Rune spat the apple out of his mouth."Wait. You did not let him see you ? Why ?"
"Is this about your eyes?"
Violet did not reply, her face looking at the ground.
The Rune of shadows cupped his hands under her chin, bringing her face to his face.
"Being blind is the worst," said Violet, bitterly.
"No Violet, the worst is having sight but no vision of the road ahead"
Brother is right Violet. It does not matter if you are blind, if this Cobalt truly loves he would not care until Tatruss freezes over.Until the end."
Violets grey eyes welled up with tears, something was off about her brothers, their expressions turned serious. even though she did not follow the rules to the extent of her brothers, she knew them well enough. And one rule in particular that surfaced her memories. Contact between guardians should be avoided unless necessary.
"Why did y-y-you want to talk to me ?"
Both the brothers gave their sister a sorrowful look.
" The Rune of shadows has fallen ,Violet. Right now I am just a sort of a clone right now. Too much of magic had been drain from me. I have turned to stone"
"But that means..."
"Yes Violet," nodded Sung. "The prophecy has begun. All the the runes will fall, it will happen, one way or the other.The end of days are far away but we are the first signs of the coming doom. All who are left are the Rune of protection, destruction and Nature but they too will fall."
Violet looked at him. He did not mentioned her...
"Cobalt !"
Violet stared in horror as Cobalt was choking in his sleep, his hooves were moving frantically as if trying to get oxygen.Violets eyes widened. Somepony was drowning him.
"What is happening !?," cried Violet.The rune of perception held Cobalt in her hooves crying.
"This is the best I could do Violet. A painless death. That is why I brought you here. Why I ordered Igris to knock him out. He was destined to die... but I will promise you one thing. The pony who did this will suffer, not now but when it comes... "
The Sergeant was surprised when the monster he and his guards were fighting for over five minutes simply disappeared.
Looking around he sighed in relief that his squad was okay, tired but okay, and surprisingly no casualty's or injury's. It was as if that the monster was holding back, trying to keep the casualty to a zero, alas he removed the silly hypothesis and put his focus on the unconscious earth pony in front of him.
Private Cobalt.
He would be lying if he said that he was not surprised of seeing an earth pony using magic but for the sake of his position he had to stay calm and collected.
"Sir! What must we do ?, An Earth pony using magic ? Do we have to report Cobalt to the princess or must ..."
Interrupted by a raise of hoof from the sergeant. The soldier kept quite.
"Soldiers, are we not friends of private Cobalt ?"
The squad was confused at the odd question, especially at a time like this, but in an unanimous voice gave their answer.
"YES SIR !"
"Then we cannot reveal his secret, you heard the private, not too long ago while he was fighting the monster. He said he would have to leave should his identity be revealed."
One of the the soldiers raised their hoof.
"Yes soldier ?"
"Sir, does that mean we should hide this from the Princess ?"
"Yes we can !," chipped another soldier. "If she can hide secrets from us then so could we!"
The whole squad murmured in agreement.
Wincing internally, the sergeant nodded his head in agreement. No doubt, he was loyal to Equestria and the princess but after interrogating the therestal that appeared to be drugged by Cobalt, spilled everything, shocking the whole squad. Obviously not believing a single word from his mouth, He ordered his soldiers to do a quick search in the library to find anything that supported his tall tale but it only made the situation worse. Although they did not find what they were looking for, they found information equally terrifying and a blow to their Equestrian pride. Equestria, it turns out, was not a pious state at all or perfect that the school books or the princess paints it. They found information that made their blood turn to ice.
The sergeant took a deep breath. "So it is agreed then ?"
The squad nodded.
The sergeant rolled his eyes at the sight of Private Golden Opportunity's raised hoof.
"And no, we are not going to blackmail him to buy drinks for us."
"Awwwww."
The sergeant facedhooved. Somethings never change.
The squad was literary a hoof-step away from the exit of the archives, all they had to do was to open the door. But that was the problem. The door did not want open.
"Fudge Sticks," gritted the soldier, prying the door to no avail.
The Sergeant put his hoof on his chin. "It seems that we locked in."
"I think we got a more serious problem than that Sir," responded from the soldier at the back.
"What seems to be the problem private Flash Light ? "
"Can somepony else carry Cobalt, he's heavy."
Before the sergeant could answer, Private Solar heart spoke up.
"Are you serious ?" Scolded the Guard mare , hitting him on the head. "You have been only carrying him for like two minutes."
"Exactly," replied Flash light, becoming more dramatic. "Two minutes of life ...gone... in two minutes !"
The whole squad laughed as Solar Heart hit Flash light on the head again, making him see stars. Fortunately he did not drop
The sergeant did not like this one bit. It had been twenty minutes since they finally got through with somepony on the other side of the door. They did not open for them nor did they ask who they were, they simply told him to wait with his squad until the medical and backup team arrives.
"Why must we have to wait ? Can't they let us out and then treat us ? Why is there a need for a backup team ?"
He had already told them that the hostiles have been cleared but did not get a reply.
"Something's wrong..."
He recalled the talk he had with his superior, Captain Iron Hoof, before they deployed him and his squad to the library.
"No matter what happens Sergeant, never ever go inside the royal archives, it is forbidden and for good reason."
"Even if someponys life is in danger ?"
"I'm afraid so Sarge, please I am begging you, do not enter the royal archives, it is a serious offence and in fact..." Captain Iron hoof looked around making sure no-pony was listening. "There is even a special unit dedicated to finding and ... punishing trespassers."
The Sergeant stopped pacing around, his eyes widening.
"Those buckers are going to kill us ."
"They gonna fricken what ?!"
"Watch your tongue Private Scorch."
"But Sir ?," questioned Solar Heart."We serve the princess, why would they want to kill us ?"
"Don't say 'they' ," interrupted Battle Scar. "We are going to be killed by the princess's order. By her hoof, all because we know her darkest secrets, the truth. "
"Whoa, hold on a minute Battle scar, you jumping the hay bale," said Golden Opportunity. "Sure, the princess did all of those morally grey acts, but if you looked closely she did all of that to protect Equestria."
"Yeah sure Golds, morally 'Grey'. Wiping a whole race is bucking morally grey ? Are you fricking serious ?". Scorches temper was rising.
The Sergeant watched on as his squad argued. Already two of his squad members were down. He was guilty. Guilty for not listening to Captain Iron Hoof and now his whole squad is going to die... because of him.
"Sir ? "
The whole squad became silent, stunned at the sight of their Sergeant, silently crying.
"I'm sorry squad. We in this mess because of me," said the Sergeant as he rubbed his eyes with his hoof, trying to save his dignity in front of the squad."If only..."
"No, sir," replied Flash Light. "We all agreed to go in to save Cobalt, he is part of the squad, of the family."
Battle Scar grunted in response."Gleaming Knight and Jousting Spear would have done the same."
The Squad nodded their heads, sad of the loss of two friends.
Confidence and determination came back to the Sergeant. "Yes, It seems I have forgotten the values of squad 77... and the promise we made to each other when this squad was created."
"We Fight Together and We Die Together !
"Now listen up Squad I got a plan..."
Chapter 10 : ...Loose End
Something has gone wrong. We don't seem to have an archived copy of that chapter. "What a strange artefact, Princess, where did you get ?," said the the excited foal.
The Princess chuckled."Calm down Twilight Sparkle.To answer your question, it was found by a stallion near the Canterlot river."
"It looks so pretty !," gushed the Twilight.
"...And familiar."
"Yes Princess ?"
The princess waved her hoof. "Sorry my little pony, just a funny sense of deja vu."
Both student left the room, leaving the black bracelet alone... waiting for a bearer

Chapter 4 : Hook, Line and Sinker ...
Private tutor was waiting patiently outside the Castle.It was 6 pm to be precise and his informant would be arriving soon. Hopefully with good news.
"Aaahh..."
The noble gave a approving nod to the approaching pony."Still punctual to the minute Hermes, I do hope you bring pleasing news."
"Yes I do your lordship," said Hermes."His Highness Blueblood has fallen for the trap."
Private tutor smiled."Good news indeed! Tell me everything that transpired."
Hermes gave slight bow."I will tell you everything I know my lord but unfortunately I only arrived at the ending of their argument."
Private tutor waved a hoof."No worries, it is not your fault.You went according to the time. Blueblood it seemed went earlier than expected."
"Thank you for forgiving me sire. As for my recount, Blueblood was arguing with the unicorn guard called Shining Armour, while the earth pony was trying to break the fight only to be hit on the face with a chair."
"With a chair ? "
"Yes sire, Prince Blueblood in a rage I have never seen before threw it with such force that the Farm pony was sent flying back with the chair."
Private tutor chuckled."It seemed the plan worked too perfectly."
"That is not all sire." Hermes continued."The prince then promptly left the inn only to be stopped again by his friends near Donut Joe's store.The same cycle repeated itself once again.The unicorns arguing and the earth pony trying to stop it.It carried on for ten minutes until Prince blueblood said words that were sharper than a thousands arrows to the earth pony. It was so bad sire...even I wanted to cry."
Private gave an irritated sigh."Is that all Hermes, please I do not want to know about your feelings on the matter."
"Yes my lord."
"OK, you did a good job Hermes," said Private tutor, levitating a bag of bits to the Pegasus."You may leave."
"Thank you sire. I forgot to tell you that Blueblood is his bed chambers right now... crying"
Private tutor watched the Pegasus as he flew of into the distance.
"It seemed the prince in his insecurity fell for it hook, line and sinker," grinned Private tutor as he walked into the castle.He had some messages to send to the nobles of Canterlot. A new age has begun.

Cobalt was worried and in pain. Worried about Blueblood and in pain by his words that he used.
Cobalt gripped the spear hard as he removed it from its holder.
"Now is not the time to be depressed Rune bearer. There is a reason why the palace is in high alert. Stay focused."
Cobalt sighed."Yes...you right. I should focus on my task."
At least this will be a good excuse to take his mind of the incident. Just as Blueblood stormed away they immediately encountered their respective sergeants. Apparently there were hostiles spotted near the Canterlot achieves and a squad needed one more guard. without thinking Cobalt lifted his hoof.Shining Armor also wanted to go too but ended up on the princesses security detail instead.
"I'm sorry Cobalt," said Shining, ashamed as they were going there separate ways."If I was calmed and collected and not like a stupid hothead, we would not have been in this situation."
"Stop worrying bro," said Cobalt,trying his best to smile."We will sort this out with him tomorrow and apologise,after all what he said did have some truth to it. We were not being good friends."
The disembodied voice sighed."And here i thought you will listen."
"Sorry Violet. It is kinda hard to forget."
"Well try harder because the squad is leaving in two minutes."
"Damn !"
Cobalt quickly put on his armour on and hoof guards."Well I am all set. Now what to do about this."
He looked at his right hoof which held a black stone bracelet.
"Leave it on. It might save your life. "
"Last time I checked, I was not the bearer of protection,"said Cobalt as he walked out of the barracks, his spear strapped to his back."Plus we also tried to communicate with its guardian, who, according to you was the most talkative guardian after you."
"It's true!," defended Violet."It is possible that he his not responding because you are not his bearer."
"But I thought you said that the rules were more like guidelines," questioned Cobalt.
"It is," agreed the guardian."But Black Rune takes the rules seriously. Being the oldest ,he felt that he should lead by example."
"And you did not bother to mention this when I was attempting to communicating with him during those 153 tries ?"
"I honestly thought he would reply.The world has changed,so I thought he soften up a bit. Unfortunately after the 50th try, I realise he was not going to communicate. I did not have the heart to tell you that what you did was in vain and a waste of time.'
"Well for that you have to change your form to a pair of shades."
'No. the earing suits you just fine."
" It was worth a shot," sighed Cobalt."Can you at least change the colour back to pink instead of violet?"
"Do you not like the colour violet?," asked Violet.
"Wow, I never knew cared so much. Did something change?," smirked Cobalt.Even though he could not see her but he knew she was blushing.
"Cobalt!"
Cobalt chuckled as he made his way to the squad.
"Listen up!," bellowed the sergeant."6 unidentified hostiles were spotted around the Canterlot library. To some of you this might sound confusing but what makes the this library important is that within it contains the the royal archives.Now half of you will be given a designated spots to guard and the other half to patrol.Do i make myself clear?"
"Yes Sir!," replied the squad.
"And Cobalt stop eating Cupcakes! It's 11pm for Faust sake!"
'Where in Taturus did he get the cupcake in the first place?"
Cobalt was on Patrol duty. He pattern was to walk up and down the hall way that lead to the archives with two guards at its entrance.The hallway was in the shape of a L with door at the end of it. He scanned the whole place every second.Yes the whole library. He is the bearer of perception after all.
"I do not understand why you are not using me."
Cobalt giggled."Firstly, that sounded so wrong on so-many levels."
"That is not what I meant ! ," squeaked Violet.
Cobalt just smirked and continued."To answer your question. My reason for not using the rune of perception is because I will become lazy as I would be relying on it too much and it will be unfair to my enemies.
"Oooo, the great Cobalt, even to his enemy's he shows mercy," Violet said,sarcastically.
"Why thank you for that compliment," replied Cobalt.
"I was being sarcastic," said Violet facehooving."You are just like Black Rune,you two would get along quite well"
"Well too bad for him. I already found my guardian."
"Stop that!"
"Stop what ?"
"Arrgg! Never mind..."
"You do not like it when I compliment you ?"
"No... I mean yes! I just ...I'm going to sleep."
Silence.
"Sorry Violet," chuckled Cobalt."Good night."
Cobalt felt bad for teasing Violet like that but hay, he was pretty sure she enjoyed it.He eventually reached the end of the Hall.
"What the..."
Cobalt rushed towards the fallen guards,there necks were cut clean.No noise. An instant death, for both of them. Whoever these monsters were, they were skilled with the blade.Cobalt looked closer at there wounds. It appeared to be, Pegasus blades. With great sadness he covered their eyes. Gleaming knight and Jousting spear deserved better. He remembered when their foals used to come to watch their dads train.
Cobalt was angry. Angry for not paying attention, for not focusing. He had the ability to save them.
His earing started to glow, emitting a pink magic aurora. The head of his spear transformed from steel into pink diamond and its handle into black obsidian. Instead of holding the spear it levitated by his side, radiating pure energy.
Cobalt scanned the floor, his irises emitting a light glow. It appeared all six hostiles were in the the archives. No exits except for the entrance they came in. Cobalt momentarily was deciding should he alert the other guards but decided against it. He was not joking that they were skilled. It also appeared that they preferred stealth attacks. If the other guards joined in, not only will there be casualties but he would have to suppress his power's.
Cobalt walked through the unlocked doors. Closing it behind him
"Six skilled killers vs one Bearer of Perception... kinda seems unfair... for them."

Cobalt was getting exhausted from all the the ducking and diving he had to do to stay clear from Igris sword. His spear was designed for long distance shots, which the knight deflected, and for stabbing, which could not make a dent against his opponents armour.
"Could we have not just talked things out," muttered Cobalt, rolling to the left as the Igris's blade came hurtling down. "I mean we are both Rune bearers and all."
"So, you want another heart to heart talk with him ?," giggled Violet.
Cobalt grumbled. He tried to talk to the commander before the fight started only to get hit with the flat of his blade, right on the nose, and was sent flying towards the bookcase, causing all the books to fall on him, well a huge pony Latin dictionary to be more specific.Who says words would never hurt.
"My nose is still paining," complained Cobalt, attempting to stab the knight.
"Stop whining like a little foal," said Violet, her tone showing amusement. "You got bigger problems to deal with."
The fight was going nowhere and Cobalt's evasion tactics were getting slower. He used too much of his runic power. Cobalt gritted his teeth. Out of the runes, the rune of perception was the weakest, in terms of power that is. He represented awareness and intelligence meant for planning attacks not getting involved in them. Sure he could fight but his range of foes he could fight only go up to light armoured opponents and not a frickin 3m tall bipedal monster with smoke coming of his body like a rock concert stage effects.
"Private Cobalt !"
Out of the corner of his eye Cobalt saw his Sergeant and squad, staring at him as he fought Igris.
"Dammit, the bunny is out of the bag," muttered Cobalt. His identity of being a bearer has been exposed.
"Should it not be ' the cats out of the bag ' ? "
"Does it really matter ? The better question would be to ask is what are we going to do?. There is no ways I'm leaving Canterlot."
"I understand that your friends are here and this being your home but you are a bearer and you-"

The impact from Igris sword caused Cobalt to fall unconscious before he could even hit the wall.
