Taking a more realistic turn of events for his past, Nate Schmidt returns to play a normal Human In Equestria role, fitted with the weapons he used to fight through demented oppression and a twisted fate.

But in this new world, even his weapons and will to survive can't fill the hole in his heart. With no family left, no friends, and nothing to protect, the human of Equestria remains empty, stained with a blackened heart.

That is, until he was shown kindness by the first Pony he met.
