"They preach that they are kind creatures, but they do nothing but lie. Their words are filled with hatred towards us, despite what they present. They are enemies. Yours, mine, the worlds. You've all heard the stories of the other nations and their troubles with the Equines. They blind us with their colors, their preaching of friendship, and their smiles. The inside of them is as evil as a sin itself.
You all understand the significance of tonight. You all understand what will transpire and what that will mean for us. We must not fail tonight, for if we do the Human race will cease to exist within a short time. You are our last chance. There are no rules in warfare, there are no rules in murder, and your hands will become stained with the blood of the enemy. I want you to look at your hands and feel that you did the right thing.
You are to commit a sin. An act of terror. You understand there is no way, and that is why you were picked. The freedom of this world depends on you. Do not let the deaths of your fellow soldiers go in vain. Do not let the lives the Equestrian's destroyed go without vengeance. Do not let the blood on your hands dry. Do not let that hatred burn out. Do not fail when we need you most.
Eat up and get some rest. You're going to need it for tonight. Good luck."
Traveling up a mountain was a difficult job, but that wasn't going to stop the five men from completing their mission. Their mission was of supreme importance, that of changing the tide of a war that had claimed millions of lives on both sides. Their pain now was going to be worth it in the end. A regular man would curse himself for trying to scale a tough mountain under constant watch of guards, but these men smiled to themselves as they did so.
The cuts on their arms from the rough jagged rocks told them they were getting closer to completing their job. Each stinging pain in their muscles told them they were going to be heroes. Each time their inner thoughts told them what they were doing was wrong, or that this was a dumb idea, was instantly shook away with an attitude drilled into them during training.
They were the best of the best, and they were finally deployed after all their training.
Each man was trained to consider the other man by their code name. To distance their training and this act of sin from their human bodies. Alpha, Beta, Charlie, Delta, and Echo were their names. As basic as the military could get, they were as basic in their function. To complete what they were told to do.
Dressed in black outfits with black balaclava's over their faces, they blended in with the rest of the world. Each weapon they carried was dusted over to prevent shine, and their bullets were marked all in black. They were fighting an enemy which had an advantage so large they couldn't make a single mistake. in the past, plenty of Humans learned sorcery, but it was easily outclassed by the enemy's magic, and the technology in the modern day.
They made it to the top eventually, overlooking a large part of the Canterlot city. They were standing behind the Castle itself, their silhouettes barely able to be made out from the dark sky. Tonight wasn't any other night. Tonight was the perfect night for their job, as Princess Celestia, Princess Luna, Princess Cadance, Princess Twilight Sparkle, and the general of the Crystal Empire, Shining Armor, were going to be present for a ceremony.
A ceremony that was already taking place.
Alpha looked at his men. "The target is Celestia herself, but we've also been instructed to take out the others if possible. If we get the main target, aim for the rest." Three of the men nodded, all except for Delta. He was the only one in the group unsure of what they were doing, constantly questioning the morality of the situation. A pony sympathizer, which made him hated by the rest of the group.
But his skills were too good to let go to waste. They were going to use him until he was useless.
Alpha cocked his head. "You got a problem with that, Delta?"
Delta sighed. "I'm not going to speak on this any further."
Alpha drew his pistol, aiming it right at Delta's head, causing Delta to flinch backwards. The other three men didn't flinch, however. "General Numez understood that you were a sympathizer, and gave us orders to put you down if you put the mission at risk. You'd be helpful, but you aren't needed. So, do you have a problem with the mission, Delta?"
Delta swallowed, shaking his head. He was used to being treated badly since he was the youngest of most of the groups he was in, but this wasn't bullying back in highschool. This was a life or death situation, and he was too scared to stand up to a man with a pistol to his head.
They proceeded to scale down the other side of the mountain, finding themselves near a ridge, overlooking the ceremony area. It was held on a high up white bricked balcony, multiple guards standing guard out of sight. All of the Princess' were in view, along with a few other colorful ponies. Pink, white, yellow, orange, blue. Non-combatants, but the team needed to be wary.
As soon as they crossed over to the ridge, a pony guard spotted them with a light spell of his. The entire team looked over at him, who was petrified and completely still. Delta was closest, but when he hesitated Alpha aimed his pistol and put a bullet between the guards eyes, causing the light to disappear and his body to fall limp on the ground in an uncomfortable position, his neck craned down against his chest.
"If you hesitate again, even for a second, I'll kill you." Alpha growled in Delta's ear as they finally got on the edge of the ridge, overlooking the ceremony area. Delta reluctantly proned next to his team, his rifle out in front of himself. Celestia was in view.
Echo smirked to himself. "It's time to party, Celestia. Don't fuckin' miss, Delta. This is our one chance."
Delta viewed Celestia through his scope, knowing that he had a perfect shot. He could see her smiling, chatting with the other Princess' as happy as could be. He felt something move within his stomach, making him want to throw up. He wasn't okay with anything he was doing, he wasn't okay with any of this at all! He wanted to defect to Equestria as a kid once to see all of the pretty colors.
Yet now here he was, aiming down the scope of the weapon that was going to be used to assassinate the leader of that place. He looked over at Alpha, shaking his head. "T-This 'aint right guys. Assassination is banned within our code, we shouldn't-"
Alpha pressed the barrel of his pistol on his head. "Aim, and fire. If you miss, I pull the trigger, and we'll clean up after your fuckup. Either you get out of this alive, or you die along with Celestia. It's bad enough you're a pony sympathizer, but to refuse doing your job? Your almost as despicable as the pony fucks."
Delta looked through his scope once more, his eyes watering with what he was about to do.
He put the little crosshair right above Celestia's head, breathing slowly.
He shut his eyes as hard as he could, only letting them open for a split second.
He fired.
