Peace and harmony has long since passed in the land of Equestria. Princess Celestia is gone. The sun is no more. Nightmare Moon has won, and darkness now rules over the land. Over the next millennium, Equestria's once peaceful inhabitants have been twisted into grotesque shells of their former selves, their minds broken, their sanity gone.

With hope dwindling with each passing day, the surviving few have since grown desperate, turning to theft, deceit, and murder in order to survive this eternal night. From these survivors, a select few, whose spirits refuse to break, will rise to confront the Dark Princess and end her reign of terror. Surviving the harshness of this desolated Equestria will push their morality and sanity to the very limits, and should they fail, darkness will remain unabated forever
