//-------------------------------------------------------// Celestia's Birthday -by Twilicorn- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// The Birthday Morning //-------------------------------------------------------// The Birthday Morning I grunted, rolling over in my sleep. "Five more minutes?" I mumble, and am met by a heavy thumping over me. "Lulu?" I mutter, rolling my eyes under my eyelids. "Ha~ppy Birthday! Happy Birthday! Today's your special d-a-a-ay!" she begins, and I raise my hooves to my ears. "You've made it to a special age, now on this glorious d-a-a-ay!" "Luna," I start, but am drowned out by her again. "You're turning older, getting bolder! Now you're turning..." she took a deep breath. 'Three thousand!" "Luna," I start again, and this time, I feel her shift to look at me. "What is it, Celly?" "You're the only one who celebrates my birthday," I grumble. "And I've got half a mind to make it illegal!" "Now Celly, are you upset because I sang the special Birthday Song? I know you liked it when mom used to sing it," she teased, and I scowl, rolling over. "Can you get out so I can get dressed?" "Fine, Celly!" she sings again. I hear her skip out of the hall, still singing that stupid birthday song. I wildly kick the sheets off of myself, then open my eyes just in time to see the moon beginning to set. Letting out a Royal Canterlot Yawn, I magically drag myself out of bed. I blink, trying to clear the blur from my vision. Once I can see, I trot into the bathroom, stepping into the over-sized shower and turning it on. I let the warm water steam over me, and cast a simple spell to cover my body in soap. Once the shower has rinsed it off, I step out, magically drying myself off. I open the bathroom door and walk over to the box sitting on by nightstand. Magically opening it, I lift the golden regalia to my hooves and around my neck, finishing it off with a crown. Fiddling with it for a bit, I decide it's square enough and approach the heavy door. Pulling it open is no small feat for the average unicorn, and I know only five beings who can do so. My beloved student, my annoying sister, my pesky nephew, and my newly-wed niece. And of course, myself. This in mind, I was quite shocked to see it pull itself open as I approached it. Ignoring that, I stepped into the hall, in time to be greeted by... confetti? "What is this?" I ask, looking around wildly. To both my sides are two of my Solar Guards, looking slightly amused. I see their uniform gold magic drop two confetti poppers, and they both begin whistling innocently. I snicker myself, then stop. "Good morning, Princess," says one of them, attempting to cover a smile. "Who set you up to this?" I growl, my voice low. "We-we were told not to tell," squeaks the guard on my left. "Well I'm telling you to tell!" I yell. "Y-your sister," he whispers, and I smile. "There's a promotion in for you," I say, shooting him a wink as I skip down the hall. Approaching the Royal Dining Room, I push open the door and continue my skipping. Luna is already seated, but when she sees the malicious smile I have plastered to my skipping body, she slowly stands and begins backing away, opening her wings. "Ce-celly?" she asks, staring at me warily. "Luna, do you know why I don't tell anypony about my birthday?" I ask, my voice a deadly calm. "No," she answers straightly. "Because while you were gone, ponies celebrated it. I was invited to over nine thousand parties! Over NINE THOUSAND!" I yell, using the Royal Canterlot Voice. "Now sister," she starts, trying to approach me. "Don't you 'now sister' me! It's my birthday, and I'll do whatever I damn well please!" I slowly sit down, ignoring the stares I'm receiving from my guards. "Please send off for a very, very large birthday cake," I command. "Now!" I add, as my guards stand there, staring blankly. Suddenly, all five of them take off, crashing into each other comically as they rush towards the kitchen. Luna has sat down across from me, a calm smile on her face. "Now, Celly. I know that it's stressful, but they only do it to be nice. You know that, right?" her voice is mocking. Talking as if she were speaking to a foal that had started complaining about why it took so long between birthdays. "Now Luna," I say, equally mocking. "Would you like me to tell them your birthday?" I ask, my voice dripping sarcasm. "I wouldn't mind in the slightest," she argued, sticking her tongue out. Just at that moment, my birthday cake arrives. I give her one last defiant glare, then delve in, covering my muzzle in sugary sweetness. I ignore the guards staring at me, simply enjoying my birthday. "Now," I say, finishing my cake. "What are we to do today?" "Well, I know you love a good prank," she starts, and I raise a hoof. "Say no more, Luna. Say no more." ~*~*~ Luna and I are covered in black catsuits, sticking to our body as we tiptoe towards Shining Armor, his back turned to us. I hear Luna's thoughts bouncing through my head. 'You ready?' 'More ready than you'll ever be,' I tease. 'Initiate stage one.' Suddenly, my voice, screaming for help, echoes towards him from my bedroom. He runs towards it, preparing to pull it open. Just in time for me to realize he is the sixth pony who can open my door. Shrugging that off, I simply send a small extra locking spell to the door, causing him to spend more time trying to open it. "Guards! Come help me!" he yells, and a few guards run towards him. Soon more join him, until soon he is surrounded by unicorns struggling to open the door Luna and I persist in adding locking spells to. 'Initiate stage two,' I think, and I feel her nod. We both cast a simple covering spell over ourselves, changing ourselves to look like another guard. We stealthily approach Shining Armor, occasionally sharing a glance. Transforming ourselves back, we took the final steps towards him. "How are you?" I asked Shining Armor plainly. He continued his efforts on opening the door. "Well, you see Princess, Princess Celestia is trapped inside, and I fear something has happened!" he exclaimed, and I snickered, waiting for him to realize what he had said. A few moments later, he did, turning to face me. "P-Princess?" he asked, staring at me in shock. "Eeyup," I say in a slow, low voice. Me and Luna share a final look, then take off, running faster than I think I have since I was a filly. My hooves slipped along the waxed floors, until I come crashing into a wall. Luna crashes into me shortly after, and we both have our eyes spinning wildly until we look behind us. A legion of guards are running after us, their hooves falling in uniformed, quick clicks. Luna looks at me, and we both nod, then take off in separate directions. I flap my wings to add to my speed, and soon I'm taking off, flying up and out a window. The guards look out the window at me, their jaws hitting the floor as they see me soaring in artistic loops. "Now gentlestallions, we know its not polite to leave your mouth open that far in public," I tease, then swoop away, letting the wind ruffle my feathers.
