Face Off Part 2: Rise of the Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon

"This is getting intense, fast." Rainbow says.

"Yes, but don't forget Rainbow, Yugi beat Kaiba once before." Bakura says.

"Trust me, I remember. If he beat him once, he can do it again." Rainbow responds.

"I don't understand. Kaiba claims he's changed, but he's not acting like it." Fluttershy says to Tea. Up in a tower, Bandit Keith watches the action.

"Man, look at these two jokers." Keith says to himself. "They're really going at it. Which is fine with me. I got the best seas in the house for scoping out the competition. Namely Yugi, should I have to face him." Yugi realizes that Kaiba's trying to finish him as quickly as possible, which isn't like him because Kaiba normally enjoys toying with his opponents almost as much as he enjoys winning. Yugi remembers that the last time they squared off, Kaiba spent half the match messing with him, but this time he got right down to business.

"What's the matter, Yugi? You look a bit worried." Kaiba says. "Finally realizing that, without the mighty Exodia cards in your deck, you don't stand a chance against me?"

"I won't need Exodia to beat you, Kaiba." Yami Yugi retorts as Kaiba retracts his Duel Disc.

"If I keep drawing cards like this, you will." Kaiba says after he draws. "And I'll start my turn by activating the De-Spell card. This card can destroy any magic card set on either side of the field, and that's a loss I'm quite sure you can't afford, Yugi."

"Oh no! My cards!" Yami Yugi says in shock as the De-Spell card obliterates his Swords of Revealing Light card."

"Looks like you won't be using your Swords of Revealing Light anytime soon." Kaiba says. "That is a tough loss, Yugi. After all, your swords could've paralyzed my Genie for three turns, but I guess now you'll lose three turns sooner.

"Don't count on it, Kaiba." Yami Yugi scoffs as he retracts his Duel Disc.

"That genie is gonna be real trouble, because as long as he has that lamp to hide in, Yugi can't touch him." Bakura says with worry.

"Isn't there a way to destroy the lamp?" Rarity asks. Taking inspiration from Rarity's words, Yugi draws his Mystic Box card and plans to use it to do what Rarity suggested.

"My turn! I call upon the Dark Magician!" Yugi says as he spins his Duel Disc.

"I'm surprised you put your magician at risk, Yugi, when you have no idea what I have in store for you." Kaiba says.

"Then perhaps before I attack, I should see what you're planning for myself." Yami Yugi retorts as he activates a card. "Behold my magic Eye of Truth! So called because the Eye of Truth knows all, sees all, and it will reveal every card in your hand." Kaiba is shocked as his cards are revealed. A second De-Spell, a second Mystic Lamp, Saggi the Dark Clown, and to the shock of everyone, one of his Blue-Eyes White Dragons. "What's this? You've got a Blue-Eyes White Dragon in your hand but you haven't played it?"

"You can always count on Kaiba to have a Blue-Eyes White Dragon or three up his sneaky, slimy sleeves." Joey says.

"They're his favorite cards, so no wonder." Pinkie points out.

"But three Blue-Eyes White Dragons at once with no way of slowing, paralyzing or stopping them?" Rarity asks. "Sure, he can beat them individually with some sort of tactic but taking out all three at once could only be done with Exodia." Yugi wonders what Kaiba could be up to, as it's REALLY unlike Kaiba to not play the Blue-Eyes White Dragon when it's in his hand. However, Kaiba knows that Yugi may have caught a glimpse of the Blue-Eyes in his hand, but doubts that even he could guess his overall plan as it was never done before; taking all three Blue-Eyes White Dragons and fusing them together to summon an incredible creature of unsurpassed power: The Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon.

"So, Yugi, the mundane magic of your wimpy Eye of Truth allowed you a sneak peek at the cards in my hand, but what good does it do you?" Kaiba asks. "The fact still remains that your Dark Magician can't do anything against my genie, La Jinn...not while he has his lamp to protect him."

"Then I'll extinguish it!" Yami Yugi retorts. "Thought the magic of my Mystic Box!" Soon, both boxes begin to materialize. "Now, watch closely, Kaiba, as first my Dark Magician is sealed within the first box."

"It's a trick!" Kaiba shouts.

"It's much more than a mere magic trick, as you're about to find out, Kaiba." Yami Yugi responds. "Now watch and be amazed as the first Mystic Box is skewered!" Right on cue, swords plunge into the box where the Dark Magician was placed. "But have I destroyed my own Dark Magician? Or have I magically extinguished your ancient lamp, just as I promised?" As Yami Yugi talks, the first box opens to reveal the Ancient Lamp, pierced and Shish Kabobbed.

"You took away my genie's only source of safety!" Kaiba says in shock.

"And the magic's half done, Kaiba." Yami Yugi continues. "For my Dark Magician emerges from the second Mystic Box...unharmed." Right on cue, the second Mystic Box opens to reveal the Dark Magician, safe and sound.

"But how?" Kaiba asks, but the Dark Magician wags his finger, as if saying 'I can't tell you that.'

"You know a good magician never reveals his secrets." Yami Yugi says while Pinkie applauds, as she loves the Dark Magician's magic tricks. "Now, Dark Magician, Dark Magic Attack!" In seconds, La Jinn is no more.

"No! My genie!" Kaiba says as his life points drop to 800.

"Just as you said, Kaiba. The Ancient Lamp may have protected your great La Jinn, but once it was destroyed, your genie was no match for my Dark Magician." Yami Yugi says.

"Your little magic show may have been entertaining, but let's not lose perspective." Kaiba says. "You know I've got a Blue-Eyes waiting in the wings, and I know you have nothing that can stand against it."

"You know nothing." Yami Yugi responds. "The Eye of Truth showed me your hand, not the other way around."

"I don't need to see your hand." Kaiba retorts. "But I think you need to be taught a lesson, and I'll be happy to make my next play painfully instructive." Kaiba knows that by combining his weakest monster, Saggi the Dark Clown, with his Crush Card Virus trap, he'll be able to turn the duel around and infect Yugi's life points. "Behold...Saggi the Dark Clown!" Soon, said monster appears, but Yugi has no clue that he's infected with the Crush Card Virus.

"Saggi the Dark Clown?" Yami Yugi asks, clearly puzzled, as he was expecting Kaiba to summon his Blue-Eyes. And Yugi also knows that he didn't see any trap cards in his hand when the Eye of Truth was activated, but rationalizes that Kaiba may have drawn some new ones. Therefore, the only way to know for sure is to attack. However, he decides not to attack with the Dark Magician. He retracts his Duel Disc and draws. And what he gets is Gaia the Fierce Knight, a creature that mopped the floor with Saggi when he and Kaiba first dueled, since Saggi had the Negative Energy Generator giving him a power boost. "This monster beat your Dark Clown before, and he will defeat Saggi once again. Gaia the Fierce Knight in attack mode!" Soon, said creature appears and attacks Saggi, but it springs the trap. "Your Dark Clown has been vanquished, Kaiba!"

"Vanquished and sacrificed are two very different things, Yugi. Look again." Kaiba says as the Crush Card Virus quickly begins to spread.

"What's happening?" Yami Yugi asks.

"Something's wrong here. What card did Kaiba just activate?" Twilight asks. But before she can get an answer, Gaia is destroyed.

"Not just Gaia was destroyed, Yugi." Kaiba says, and right on cue, the Dark Magician is destroyed as well.

"The Dark Magician, too?!" Spike asks in shock.

"What have you done, Kaiba?" Yami Yugi asks.

"It's really quite ingenious, actually." Kaiba says. "Knowing that you couldn't resist attacking my Dark Clown, I infected him with the Crush Card Virus." This brings a look of shock to Twilight.

"A Crush Card? You had a Crush Card in your hand?!" Twilight asks in shock.

"It seems that you know it all too well, Twilight." Kaiba says. "But yes, I did. You see, by destroying the infected Saggi, or any monster with 1000 attack points or less that was infected by it, Yugi released the Crush Card Virus--a virus that is so highly contagious to Duel Monsters that even as I speak these words, it is infecting all but the weakest cards in his precious dueling deck."

"No, my cards!" Yami Yugi says in shock as all his powerful monsters are infected.

"The only monsters unaffected by the Crush Card Virus are those with an attack power weaker than 1500." Kaiba explains. "Looks like I've broken the heart of your cards, Yugi."

"Well played, but it will take more than a virus to win this duel, Kaiba!" Yami Yugi retorts.

"Yes, I expect that it will, Yugi." Kaiba responds. "Actually, I'm looking forward to subjecting you to a wide array of debilitating cards."

"Looks like Kaiba can talk the talk and walk the walk, because Yugi fell for that Crush Card trap hook, line and sinker." Applejack says with worry.

"But Yugi's a much better duelist than he was when he and Kaiba first dueled." Rainbow chimes in. "After all, he beat and took Weevil Underwood's title of Regional Champion.

"Yes, but last time, Kaiba didn't have a Crush Card to force Yugi to play magic and trap cards and weak monsters." Bakura points out. Up in the tower, while the others are still hoping that he'd win, Bandit Keith watches Yugi squirm.

"This is turning out to be quite a show." Keith says to himself. "All I'm really missing is a hotdog and a bag of popcorn. Oh, well, from the looks of things, this duel isn't gonna last long enough for me to enjoy them anyway. Besides, getting the lowdown on that Yugi chump's dueling strategy is plenty for my mind to snack on."

"Your turn, Yugi." Kaiba says. "Let's see how your disease-ridden deck serves you now."

"You may have infected the body of my deck, Kaiba, but it's the Heart of the Cards that will see me through this contamination." Yami Yugi retorts. He then draws the Summoned Skull, but knows he can't summon it thanks to the Crush Card.

"Face it, Yugi. To continue playing in this duel, you'll have to serve up your weakest monsters." Kaiba says. So, Yugi sets a weak creature in defense mode.

"Silver Fang, in defense mode!" Yami Yugi says at last as said monster appears. "His attack points are low enough to make him immune to your virus. Now it's your turn."

"Ironic that a wolf will be the first of your sacrificial lambs, but so be it." Kaiba says as he draws his second Blue-Eyes, knowing that when he draws the third one, nothing will keep him from winning with one earth shattering blast, defeating Yugi for good. So, to pass the time while he waits for his third Blue-Eyes, he decides to clear the field of Silver Fang with his Battle Ox. "Battle Ox, awaken and let loose the dogs of war! Axe Slam Attack!" In no time, Silver Fang is slaughtered. "Looks like your rabid wolf cub has been put down." Yugi's friends are clearly worried, though Twilight, Tea and Fluttershy are confident that he'll win, as no one has ever beaten him in a game of Duel Monsters before. "Your pitiful defense can't even withstand the crude assaults of my Battle Ox! How do you expect to protect your life points when your defenses are demolished and you have nothing left to shield you against my even more powerful monsters? I guess we'll find out soon enough." Yugi knows that Kaiba's right, as the Crush Card forces him to summon only his weakest creatures. "You should accept your fate for now, Yugi. After all, you'll have the rest of your entire life to brood over this defeat." However, Yugi chooses to not give in to Kaiba's taunting and let him beat him and stop him from saving his grandpa. Yugi then draws his Griffore.

"I summon Griffore!" Yami Yugi says at last as said monster appears. "Let's see you deal with this attack, Kaiba."

"A Griffore. I think you've made a grave miscalculation, Yugi. His pathetic defenses are no match for my Battle Ox." Kaiba responds.

"Whoever said that I was going to be playing him in defense mode, Kaiba?" Yami Yugi asks.

"What do you mean?" Kaiba asks with worry.

"I'm attacking with my Griffore...with the help of my Horn of the Unicorn." Yami Yugi answers. "Magic Lightning Attack!" IN seconds, the Battle Ox is destroyed and Kaiba's life points drop to 600. "Your Battle Ox has been destroyed."

"Hey, Rainbow. I'm feeling a comeback in the works." Joey says with a smile.

"Good show, Yugi. That play was brilliant at this critical juncture." Rarity says.

"They're right, that move was impressive, Yugi, using that combo attack to combat the perils of both my Crush Card Virus and my Battle Ox." Kaiba admits. "But I'm afraid there are some hazards in my deck that are simply inevitable. It's my turn now." Kaiba draws, and finally gets his third Blue-Eyes in his hand. Meaning all he'd need is a Polymerization card to fuse all three dragons together. "Prepare yourself for ultimate annihilation, Yugi. But first, I'm invoking the Gift of the Mystical Elf. You see, Yugi...if there's one thing in my last match with you, it's that you have an uncanny ability for snatching victory from the jaws of defeat. But I don't intend to give you that opportunity today. Which is why I've activated Gift of the Mystical Elf to reinforce my life points...by 300."

"That card can only increase your life points for every monster on the field, and that means with just Griffore on the field, Kaiba just gave himself a fighting chance." Twilight explains. Yugi, as surely Twilight had noticed, Kaiba was dueling more methodically than the last time they squared off. Every move he made was so precise up to that point, meaning that he was leaving nothing to chance. And it seems to Yugi that Kaiba viewed the duel as a battle of life and death. Kaiba retracts his Disc, reassuring himself that he will rescue Mokuba, and places his next card on the Disc.

"Behold...the mighty Blue-Eyes White Dragon!" Kaiba says at last as his signature monster appears. "Now, Yugi, both this duel and your fate belong to me. Take flight, Blue-Eyes White Dragon!" Soon, the powerful beast takes to the sky. "White Lightning Attack!" From high above, the dragon attacks, destroying Griffore, and bringing Yugi's life points to 400. "Already my Blue-Eyes has you cowering. And this is only the beginning. Soon, you will know what fear is." Yugi draws his next card.

"I don't fear your Blue-Eyes, Kaiba." Yami Yugi retorts as he summons his next monster. "I've defeated three of them before. And with my Giant Soldier of Stone guarding me, I'll manage to defeat your dragons again."

"I'm afraid you're mistaken." Kaiba responds as he draws just the card he needs. "Yugi, when you battled my Blue-Eyes before, they were three separate dragons--formidable, yes, but not invincible." Kaiba retracts his Duel Disc to set his plan in motion. "But now I've found a way to merge their power, combine their attack points to create...a monster with power beyond imagining!" Kaiba spins his Duel Disc and begins his plan. "Now I create a Duel Monster without peer...with attack force so great that no monster can stand against him." Soon, everyone sees the silhouette of Kaiba's new beast, and are in shock, awe, terror and everything in between as the monster is revealed to be a three-headed Blue-Eyes. "I create, the Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon!" Yugi and the others realize that this behemoth was the reason Kaiba didn't play his Blue-Eyes at first.

"Holy smokes! That thing has to have a power level of 12 with an attack strength of 4500!" Spike said in shock. Twilight was in awe, Rainbow was in disbelief, Fluttershy and Pinkie were both terrified, and Rarity just out right fainted.

"Yugi Muto, there's no escape. Nothing can save you now." Kaiba says after a triumphant laugh.

"I'd hate to say it, but Yugi may have to eat his words when he said he wouldn't need Exodia to win." Rainbow says with worry. "Especially if Kaiba was setting him up for that King Ghidorah look-alike this whole time!" Even Bandit Keith was impressed.

"Yugi is done for. Kaiba had that little twerp on the ropes, and now this ultimate Blue-Eyes is gonna knock him out of the ring." Keith says to himself. While Tea hopes that Yugi will make a comeback, Yugi knows that Kaiba's strategy was brilliant, as all of Kaiba's move led to that very moment.

"Yugi, how I savor this moment." Kaiba says. "This is the moment I've been waiting for ever since you handed me my first and only Duel Monsters defeat. Prepare yourself to see the power of my creature unleashed. Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, Neutron Blast Attack!" In seconds, the Giant Soldier of Stone is turned to dust. "You're lucky your Giant Soldier of Stone was in defense mode."

"He's right, if it wasn't, Yugi would've lost all his life points." Twilight says with a sigh of relief. But Yugi knows he's in trouble, as the Giant Soldier of Stone was the last formidable defense he had.

"My Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon atomized your creature to dust, Yugi." Kaiba says. "You know you have nothing to stand against it. You should concede." Yugi pauses as he draws, thinking that maybe he should, but his friends suggest otherwise.

"Yugi, remember what you're fighting for!" Twilight shouts.

"Tap into the Heart of the Cards, just like your grandpa taught you, me, Twilight and her friends!" Joey adds. "I know you won't lose, nor will you let your grandpa down!" Yugi then remembers what Pegasus did to start this whole thing, stealing his grandpa's soul. Yugi then continues his draw.

"No, Kaiba. I will never surrender to the likes of you!" Yami Yugi says at last.

"That's it! That's the kind of determination I expect from you." Kaiba says. "Fight on. Gather every last bit of your strength, Yugi. I'd prefer to take you down when you're fighting your hardest." Yugi knows that everything rides on the last card he's about to draw: the duel, the tournament, his grandpa's soul, and as hopeless as it seems, he still believes in the Heart of the Cards. With the mental and moral support of his friends, Yugi prepares to draw. "It comes to this. so draw your card and face your fate." With Yugi putting all his faith in his deck and all his trust in the Heart of the Cards, believing that it will guide him, he draws what could be the final card of the duel.

"Let's finish this, Kaiba!" Yami shouts.
