Chapter 3: Old Bonds

Previous Chapter

Cheap family dinners were a great place for people coming back from a party.
People never asked why you look like shit, food was cheap and full of fat, on top of that, this specific dinner had one of the only people that Gilda still considered a friend, working here.
It wasn’t the worst she ever felt though, sure, she was somewhat bruised and had a blackeye, but she looked worse before.
Her eyes wandered slowly through the dinner, stopping for a moment on Gabby, sitting behind the counter with a bored look on her face.
Gilda looked at the clock on the wall and frowned, she was supposed to meet Anon here half an hour ago, but it would seem that he stood her up.
Why did I even bother…” she shook her head, reading herself to get up, when she suddenly heard the doorbell ringing as someone entered.
Gall entered the dinner looking like someone who just left a freshly dug grave. His skin was much paler, unkempt hair tied into a ponytail and eyes covered by round sunglasses. He also moved somewhat more sluggishly. But he did seem to spot Gilda and walked towards her.
Sorry I’m late.” he grumbled and sat in front of her.
“You look like shit. How the fuck that happened? You seemed pretty spry yesterday.” she asked and took a sip of her water.
“ My stand burns through my energy pretty quickly, but I usually can keep going thanks to adrenaline.” he said and rested his head on his arm. “I told you I used it a lot when we fought.”
Gilda nodded.
Aight Dweeb. Thanks to you I have a blackeye now, so I’m gonna order us something, but you pay.” she said getting up. “I’ll get you something with a lot of sugar. You look like you need it.” with that, she walked towards the counter leaving Anon alone.

Gall decided to use this moment and check some things on the phone. Mainly a map of Canterlot, trying to remember in which places he saw those dots on the map yesterday. It looked somewhat different with more detail, but it seemed one place was near the local high school. That would probably be his next target, if not for the fact it would be weird for him to hang around a school. While he wasn’t sure that Gilda wasn’t still attending, he assumed she didn’t. But maybe she knew someone that still did.
“Nah… that won’t work… she probably doesn’t walk to talk to them anymore…” he murmured looking up at a ceiling fan.
Soon enough Gilda came back to the table carrying two cups of black coffee.
There you go Dweeb.” she said putting one in front Anon who raised his eyebrow and took off his sunglasses.
I thought I gave you my name so you wouldn’t call me Dweeb.” he said. She only smirked as a response and took a sip.
Gall shook his head and added a few spoons of sugar and mixed it around for a bit before taking a sip.
“, Whatever, that’s not the point now. You called this power a stand, yes?” she asked.
Yes, that’s basically how most people I know called it. So you never named yours?” Anon asked, taking another sip of the coffee.
No, never met anyone with something similar so I never knew I should name it.” Gilda answered pointing at Gall with a spoon. “What did you name yours?”
“「Nostradamus」” Anon looked towards the spoon, then towards Gilda herself. “We should name yours. What aboutAggressive Girl?” he proposed now pointing his spoon at her.
She leaned forward, frowning at him still holding her spoon, before suddenly giving him a coy smile and leaned backwards.
Cool name, I like it.” she grinned at him.

The next hour or so the two were consumed by an idle chit chat, Gilda even showed off some of her tattoos to Anon, overall a great way to spend a morning together. After some time they left the dinner with two takeout coffees.
Anyway, why did you want to meet with me again?” Gilda asked.
Well. Explain one thing and ask something else.” Gall took off his sunglasses. “Try to look at a thing on my left eye, right beneath the iris.” He opened his eyelids more with his fingers and bended slightly over, so Gilda could see into his eye easier.
She squinted and moved her face closer to Anon’s face.
Clairvoyance…” she murmured and moved away. “You have a fucking tatoo on your eye?!”
Anon shook his head.
This is the reason I have my stand. This is a… Eye of the Saint. A part of a corpse from a Saint which granted me Nostradamus. This is why I’m here. There are at least three other corpse parts in this town and I have to find them. I want your help with that.”
Gilda just shook her head.
And why would I do that? I don’t owe you nothing.” she said, her face taking on a serious look. Gall just put on his sunglasses back and shrugged.
I just like you, you know the town, you’re really strong. That’s the main reason, there’s also the fact that you have a great sense of style and that is always appreciated. But you are right, you don’t owe me anything, from your point of view, there’s no reason for you to help me.”
Gilda took a deep breath and crossed arms on her chest. She looked downwards, looking deep in thought.
All right Dweeb. I’ll help you.” she said and looked at Gall. He was about to say something, but she put up her arm to silence her. “On two conditions.” Anon nodded slowly, listening to her carefully. “You’ll owe me one and you’ll not be able to refuse it, that’s one. And two, if I ever decide that I don’t want to do it anymore, I can just leave and you won’t be able to stop me. No guilt tripping bullshit. No begging, nothing like that.”

It was Anon’s turn to take a deep breath, but he nodded.
Very well. I agree to those terms, you’ll help me, in exchange for one favour and being able to leave if you wish.”
Gilda relaxed a bit and put her hands into the pockets. Thankfully, the tension was somewhat relieved.
Aight, so what are we doing to find this… corpse.” she asked as they both started walking again.
“One of the parts is in local highschool, Canterlot High I think. At least it is somewhere in the building. That’s the easiest one for now.” Gilda nodded hearing the answer. She took out her phone and started scrolling through some stuff.
“I assume you want to find a nice and easy way in? I can do that. I know one girl. I don’t like her much anymore, but it doesn’t mean I can’t use her.” she grinned. “Give me your number and I’ll call you later, we’ll probably have to hang out with her and her dumb friends, but it’ll be worth it. We'll find that corpse of yours.”
Anon agreed to Gilda’s plan. It’s a good thing she said, she’ll call later, because now, he probably wouldn’t be able to do it. Still tired from using his power yesterday.

True to her word, Gilda called the next day, she was also right with having to hang out with her friend. Apparently, they were still in highschool and while Anon wouldn’t do that by himself, if Gilda knew them, he would be just basically seen as her “extra” or something like that.
They were to meet after school on Monday, around 5 pm and this time, Anon put more effort to actually meet with Gilda on time. Leaving much earlier, since he still didn’t know the town layout too well. Soon enough however, he found her sitting on a small bench, smoking again, with a rather displeased look on her face.
You’re waiting for long?” Gall asked sitting next to her to what she jumped up a bit and looked at him shocked.
“Holy fuck Dweeb. How the fuck did you sneak up on me?” she asked, still looking like she was recently jumpscared.
I have many skills. Looking into possible futures to see how to fight someone is just one of them.” he gave her a coy look. She just scoffed and got back to smoking, looking annoyed.
“By the way, Gall. The shit with the tennis ball, is this also the stand?” she asked after a moment.
“No. That’s something that is something that is taught in my family. My great, great...something, grandfather was part of the Royal Guard in Naples. That’s one of the techniques that they used, developed a long time ago. It’s kinda a thing in my family line now, that they teach the eldest kid how to use this technique. It’s called a Spin and trust me, you ain’t seen nothing yet.”

A blue cabriolet stopped in front of you and Gilda, with some rainbow haired girl behind the wheel, sitting behind her was some pink haired girl that looked like she was about to die from fear.
That’s our ride…” Gilda murmured under her breath and got up, putting on a more cheeky and somewhat cheerful expression while throwing out her cigarette. “Sup Dash. How’s life been for ya?” they fistbumped and Gilda walked towards the opposite side and jumped inside. “Good of you to keep shotgun clear for me.” Anon walked towards the car.
Not gonna introduce me?”
Yeah yeah, that’s Gall. Gall this is Rainbow Dash.” then she pointed to the pink haired girl. “Dunno what’s her name.”
“That’s Fluttershy. Nice to meet you dude.” Said Rainbow Dash. You nodded towards them.
Pleasure’s all mine.” with that Anon got into the car, next to the Flutter girl. She did flutter all right. And she was shy, so her name was fitting. “So, where are we going?”
T...the mall…” it was barely a whisper, but Anon still managed to hear it.
Let’s go! Gilda, you can control the radio!” Rainbow Dash seemed really excited with the prospect of hanging out.

Gall was expecting something much worse, like having to drag their clothes they bought behind them or something, instead, they’ve spent most of the time in music’s shop looking at guitars.
While Gall wasn’t into playing, he still liked it very much and since they also had some records in here, he had something to do. Sadly, that was only most of the time. They still wanted to do some clothes shopping, which meant Anon had to wait for them to change and give them his opinion.
This didn’t last for long however as soon enough the entire group was sitting in a dinner, waiting for their food.
So, Dashie, you got what I asked you for?” the atmosphere suddenly thickened, the cheerful talk replaced by stern looks as Anon was sipping on his coke.
“Yeah… but you promised you’ll explain to me why you need that?” said Rainbow seriously to what Gilda sighed.
“When I was still a student there, the PE teacher took my goddamn bracelet and I never got it back, and I really want it. It was a gift. And I know for a fact that this sleezy fuck will not give it back because he hates me.” she said, gritting through her teeth.
Well all right… I get it… but I… I mean we’re going to go with you. To help you guys.” said Rainbow. Much to apparent dismay of Fluttershy and Gilda.
Look, it’s sweet of you that you want to help your friend in something but, trust us, we don’t need any help.” Anon said after a moment. Gilda did look at him, but he just glared daggers at her.
“Look dude, I know gilda for a long time, and I’m going to help her whether you like it or not.
Kurwa…” left Anon’s lips as he took a sip of his coke. It was barely audible, but Fluttershy still looked at him. “Just don’t get in our way.” he said, cursing to himself mentally. This was not part of the plan.
