A thick fog covers the ground as the bright full moon filling the sky sends chills down her spine. Why was she here, didn't she leave? The long lines of houses seemed to stretch on and on. So in that moment Starlight did the only thing she could think to do and started walking. Far above a astral mare watched her a neutral but serious expression conveying her contempt for the mare walking below. Twilight had told the two rulers what had transpired and while unsure Celestia had been trusting enough to give Twilight the chance at a reformation. Luna was however much more hesitant about this 'Starlight Glimmer'. The luner alicorn would not trust so easily especially if half of what was told was true. Luna would test the unicorn and show no hesitation in doing so at a swift pace. After a few minutes of walking she was stopped by something. A new sound beyond her own steps. Infront of her at the corner of the next house stepped out a mare. Her mane braided into two a bright wide smile plastered on her face. Starlight's eyes widened.. "Wa- Twilight! Why are you here?!" "I'm here to welcome you home mistress." RRRRIIINNNGGGG!!! RRRRIIIINNGGGG!!! SMASH!! “Ohhhhhh!” A hoof slaps the screaming alarm clock as a long yawn persists from under the mass of sheets. The unicorn cracks open an annoyed eye. Slowly Starlight rises, the sheet falling off exposing her body to the chill the room retained. Somehow that always seemed to stay despite the castle heating. "What was that?" She thinks as a dull throb eminates from her head. Looking over Starlight gazes at the remains of the clock. Her eyes immediately shoot open in shock and fear... She’s late! "Crap crap crap" Starlight exclaims jumping out of bed as if it was on fire. Her questions forgotten. Starlight runs down the vast castle halls as fast ad her legs can carry her. How could she have been so out of it last night to set her alarm wrong? Twilight wasn’t going to be happy. And ooh was she right about that.... When Starlight finally arrived at the castle library Twilight was working but not hard enough for her to not notice the door open and a nervous unicorn enter. Twilight scowled turning to face her. "Starlight, it's about time!" Starlight freezes in place as her mentors voice echos. Twilight storms up to her student getting muzzle to muzzle. "You were suppose to be here over an hour ago, Where the fuck were you!" Starlight takes a deep breath before answering. "Twilight I overslept, I know you want me here early and not only did I set my clock wrong, I didn't take you your time or your patience into consideration, I'm sorry.." The silence after her answer hung in the air causing Starlight's chest to tighten in fear as if she just insulted Celestia herself. Twilight backs up a few steps and takes a deep breath calming herself. "Fine" Twilight says begrudgingly accepting Starlight's answer. "So here is what's going on Starlight. My old foalsitter and sister in law Princess Cadence is due to give birth any day." Twilight grabs a piece of paper from the table behind her. "What I need from you is to help out a few of my friends so they have breathing room in their schedules before then. She begins walking back and forth infront. "So while i deal with some paperwork today I need you to handle that. Think your up to the task?" Twilight questions as she proceeds to the door looking back at her student. "Definitely" Starlight states with confidence a small grin adorning her face. But just one more thing?" Starlight asks stopping Twilight in her tracks. "Oh?" Twilight asks one eyebrow raised in curiosity. "And what might that be?" Starlight rubs the back if her head nervously. "I just wanted to ask real quick.. umm when, when are we going back to the village. You know to talk to them and.." "Not for awhile Starlight." Twilight starts turning around again. "The princess's decided to keep you close to them and us incase sonething were to... change in regards to your mentality." Starlight looked away as Twilight began to leave again but not before giving some parting words to the unicorn. "I hope your truely ready this may be the only chance you get! Your first stop is Fluttershy's cottage near the everfree she'll take over once you get there, good luck!" "you'll need it." Twilight whisper was heard unbeknownst to the alicorn. Starlight looked to the door where her mentor had just exited the room wondering what fresh hell she had gotten herself into this time. For Starlight Ponyville was just fine with the shops and stands in the marketplace near the center of town. She could deal with the cold additude Twilight gave her, she could deal with the dreams she couldn't remember. Starlight could even deal with the seemingly random monster attacks during important events. What she couldn't deal with was the ponies themselves who were currently putting her in a very uncomfortable position. Thou thanks to Twilight her actions were well known all over Equestria and by the ponies even in a small rural area like this she supposed it was to be expected, especially when said town is in the figurative and literal shadow of Canterlot. News travels fast. But it didn't make the whispers easier to listen too. "What does Twilight see in her?" "Shouldn't she be in a cage somewhere?" Starlight's ears were pinned themselves down as she tries to ignore the whispering ponies all around. But she isn't that lucky today. "Ohh my friend left me, Waaahhh Hah!" said one mare walking infront of her. Her hooves rubbing under eyes mocking Starlight. "What a little foal" another said blatantly as she passed. Foal.... That one word seemed to echo through her mind and into her veins. Foal... Foal..! Foal!!! Starlight froze in the middle of the street. A single tear streamed down her face as she took a shakey breath. The memories of a time long past starting to slither back to the forefront of her mind. . . No! Starlight screams mentally No Starlight don't..don't think about thise days she thought to herself.Those days are over they can't and don't affect you anymore, your stronger now. . . . Right? Soon enough Starlight arrived at Fluttershy's cottage and she was a tad nervous Fluttershy was really the only one to see her crueler side when at the village. If she knew anything at that moment Starlight knew she wasn't going to like this. A million thoughts went through her mind as she walked ever closer to the front door. It seemed as Ice had begun to collect in her veins and a chill ran up Starlight's spine dispite the warm summer weather around her. Her hoof raised to knock on the door. .. Knock! Knock! Starlight stood there her eyes looking towards the ground as her thoughts began to take shape in her head. What if Fluttershy was angry or scared of her would she tell Twilight? Would she tell the princess'? Stop stop deep breathes in and out. Starlight thought as her panicked mind began to run inhale, exhale everything will be okay it will be fine. 'creak' the door slowly opened. Twilight sat at her desk papers strewn about. She had taken Starlight as her student only with great difficulty. Her fellow princess's were very much nervous and or down right opposed to the option. The look on Luna's face was not going to be forgotten by the young alicorn anytime soon. If you were to say Twilight wasn't nervous about she wouldn't say you had good jokes. In truth she was extremely nervous. Not only about the prospect of having a student herself but also about Starlight's potential danger. Twilight saw that for herself. A still relatively young unicorn going head to head with an alicorn?! And keeping up not only in a physical but magical fight! Twilight hoped Starlight would try if only for awhile to see things her way. Oh, if only things were that simple. Twilight grimaced at the royal seal on the page. Celestia, yes Princess Celestia wanted to meet Starlight personally. The letter read as such... My Dearest Twilight In regards of what transpired just over a month ago between your new student Starlight Glimmer and yourself I've come to the decision (after consulting with Luna) that we would like to meet with her personally in Canterlot. We would like to meet her after Cadence has her foal (sone time in the next month would be preferred). However this timeframe is not required but for your earliest convenience. In regards to her magical strength we would like her to have a nullification ring on while in Canterlot. (A precautionary measure I'm sure you as well as she will understand). We hope this letter finds you well. We shall see you soon Your Friend and Mentor Princess Celestia. As Twilight finishes reading the letter again she deeply once more as a light ache makes itself known in her frontal lobe. Things just keep getting better and better. At least it's not the negotiations between the three of them over Starlight. Now that was a real headache. Two Weeks Prior "Twilight are you sure of this?" Celestia asked her tone holding nothing but genuine concern regarding the topic of this meeting. Twilight gave her mentor a small smile "Yes Princess I'm sure of my decision". Celestia gave another look. "Twilight It's not that-" The dining room door suddenly burst open to reveal a calm but clearly aggitated Luna. Her eyes were focused on them. "Twilight Sparkle is what I've heard true? That thou wishes to take this Starlight Glimmer as your student?" "That I do Luna" Twilight responded as the Luna and Twilight locked eyes. If Twilight has learned one thing about Luna it's that she doesn't back down easy. So if you want something that Luna doesn't like you need to show your serious in one of very few ways. Eye contact is one of those few ways. "What praytell will you be doing with this Starlight Glimmer?" Luna asked suspicious as she approached and sat across from Twilight. From there things went some what smoothly besides Luna insisting constant surveillance and magical resraints. Something that Twilight found disturbing. There was something about Celestia during the meeting that Twilight had noticed ever so subtly. It was as if she had somehow known Starlight from somewhere. Before Twilight could dwell further Spike entering the room caught her attention. "Oh!" Twilight exclaimed "hello Spike what brings you here?" Spike looked confused until rolling his eyes and points to the clock above Twilight's desk. Looking up she sees the time. 1:37pm had it really been that long? Twilight sighed before bringing the papers together into a stack and getting up. After a brief stretch the two head for the kitchen. Lunch wasn't going to eat itself. In Canterlot Celestia gave a small tired sigh. Court was as boring as it ever was. The noble before her kept prataling on about some kids and his house. She didn't know, she stopped caring ten minutes ago. But regardless her mind was preoccupied with other matters. She still had a meeting with the newly certified leader of the river union and Cadence was still due any day. Worrying at this point was in her nature. Looking at the clock she saw the time and called for recess. What was she so worried for? Things would turn out fine Starlight isn't like her. If only Celestia could believe her own lies. She turned towards her personal study. Telling the guards noone but her sister may disturb her she entered and locked the door behind her. After laying qn additional sheid around the room she walked up to her bookshelf. Pulling the third book from the right on the third shelf just out unseen gears began to engage and unlock. Behind the bookshelf lay a small safe inbeded within the wall. Celestia put in a six digit code and it opened. Inside lay a stack of files some contingency plans others closely guarded secrets spanning centuries. One file held her interest as she extracted it. The Heavens Light Rebellion Celestia stared down at the file held within her magic. She knew this day would come she knew Starlight would come back. Celestia had hoped her efforts 20 years ago would keep things as they were... however even she knew these things always had a chance to become reality. No matter how careful she was. Opening the file she shuffles threw the information before her focus came to one name. Date: 5/16/984 Subject- Aurora Glimmer Status:Imprisoned Crime/s :Magical Rebellion. [-16 counts] :Destruction of Property. [-8 Counts] :Public Endangerment. [-75 Counts] :Attacking the Royal Family. [-3 Counts] Sentence : Banishment Conducted by Princess Celestia of Equestria effective immediately. Celestia finshed reviewing the file with a grimace adorning her face. Did she dare tell Twilight about what really transpired all those years ago with her new student? Something not even Luna knew? Celestia wasn't sure if she could handle the truth. Putting the file back and locking the safe once more Celestia dissipated the shield and looked at the clock. She could think this over more later she needed to get back to work. With that Princess Celestia started her walk back to her duties her mind still conflicted with what the future may hold. Back in Ponyville Twilight and Spike happily ate their lunch in the kitchen in relative silence. But it would not remain silent. "Twilight?"Spike asked breaking the almost dead silence of the room. Twilight looked at him over her sandwich "Why are you so harsh with Starlight?" At the end of the question Twilight briefly froze as if slapped by the dragon. She hadn't thought he had cared so this was something Twilight wasn't prepared for. And it showed. Spike could see her apprehension the topic caused Twilight but he wasn't going to be diswayed from finding out what had been going on recently. So he decided to ask again after she didn't respond for ten seconds. "Twilight" Spike's tone made the mare across from him focus. He locked eyes and asked again. "Twilight why have you been so strict with Starlight recently? I know you can see how fearful she has become of you, Especially over the past week since she settled in." Twilight still said nothing as she began to avoid eye contact with the small drake. "Twilight?" Spike began in a much gentler tone. "Are you aware Starlight has been having nightmares recently?" Twilight eyes snapped to him in an instant her eyes wide with shock. Spike only nods to her. "I...I wasn't aware of that Spike." Twilight lets out a tired sigh. Looking down at the remains of her partially eaten sandwich not feeling so hungry anymore. "I think I'm gonna go for a walk." Spike said nothing more as Twilight slowly walked out of the kitchen. After hearing the front door open an close he let out his own sigh before walking out the archway and upstairs. He would clean up later right now he needed a power nap to recharge. Elsewhere in the local park Twilight was sat on a bench thinking the situation over in her tired mind. It would not last however as a nurse approached "Miss Sparkle?" Asked the nurse drawing the alicorn's attention. "Yes?" Twilight responded confused. Why was a nurse here? "I'm here to inform you that Miss Fluttershy is in Ponyville General Hospital." Twilight's eyes seemed to grow to bigger size as she took off without another word. What had Starlight done?! Author's Note In terms of the tags pay attention to them especially in later chapters. This story will get worse. Expect The UnexpectedThe door to Fluttershy's cottage opened slowly with a light creak. What Starlight was looking at however wasn't Fluttershy. A Large dark blue earth pony with a smoke black mane stood in the doorway. Starlight was some what confused but she was sure it wasn't uncommon for Fluttershy to have ponies come to her for help with pets. It was only natural. "Oh! Excuse me" Starlight said suprised "I wasn't expecting any other ponies to be here." The Stallion remained silent as he pushed past Starlight down the dirt road. Starlight stared at his ever shrinking form as he disappeared. Confused Starlight walks into the open cottage. It's quiet, too quiet for a animal caretakers small home. "Fluttershy... Fluttershy!" Starlight calks out. "I was told by Twilight I was helping you with your animals..." She rounded the corner. "To...day?" Infront of Starlight sat Fluttershy her pink mane disheveled and a bruised eye already very swollen. A light amount of blood is running from the corner to the floor below. Being nursed by a small white bunny. "Fluttershy, What happened to you?!" Starlight starled voice causes the bunny to turn and bare it's teeth before Fluttershy's hoof is layed apon it's head. "It's alright Angel she has changed." She waves Starlight closer. Starlight slowly comes closer keeping an eye on the small ball of aggression next to her. Tilting Fluttershy's head to the side Starlight takes a closer look at the injury. "Fluttershy who was that stallion?" Her question made Fluttershy pull away. Seeing this Starlight understood and without another word started helping her. Help now...ask later Closing her eyes Starlight lights her horn and a blue hue scanned Fluttershy's head. Opening her eyes Starlight gives the gently mare before her a slight smile. "Lucky for you it looks worst than it is. Just a small hairline fracture from the impact. Starlight looks away " The face is always seems the favorite target....damn trash." ...????!!... Fluttershy's attention flips to Starlight she gives a confused look (as best she can) through her good eye. Starlight can tell and chuckles lightly looking away again. "Don't worry." Starlight says quietly almost as if... Fluttershy's eye widened slightly at her inner revelation. Before Starlight turns back and continues "You'll be just fine. But we should get you looked at by a professional just incase". 'And find that stallion from before'. Helping Fluttershy off the floor Starlight brings her up on her back and lays her there. Fluttershy again gives a confused look at the unicorn she would've called evil not long ago. Starlight only gives another light smirk before starting off towards the front door. If only it were that easy... three stallions stood in Fluttershy's living room. One of which was Mr blue, dark, and silent. Only difference is this time... he spoke. My dear Fluttershy, you have depts that needs paying. If you won't give us the money..." The earth pony closer to Starlight who backs away step for step. "Well we'll have to get our payment another way" Fluttershy wimpers and Starlight locks eyes with his dark orange irises. "Lets get one thing straight." Starlight levitats Fluttershy back into the kitchen. Her voice carrying a tone Fluttershy hadn't heard from her before... but it felt all to familiar. "The only way any of you are getting your filthy hooves on her is if I lie dead." The stallion could only smirk as he held himself off from laughing. Looking he keeps trying to compose himself almost coughing as he laughed. "Look at this boys, we have a brave little filly. Zeb, Craw lets play." The three walked closer. The white Pegasus to her right spoke up. "Lets teach a lesson to this slut. A lesson to not mess with those bigger and stronger than you." The third pony in the room a orange unicorn licked his lips. But Starlight dispite her actions so far wasn't anything close to a weakling. And that would be their last mistake. Starlight could only smirk. Then they will learn... POOF! away the four of them went. Fluttershy could only stare at where Starlight previously stood. Her demeanor had changed so quickly. So...violently, Fluttershy wasn't sure this was going to end well. The four ponies reappeared in a large patch of snow dusted tundra. Looking around confused at where they were. They failed to notice the angry mare they had wanted to hurt moments before. Bad move...very...bad..move. Starlight launched herself at the orange unicorn to her left making solid contact to his head sending him skidding across the sand. One down two to go. The leader wasted no time... in being your usual brand of villan leader. "Craw don't just stand there get her!!" the white stallion demanded his pegasi subordinate. Craw looked at his boss, to Starlight then to the downed dorn of Zeb. Craw looked at his boss one more time before.... ... ... ... Flying away into the sky leaving the three of them without a single ounce of hesitation. Starlight could only smirk. 'What a coward' she thought turning back to the leader. The leader could only stare at where his lacky had disappeared dutching him in the middle of this ice filled hellscape. DAMN HIM!! DAMNHIMDAMNHIMDAMN- Something made contact with the left side of his face sending him skidding across the muddy semi frozen ground. Looking up he saw the sky and felt something warm leak in his mouth. Spitting his eyes found a tooth... his tooth. In her honest opinion the punch Starlight delivered to the distracted Stallion wasn't the hardest by any means but it had the intended effect. Bringing his head around Starlight saw a glare adorned his face accompanied by a fire in his eyes. Rising to stand he spun quickly! !!! Starlight felt around herself she was...why was she on the ground? Ohh Celestia did her head hurt. Opening her eyes she saw little, the world blurry and unfocused. As her vision returned she began to get back up the front of her head still pounding with a dull throb. Starlight looked down. There by her right hoof lay the cause of her pain. The bastard had thrown a stone the size of her hoof. Shaking her head again. Her vision was soon filled with a large hoof. Flying thru the air she tried to activate her magic. "Ahhh!!" She yelled hitting the ground. Oh no that's not good. Pain... Starlight had felt a large spike of pain. Which only ment one thing. Horn damage. Most likely a crack at the base from the rock. She hoped it wasn't too bad. She needed to leave Now! Staggering back to her hooves Starlight tried to focus on her opponent. The arrogant smile on his face fit the situation well. They borh knew he had won. Now all Starlight needed to do was teleport back to ponyville. Focusing her magic into her horn hurt but soon enough. POOF! Appearing back in Fluttershy's cottagw Starlight collapsed onto the wooden floor below her. She was exhausted. Teleportation such a long distance in hindsight wasn't a good idea. She had set herself up. She was arrogant. Just like thr arrogance she had during her fight against Twilight. Getting up Starlight walks into the kitchen to see Fluttershy sitting there a cup of tea on the table and an icepack over her eye. Noticing the unicorn walk in Fluttershy looks up from her tea. "Come on Fluttershy, lets get you to the hospital." At The Hospital Starlight sat on the bench in the waiting room. Her horn had been examined and wrapped by a nurse. The nurse who she had learned was named Clear Cut had told her if she had done anything further her horn may have exploded. So no more magic for at least a few days and come back in around three to make sure it's healing correctly. The worse of the two however was Fluttershy. Starlight was correct in her assessment of the injury to the mares eye. It was a orbital fracture. The bastard had done a number on her but nothing permanent. Thank the stars above. The doors to the waiting room opened and out walked Clear Cut. Looking at Starlight with a smile she addressed the unicorn. "Miss Glimmer" Clear Cut stated grabbing Starlight's attention. "You can see Fluttershy now." Starlight wasted no time in following the nurse to Fluttershy's door. Inside the room lay a resting Fluttershy, a large rectangular patch covering up the ugly sight her eye had become. With the sight before her Starlight's stomach twisted. What was Twilight going to say? Was She right? Was- "Starlight?" The soft tone caught Starlight off guard as her inner turmoil had distracted her from where she was. Looking at the bed Starlight found a large gentle blue eye staring back. It seemed even as hurt as she was, her kind nature never rested. "What's wrong Starlight?" Fluttershy asked carefully sitting up in bed. "Nothing... Nothing is wrong, Fluttershy." Fluttershy lightly giggles "You're not a good liar, Starlight, come here and talk to me." Fluttershy says, tapping the bed sheet next to her. Starlight reluctantly complies and takes a deep breath. "I'm... I'm scared. I'm terrified of what Twilight will say when she..." Starlight swallows the small lump forming in her throat. "When she gets here. I know she'll be angry because.." "Because... you believe that it was your fault and that Twilight will hurt you?" Starlight stared shocked. "Y-Yes, But how-?" "How did I know you're scared to be hurt by somepony." Starlight nods looking away. After a few moments Fluttershy spoke up again. "That stallion you encountered and fought. He is my ex-coltfriend. His name is Fragile Drag." Fluttershy's tone sent a chill up Starlight's spine. If Starlight had to describe It in one word. It would be haunted. It was as if she wasn't sitting next to the element of kindness. Maybe she could... trust her. But would she listen? Only one way to find out... So she took a shaking breath and asked. "Fluttershy? Could I confide in you for a moment?" Fluttershy looks at her. And She quickly added on thinking she'd overstepped. "It's completely okay if you say no it's just since we're talking I figured-." A hoof gently pressed itself to her muzzle silencing Starlight's ramblings. Starlight looked and the two made eye contact. Fluttershy taking her hoof off just sat calmly waiting for Starlight to begin. ... "It was close to fifteen years ago..." Twilight galloped through the street as fast as her legs would carry her. All she could think of were the horrifying possibilities. Fluttershy .... oh Celestia why did she put Fluttershy first on that list. Damn it! No matter, Fluttershy first then she'd find Starlight. Bursting through the door of the hospital she was quick to find the receptionist's desk. Panting she talked as fast and clearly as she was able. "I came as fast as I could where is Fluttershy's room?!" The receptionist startled by the alicorn's sudden arrival was quiet for a moment before responding. "Miss Fluttershy's room is just down the hall. You only just missed the nurse showing in Miss Glimmer." The receptionist's response sent boiling rage through Twilight's veins. Starlight was still with Fluttershy. Twilight saw red. Starlight Glimmer!! The blood in Starlight's veins froze as a rage filled scream echoed through the hospital. She was here. In the hospital. And is very Angry In this moment of fear only one thing would come out of Starlight's lips. "I'm Fucked" Starlight threw her hooves up and walked to a nearby corner. She did nothing but lay there waiting for her oncoming death. Fluttershy however would have none of it. She marched into the hall and waited. As Twilight in all her boiling rage came marching down the hall completely oblivious to the pegasus. Just as expected. Fluttershy however in a fashion befitting royalty simply spread her wings and blocked Twilight's way. Twilight tries to push her out of the way to get to her target. But Starlight instead of getting the fur beaten off her witnesses something she thought impossible. Fluttershy headbutts Twilight knocking her back. Twilight, not expecting the move, is suddenly made aware as her head is rung like a bell. Twilight takes this very badly. Looking past the yellow roadblock she sees Starlight trying to stay as far away as possible. "What did you do to Fluttershy you little snake!" Twilight yells standing back up enraged. Starlight shrinks back into the corner, her fear overcoming her situational awareness. "Twilight that's enough!" Fluttershy says firmly as she blocks Twilight's view trying to calm the alicorn. This has little effect. Twilight wasn't listening, being far too consumed by her anger. "First you hurt her then you brainwash-" Slap!! A sound familiar to all beings nearby echoes out through the hospital corridors. Starlight standing next to the window is nothing short of stunned. She could have lived a thousand years and she never would've thought Thee Fluttershy, the element of kindness, the mare who would never hurt a fly would slap Twilight Sparkle. "Princess Twilight Sparkle... Get Out" Fluttershy was short and precise. No long speech no 'you did this wrong' just a strong shock to the mare she called her friend. "Get out and don't come back. I will come to you in the castle... am I Understood?" Nothing was said by the alicorn as she rose back to her standing height. She just looked at Fluttershy, Looked at Starlight, Scoffed and left. "Fluttershy?" Starlight asked, getting up and slowly walking closer. Fluttershy began to shake. The shock of what just happened caused her to collapse onto her belly. Starlight laid down next to her as she saw the tears that began to stream from her eyes from the stress. Starlight didn't know much about being close to somepony. But at this moment she didn't need to. She just let Fluttershy lean against her and cry. The two of them sat there for what seemed like hours. At some point Fluttershy passed out and Starlight tucked her into bed. Taking the chair just on the other side of the room. Soon Starlight fell into a deep sleep. [In Starlight's Dream] Starlight stood in a gleaming room. The Celestia's sun shining through the nearby windows bathing the room in pleasant warmth. Until she realizes she wasn't alone. Starlight's eyes go wide as a breath of air grazes the back of her neck ever so slightly. She freezes, swallowing in fear as a pit of despair eats away at her stomach. Slowly Starlight turns around to face... "Welcome back Starlight Glimmer." Herself?? No it's not her, it is... but... is it? Her bangs hang ethier side of her horn as the rest of her mane hangs opposite to the right side of her neck. The two make eye contact. Starlight can only look away in a fearlike respect of the unicorn in front of her. Looking around Starlight noticed the scenery around her had also changed. Instead of warm halls of marble she found herself in the cold, dark, empty desert. "Aww come now Starlight Glimmer look at me. Are you truly so much weaker now than when we were at the village?" Starlight Glimmer looks up again and a pervasive lump forms in her throat. Her former self began to circle her. "Do you remember the feeling of having that power?" Starlight stops in front of Glimmer and smiles. "Come with me and let us Welcome you back to the fold of equality." That is when the sky above them exploded. "Enough!!" A voice unknown to the unicorn screamed. The bright flash evaporating the area leaving Starlight alone. Uncovering and shaking her head she tries to recover from the unexpected event. Opening her eyes Starlight saw one of the two being in equestria she hoped never to come near. "Starlight Glimmer" Princess Luna stated standing not far from her. Starlight confused by the sudden arrival of a princess. Dropped like a stone into the sand. Bowing as deeply as she physically could. Her ears pinned back as her body lightly trembled. She can feel Princess Luna stepping closer. Starlight looked up ever so slightly not daring to make eye contact with the Star controlling Alicorn. "Miss Glimmer please do not fear us...rise." Luna seemed to use a neutral if not gentle tone similar to Celestia. Starlight didn't understand what was happening? Starlight slowly rose standing before Luna. She would not look up however. She knew neither of the princess' despite accepting her presence were anything close to friendly. Luna spoke up again. "Starlight Glimmer please look at thee." Starlight reluctantly complies. The two looked upon each other before things continued. "You've had quite the day Starlight. We are not here to hurt thou please relax." The Alicorns horn lit up changing the area from the cold desert to a nice cool balcony overlooked by the moon high above. "My sister and I received a letter from our dear Twilight earlier today." Starlight stiffened. "What was described was disturbing to say the least. So we assured our sister we would get to the bottom of it." Earlier That Day: Canterlot A letter manifested itself from a mist floating through the throne room window. Celestia, always happy to here from her student, smiled as the letter unraveled before her. Dear Princess Celestia Today has not gone as planned. I tasked Starlight with the chore of helping a few of my friends this morning. However, contrary to my belief. Starlight could not handle it. I think she was violent towards Fluttershy and brainwashed her afterwards. Fluttershy's injuries were limited brusing and what seemed to be a patch covering her eye. Fluttershy seemed to defend Starlight at the hospital. Telling me to 'calm down'. Even going as far as having the gall to headbutt and slap me. These actions and a tense standoff later I decided to retreat and refer to you and Luna. I will wait for your quick response. Yours, Twilight Sparkle. To say the letter confused Celestia was an understatement. A violent confrontation in a public space, a hospital no less wasn't her student. Twilight would never do such a thing willingly. But after sending a guard to confirm the incident occurred and indeed it was confirmed after a brief period, Celestia's worries only grew. Looking to a nearby clock she saw it was nearing midday. Celestia then made her decision. "Guard when Luna wakes tell to meet me in my quarters after sunset as something disturbing has occurred." The guard nodded as Celestia got up. She could worry if this continued past tonight. Later That Evening "Sister?" Luna asked entering Celestia quarters. "What has happened that requires my attention, Your request was vague?" Celestia floats over Twilight's letter after reading it Luna understands. "I see sister this is disturbing ." "Yes Luna I ask that you look into this from the dream realm. You'll be faster than anything I could do." Luna understands what Celestia wanted done immediately. "Alright sister I'll get on this predicament immediately." Luna begins to walk out. "Get some sleep, I fear you'll need it my sister." Luna knew what Twilight was like and this wasn't like her. Luna could feel it in her gut something was wrong... so very wrong. Luna instead of heading to her own quarters went somewhere she had rarely gone since her return. A meditation chamber kept secret from even her personal guard. Only her most trusted had ever seen the door. Their was a good reason for this however. This is the location where Nightmare Moon first emerged from Luna's suppressed anger and grief. Running her hoof over the dust coated steel door she remembered those nights. The fear, the hate, the resentment. .... It still haunted her. The lunar alicorn took a deep breath.... and chuckled. Perhaps she and Miss Glimmer were not so different after all. Two powerful formerly evil beings haunted by their misdeeds. Steeling herself Luna entered the chamber. First up Fluttershy. Entering Fluttershy's dream was easy enough for Luna though she found a pleasant sight before her. The yellow pegasus was enjoying her time in a large flower garden. It seemed the recent events hadn't soured her attitude in the slightest. Smiling Luna floated down landing not far from Fluttershy. Slowly approaching Luna could feel the joy her young subject took in her activity. Too bad she has to ruin it. "Miss Fluttershy?" Luna asked continuing to get closer. Fluttershy for her part was suprised to see the princess but wasn't going to refuse the company. "Oh Princess Luna" Fluttershy stated smiling happily. "I wasn't expecting anypony else today. Fluttershy got up to bow but Luna stopped her with a raised hoof. Fluttershy standing back up sermed nervous. "If I can ask..umm what brings you here?" Luna smiled jestering for the newly vacant bench. "I'm sorry to spoil your time Fluttershy, however I come here tonight to talk about what happened earlier to today... at the hospital." With just the mention of the hospital sent a chill through the dream. Luna acting quickly rested a wing across the mares back. Her wing tip rubbing a small circle between the base of her wings. Luna's smile returned as a content sigh escaped Fluttershy's lips. After a few more minutes of this Luna retracted her wing and the two just sat there. Until Fluttershy asked a question. "Princess, are your here to find out what happened?" Luna shook her head. "I already know what happened. I here to get an individual point of view. First is you. So start when ready." Luna sat and listened carefully. From the assault on her by her ex- coltfriend. Through Starlight and their assumed fight. And finally the incident in the hospital. Though that wasn't all. "Fluttershy? Did Twilight seem to be not be acting as herself, For lack if a better term?" Luna asked. Fluttershy paused thinking back. A powerful chill ran down her spine as the memories surfaced. "She did seem to be highly aggressive. Almost as if she wasn't completely aware I guess." Fluttershy looked down in thought. Although I think I saw something change when I struck her. She seemed to regain some self awareness after." Luna hearing about everything was puzzled. She thanked Fluttershy and after a flash revived Fluttershy's pleasant dream. Next Starlight. "That is why I'm here Starlight Glimmer I wish to hear things from your point of view." Princess Luna said as Starlight processed everything she had just been told. But the alicorn still had one more unasked question. "Starlight, When was the first time Twilight started acting aggressive towards you?" Starlight considering this question tried to remember when it was Twilight started to change. Then it hit her. Starlight looked up at Princess Luna making eye contact. "She started changing when she first heard Cadence was pregnant... three weeks ago." Luna began thinking of ways that could correlate when her eyes grew with a horrible realization. "Starlight what is the date?" She asked looking at Starlight. Starlight looked confused for a moment before responding. It's April 14th, 1008 why? Is something wrong princess?" Luna thinking further she felt that date was important. Strange behavior?, seemingly random aggression?, 1008... The realization hit Luna like a comet. "Oh no" she said proceeding to run out of the dream. Leaving a now very confused Starlight behind. Author's Note I combined another chapter Trouble In ParadiseLuna galloped through the hall of Canterlot castle fear pulsing through her veins. She knew of only one being that can create such a shift in ones personality. She just hoped she wasn't too late. Bursting into the throne room Luna gasped for breath. "Celestia! Where is Twilight! Is she still in Ponyville?" Celestia's eyes were wide. Her sisters sudden appearance combined with her frantic state giving the sun diarc a shock. "Luna?" Celestia answered trotting over quickly. Celestia steadied her sister bringing her wing to Luna's face forcing eye contact. "Luna look at me what's happened? What has you is such a state?!" Luna coughed to clear her airway. "Twilight,Twilightin danger." She gasped out. "I spokewithStarlight and Fluttershy last night. Twilight Sparkle's behavior only started to change after receiving wordbyletterfrom the Crystal Empire." Celestia shook Luna trying to calm the alicorn to get a divination answer. "Luna" Celestia insisted "I need you to answer clearly. Your not making sense." Luna then gave the answer that sent a wave of cold through Celestia. "Sombra... I fear Sombra has taken control of Twilight Sparkle." Celestia couldn't believe what she was hearing. Just the notion alone was ridiculous But she didn't have time to process the string of information before Luna asked again. "Celestia, where is Twilight Sparkle?!" Celestia confused looked at Luna and gave the only answer she had. "Twilight and the others are on their way too the Crystal Empire. Luna you need to calm down. Sombra is dangerous yes but he cannot simply take control of one like Twilight she is to aware and isn't weak minded in any sense." Luna was reassured little by Celestia's explanation. "I don't believe that sister if I'm correct-" "If you are correct we shall deal with it when the time comes. For now let us depart we need to meet the others in the empire." With that the two teleported from the throne room. Miles away Starlight looked out the train window watching the scenery roll by. Starlight sat alone while the other 6 were scattered around the private car. Strangely enough Spike sat himself nearby. The fact he wasn't sitting close to Twilight for whatever reason seemed strange. But hell who was she to judge. Twilight, Applejack, Rainbow and Rarity sat on the opposite end of the car. Starlight sat herself as far away as possible. Starlight couldn't help but think about the dream last night. What was going on? What had Luna so scared? That got to her. If it scared Luna it had to be bad. But how does this date correspond with Twilight strange behavior? The more she though anout it the more her head hurt. Shaking her head Starlight settled in at least attempting to relax. If what Twilight had said was true she'd need it. Sunburst... Sunburst. After so many years, was she truely ready to see him again? Twilight seemed to think so but was she...truly ready? Only time would tell if that sentiment was reality. Would he accept her? She didn't have an answer and that in and of itself scared her far more than Twilight. "Starlight?" Her attention was diverted from her thoughts by a certain pegasi with a purple dragon on her back. "Is something wrong Starlight?" Spike askes jumping from Fluttershy's back to the bench seat. Starlight looked out the window away from the two. "I'm not sure if continuing on like this is right for me." She looks back at the two she felt she could almost call friends. "It's not that I hate you all. At least not anymore I am past that, but... Twilight is just making things so difficult I..." exhaling and slouching down in her seat Starlight to the floor her ears still picking up bits and pieces of the conversation on the other side of the car. "I just don't know anymore." "Starlight" Fluttershy softly asks as she approaches and Spike moves to allow her to sit next to Starlight. "Starlight it's okay. Your having a hard time adjusting, I understand. Twilight on the other hoof I'm sure is just under alot of stress. While yes she has been... difficult. I know she still cares." Still seeing the uncertainty behind Starlight's eyes Fluttershy thinks of something that could improve things. A thought pops into her head as Fluttershy readjusts in her seat. "What if I took you with me on vacation?" "Vacation?"Fluttershy simply nods leaning forward with a smile beaming from her lips. "Yep, I've been planning to take one for some time and I think I've just found the perfect time. So what do you think? After this is resolved we take a vacation just you and me. I was thinking about Vanhoover." Starlight smiles as a light chuckle escapes her. "You know what Fluttershy...I think I'll take you up on that. It sounds like fun." Fluttershy smiles again hoping off the bench and walking down the train car. Giving one last bright smile as she rejoined the others. That just left her and Spike. Wait... oh crud she forgot Spike was there too. Looking over about to apologize she stopped apon the sight next to her. The dragon in question had fallen asleep and it looked like he liked her tail as his pillow. Gently Starlight grabbed and readjusted his position so he instead used her legs as a pillow and her tail as a blanket. Laying down soon Starlight found the embrace of sleep as she decided a nap would do her good. It would be a long way to the empire and she needed all the rest she could get. "Ohh Starliiigghht" a voice echoed through the dark void. Starlight looked around seeing little but fog. "Come here my little star don't you want to spend time with me?" The dark chill filled Starlight's body like water sending her into a terror induced sprint. "You can't escape me little star I know everything about you." Starlight didn't stop she couldn't stop she had to get away she had one chance. A wall appeared in front of her and the nightmare transformed. A shadow slowly crept over her. Horror filling her mind. "Starlight... Starlight??" The far away voice made Starlight lightly shift as she starting to wake from her sleep. Moaning she cracks open an eye to see... "Rarity?" "It's time to wake up dear. We've arrived everyone is waiting." Rarity says smiling at her. Yawning Starlight sits up seeing Spike wasn't laying on her legs anymore. With a stretch Starlight follows Rarity out of the train and onto the platform. The small chill running along her skin slightly dulling the growing headache within her head. The Crystal City... so this is where Sunburst has lived for so many years. So immersed is she in the sight Starlight fails to hear Twilight calling out to her.... "Starlight!" "Ahh!" Starlight jumps almost hitting the train she just exited. "Can you Please pay attention." Twilight gave her a light scowl together with her annoyed tone. "Umm right sorry." Starlight apologies as Twilight continues talking. "As I was saying the five of us will be going with my brother to the palace. Spike you will take Starlight and head over to Sunburst's so she can put everything behind her and they can reconnect with each other. Sound good everyone?" Those present aside from Fluttershy and Starlight all nod. This is unnoticed by Twilight as she turns with most of the group following. Only Spike and Fluttershy stay with Starlight, As Fluttershy walks closer. "Starlight I'm sorry to leave like this but.." Starlight however was quick to stop her unnecessary apology. "It's alright Fluttershy you go catch up with the others. This may seem weird but for once I agree with Twilight, even if she's borderline insane." Starlight muttered knowing today was gonna suck. "Anyway I should catch up with the others." Fluttershy starts away when she stops. "And Starlight, Your a good pony I know you have it in you, believe in yourself and I think you'll find life much more fulfilling." With those words Fluttershy flew away to catch up with the others. Watching Fluttershy fly off in between the crystalline buildings Starlight found her lips stretching into a genuine smile. She had friends again. Now if only Sunburst would be just as easy. Walking through the Crystal city was a strange feeling for Starlight. An entire city basically made out of crystals foundation and all? Coming to the central plaza Starlight quickly took notice of one very peculiar statue smack in the center. There standing proudly was a crystal sculpture of Spike holding a heart. "Spike... Is that a sculpture of you?" Starlight asked stopping as they passed by. "Oh ho ho yeah!" He chuckled "The crystal ponies created it after we defeated Sombra." "Why??" Spike stopped looking back at the unicorn. "Well..." he started before stopping himself. "We really shouldn't get sidetracked we have to get you to Sunburst's.. h- hey!" Spike found himself levitating into a nearby seat via Starlight's magical aura. "Oh no we're not going anywhere yet. I want to here all about this." Starlight sat herself down on a nearby lawnchair as a small group of admirers surrounded the little dragon. A smile came apon Starlight's face as she shoved a hoof full of popcorn into her mouth. Knowing Spike couldn't resist feeding his ego. She knew she won this round. At The Castle The group of six ponies made their way through the brightly pleasant halls of the Crystal palace. Many admiring how it was constructed all but three. At the back of the group Fluttershy walked alongside Rainbow The two talking about recent events. "So when you went to the hospital it wasn't because of Starlight?" Fluttershy shakes her head and smiles. "No if it wasn't for Starlight I could have had much worse than just this fracture." Fluttershy says jestering to the pad on her cheek. "Doesn't that hurt, I mean I've been hurt before but that just looks like you should still be in the hospital." "In all honesty I should be home resting but if I can yell at Twilight while just suffering a large hoof to the face I can be here. Besides I need to keep Twilight's aggression towards Starlight in check." If Twilight heard Fluttershy she didn't let it show as the group arrived in the bedroom. All their attention drawn to the bundle held to Cadence' chest. Cadence and Shining looked like death. Pale skin, bloodshot eyes, matted hair, and deep bags under their eyes. Cadence looked up from the bundle. "Oh! Twilight it's yawn it's good to see you. How was your..." she slowed yaening again. "Cadence, Shining when was the last time you slept?" Twilight asked worryingly as Cadence put the bundle in a bed next to her. Oh it's okay I think it's only been two days...or three, maybe?" She was so mentally tired she didn't know what day it was. By the stars! Twilight thought horrified. Seeing Twilight's horrified expression she smiled. "Don't worry I think she's finally asleep." "Only took four hours this time new record" Shining cheered with the enthusiasm of a drugged billy goat. Finally falling over with a hard thud. "Well that was.... interesting." Rarity commented as Rainbow and Twilight looked on disturbed. Completely missing Applejack' sympathetic look at the couple. Fluttershy just giggled directed Applejack and Rarity to help get them in bed leaving Twilight and Rainbow to process what they just saw. The two horrified ponies looked at each other agreeing and hoping to never experience that kind of hell. Elsewhere Starlight grumbled under her breath Spike had finished his story and quickly put them back on track. Now they walked along the stone steets looking for that ever elusive house. Now it seemed to be time after so long the two stood infront of a small single story house. "Spike I can't do this! I can't just walk up and after what ten-twelve years just do THIS!" Starlight's anxiety was syarting to overtake her before Spike took her face in his claws. "Starlight do you not trust Fluttershy?" The sentence caused Starlight to stop. "Wh-What?" She asked confused as if not understanding what was asked. Spike looked at her and asked again "Starlight Glimmer.. do you not trust Fluttershy after what she said. She said she believed in you she said she believes you to be a better pony than what Twilight sees. Now do you think she was lying or do you believe you deserve better than what you were?" A shocked silence follows as a now calm Starlight stood and looked to the door walking further she steadily raised a hoof. Author's Note If you read the original you'll know this is the part when things startedto take a sharp right into very dark territory. Another day of uneaseStarlight opens her eyes to see her village. A thick fog covers the ground as the bright full moon filling the sky sends chills down her spine. Why was she here, didn't she leave? The long lines of houses seemed to stretch on and on. So in that moment Starlight did the only thing she could think to do and started walking. Far above a astral mare watched her a neutral but serious expression conveying her contempt for the mare walking below. Twilight had told the two rulers what had transpired and while unsure Celestia had been trusting enough to give Twilight the chance at a reformation. Luna was however much more hesitant about this 'Starlight Glimmer'. The luner alicorn would not trust so easily especially if half of what was told was true. Luna would test the unicorn and show no hesitation in doing so at a swift pace. After a few minutes of walking she was stopped by something. A new sound beyond her own steps. Infront of her at the corner of the next house stepped out a mare. Her mane braided into two a bright wide smile plastered on her face. Starlight's eyes widened.. "Wa- Twilight! Why are you here?!" "I'm here to welcome you home mistress." RRRRIIINNNGGGG!!! RRRRIIIINNGGGG!!! SMASH!! “Ohhhhhh!” A hoof slaps the screaming alarm clock as a long yawn persists from under the mass of sheets. The unicorn cracks open an annoyed eye. Slowly Starlight rises, the sheet falling off exposing her body to the chill the room retained. Somehow that always seemed to stay despite the castle heating. "What was that?" She thinks as a dull throb eminates from her head. Looking over Starlight gazes at the remains of the clock. Her eyes immediately shoot open in shock and fear... She’s late! "Crap crap crap" Starlight exclaims jumping out of bed as if it was on fire. Her questions forgotten. Starlight runs down the vast castle halls as fast ad her legs can carry her. How could she have been so out of it last night to set her alarm wrong? Twilight wasn’t going to be happy. And ooh was she right about that.... When Starlight finally arrived at the castle library Twilight was working but not hard enough for her to not notice the door open and a nervous unicorn enter. Twilight scowled turning to face her. "Starlight, it's about time!" Starlight freezes in place as her mentors voice echos. Twilight storms up to her student getting muzzle to muzzle. "You were suppose to be here over an hour ago, Where the fuck were you!" Starlight takes a deep breath before answering. "Twilight I overslept, I know you want me here early and not only did I set my clock wrong, I didn't take you your time or your patience into consideration, I'm sorry.." The silence after her answer hung in the air causing Starlight's chest to tighten in fear as if she just insulted Celestia herself. Twilight backs up a few steps and takes a deep breath calming herself. "Fine" Twilight says begrudgingly accepting Starlight's answer. "So here is what's going on Starlight. My old foalsitter and sister in law Princess Cadence is due to give birth any day." Twilight grabs a piece of paper from the table behind her. "What I need from you is to help out a few of my friends so they have breathing room in their schedules before then. She begins walking back and forth infront. "So while i deal with some paperwork today I need you to handle that. Think your up to the task?" Twilight questions as she proceeds to the door looking back at her student. "Definitely" Starlight states with confidence a small grin adorning her face. But just one more thing?" Starlight asks stopping Twilight in her tracks. "Oh?" Twilight asks one eyebrow raised in curiosity. "And what might that be?" Starlight rubs the back if her head nervously. "I just wanted to ask real quick.. umm when, when are we going back to the village. You know to talk to them and.." "Not for awhile Starlight." Twilight starts turning around again. "The princess's decided to keep you close to them and us incase sonething were to... change in regards to your mentality." Starlight looked away as Twilight began to leave again but not before giving some parting words to the unicorn. "I hope your truely ready this may be the only chance you get! Your first stop is Fluttershy's cottage near the everfree she'll take over once you get there, good luck!" "you'll need it." Twilight whisper was heard unbeknownst to the alicorn. Starlight looked to the door where her mentor had just exited the room wondering what fresh hell she had gotten herself into this time. For Starlight Ponyville was just fine with the shops and stands in the marketplace near the center of town. She could deal with the cold additude Twilight gave her, she could deal with the dreams she couldn't remember. Starlight could even deal with the seemingly random monster attacks during important events. What she couldn't deal with was the ponies themselves who were currently putting her in a very uncomfortable position. Thou thanks to Twilight her actions were well known all over Equestria and by the ponies even in a small rural area like this she supposed it was to be expected, especially when said town is in the figurative and literal shadow of Canterlot. News travels fast. But it didn't make the whispers easier to listen too. "What does Twilight see in her?" "Shouldn't she be in a cage somewhere?" Starlight's ears were pinned themselves down as she tries to ignore the whispering ponies all around. But she isn't that lucky today. "Ohh my friend left me, Waaahhh Hah!" said one mare walking infront of her. Her hooves rubbing under eyes mocking Starlight. "What a little foal" another said blatantly as she passed. Foal.... That one word seemed to echo through her mind and into her veins. Foal... Foal..! Foal!!! Starlight froze in the middle of the street. A single tear streamed down her face as she took a shakey breath. The memories of a time long past starting to slither back to the forefront of her mind. . . No! Starlight screams mentally No Starlight don't..don't think about thise days she thought to herself.Those days are over they can't and don't affect you anymore, your stronger now. . . . Right? Soon enough Starlight arrived at Fluttershy's cottage and she was a tad nervous Fluttershy was really the only one to see her crueler side when at the village. If she knew anything at that moment Starlight knew she wasn't going to like this. A million thoughts went through her mind as she walked ever closer to the front door. It seemed as Ice had begun to collect in her veins and a chill ran up Starlight's spine dispite the warm summer weather around her. Her hoof raised to knock on the door. .. Knock! Knock! Starlight stood there her eyes looking towards the ground as her thoughts began to take shape in her head. What if Fluttershy was angry or scared of her would she tell Twilight? Would she tell the princess'? Stop stop deep breathes in and out. Starlight thought as her panicked mind began to run inhale, exhale everything will be okay it will be fine. 'creak' the door slowly opened. Twilight sat at her desk papers strewn about. She had taken Starlight as her student only with great difficulty. Her fellow princess's were very much nervous and or down right opposed to the option. The look on Luna's face was not going to be forgotten by the young alicorn anytime soon. If you were to say Twilight wasn't nervous about she wouldn't say you had good jokes. In truth she was extremely nervous. Not only about the prospect of having a student herself but also about Starlight's potential danger. Twilight saw that for herself. A still relatively young unicorn going head to head with an alicorn?! And keeping up not only in a physical but magical fight! Twilight hoped Starlight would try if only for awhile to see things her way. Oh, if only things were that simple. Twilight grimaced at the royal seal on the page. Celestia, yes Princess Celestia wanted to meet Starlight personally. The letter read as such... My Dearest Twilight In regards of what transpired just over a month ago between your new student Starlight Glimmer and yourself I've come to the decision (after consulting with Luna) that we would like to meet with her personally in Canterlot. We would like to meet her after Cadence has her foal (sone time in the next month would be preferred). However this timeframe is not required but for your earliest convenience. In regards to her magical strength we would like her to have a nullification ring on while in Canterlot. (A precautionary measure I'm sure you as well as she will understand). We hope this letter finds you well. We shall see you soon Your Friend and Mentor Princess Celestia. As Twilight finishes reading the letter again she deeply once more as a light ache makes itself known in her frontal lobe. Things just keep getting better and better. At least it's not the negotiations between the three of them over Starlight. Now that was a real headache. Two Weeks Prior "Twilight are you sure of this?" Celestia asked her tone holding nothing but genuine concern regarding the topic of this meeting. Twilight gave her mentor a small smile "Yes Princess I'm sure of my decision". Celestia gave another look. "Twilight It's not that-" The dining room door suddenly burst open to reveal a calm but clearly aggitated Luna. Her eyes were focused on them. "Twilight Sparkle is what I've heard true? That thou wishes to take this Starlight Glimmer as your student?" "That I do Luna" Twilight responded as the Luna and Twilight locked eyes. If Twilight has learned one thing about Luna it's that she doesn't back down easy. So if you want something that Luna doesn't like you need to show your serious in one of very few ways. Eye contact is one of those few ways. "What praytell will you be doing with this Starlight Glimmer?" Luna asked suspicious as she approached and sat across from Twilight. From there things went some what smoothly besides Luna insisting constant surveillance and magical resraints. Something that Twilight found disturbing. There was something about Celestia during the meeting that Twilight had noticed ever so subtly. It was as if she had somehow known Starlight from somewhere. Before Twilight could dwell further Spike entering the room caught her attention. "Oh!" Twilight exclaimed "hello Spike what brings you here?" Spike looked confused until rolling his eyes and points to the clock above Twilight's desk. Looking up she sees the time. 1:37pm had it really been that long? Twilight sighed before bringing the papers together into a stack and getting up. After a brief stretch the two head for the kitchen. Lunch wasn't going to eat itself. In Canterlot Celestia gave a small tired sigh. Court was as boring as it ever was. The noble before her kept prataling on about some kids and his house. She didn't know, she stopped caring ten minutes ago. But regardless her mind was preoccupied with other matters. She still had a meeting with the newly certified leader of the river union and Cadence was still due any day. Worrying at this point was in her nature. Looking at the clock she saw the time and called for recess. What was she so worried for? Things would turn out fine Starlight isn't like her. If only Celestia could believe her own lies. She turned towards her personal study. Telling the guards noone but her sister may disturb her she entered and locked the door behind her. After laying qn additional sheid around the room she walked up to her bookshelf. Pulling the third book from the right on the third shelf just out unseen gears began to engage and unlock. Behind the bookshelf lay a small safe inbeded within the wall. Celestia put in a six digit code and it opened. Inside lay a stack of files some contingency plans others closely guarded secrets spanning centuries. One file held her interest as she extracted it. The Heavens Light Rebellion Celestia stared down at the file held within her magic. She knew this day would come she knew Starlight would come back. Celestia had hoped her efforts 20 years ago would keep things as they were... however even she knew these things always had a chance to become reality. No matter how careful she was. Opening the file she shuffles threw the information before her focus came to one name. Date: 5/16/984 Subject- Aurora Glimmer Status:Imprisoned Crime/s :Magical Rebellion. [-16 counts] :Destruction of Property. [-8 Counts] :Public Endangerment. [-75 Counts] :Attacking the Royal Family. [-3 Counts] Sentence : Banishment Conducted by Princess Celestia of Equestria effective immediately. Celestia finshed reviewing the file with a grimace adorning her face. Did she dare tell Twilight about what really transpired all those years ago with her new student? Something not even Luna knew? Celestia wasn't sure if she could handle the truth. Putting the file back and locking the safe once more Celestia dissipated the shield and looked at the clock. She could think this over more later she needed to get back to work. With that Princess Celestia started her walk back to her duties her mind still conflicted with what the future may hold. Back in Ponyville Twilight and Spike happily ate their lunch in the kitchen in relative silence. But it would not remain silent. "Twilight?"Spike asked breaking the almost dead silence of the room. Twilight looked at him over her sandwich "Why are you so harsh with Starlight?" At the end of the question Twilight briefly froze as if slapped by the dragon. She hadn't thought he had cared so this was something Twilight wasn't prepared for. And it showed. Spike could see her apprehension the topic caused Twilight but he wasn't going to be diswayed from finding out what had been going on recently. So he decided to ask again after she didn't respond for ten seconds. "Twilight" Spike's tone made the mare across from him focus. He locked eyes and asked again. "Twilight why have you been so strict with Starlight recently? I know you can see how fearful she has become of you, Especially over the past week since she settled in." Twilight still said nothing as she began to avoid eye contact with the small drake. "Twilight?" Spike began in a much gentler tone. "Are you aware Starlight has been having nightmares recently?" Twilight eyes snapped to him in an instant her eyes wide with shock. Spike only nods to her. "I...I wasn't aware of that Spike." Twilight lets out a tired sigh. Looking down at the remains of her partially eaten sandwich not feeling so hungry anymore. "I think I'm gonna go for a walk." Spike said nothing more as Twilight slowly walked out of the kitchen. After hearing the front door open an close he let out his own sigh before walking out the archway and upstairs. He would clean up later right now he needed a power nap to recharge. Elsewhere in the local park Twilight was sat on a bench thinking the situation over in her tired mind. It would not last however as a nurse approached "Miss Sparkle?" Asked the nurse drawing the alicorn's attention. "Yes?" Twilight responded confused. Why was a nurse here? "I'm here to inform you that Miss Fluttershy is in Ponyville General Hospital." Twilight's eyes seemed to grow to bigger size as she took off without another word. What had Starlight done?! Author's Note In terms of the tags pay attention to them especially in later chapters. This story will get worse.
Expect The UnexpectedThe door to Fluttershy's cottage opened slowly with a light creak. What Starlight was looking at however wasn't Fluttershy. A Large dark blue earth pony with a smoke black mane stood in the doorway. Starlight was some what confused but she was sure it wasn't uncommon for Fluttershy to have ponies come to her for help with pets. It was only natural. "Oh! Excuse me" Starlight said suprised "I wasn't expecting any other ponies to be here." The Stallion remained silent as he pushed past Starlight down the dirt road. Starlight stared at his ever shrinking form as he disappeared. Confused Starlight walks into the open cottage. It's quiet, too quiet for a animal caretakers small home. "Fluttershy... Fluttershy!" Starlight calks out. "I was told by Twilight I was helping you with your animals..." She rounded the corner. "To...day?" Infront of Starlight sat Fluttershy her pink mane disheveled and a bruised eye already very swollen. A light amount of blood is running from the corner to the floor below. Being nursed by a small white bunny. "Fluttershy, What happened to you?!" Starlight starled voice causes the bunny to turn and bare it's teeth before Fluttershy's hoof is layed apon it's head. "It's alright Angel she has changed." She waves Starlight closer. Starlight slowly comes closer keeping an eye on the small ball of aggression next to her. Tilting Fluttershy's head to the side Starlight takes a closer look at the injury. "Fluttershy who was that stallion?" Her question made Fluttershy pull away. Seeing this Starlight understood and without another word started helping her. Help now...ask later Closing her eyes Starlight lights her horn and a blue hue scanned Fluttershy's head. Opening her eyes Starlight gives the gently mare before her a slight smile. "Lucky for you it looks worst than it is. Just a small hairline fracture from the impact. Starlight looks away " The face is always seems the favorite target....damn trash." ...????!!... Fluttershy's attention flips to Starlight she gives a confused look (as best she can) through her good eye. Starlight can tell and chuckles lightly looking away again. "Don't worry." Starlight says quietly almost as if... Fluttershy's eye widened slightly at her inner revelation. Before Starlight turns back and continues "You'll be just fine. But we should get you looked at by a professional just incase". 'And find that stallion from before'. Helping Fluttershy off the floor Starlight brings her up on her back and lays her there. Fluttershy again gives a confused look at the unicorn she would've called evil not long ago. Starlight only gives another light smirk before starting off towards the front door. If only it were that easy... three stallions stood in Fluttershy's living room. One of which was Mr blue, dark, and silent. Only difference is this time... he spoke. My dear Fluttershy, you have depts that needs paying. If you won't give us the money..." The earth pony closer to Starlight who backs away step for step. "Well we'll have to get our payment another way" Fluttershy wimpers and Starlight locks eyes with his dark orange irises. "Lets get one thing straight." Starlight levitats Fluttershy back into the kitchen. Her voice carrying a tone Fluttershy hadn't heard from her before... but it felt all to familiar. "The only way any of you are getting your filthy hooves on her is if I lie dead." The stallion could only smirk as he held himself off from laughing. Looking he keeps trying to compose himself almost coughing as he laughed. "Look at this boys, we have a brave little filly. Zeb, Craw lets play." The three walked closer. The white Pegasus to her right spoke up. "Lets teach a lesson to this slut. A lesson to not mess with those bigger and stronger than you." The third pony in the room a orange unicorn licked his lips. But Starlight dispite her actions so far wasn't anything close to a weakling. And that would be their last mistake. Starlight could only smirk. Then they will learn... POOF! away the four of them went. Fluttershy could only stare at where Starlight previously stood. Her demeanor had changed so quickly. So...violently, Fluttershy wasn't sure this was going to end well. The four ponies reappeared in a large patch of snow dusted tundra. Looking around confused at where they were. They failed to notice the angry mare they had wanted to hurt moments before. Bad move...very...bad..move. Starlight launched herself at the orange unicorn to her left making solid contact to his head sending him skidding across the sand. One down two to go. The leader wasted no time... in being your usual brand of villan leader. "Craw don't just stand there get her!!" the white stallion demanded his pegasi subordinate. Craw looked at his boss, to Starlight then to the downed dorn of Zeb. Craw looked at his boss one more time before.... ... ... ... Flying away into the sky leaving the three of them without a single ounce of hesitation. Starlight could only smirk. 'What a coward' she thought turning back to the leader. The leader could only stare at where his lacky had disappeared dutching him in the middle of this ice filled hellscape. DAMN HIM!! DAMNHIMDAMNHIMDAMN- Something made contact with the left side of his face sending him skidding across the muddy semi frozen ground. Looking up he saw the sky and felt something warm leak in his mouth. Spitting his eyes found a tooth... his tooth. In her honest opinion the punch Starlight delivered to the distracted Stallion wasn't the hardest by any means but it had the intended effect. Bringing his head around Starlight saw a glare adorned his face accompanied by a fire in his eyes. Rising to stand he spun quickly! !!! Starlight felt around herself she was...why was she on the ground? Ohh Celestia did her head hurt. Opening her eyes she saw little, the world blurry and unfocused. As her vision returned she began to get back up the front of her head still pounding with a dull throb. Starlight looked down. There by her right hoof lay the cause of her pain. The bastard had thrown a stone the size of her hoof. Shaking her head again. Her vision was soon filled with a large hoof. Flying thru the air she tried to activate her magic. "Ahhh!!" She yelled hitting the ground. Oh no that's not good. Pain... Starlight had felt a large spike of pain. Which only ment one thing. Horn damage. Most likely a crack at the base from the rock. She hoped it wasn't too bad. She needed to leave Now! Staggering back to her hooves Starlight tried to focus on her opponent. The arrogant smile on his face fit the situation well. They borh knew he had won. Now all Starlight needed to do was teleport back to ponyville. Focusing her magic into her horn hurt but soon enough. POOF! Appearing back in Fluttershy's cottagw Starlight collapsed onto the wooden floor below her. She was exhausted. Teleportation such a long distance in hindsight wasn't a good idea. She had set herself up. She was arrogant. Just like thr arrogance she had during her fight against Twilight. Getting up Starlight walks into the kitchen to see Fluttershy sitting there a cup of tea on the table and an icepack over her eye. Noticing the unicorn walk in Fluttershy looks up from her tea. "Come on Fluttershy, lets get you to the hospital." At The Hospital Starlight sat on the bench in the waiting room. Her horn had been examined and wrapped by a nurse. The nurse who she had learned was named Clear Cut had told her if she had done anything further her horn may have exploded. So no more magic for at least a few days and come back in around three to make sure it's healing correctly. The worse of the two however was Fluttershy. Starlight was correct in her assessment of the injury to the mares eye. It was a orbital fracture. The bastard had done a number on her but nothing permanent. Thank the stars above. The doors to the waiting room opened and out walked Clear Cut. Looking at Starlight with a smile she addressed the unicorn. "Miss Glimmer" Clear Cut stated grabbing Starlight's attention. "You can see Fluttershy now." Starlight wasted no time in following the nurse to Fluttershy's door. Inside the room lay a resting Fluttershy, a large rectangular patch covering up the ugly sight her eye had become. With the sight before her Starlight's stomach twisted. What was Twilight going to say? Was She right? Was- "Starlight?" The soft tone caught Starlight off guard as her inner turmoil had distracted her from where she was. Looking at the bed Starlight found a large gentle blue eye staring back. It seemed even as hurt as she was, her kind nature never rested. "What's wrong Starlight?" Fluttershy asked carefully sitting up in bed. "Nothing... Nothing is wrong, Fluttershy." Fluttershy lightly giggles "You're not a good liar, Starlight, come here and talk to me." Fluttershy says, tapping the bed sheet next to her. Starlight reluctantly complies and takes a deep breath. "I'm... I'm scared. I'm terrified of what Twilight will say when she..." Starlight swallows the small lump forming in her throat. "When she gets here. I know she'll be angry because.." "Because... you believe that it was your fault and that Twilight will hurt you?" Starlight stared shocked. "Y-Yes, But how-?" "How did I know you're scared to be hurt by somepony." Starlight nods looking away. After a few moments Fluttershy spoke up again. "That stallion you encountered and fought. He is my ex-coltfriend. His name is Fragile Drag." Fluttershy's tone sent a chill up Starlight's spine. If Starlight had to describe It in one word. It would be haunted. It was as if she wasn't sitting next to the element of kindness. Maybe she could... trust her. But would she listen? Only one way to find out... So she took a shaking breath and asked. "Fluttershy? Could I confide in you for a moment?" Fluttershy looks at her. And She quickly added on thinking she'd overstepped. "It's completely okay if you say no it's just since we're talking I figured-." A hoof gently pressed itself to her muzzle silencing Starlight's ramblings. Starlight looked and the two made eye contact. Fluttershy taking her hoof off just sat calmly waiting for Starlight to begin. ... "It was close to fifteen years ago..." Twilight galloped through the street as fast as her legs would carry her. All she could think of were the horrifying possibilities. Fluttershy .... oh Celestia why did she put Fluttershy first on that list. Damn it! No matter, Fluttershy first then she'd find Starlight. Bursting through the door of the hospital she was quick to find the receptionist's desk. Panting she talked as fast and clearly as she was able. "I came as fast as I could where is Fluttershy's room?!" The receptionist startled by the alicorn's sudden arrival was quiet for a moment before responding. "Miss Fluttershy's room is just down the hall. You only just missed the nurse showing in Miss Glimmer." The receptionist's response sent boiling rage through Twilight's veins. Starlight was still with Fluttershy. Twilight saw red. Starlight Glimmer!! The blood in Starlight's veins froze as a rage filled scream echoed through the hospital. She was here. In the hospital. And is very Angry In this moment of fear only one thing would come out of Starlight's lips. "I'm Fucked" Starlight threw her hooves up and walked to a nearby corner. She did nothing but lay there waiting for her oncoming death. Fluttershy however would have none of it. She marched into the hall and waited. As Twilight in all her boiling rage came marching down the hall completely oblivious to the pegasus. Just as expected. Fluttershy however in a fashion befitting royalty simply spread her wings and blocked Twilight's way. Twilight tries to push her out of the way to get to her target. But Starlight instead of getting the fur beaten off her witnesses something she thought impossible. Fluttershy headbutts Twilight knocking her back. Twilight, not expecting the move, is suddenly made aware as her head is rung like a bell. Twilight takes this very badly. Looking past the yellow roadblock she sees Starlight trying to stay as far away as possible. "What did you do to Fluttershy you little snake!" Twilight yells standing back up enraged. Starlight shrinks back into the corner, her fear overcoming her situational awareness. "Twilight that's enough!" Fluttershy says firmly as she blocks Twilight's view trying to calm the alicorn. This has little effect. Twilight wasn't listening, being far too consumed by her anger. "First you hurt her then you brainwash-" Slap!! A sound familiar to all beings nearby echoes out through the hospital corridors. Starlight standing next to the window is nothing short of stunned. She could have lived a thousand years and she never would've thought Thee Fluttershy, the element of kindness, the mare who would never hurt a fly would slap Twilight Sparkle. "Princess Twilight Sparkle... Get Out" Fluttershy was short and precise. No long speech no 'you did this wrong' just a strong shock to the mare she called her friend. "Get out and don't come back. I will come to you in the castle... am I Understood?" Nothing was said by the alicorn as she rose back to her standing height. She just looked at Fluttershy, Looked at Starlight, Scoffed and left. "Fluttershy?" Starlight asked, getting up and slowly walking closer. Fluttershy began to shake. The shock of what just happened caused her to collapse onto her belly. Starlight laid down next to her as she saw the tears that began to stream from her eyes from the stress. Starlight didn't know much about being close to somepony. But at this moment she didn't need to. She just let Fluttershy lean against her and cry. The two of them sat there for what seemed like hours. At some point Fluttershy passed out and Starlight tucked her into bed. Taking the chair just on the other side of the room. Soon Starlight fell into a deep sleep. [In Starlight's Dream] Starlight stood in a gleaming room. The Celestia's sun shining through the nearby windows bathing the room in pleasant warmth. Until she realizes she wasn't alone. Starlight's eyes go wide as a breath of air grazes the back of her neck ever so slightly. She freezes, swallowing in fear as a pit of despair eats away at her stomach. Slowly Starlight turns around to face... "Welcome back Starlight Glimmer." Herself?? No it's not her, it is... but... is it? Her bangs hang ethier side of her horn as the rest of her mane hangs opposite to the right side of her neck. The two make eye contact. Starlight can only look away in a fearlike respect of the unicorn in front of her. Looking around Starlight noticed the scenery around her had also changed. Instead of warm halls of marble she found herself in the cold, dark, empty desert. "Aww come now Starlight Glimmer look at me. Are you truly so much weaker now than when we were at the village?" Starlight Glimmer looks up again and a pervasive lump forms in her throat. Her former self began to circle her. "Do you remember the feeling of having that power?" Starlight stops in front of Glimmer and smiles. "Come with me and let us Welcome you back to the fold of equality." That is when the sky above them exploded. "Enough!!" A voice unknown to the unicorn screamed. The bright flash evaporating the area leaving Starlight alone. Uncovering and shaking her head she tries to recover from the unexpected event. Opening her eyes Starlight saw one of the two being in equestria she hoped never to come near. "Starlight Glimmer" Princess Luna stated standing not far from her. Starlight confused by the sudden arrival of a princess. Dropped like a stone into the sand. Bowing as deeply as she physically could. Her ears pinned back as her body lightly trembled. She can feel Princess Luna stepping closer. Starlight looked up ever so slightly not daring to make eye contact with the Star controlling Alicorn. "Miss Glimmer please do not fear us...rise." Luna seemed to use a neutral if not gentle tone similar to Celestia. Starlight didn't understand what was happening? Starlight slowly rose standing before Luna. She would not look up however. She knew neither of the princess' despite accepting her presence were anything close to friendly. Luna spoke up again. "Starlight Glimmer please look at thee." Starlight reluctantly complies. The two looked upon each other before things continued. "You've had quite the day Starlight. We are not here to hurt thou please relax." The Alicorns horn lit up changing the area from the cold desert to a nice cool balcony overlooked by the moon high above. "My sister and I received a letter from our dear Twilight earlier today." Starlight stiffened. "What was described was disturbing to say the least. So we assured our sister we would get to the bottom of it." Earlier That Day: Canterlot A letter manifested itself from a mist floating through the throne room window. Celestia, always happy to here from her student, smiled as the letter unraveled before her. Dear Princess Celestia Today has not gone as planned. I tasked Starlight with the chore of helping a few of my friends this morning. However, contrary to my belief. Starlight could not handle it. I think she was violent towards Fluttershy and brainwashed her afterwards. Fluttershy's injuries were limited brusing and what seemed to be a patch covering her eye. Fluttershy seemed to defend Starlight at the hospital. Telling me to 'calm down'. Even going as far as having the gall to headbutt and slap me. These actions and a tense standoff later I decided to retreat and refer to you and Luna. I will wait for your quick response. Yours, Twilight Sparkle. To say the letter confused Celestia was an understatement. A violent confrontation in a public space, a hospital no less wasn't her student. Twilight would never do such a thing willingly. But after sending a guard to confirm the incident occurred and indeed it was confirmed after a brief period, Celestia's worries only grew. Looking to a nearby clock she saw it was nearing midday. Celestia then made her decision. "Guard when Luna wakes tell to meet me in my quarters after sunset as something disturbing has occurred." The guard nodded as Celestia got up. She could worry if this continued past tonight. Later That Evening "Sister?" Luna asked entering Celestia quarters. "What has happened that requires my attention, Your request was vague?" Celestia floats over Twilight's letter after reading it Luna understands. "I see sister this is disturbing ." "Yes Luna I ask that you look into this from the dream realm. You'll be faster than anything I could do." Luna understands what Celestia wanted done immediately. "Alright sister I'll get on this predicament immediately." Luna begins to walk out. "Get some sleep, I fear you'll need it my sister." Luna knew what Twilight was like and this wasn't like her. Luna could feel it in her gut something was wrong... so very wrong. Luna instead of heading to her own quarters went somewhere she had rarely gone since her return. A meditation chamber kept secret from even her personal guard. Only her most trusted had ever seen the door. Their was a good reason for this however. This is the location where Nightmare Moon first emerged from Luna's suppressed anger and grief. Running her hoof over the dust coated steel door she remembered those nights. The fear, the hate, the resentment. .... It still haunted her. The lunar alicorn took a deep breath.... and chuckled. Perhaps she and Miss Glimmer were not so different after all. Two powerful formerly evil beings haunted by their misdeeds. Steeling herself Luna entered the chamber. First up Fluttershy. Entering Fluttershy's dream was easy enough for Luna though she found a pleasant sight before her. The yellow pegasus was enjoying her time in a large flower garden. It seemed the recent events hadn't soured her attitude in the slightest. Smiling Luna floated down landing not far from Fluttershy. Slowly approaching Luna could feel the joy her young subject took in her activity. Too bad she has to ruin it. "Miss Fluttershy?" Luna asked continuing to get closer. Fluttershy for her part was suprised to see the princess but wasn't going to refuse the company. "Oh Princess Luna" Fluttershy stated smiling happily. "I wasn't expecting anypony else today. Fluttershy got up to bow but Luna stopped her with a raised hoof. Fluttershy standing back up sermed nervous. "If I can ask..umm what brings you here?" Luna smiled jestering for the newly vacant bench. "I'm sorry to spoil your time Fluttershy, however I come here tonight to talk about what happened earlier to today... at the hospital." With just the mention of the hospital sent a chill through the dream. Luna acting quickly rested a wing across the mares back. Her wing tip rubbing a small circle between the base of her wings. Luna's smile returned as a content sigh escaped Fluttershy's lips. After a few more minutes of this Luna retracted her wing and the two just sat there. Until Fluttershy asked a question. "Princess, are your here to find out what happened?" Luna shook her head. "I already know what happened. I here to get an individual point of view. First is you. So start when ready." Luna sat and listened carefully. From the assault on her by her ex- coltfriend. Through Starlight and their assumed fight. And finally the incident in the hospital. Though that wasn't all. "Fluttershy? Did Twilight seem to be not be acting as herself, For lack if a better term?" Luna asked. Fluttershy paused thinking back. A powerful chill ran down her spine as the memories surfaced. "She did seem to be highly aggressive. Almost as if she wasn't completely aware I guess." Fluttershy looked down in thought. Although I think I saw something change when I struck her. She seemed to regain some self awareness after." Luna hearing about everything was puzzled. She thanked Fluttershy and after a flash revived Fluttershy's pleasant dream. Next Starlight. "That is why I'm here Starlight Glimmer I wish to hear things from your point of view." Princess Luna said as Starlight processed everything she had just been told. But the alicorn still had one more unasked question. "Starlight, When was the first time Twilight started acting aggressive towards you?" Starlight considering this question tried to remember when it was Twilight started to change. Then it hit her. Starlight looked up at Princess Luna making eye contact. "She started changing when she first heard Cadence was pregnant... three weeks ago." Luna began thinking of ways that could correlate when her eyes grew with a horrible realization. "Starlight what is the date?" She asked looking at Starlight. Starlight looked confused for a moment before responding. It's April 14th, 1008 why? Is something wrong princess?" Luna thinking further she felt that date was important. Strange behavior?, seemingly random aggression?, 1008... The realization hit Luna like a comet. Trouble In ParadiseLuna galloped through the hall of Canterlot castle fear pulsing through her veins. She knew of only one being that can create such a shift in ones personality. She just hoped she wasn't too late. Bursting into the throne room Luna gasped for breath. "Celestia! Where is Twilight! Is she still in Ponyville?" Celestia's eyes were wide. Her sisters sudden appearance combined with her frantic state giving the sun diarc a shock. "Luna?" Celestia answered trotting over quickly. Celestia steadied her sister bringing her wing to Luna's face forcing eye contact. "Luna look at me what's happened? What has you is such a state?!" Luna coughed to clear her airway. "Twilight,Twilightin danger." She gasped out. "I spokewithStarlight and Fluttershy last night. Twilight Sparkle's behavior only started to change after receiving wordbyletterfrom the Crystal Empire." Celestia shook Luna trying to calm the alicorn to get a divination answer. "Luna" Celestia insisted "I need you to answer clearly. Your not making sense." Luna then gave the answer that sent a wave of cold through Celestia. "Sombra... I fear Sombra has taken control of Twilight Sparkle." Celestia couldn't believe what she was hearing. Just the notion alone was ridiculous But she didn't have time to process the string of information before Luna asked again. "Celestia, where is Twilight Sparkle?!" Celestia confused looked at Luna and gave the only answer she had. "Twilight and the others are on their way too the Crystal Empire. Luna you need to calm down. Sombra is dangerous yes but he cannot simply take control of one like Twilight she is to aware and isn't weak minded in any sense." Luna was reassured little by Celestia's explanation. "I don't believe that sister if I'm correct-" "If you are correct we shall deal with it when the time comes. For now let us depart we need to meet the others in the empire." With that the two teleported from the throne room. Miles away Starlight looked out the train window watching the scenery roll by. Starlight sat alone while the other 6 were scattered around the private car. Strangely enough Spike sat himself nearby. The fact he wasn't sitting close to Twilight for whatever reason seemed strange. But hell who was she to judge. Twilight, Applejack, Rainbow and Rarity sat on the opposite end of the car. Starlight sat herself as far away as possible. Starlight couldn't help but think about the dream last night. What was going on? What had Luna so scared? That got to her. If it scared Luna it had to be bad. But how does this date correspond with Twilight strange behavior? The more she though anout it the more her head hurt. Shaking her head Starlight settled in at least attempting to relax. If what Twilight had said was true she'd need it. Sunburst... Sunburst. After so many years, was she truely ready to see him again? Twilight seemed to think so but was she...truly ready? Only time would tell if that sentiment was reality. Would he accept her? She didn't have an answer and that in and of itself scared her far more than Twilight. "Starlight?" Her attention was diverted from her thoughts by a certain pegasi with a purple dragon on her back. "Is something wrong Starlight?" Spike askes jumping from Fluttershy's back to the bench seat. Starlight looked out the window away from the two. "I'm not sure if continuing on like this is right for me." She looks back at the two she felt she could almost call friends. "It's not that I hate you all. At least not anymore I am past that, but... Twilight is just making things so difficult I..." exhaling and slouching down in her seat Starlight to the floor her ears still picking up bits and pieces of the conversation on the other side of the car. "I just don't know anymore." "Starlight" Fluttershy softly asks as she approaches and Spike moves to allow her to sit next to Starlight. "Starlight it's okay. Your having a hard time adjusting, I understand. Twilight on the other hoof I'm sure is just under alot of stress. While yes she has been... difficult. I know she still cares." Still seeing the uncertainty behind Starlight's eyes Fluttershy thinks of something that could improve things. A thought pops into her head as Fluttershy readjusts in her seat. "What if I took you with me on vacation?" "Vacation?"Fluttershy simply nods leaning forward with a smile beaming from her lips. "Yep, I've been planning to take one for some time and I think I've just found the perfect time. So what do you think? After this is resolved we take a vacation just you and me. I was thinking about Vanhoover." Starlight smiles as a light chuckle escapes her. "You know what Fluttershy...I think I'll take you up on that. It sounds like fun." Fluttershy smiles again hoping off the bench and walking down the train car. Giving one last bright smile as she rejoined the others. That just left her and Spike. Wait... oh crud she forgot Spike was there too. Looking over about to apologize she stopped apon the sight next to her. The dragon in question had fallen asleep and it looked like he liked her tail as his pillow. Gently Starlight grabbed and readjusted his position so he instead used her legs as a pillow and her tail as a blanket. Laying down soon Starlight found the embrace of sleep as she decided a nap would do her good. It would be a long way to the empire and she needed all the rest she could get. "Ohh Starliiigghht" a voice echoed through the dark void. Starlight looked around seeing little but fog. "Come here my little star don't you want to spend time with me?" The dark chill filled Starlight's body like water sending her into a terror induced sprint. "You can't escape me little star I know everything about you." Starlight didn't stop she couldn't stop she had to get away she had one chance. A wall appeared in front of her and the nightmare transformed. A shadow slowly crept over her. Horror filling her mind. "Starlight... Starlight??" The far away voice made Starlight lightly shift as she starting to wake from her sleep. Moaning she cracks open an eye to see... "Rarity?" "It's time to wake up dear. We've arrived everyone is waiting." Rarity says smiling at her. Yawning Starlight sits up seeing Spike wasn't laying on her legs anymore. With a stretch Starlight follows Rarity out of the train and onto the platform. The small chill running along her skin slightly dulling the growing headache within her head. The Crystal City... so this is where Sunburst has lived for so many years. So immersed is she in the sight Starlight fails to hear Twilight calling out to her.... "Starlight!" "Ahh!" Starlight jumps almost hitting the train she just exited. "Can you Please pay attention." Twilight gave her a light scowl together with her annoyed tone. "Umm right sorry." Starlight apologies as Twilight continues talking. "As I was saying the five of us will be going with my brother to the palace. Spike you will take Starlight and head over to Sunburst's so she can put everything behind her and they can reconnect with each other. Sound good everyone?" Those present aside from Fluttershy and Starlight all nod. This is unnoticed by Twilight as she turns with most of the group following. Only Spike and Fluttershy stay with Starlight, As Fluttershy walks closer. "Starlight I'm sorry to leave like this but.." Starlight however was quick to stop her unnecessary apology. "It's alright Fluttershy you go catch up with the others. This may seem weird but for once I agree with Twilight, even if she's borderline insane." Starlight muttered knowing today was gonna suck. "Anyway I should catch up with the others." Fluttershy starts away when she stops. "And Starlight, Your a good pony I know you have it in you, believe in yourself and I think you'll find life much more fulfilling." With those words Fluttershy flew away to catch up with the others. Watching Fluttershy fly off in between the crystalline buildings Starlight found her lips stretching into a genuine smile. She had friends again. Now if only Sunburst would be just as easy. Walking through the Crystal city was a strange feeling for Starlight. An entire city basically made out of crystals foundation and all? Coming to the central plaza Starlight quickly took notice of one very peculiar statue smack in the center. There standing proudly was a crystal sculpture of Spike holding a heart. "Spike... Is that a sculpture of you?" Starlight asked stopping as they passed by. "Oh ho ho yeah!" He chuckled "The crystal ponies created it after we defeated Sombra." "Why??" Spike stopped looking back at the unicorn. "Well..." he started before stopping himself. "We really shouldn't get sidetracked we have to get you to Sunburst's.. h- hey!" Spike found himself levitating into a nearby seat via Starlight's magical aura. "Oh no we're not going anywhere yet. I want to here all about this." Starlight sat herself down on a nearby lawnchair as a small group of admirers surrounded the little dragon. A smile came apon Starlight's face as she shoved a hoof full of popcorn into her mouth. Knowing Spike couldn't resist feeding his ego. She knew she won this round. At The Castle The group of six ponies made their way through the brightly pleasant halls of the Crystal palace. Many admiring how it was constructed all but three. At the back of the group Fluttershy walked alongside Rainbow The two talking about recent events. "So when you went to the hospital it wasn't because of Starlight?" Fluttershy shakes her head and smiles. "No if it wasn't for Starlight I could have had much worse than just this fracture." Fluttershy says jestering to the pad on her cheek. "Doesn't that hurt, I mean I've been hurt before but that just looks like you should still be in the hospital." "In all honesty I should be home resting but if I can yell at Twilight while just suffering a large hoof to the face I can be here. Besides I need to keep Twilight's aggression towards Starlight in check." If Twilight heard Fluttershy she didn't let it show as the group arrived in the bedroom. All their attention drawn to the bundle held to Cadence' chest. Cadence and Shining looked like death. Pale skin, bloodshot eyes, matted hair, and deep bags under their eyes. Cadence looked up from the bundle. "Oh! Twilight it's yawn it's good to see you. How was your..." she slowed yaening again. "Cadence, Shining when was the last time you slept?" Twilight asked worryingly as Cadence put the bundle in a bed next to her. Oh it's okay I think it's only been two days...or three, maybe?" She was so mentally tired she didn't know what day it was. By the stars! Twilight thought horrified. Seeing Twilight's horrified expression she smiled. "Don't worry I think she's finally asleep." "Only took four hours this time new record" Shining cheered with the enthusiasm of a drugged billy goat. Finally falling over with a hard thud. "Well that was.... interesting." Rarity commented as Rainbow and Twilight looked on disturbed. Completely missing Applejack' sympathetic look at the couple. Fluttershy just giggled directed Applejack and Rarity to help get them in bed leaving Twilight and Rainbow to process what they just saw. The two horrified ponies looked at each other agreeing and hoping to never experience that kind of hell. Elsewhere Starlight grumbled under her breath Spike had finished his story and quickly put them back on track. Now they walked along the stone steets looking for that ever elusive house. Now it seemed to be time after so long the two stood infront of a small single story house. "Spike I can't do this! I can't just walk up and after what ten-twelve years just do THIS!" Starlight's anxiety was syarting to overtake her before Spike took her face in his claws. "Starlight do you not trust Fluttershy?" The sentence caused Starlight to stop. "Wh-What?" She asked confused as if not understanding what was asked. Spike looked at her and asked again "Starlight Glimmer.. do you not trust Fluttershy after what she said. She said she believed in you she said she believes you to be a better pony than what Twilight sees. Now do you think she was lying or do you believe you deserve better than what you were?" A shocked silence follows as a now calm Starlight stood and looked to the door walking further she steadily raised a hoof. Author's Note If you read the original you'll know this is the part when things startedto take a sharp right into very dark territory.
