Everyday in the "training" facility was the same. Nothing ever change. It was the same thing over and over again. Nothing ever changed. To Berry, it was like reliving the same nightmare everyday. The facility was not a nice place, nor was it ever. Kids like Berry had to obey orders, otherwise they were "disicplined" and that included getting beaten up and mistreated in horrible ways. Berry had seen just how bad it could get. His friend Des returned with a swollen eye because he didn't want to do any more training. He told them he was tired and they responded with a hard hit to his right eye. His other friend Amber returned with a fracture on her skull for disobeying a small order. It disgusted Berry to the point where he would want to send whoever was responsible through five walls, but he had to keep his anger in check as to not scare his little sister, who was sleeping on the bed. He looked over at her and saw her stomach slowly raising up and down due to her breathing. Berry couldn't help but think, Where would they go? Berry's sister started to wake up she began to cry softly. He felt his heart melt over how his sister felt. He went over to comfort her. His sister saw him and got up went towards him. She buried her head on his belly and hugged his waist. Berry embraced his little sister and rubbed her back and soothingly said.
"shhhh...It's ok Lily. It's ok..." But even Berry wasn't sure what he was saying was the truth. A dreadful feeling was in his stomach. Everything was NOT ok...but he didn't have the courage to say it.
"I wanna go home..." Lily sniffed still hugging his waist. Berry looked at Lily, getting teary eyed himself. He said in a broken voice.
"I-I don't know if we can go home...Mom and Dad....they're...." Berry stopped and started to cry himself. "Gone. Berry then thought of something. It might be the stupidest idea, but it might work. He kneeled down to Lily's level and whispered.
"Listen, I'm going to make a run for it...I know you want to be with me but I promise I'll get some help and come back." Lily looked at Berry with those sad puppy eyes and tears leaking from them. He couldn't help but feel a bit guilty. He leaned foward and kissed the top of Lily's forehead. "Don't cry ok? I promise I'll be back. And you have Des and Amber to keep you company..." Lily finally understood and tearfully nodded.
"Don't leave me....please," she said softly.
All of sudden they heard footsteps coming from thier way as well as voices.
"This one seems to have the power to move objects without needing contact," a voice said.
"Interesting...." came another voice. "And what about his sister?" it asked.
Berry didn't know who the first voice belonged to, but immedialtey recognized the other to belong to the Chance. The leader of the ChaoticCorps and the one who oversees it's operations.
"His sister....she's far too young for any powers yet. We should probably wait until she's older." replied the first voice.
Chance thought about it for a moment. "Very well then. I have no doubt these children will be valuable. They will certainly give us a quite a good fortune once we sell them," he said in a calm tone. Berry felt a dread in the pit of his stomach. The thought of Child Labor Trafficking was too much for him. He heard the cell door open and saw Chance walk in.
"Come on, Berry. we need to run a few expirements with you." he told him. Berry slowly got up and walked towards Chance and his henchman., but not before giving his little sister one final hug.
When Berry approached Chance, he suddenly struck out his hands and the latter and his henchman were sent back in opposite directions. They hit the wall with a thud. Chance groaned as he got back up. He took out his death ray and pointed it at Berry but was met by another invisible giant hand that sent the gun flying out of his hand.
Berry decided to make a run for it. He rushed past the cell door to the nearest exit.
"FIND HIM. DON'T LET HIM ESCAPE!" He heard Chance's voice yell throughout the building. More guards came in Berry's way but he sent them flying to the side, hitting the walls. He escaped the building and continued to run. He didn't look back at all. He ran until he was out of breath, then he decided to look back. The building was no longer in sight. He continued to walk until he had spotted a city. He looked up and read out loud, "Canterlot City." Not wanting to waste anytime, he went out to see if anyone was willing to help him. He also had to be quick, because it was approaching night time, and it was getting really dark. As he walked in the city, he saw people's head turning towards his direction. Most presumambly they were confused as to why he was without a parent or legal guardian.
Berry didn't know how he was going to explain his problem to anyone. What are the chances that someone would believe him when he says that superpowers exsist? He finnally came across an apartment and saw a slight open window leading into it. He took a deep breath and went in.
