Twilight thought back to when the rebellion was simply a rumor in the wind only a month ago. And how the chaos and the power of this rebellion came out of nowhere and managed to rally 3 quarters of equestria and there allies citizen’s in only a month. Since Starlight had turned on them and restarted her quest for equality things had gotten bad. But this time she didn’t want to remove cutie marks but instead wanted to remove royals and those who thought of themselves as superior as she called it. And thanks to Starlight’s speeches and the shoddy leadership of the 2 princess sisters and now Twilight most of the ponies and others citizens of the newly United equestria agreed with her. While most accepted that Starlight had just snapped and gone crazy again her friends included. One thing was nagged at Twilight. Why? And why now? After all these years being reformed did she restart this insanity? Twilight questioned in her mind constantly trying to figure it out. “Princess?” Her Steel Helm her head guard asked knocking on her door and snapping Twilight out of her thoughts. “Yes?” Twilight asked “We just received word from the scout’s Starlight is held up in a camp in appleloosa. Her troops haven’t seen her in over a week.” Steel Helm reported in a stern tone. “I see... you can go” Twilight told him her tone giving away that her mind was distant and her demeanor was sad and disturbed. “Princess if I may?” Steel Helm questioned. “You may” Twilight said as respectfully as possible. “You can’t change ponies who don’t wanna be changed” Steel Helm stated in complete seriousness. Twilight only barely heard him still lost in her own thoughts whilst staring out the window at the gate and seeing the still burning torches of the rebels outside the gate waiting for a break in the guard’s perimeter. Her thoughts still focused on Starlight her once prized student and dear friend. CELESTIA AND LUNA : We’re just chilling on the beach of silver shoals getting a tan. Luna was currently reading a romance fanfiction titled mistress Nightmare Moon and Sombra the gentlecolt of romance. Luna knew it was a trashy fanfiction novel she bought off the black market and to be honest the author Reactception sucked but the plot was decent so she ignored the spelling errors and grammatical issues and read onward since there was nothing better to do. Meanwhile Celestia laid on the other side of the beach tanning in the sun and napping peacefully. The only thing celestia seemed to do anymore at least in Luna’s opinion. While Luna was reading she suddenly had a better idea. It’d been over a year since she’d visited the dream world and she missed it. So why the Tartarus wouldn’t see. She activated her magic and the darkness of the dream world appeared around them as the black consumed everything around her. Even though she’d done it hundreds of times and knew she was really getting transported to the dream world she always had the tiniest fear that the world around would actually disappear leaving her alone. In a dark abyss... in the moon... forever in the endless darkness she was in for a thousand years. And usually she found comfort once the dreams appeared around her. That was not the case this time she was greeted with screams of terror, suffering cities burning and battle grounds. She drifted from dream to dream trying to settle them but even her magic couldn’t sate the fear and bloodlust of the dreams. She tried to help hundreds of creatures dreams. But no matter how hard she tried there emotions were too out of control. She was considering cutting her losses and going to wake up her sister so they could address the issues in the waking world and go aid Twilight with whatever the issue was. When suddenly she heard a small voice calling for help from one of the dreams. It was desperate like all the others but instead of being loud and angry or full of fear and cornered. This voice was small scared and full of sadness and pain. Luna traced the voice to a small dreamscape which only had a small birdcage with one pony in it the “cause” of all this contention. The one Starlight Glimmer was sitting in cage sobbing try to call for help through her sobs. As much as Luna didn’t want to help the little pony she found herself unable to ignore a pony in so much pain. “Feeling guilty for thine evil starlight?” Luna quickly asks in a cold tone of voice. “Luna?” Starlights asks as she looks up her eyes bloodshot her voice cracked and mane in a state of chaos. “Yes Starlight it tis me” Luna declares in a steady tone of coldness distain. “Help me” she said just above a whisper just barely lifting her head again to look Luna in the eyes. That’s when Luna saw it a rock had been hollowed out and carved into the shape of a horn and place over starlights horn like some kind of sheath. And though it was only a dream Luna could tell her magic was being suppressed by the vile instrument. “Starlight who did this to you?” Luna ask in genuine shock and horror. “I don’t know her name but she’s a yellow mare with a magenta mane and a streak of white” Starlight whimpered in pure agony and pain. “I’ll find this pony and stop her” Luna declared in a haughty tone. “You have to run. Their coming for you. Get out of Silver Shoals is going to be attacked the rebels care coming to capture you.” Starlight barely managed to finish the warning before getting woken up and sucked into the waking world. Luna was sure now that Starlight was being manipulated somehow and wasn’t the one responsible for the bloodshed and violence that she had seen in the dreams of the other creatures in equestria and the surrounding lands. But more pressing the perpetrators of the violence were coming for her and her sister. Luna rushed to transport herself out of the dream world and into the waking world. She popped out of the dream world right next to her sister and rushed over shaking her sister to wake her out of her dreamless sleep. “Ummm Luna 5 more minutes” Celestia groaned in annoyance and tiredness. “Celestia I don’t have time to force you awake today. We gotta go!” Luna yelled shaking her sister even harder then before. “What the buck is it bitch?” Celestia exclaims angrily as her eyes shooting open and shooting daggers at Luna’s worry filled face. Upon seeing the genuine worry on Luna’s face Celestia instantly softened. “What is it sister?” Celestia asked in a softened tone of voice full of concern and interest “Bad ponies are coming for us. *a pause as Luna collected her breath* we need to get back to canterlot I have information to give Twilight.” Luna Exclaims breathless from expending so much energy in the dream world. Celestia stared at her sister in bewilderment and concern and muttered “what?” That’s when they heard it about a hundred hoof steps coming from the resort town known as Silver Shoals towards their remote beach. As Celestia looked at the hill at the end of the beach she saw an entire army of ponies wielding weapons and bearing flags with equal signs on them. As the marched over the hill one of the stallions stepped forward and and spoke in a deep voice. “Behold are once tyrant princesses and the destroyers of are peace and our equality. They are the cause of our problems they only cause problems. But don’t fear them they shall be punished for their evil and inability to bring anything but suffering. Today the princesses tomorrow canterlot.” As he finished his obviously well rehearsed speech he was met with thunderous cheering and and hooves being pumped into the air. “What?” Celestia muttered in genuine confusion and disbelief. And without another word the army of rebels surged forward towards the princesses preparing there weapons. “Sister go to Twilight and help her. I shall hold them off” Luna announces in earnest flying off towards the army. “No I won’t let you do it alone sister” Celestia says as she takes off after Luna towards the approaching army. THE MAIN 6 : After the others had pulled Twilight out of her room and thoughts. They were having a meeting in the throne room and trying to figure out how to handle the rebellion. An argument started within the group : Rainbow Dash, Rarity and the guards all wanting to fight. While Applejack, Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy wanted to find a peaceful solution. And Twilight was so distracted by her thoughts she didn’t side with anyone. Their bickering was soon interrupted by Steel Helm rushing into the throne room yelling. “Princess the rebels have doubled their numbers right outside the gates and more of them keep showing up at our wall’s ” Steel Helm reported In a louder then normal voice. “See there gonna fight us whether we fight them or not” Dash shouts in a I told you so tone of voice. Applejack opened her mouth to argue but before she could say a word a loud speaker voice came from outside the gate. “Fellow equality supporters today is a day of great celebration and uhh rejoice. I have just received word that our operations were successful and uhh together we will rise” the voice announces through the loud speaker. “Umm mam what operations” a voice yelled from behind the gate in the crowd. Followed by mutters of agreement from the crowd. “Operations?” Pinkie asks Twilight in a whisper. “We have received word the crystal empire has fallen we now have the royals known as Shining Armor, princesse Cadence, their advisers and even the youngest princess Flurry Heart. As soon as Twilight heard this she darted through the window shattering it into a million pieces and was at the front gate in 10 seconds flat. “What’d you do to my favorite niece?” Twilight shouts angrily holding a glare that could rival Fluttershy’s stare for pure intensity. The voice (aka Screwball the mare) was standing right by the gate and did a 180 turn and looked Twilight in the eyes. The rest of the Main 6 and Spike rushed out the door. Only to see what could only be described as a staring match between Twilight and Screwball. “Guess what princess?” Screwball asks drawing out the cess of princess which resulted in between a hissing sound and a lisp. “What?” Twilight asks while still giving Screwball the most intense glare ever seen in equestria. “We didn’t just catch that brat and you nuisance of a family we also caught miss sun herself along with her emo ass sister” Screwball gloats smugly smirking at Twilight. Twilight finally snapped and using her magic ripped the gate open and charges at Screwball magic charged up. Only for Rainbow to grab her by the haunches and Applejack to lasso her pulling back. In that split second a loud CRACK could be heard as the metal baseball bat that Screwball had hidden behind her hit the ground where Twilight would have been if it weren’t for Applejack and Rainbow Dash jumping in. Everyone stood in stunned silence at Screwball’s actions. Only to be snapped out of it by Spike running over and slamming the gate shut locking it in that split second everyone was stunned. “Screwball you could’ve killed Twilight if you’d hit her” Rarity squeals in shock and horror. “Exactly royals don’t deserve to live after all they’ve done!” Screwball exclaims happily practically grin from ear to ear the most crazed grin anyone had ever seen plastered on her face. “You’d kill Twilight! but she your her friend” Pinkie questions in utter disbelief and confusion “She Not my friend anymore. She’s a royal now and all royals must be made equal or die. She chanted followed by the rest of the rebels chanting “all royals must be made equal or die” pumping theirs hooves into the air at the end. “Starlight that sick buck. I’ll kill her for pulling this brainwashing crap a 3rd time” Rainbow mutters more pissed off then she ever had been. “Really you’ll kill me Dashie?” Starlight responded poofing into existence next to Screwball. “Yeah you deranged psychopath we let you in and you betrayed us and I’ll happily put you in the ground for it” Dash shouts back in anger, frustration and worst of all for the element of loyalty betrayal/heartache over her lost friend. “Oh alright” she responded unflinching only moving if completely necessary. “Starlight your too dedicated for your own good accepting death threats from your ex best friend without even flinching. Masterfully done” the cloaked mare know as flimsy straw and Starlight’s right hand declares to the entirety of the rebels outside the gate and the Mane 6. As she spoke these words Starlight walked up directly in front of the gate and paused for a second. Then spoke in a somber tone saying... “That’s the point they aren’t my friends they are just my ex friends” she says in the most pointed tone possible. At the emphasis on ex friends both Pinkie and Fluttershy wept in sorrow and pain. While Applejack, Rarity and Rainbow Dash glowered and glared in anger and hate. Twilight and Spike however noticed one thing the rest didn’t..... “We are coming for you at dawn tomorrow you better be ready” Starlight says in a tone dripping with venom and ire. Then Starlight backed off to their camp followed by the rebels and misfits who Starlight calmed followers. As the Mane 6 went inside the castle to strategize about the up coming battle. Twilight only thought of that one thing what she and Spike had noticed.... A single tear leaked out of Starlight’s left eye immediately after she said not my friends anymore. Twilight was more sure then ever that Starlight could be saved again. Twilight wasn’t sure if Starlight was going back to her bad ways or if she was controlled or maybe blackmailed either way Twilight knew her student and best friend was still in there somewhere. Now to prove it to her friends..... Author's Note Yay I love the way this story is gong already I’m kinda writing it by the seed of my pants. I do so apologize that it’s moving so fast but I just want it to be a fast story and it won’t be quite as fast in the future chapters. //-------------------------------------------------------// Discussion’s (the war part 2) //-------------------------------------------------------// Discussion’s (the war part 2) CELESTIA AND LUNA : Celestia and Luna were now prisoners in one of their rebel camps. “Ughh Luna what happened?” Celestia questions drowsy and barely opening up her eyes. Celestia glanced at Luna passed out in the next cell over she didn’t look great in fact she looked God awful in celestia’s opinion. Her mane partially torn out her, muzzle covered in bruises and her body shivering lightly not from the cold but the pain. “Luna answer me “celestia demands in worry and her face clenched in motherly worry. After all she’d always thought of Luna more like a disapproving mother thought of her daughter Then an elder sister thought of her younger sister. “Wake up” celestia continued to demand in pure unadulterated concern. Even trying to reach her hoof into the other cage but couldn’t quite reach into her sisters cage. She even tried to ignite her horn to shake Luna with her magic. But the instant she lit her horn the magic was drained out and sucked into a a small metal pole in the center of camp. “No” celestia exclaims in desperation and despair. Celestia proceeded to do something she hadn’t done since she first banished Luna to the moon.... She sobbed. 3 HOUR’S LATER : Celestia had worn herself out from the sobbing and the emotional overload and was currently hiding her head underneath her wings. “Celestia?” Luna questions as her eyes fluttered open and she lifted her head finally awake and somewhat alert. “Luna!” Celestia exclaimed trying to tackle her sister only to be reminded of the bars between them and stopping just shy of the bars. “Sister where are we?” Luna asks in confusion holding a bump on her head. “We’ve been captured by those ponies who attacked us” celestia explains trying to keep her mask of composure and calm even though internally she was panicking. “They say their leader is starlight glimmer” celestia continued to explain. “That’s horse shit” Luna quickly replies not even skipping a beat. Celestia was gonna ask how her sister knew that but decided better not to question Luna and her mysterious ways. “I have to help her. But first we have to get out of here” Luna mutters to herself and then lights her horn to enter the dream world once again only for her magic to be sucked off and into the pole in the center of the camp. “That won’t work here” here starlight declares as she appears next to luna’s cage in a flash of teleporting magic. “YOU” celestia shouts at the top of her lungs. “me?” Starlight asks in the most mock tone her voice could muster. “How could you do this to Equestia?” celestia asks I a blind rage gesturing to the burning ruins of the city they were in. “I know isn’t it so much better” starlight smugly grinned. “I swear once I get out of here I’ll”.... celestia’s rant was cut off by Luna who yelled “shut up” at celestia. “Bu but she....” celestia stammers at Luna. “Show thy self” Luna declares towards the shadows. Celestia continued to stammer unsure what was happening until a yellow pony with magenta hair walked out in a dark cloak. The pony strutted to luna’s cage “should known miss magical prodigy would’ve communicated with you through dreams” she spoke in the softest voice either of the princesses had ever heard. She reached her hoof into luna’s cage offering to shake her hooves and begins by saying “I’m Melody” she cockily smiles at Luna trying to put on a facade of innocent coyness. In response Luna smacked at melody’s hoof barely missing as melody pulled her hoof out drone the bars “YOU CAN’T FOOL ME CHILD” Luna angrily shouted in the canterlot voice directly at melody’s face. Melody wasn’t even shaken by this outburst she simply shrugged grinning from ear to ear smugness leaking from her body language. “Eh I figured as much but it was worth a shot” she calmly said in that sickly sweet voice. “Your a monster turning equestria on its head like this. Controlling ponies and stealing magic” Luna angrily retorted. “Now whatever do you mean? As far as I see it equestria had turned itself on its head led by the disgruntled ex villain starlight glimmer” melody responds the cockiness in her tone cone across as more menacing then it should. “Isn’t that right starlight?” Starlights eyes briefly flashed green and she nodded muttering “of course” In a almost robotic voice. After a moment of shocked dread and silence Luna tried to reason with the controlled mare “mrs glimmer remember when you helped me and celestia stop fighting. By being yourself and going for it no matter the consequences” Seeing what her sister was trying to accomplish celestia jumped in. “Twilight is so proud of you. The real you she even planning on holding a party in your honor before this all happened. She was so excited to do something to honor you her hood and faithful student. I’ve never seen her do proud of anyone” celestia concludes putting emphasis on the anyone at the end. Melody snickered “really your trying to break MY control! She only responds to MY visual and auditory signals. Her soul and dreams maybe hers but her BODY and VOICE belong to ME now.” Melody shouts angrily glaring and looking Luna directly into the eyes. As she said soul and dreams. Melody began to prance away followed by starlight who was still being controlled Trying one last time celestia shouts “rainbow dash, rarity, applejack, pinkie pie, fluttershy, spike and twilight sparkle will always love you. They will always be your closest friends and will never forget you!” The starlight drone turned around and green magic drifted off her body in a big clump. Melody sighs in annoyance and mild aggravation. “I told you already that won’t.....” melody never finished as starlight her eyes back to normal tackled her. The two unicorns struggled on the ground fighting each other. Exchanging blows with their hooves and trying to headbutt with their horns. Starlight delivered blow after blow shouting “you bucking monster what did you do to me? What did you make me do?” Only for princess Luna to yell to starlight “stop you’ll kill her” worried at the state of melody’s face covered in bruises and blood already. Starlight glanced up snapped out of her blind rage at the sight of Luna and celestia. But in that split second that starlight looked up melody used her horn to deliver a glancing blow on the side of starlights front right hoof. Making starlight wince in pain pulling back and as a result getting off melody. Melody took this opportunity to pull out the metal horn covering Luna had seen on starlight in the dreamworld. And placed it on starlights horn. Starlight immediately collapsed into a heap screaming in pain as the metal siphoned off her magic straight from it’s source. As starlight screamed in agony melody spoke her trigger “rainbow of friendship” and in an instant starlight stood up straight like a drone as the magic continued to drained from her horn. “You’ll regret that!” melody snapped at the princesses as she pulled the metal horn covering off starlights horn. “I have faith Twilight and her friends will figure out what your doing and stop you” celestia retorted in an unusual snappy tone. Melody scoffed “please the won’t even look at me if their to busy looking at starlight a person with a history of mental problems and villainy. Heck by the time I’m done they’ll hate her and all that love die her you talk about will dissipate into nothing more then memories. As melody and the controlled starlight marched back into the main part of the camp. melody stopped and grabbed screwball by the mane and said “the sister princesses tried to escape send some of your troops down to prod at them with spears, to taunt them, to throw rocks heck anything sort of killing them is fine.” She then released screwballs mane. Screwball then turned around and shouted at one of her platoons of rebels and shouted “you heard the lady have at it” the crowd cheered and headed down to torture the once proud leaders of the fallen land of equestria. THE MAIN 6 AND SPIKE : Steel helm was currently giving his battle plan to defend canterlot castle to the mane 6 in the throne room. “And the Pegasus and gryphons should should stay on the turrets and towers so they can swoop down on the enemy’s ground forces and defend against the enemies air forces” steel helm says wrapping up his plan for the defense of the last stronghold in equestria. Twilight nods at steel helm indicating he’s dismissed. He politely bows and walks backward out of the room shutting the door behind him. “Girls I have an issue I want to discuss with you” twilight begins to say in a soft. “Ah course twilight you can tell us anything twi” applejack replies in her classic country drawl. “I want to try to re reform starlight” twilight says hoping she hasn’t over stepped her bound’s “NO” fluttershy of all ponies responds instantly. Making twilights heart sink the one pony she had thought would be willing to at least consider it rejected it instantly. “I know you love her twi and we loved her too but *applejacks voice cracked* she done too much.”And without another word left the room with fluttershy followed quickly by rarity wearing a disapproving look and casting it at twilight and a glowering rainbow dash who looked like she wanted to take someponies head off. The only one who stayed in the throne room with twilight was pinkie (and spike of course). And pinkie walked over to twilight her hair drooping but not completely deflated and says “I’ll help you twilight. I made a promise not just any promise a pinkie promise to be friends with starlight forever no matter what. And you never give up on a friend” pinkie assures twilight trying to sound cheery but instead sounding sad and desperate. “Right twilight? we never give up on a friend” spike asks hoping for reassurance only to get a saddened twilight walking away from him and pinkie to her bedroom for the night. Twilight was reconsidering everything she thought was important and wondering if her friends were right was starlight truly unredeemable.... (Authors note this was the original ending of the chapter but I decided that chapter 3 was too short and combined chapter 2 discussions and chapter 3 the siege together) SCREWBALL AND MELODY : Screwball was currently laying in her bed in boredom and insomnia. 23 minutes of tossing and turning later: she decides to get up and go torture the princesses again. As she arrived at their cages she noticed they too were awake and chatting quietly with each other. Her eyes instantly narrow in suspicion and curiosity. She being the psycho she was decided to scare them.... “PLOTTING your escape?” she shouted jumping out from behind some of the other cages. Her scare succeeded and the 2 sisters jumped startled by the sudden sound. “What do you want?” Luna spat in annoyance at the psychos intrusion on their talk of escape. “ “Me? I want to now what you were talking about?” She responds cocking her head to the side lifting her bat slightly as a thinly veiled threat. “None of your business nutjob” Luna responds unshaken by the threats. In response screwball gently set down her bat something she practically never did as the bat was as close to glued to her hoof as you could get without glue. And walked over to the nearest fire pit and pulled out a branding iron “ya sure it ain’t my business?” She threatens in a angry tone. “I’m sure” celestia declares as Luna freezes at the sight of the branding iron. “That’s to bad... but hey at least I’ll be able to hear you scream again” screwball responds her eyes practically bloodshot with glee. Celestia didn’t even flinch when screwball came over to her cage brandishing the branding iron. “Princesses don’t scream” celestia said in the most stern tone she could muster as she stood up and looked screwball directly in the eyes. As soon as celestia looked her in the eyes screwball thrust the branding iron into celestia’s hip on the right side right next to the cutie mark of the once proud sun princess. Even though celestia was clearly In agony she didn’t scream or even whimper once. This mad screwball even angrier she angrily screamed “JUST SCREAM ALREADY” as she thrust the iron into celestia’s side harder. But even so celestia showed more willpower then screwball had ever seen and didn’t even scream. Angrily screwball pulled the iron out of celestia’s cage and thrust it back into the fire. And proceeded to retrieve her baseball bat from the ground. About half the troops came running down the hill to the cages having been woken by screwball’s shouting. “General screwball are you alright?” Asks the first of the soldiers to get down the hill. Screwball simply sighed and brushed her hair out of her eyes. And after a full minute of silence she responded “wake the redress of the troops were going in tonight!” “Tonight? But general starlight said...” he was interrupted by screwball’s bat pressing against his snout. “I know what she said but we’re going in tonight” screwball responds her tone getting more unstable and crazed by the second. “Yes mam” the soldier quickly responded snapping to attention and quickly turning to run up the hill. “Hold it” she quickly exclaims. He quickly spins around looking at her again awaiting order’s from the crazed general. She looks directly at the fence line of canterlot castle and says “and bring me the dynamite while your at it” Meanwhile in starlight/melody’s tent. Melody was lightly humming to herself and fluff up her hair in a mirror while a completely still starlight stood there under the thrall of melody. “I think i need some more spray to keep the proper amount of bounce in my hair. What do you think starlight?” Looking back at the controlled pony who on the outside was a drone and on the inside was a desperate angry pony trying to escape. “Oh that’s right you can’t talk... I’ll fix that” melody exclaims clapping her front 2 hooves together 3 times and muttering “mango” Starlight regained control of her mouth and her eyes but the rest of her body was still frozen in place. “Why do you do this? Talk to me like this I mean?” Starlight asks in genuine confusion over melody’s actions. “Everyone needs someone or something to talk to. And your the only one other then those ditzy princesses who knows what I’m doing so you are the only one I can talk to honestly missy.”melody exclaims as she taps starlight on the nose. “You’re evil” starlight exclaims angry for all the things this mare had made her do and convinced everyone else she was doing. “Starlight be reasonable. I’m not evil just political.... I see a world we’re the royals look down us they make the rules and punish their citizens for breaking them. And then turn around and break the rules they made. And they punish themselves. NO they don’t they just sweep all their dirty secrets under the rug. They’ve caused how many incidents that almost caused war..... they’ve made how many villains with THEIR SYSTEM....” she concluded her rant and calmly brushed herself off. “Oh silly starlight you almost made me mess up my hair” and lightly bounced her hair adjusting it slightly with her hooves. A loud explosion shook the tent... “Huh screwball” sighs melody. “As much as I respect you and our chat’s starlight I’m afraid I’m gonna have to take over again” melody says in genuine disappointment. “But...” starlight was cut off by melody yelling “rainbow of friendship” and triggering starlight into her drone state. TWILIGHT SPARKLE : As twilight was about to fall asleep a explosion shook the entire castle. Twilight quickly rushed out of bed and to the window to see the rebels charging over what was left of the fence. Twilight quickly ran to the bedroom across from hers and threw the door open yelling “SPIKE WAKE UP.” Spike quickly jumps out of the covers of his bed startled by the sudden explosion followed by twilights yelling a a good 40 seconds later. Twilight grabbed spike and pulled him roughly down the stairs to alert her other friends to the danger. As she got to the foyer the front door of the castle burst open with a resonating CRACK. “Hey there princess” exclaimed screwball as she led the rebels in through what was left of the door. The guards of the castle quickly ran and flew past twilight to address the danger. Twilight wanted to help the guards but though getting the girls was more important so she ran up the other staircase that led to her friends rooms. Twilight practically barreled into applejack who was leading the rest of her friends down the stairs that twilight was running up. “Girls the rebels have breached the castle” twilight announces in a panic breathing unsteadily from all the running. “We know twilight what can we do?” rarity responds quickly. Before twilight can respond the rebels having quickly dispatched most of the guards charged up the staircase towards the mane 6. The rebels held their makeshift weapons and there hooves high as they charged happy that the final royal of equestria was gonna go down. Twilight and the gang charged up the stairs to escape the on coming mob knowing they couldn’t win even rainbow dash who wanted to fight knew it would’ve been a hopeless battle. But the mob was quickly catching up to them as the ran up the stairs. Just as the mob was about to over take them fire streak ex wonderbolt and now castle guardsmen zoomed through one of the windows into the staircase shattering the window and knocking the 30 ponies at the front of the mob over the railing down through the gap between the stairs. Unfortunately he also fell having broken his wing in the impact and died hitting the bottom along with the 30 dead rebels. His final words would always be remembered by the mane 6 “for the princess and equestria” was what he had said as he tumbled over the railing. The girls final got to the top of the stairs and onto the roof only to see the battle between the guards and the rebels on the ground. Steel helm and the flyers were on the roof that twilight and her friends had just gotten to. The flyers swooping in and attacking and steel helm directed them from the rooftop. As the girls ran to steel helm who was on the other side of the roof. The door they had just come through burst open as screwball came through wearing her usual cloak and wielding her bat and was charging the main 6. “I’ll handle her!” twilight exclaims as her friends continue running to steel helm. Twilight shoots a blast of magic at screwball who didn’t flinch as the blast headed straight for her face. But instead of hitting screwball the magic zipped to the side and was absorbed by screwballs bat. “What?” Twilight muttered stunned by the sudden surprise. Screwball however took this opportunity and continued to charge at the stunned twilight baseball bat raised. Right as screwball went to swing her bat at twilight’s head rainbow dash appeared and tackled screwball knocking the bat out of her hands and down onto the edge of the rooftop. As rainbow dash and screwball wrestled fluttershy and pinkie snapped twilight out of her shock by yelling her name. Rainbow dash was trying to subdue the crazed pony she was holding down. Screwball lunged with her mouth and bit dash’s wing ripping out some feathers dash yowled in pain. Screwball took this opportunity to squeeze her back leg out from under dash’s body and kicked dash in the groin and screwball yelled “ya maybe a girl but it still hurts.” Dash collapsed in pain and anguish. And screwball got up running to the edge and grabbing her bat. Unfortunately for screwball she didn’t see applejack charging up on her. As screwball turned around bat now in hoof applejack was right there and with all her might applejack bucked screwball in the chest with her back legs. And screwball was launched over the edge she was standing on. And fell holding the bat and as she fell she grinned and hugged her bat accepting her fate. Only to be scooped up just before she hit the ground by a Pegasus rebel. “HEY!! we’d you save me?” She complained as he dropped her off onto the ground. The battle raged on for hours as the rebels slowly overtook the guards...... And once again the doors to the roof burst open as screwball walked up complaining “you know how long it took me to get back up here?” But this time screwball wasn’t alone she had a good 100 rebels follow her onto the roof. The girls and the rebels charged each other... Pinkie fired her party cannon into the ground closets to the edge knocking some of them off and proceeded to use her rock smashing hooves to fight about 5 mares that surrounded her. Meanwhile twilight was blasting away being carful to not aim near screwball knowing her bat would sap up the magic. Applejack was bucking away keeping the mob away from the others. And fluttershy’s was trying fight but couldn’t get up the nerve to actually fight While rarity was distracting the enemy by using her unicorn magic to pull tiles and pieces of rock of the structure of the roof and lifting them over them over the mob dropping the rocks onto their heads. And dash had gone straight to the point and was dueling screwball in epic hoof to bat combat. While dash was putting her all into jabbing at and or avoiding screwball’s bat. Screwball was causally swing but trying to steer dash closer to twilight which dash of course didn’t notice. Once they were only 3 feet away from twilight. Screwball smacked her bat down at dash’s head which dash avoided as she had done a good 50 times already not seeing screwball”s other hoof coming from the left and it hit dash directly in the jaw. As dash fell down from the blow screwball launched herself over rainbow dash towards twilight. She was about swing her bat and hit twilight in the head when twilight looked up with this petrified and scared look. And as screwball saw those eyes something happened that screwball had never experienced. She felt bad for her actions. In response to this new emotion she dropped her bat to the ground and collapsed into a heap. After a second of shock from the rebels and the girls. screwball got up and says “soldiers stop.... *brief pause* and you leave before I change my mind” she announces pointing at twilight as she said to leave. Twilight and the girls gather themselves and walked over to the other side of the roof twilight carrying rarity and pinkie on her back as she spread her wings to take flight. Fluttershy carried applejack just barely and dash flew unburdened due to the injury to her wing from where screwball bit. As they were gliding away starlight and melody appeared in front of them starlights magic keeping them afloat in the air. Starlight spoke saying “hello girls what do you say we finish this where it all began?” And with that sentiment they were all teleported with starlights magic landing in the mountain by our town. Screwball was struggling to watch the guards being berated and spat on as they marched to the cage’s. The problem she’d never felt this bad about anything before she felt wave after wave of regrets. “What has that stupid princess done to me?” She muttered to herself questioning all her life choices and why she hated princesses. 1 HOUR LATER : “General come out have a drink” one of screwball’s soldiers trying for the 4th time to get her to celebrate with the rest of them. She responds “maybe later” “Alright miss” the soldier said grinning and quickly rushing off to the party once again. Screwball decides to get out her tent and go for a walk. She found herself wandering past the cage’s of towards the edge of the mountains. And came upon canterlot’s wishing well. That presided just between the gates of the castle and the mountain side. She stops next to the well and stares into the well not recognizing her own reflection a cold and hard stare looking back and a matted mane of sloppy hair in a dark cloak. And screwball did something she hadn’t done since she was a child.............. She cried tear of pent up confusion, anger and self pity. Her tears hit the wishing well water as she sobbed her thoughts a jumble but the clearest thought that popped out of her mouth was : “I wish I knew who I was.” And after another 15 minutes of sobbing : She pulled herself together and carefully trots down the hill letting her hooves carry her to wherever they might lead. And no one would ever know if screwball happened to walk by a certain pink princesses cage or if it was fate or the work of some magical well deity. But either way she walked past cadence’s cage as she did cadence spoke. “Can I please see my daughter?” Cadence pleads in desperation and sorrow. “Huh” scoffs screwball in disgust. Screwball then turns to the princess of love’s cage and simply says “no.” “Are you alright?” Cadence questions in a tone of concern seeing screwballs tear soaked face. “Fine. Why would you even care?” Responds lightly wiping off her leftover tear streak’s with her left hoof. Cadence looks at her unconvinced and full of true concern “why can’t I care about you?” She responds in a tone full of nurturing care and love. “Cause you never have!!!” Then after a brief pause screwball quickly added “none of you princesses ever have.” Cadence gave a thoughtful look and asks “have we met before?” Screwball briefly looks up meeting cadence’s eyes. And cadence’s eyes bore through her with the same eyes as twilight. And those eyes quickly pulled the answer out of her “you could say that.” Cadence continues to look at her with her probing eyes piercing screwballs soul. Screwball questioned in her head how cadence could do this so effectively to her. “When did we meet?” Cadence asks her tone and gaze softening into mild friendly curiosity. “ well I uhh.....” luckily for screwball a guard patrol started heading there way before she finished. Quickly without another word screwball quickly started to dash away. When cadence spoke one last time “if you ever need to talk I’m here and I’ve got nothing better to do?” Briefly screwball turns around and looks at cadence and says “I’ll consider it?” And then trots back to her tent wondering what had just happened. Though she didn’t know it then this was the beginning of screwball’s descent into redemption and forgiveness..... TWILIGHT SPARKLE AND HER FRIENDS : There they were on the mountain next to our town standing on the spot where starlight had originally ran off into the cave’s and tunnels in the mountain. About ten feet from starlight and 15 from melody who was behind starlight. Rainbow dash, spike and twilight all stood at the ready in front of the others as applejack stood protecting fluttershy and rarity who had the same angry looks as the rest of them. “Starlight I wanna help you. So stand down now and I can help you or I’ll have to stop you!” Twilight announces in a surprisingly stern tone and stance. “No can do bitch” starlight brazenly declare’s as she shoots a blast of magic toward’s twilight. Which twilight quickly zapped into oblivion launching her own laser at starlight muttering “I’m sorry it came to this.” Starlight quickly pulled up her shield and blocked twilights laser and said “I’m not.” While starlight blocked twilights laser rainbow took flight and pinkie pulled out her party cannon. As soon as starlight pulled down her shield to shoot again dash zoomed in trying to punch starlight. And starlight quickly rolled under the punch and responded by launching a magical blast at rainbows soft underside. Dash saw this coming and swiveled around to get out of the way. Unfortunately dash wasn’t fast enough and only barely managed to flip around before the magic blast hit her in the already damaged wing sending her spiraling into the snow with a sickening crunch. Fluttershy flew over to dash quickly checking her out as applejack ran in and tried to lasso starlight. Only to have starlights magic turn her rope into a breadstick making it fall limply to the ground. What starlight failed to notice was twilight launch another magic shot at her. Starlight saw the blast and tried to dodge only to be nicked in the edge of the neck and knocking the makeup off the horn wound from her tumble with melody earlier. Pinkie dove in as starlight winced in pain and blasted her from behind with the party cannon sending starlight into a snowbank. As the girls prepared for another round of attack’s against starlight. melody started cackling manically so hard tears were coming out. “What’s her problem” pinkie exclaims in shock at the sudden outburst. As the girls looked at melody puzzled by her sudden amusement starlight stood up and blasted twilight in the side hitting her directly causing a deep hash along her flank. The girls quickly rushed over to make sure twilight was alright. And twilight looked up to glare at starlight only to see starlight frozen in place and and tears leaking out. About as close to sobbing as you could get without making a sound. It finally dawned on twilight that starlight wasn’t the problem here that other pony behind her was doing something to make starlight do all this. Silently twilight cursed herself for never thinking starlight was being forced. “Girls take out that pony behind starlight out first! She’s the problem” twilight exclaims gasping in pain. The rest of the girls seemed confused and looked up but came to a similar conclusion as twilight when they saw the tears on starlights face in comparison with the smirk on melody’s face. “Huh starlight let’s get this over with I think your friends just figured me out.” Announces melody clapping her hooves and making starlight snap to increasing her control over the mare again. Starlight teleported behind fluttershy who was tending to the unconscious rainbow dash. She blasted fluttershy from behind sending her flying into the mountain side with a deafening smack. The girls we’re realizing starlight’s magic was even more powerful then they thought. Twilight blasted a magic shot at melody. As soon as she did melody snapped her hooves together and yelled “stop” making starlight snap to attention and appear in front of the bolt of magic taking one directly to the chest. “Starlight no” twilight screamed as starlight was sent flying past melody into the edge of the mountain. “Ouch” melody exclaims the smirk never leaving her face. Starlight then got up and teleported next to melody again looking more hru then ever before. Her right leg shaking barely holding up her weight. “Starlight why are you still protecting her. We know this isn’t your fault now” twilight proclaims in a pleading tone as the tears she was holding back slipped past her defenses and out her eyes. Melody once again fell into echoing laughter. “Oh don’t you get it yet starlight is gone theirs only me” melody cackled at her own deception. Starlights body then went back to work activating her magic and using her telekinesis to pick up pinkie and rarity floating them in the air and slamming them into each other then into fluttershy as she was waking up and knocking all 3 into the snow again. Applejack, twilight and spike were the only ones left conscious and it was clearly a losing battle. Twilights gears were turning as she tried to figure a way out of this and applejack decided to buy twilight time to figure it out. So applejack nudged spike and gestures towards melody. And then applejack charged followed by spike who was flying right behind her. Applejack launched herself at melody. And as expected Starlight launched herself in the way as she did applejack slid under starlights legs knocking her off her feet and into the ground applejack quickly stood up and rushes at melody and who was now exposed and would of hit her but melody ducked away. What melody didn’t realize was spike was off to her right where she ducked too and he launched a fireball at melody hitting her in the back of the head and lighting her cloak on fire. As melody thrashed to get her cloak off starlight’s mind took over her body once again for about those 20 seconds that melody was pulling her cloak off. And managed to yell in a desperate vulnerable tone only few had heard from starlight “twilight please stop her it hurts” and in the snap of melody’s hoof starlight was gone again to the mindless drone. The starlight drone blasted spike into the mountain so hard he was about 3 feet into the solid rock. As applejack spun around and tried to kick starlight back into the ground melody now very pissed off came up behind applejack and smacked her in the back of the head rendering her unconscious. A small red light reflected from melody hitting twilight in the eye. At first twilight recoiled in pain but then she looked to see where the reflection came from. And their it was a red gem on a necklace that was basically a gem with a rope to tie it up in the back. And that was when twilight put it all together. A red gem, a musical name, controlling those around her and causing chaos and unrest that made everyone fight. This yellow unicorn was somehow a siren who looked like a unicorn...... As twilight came to this conclusion Starlight used her magic to pick up a rock and she launched it at twilight. Twilight barely reacted in time as she teleported directly in front of starlight. “Starlight please I know your in there.” Starlight responded by slashing twilight in the chest with a magic laser. Twilight screamed in pain but stayed standing up “starlight I’ll fight for you I won’t let her keep you buried” as she exclaimed. Starlight hit twilight with a blast knocking her back again. “I won’t fight you. I won’t give her what she wants.” Twilight tells starlight barely managing to stand. There was a pause as starlight stopped mid attack..... “Hurt her like she hurt you she thought you were evil again just like that” melody responds clapping her hooves at the just like that part of her speech. And just like that starlight slashed twilight once again. “Starlight please don’t.” Starlight charged up her horn for one last attack to end it all..... “Starlight I love you. your my closest friend and I’ll forgive you Even if you do it.” Twilight declared in a last ditch effort to save her friend. Starlight slammed down her attack. But at the last second the magic around her horn dissipated and instead of killing twilight she collapsed hugging twilight and sobbing finally having broken free of the control melody had put on her. Twilight had expected to die but instead she felt pressure and fluid on her shoulders as starlight hugged her sobbing into her shoulder twilight pulled her up and looked her into the eyes. “Starlight i missed you” twilight spoke as she hugged starlight back. “Ughh” melody sighs in frustration. “Starlight finish it” melody says as she fluffs up her hair. “N n no” starlight stammered acting as if she was an abused person in an abusive marriage standing up for themselves for the first time. Melody looked even more annoyed by this interruption to her plan. “Oh starlight I’ll just have to go with plan B” melody concludes with a flourish of her hooves. “your the most evil creature I’ve ever met and I’ve met quite a few” twilight exclaims angrily. Twilight was more pissed then she ever had been just the thought of someone hurting her pupil like melody had done made her blood boil What melody had done to starlight thus far was nothing compared to what she was about to do.............. Twilight was hurting from all the blasts she had taken fighting the controlled starlight and starlight was obviously hurt as well and was actually showing it now that she isn’t under melody’s control. Melody on the other hoof stood there without more then a bruise or 2 and some slightly singed fur. Melody teleports behind twilight and tries to buck her in the back. Only for starlight to pull up a forcefield around herself and twilight blocking melody’s strike. Starlight quickly fire’s a shot off at melody. Melody quickly bobs under the magic only to be hit in the chest by twilights magic and be sent flying into the ground. Melody groans “oof that was a good hit” melody exclaims as her mind races knowing she can’t take both twilight the princess of magic and starlight the most damn op unicorn she’d ever met. She obviously couldn’t run either. She’d either have to take them both out with one shot or separate them. She knew she couldn’t take them both out in one shot she wasn’t very powerful in regular magic only siren magic. Unless melody had a thought the icicles at the entrance to the cave were to fall on them somehow. So if she manages to push them back she could win. So she began her barrage of attacks hoping to knock them back only for every single shot to be blocked by force fields and magical shots that deflected and blocked. After a few more blasts of magic melody began to realize that they are too powerful for someone like herself who had intermediate magical skills. And that the alicorn and unicorn were truly some of the most skilled and talented magical creatures that had ever lived or would ever live. She still thought she might be able to out think them but they were no pushovers when it came to brain power either. Melody flips around and jumps out of the way of the most recent magical blast from twilights horn and blasts back towards the alicorn. Melody’s mind race’s as she continues to bob and weave between the magical blasts. Her only thought is this is getting out of hoof and she needs to find a way to distract these magical nuisances. She teleports behind the two friends and zaps at starlight with a laser it barely misses the purple unicorn and instead hits the ground behind her. Starlight quickly shoots a blast back nicking melody’s back right knee. Making her howling in pain and anger. Twilight uses this opportunity to send a magical blast into the ground making it shake and sending melody tumbling to the ground her legs having given out due to the rumble and the cut in her leg. Twilight followed by starlight and they walk over to the fallen mare and then twilight speaks in a loud almost canterlot voice volume her tone full of anger saying: “YOU ARE THE REASON FORALL THIS PAIN AND ANGUISH. SO WHY DID YOU DO IT?” Melody looks up in a surprisingly apologetic look and say’s “that wasn’t my intention....” Twilight looks at her wondering what her goal was and opened her mouth to speak only for melody to continue speaking “....it was just a bonus” And in that instant twilight’s rage returns her eyes narrow and all her sympathy disappears and she goes to deliver the final blow only for starlight to block it with a magical barrier. “Wha— wait why save her?” Twilight says looking over at starlight angrily only for starlight to look back her tears gently falling from her eyes and say “because I don’t want you to change who you are for revenge— or for me....” starlight’s voice cracks at the or for me looking at twilight with her begging eyes. Melody saw this momentary distraction and took the opportunity to zap her magic into the mountainside causing a landslide. Twilight teleports to the side trying to magically grab her unconscious friends and pulling them out of the way as she does this starlights charges up her horn to teleport and help twilight only for melody to tackle the unicorn and wrestle her to the ground. Melody pulls out the metal horn covering she still has and sticks it on starlights horn making starlight keel over in pain her as the land slide over takes her and melody. Melody teleports away but starlight jabs up with her horn non covered in sharp metal and twists ripping off the tip of the metal as melody teleports some metal hanging out of her leg as she screams blood pouring out. Melody then transports back to the rebel camp into her tent still screaming in pain. Meanwhile starlight is buried and pushed off the cliff by the snow and rock as twilight looks on in horror unable to do anything due to the fact she was flying above barely holding up her unconscious friend’s with her magic as it is. One hour later: Twilight sat on the freshly buried snow her other friends just barely stirring from their unconscious state. Twilight starts to sob she’s looked for her friend but hadn’t found any sign of her once pupil or her body.... The girls start to wake up starting with fluttershy who rushes over and try’s to cheer up the sobbing twilight. “It’s okay it’ll be alright” she says lightly patting twilight’s mane as the rest of their friends wake up to twilight’s sobs and fluttershy’s sweet comforting words. “Starlight...... no no” starlight sobs her voice cracking at every word. No pony had ever seen twilight this broken or sad before and honestly it was an awful sight for her friends who were unsure what to do. After lots more crying twilight stopped and simply stares off into the distance without a word. Applejack grabbed the other girls and her and spike explained the truth about starlight and her return to “evil” The girls slowly approach their friend who was staring off the cliff her face still streaked With tears. To be honest after hearing the truth and knowing starlight wasn’t the villain or even at fault for this whole thing they too felt like crying but they knew it was no good and that they should mourn later after this whole mess was over. However fluttershy and pinkie pie still had small drops falling out of their eyes and rarity and unexpectedly rainbow dash were in the verge of tears as well but barely holding them in. “Darling are you okay?” Rarity asks quickly scolding herself at the stupid obvious question. “What she means is. Is their anything wah can do twi?” Applejack says jumping into the conversation. Twilight remains motionless staring off the cliff and at the mountains her head slightly twitching as her friends talked to her. Pinkie sob’s out “I was the worst possible friend ever I didn’t even doubt it was her for a moment.” Her pure despaired tears streaming down her face. “No.......” twilight says finally speaking in a small voice. All the girls look at twilight their concern overwhelming their guilt and pain. “I was. I should’ve done more for her” twilight says her voice hoarse and full of pain as she spoke through the pain of her loss. Twilight looks up at her friends her eyes a blurry bloodshot color and her look one of pure loss and anguish but quickly changed to a look of anger as she stutters out “melody” her tone angry at the mere thought of that monster and her thoughts clouded with vengeance. “We’ll catch her and when we do I’ll personally beat her down” spike exclaims through gritted teeth upset about starlight but more upset about how it was affecting twilight who was the closest he had to a family. “No” twilight firmly spoke her voice suddenly filled with determination and righteous anger. “What ever do you mean darling?” Rarity asks unsure why twilight would ever wanna let melody go without punishment or capture. Twilight looks up her gaze meeting rarity’s and says in the most clear headed and serious tone “we won’t capture her cause I’m gonna kill the bitch” To say her friends were shocked was an understatement such language and hate was nothing like twilight but still she seemed steadfast and unwavering. Meanwhile at the bottom of the mountain a small gray Pegasus mare flaps towards the bottom of the landslide. After all she was the most experienced mail mare equestria had ever seen so of course she had escaped the rebels. I mean after all she clearly supported the princesses why else would she risk her life for twilight when the storm kings army appeared. So the gray mail mare made her way up the mountain hoping to find another pony to take home with her so she wouldn’t be the only adult at her camp...... Author's Note Oh boy derpy has entered the story and now starlights dead? Melody is injured and twilight has tunnel vision and bloodlust......
