The "Dragons" Along The Crest Sea
The Only Chapter?
Load Full StoryAuthor's Note
This was a proper test. Written in almost three hours mostly off the cuff. With only editing for grammar and spelling. And you know...if a great way too write sentence.
This really taught me a lot. It was much more fun! I see from earlier writings that their is greater element of tension here.
I think the first draft was a bust. But!
I definetely think I could be a little careful. I could probably write quicker? Hmm..
I hope you had fun at this silliness! ![]()
The Only Chapter?
Twilight Sparkle would be Queen of all.
Thumbed a page.
Back and forth she went.
Eyes glimmering with unshed sadness.
The Doom that stood far beyond their borders. Great devour that he was...Spikeron The Demented.
The children knew of him now...could never bare the thought. Of what he was...
They could not...would not. But...
She alone. For some manner of history...
So strangely like her mentor. Sought both book and spell. A smile claimed her face.
"A spell book." Twilight said. Almost startled by the gruff and stonecutters voice. That lent its sound too the very air.
Laughing at such a comparison. Light from the gather werelights gave a somber mood to the crest fallen mare.
She turned staring at the lights. Their frought eyes glowing in the dark.
Wide and staring. They blinked.
It had ounce been said long before Twilight.
Before a Her brothers great teeth sought the world.
In fire and flesh.
You know what Twily. A voice spoke. The cool touch of something not meant for ears of flesh. Sounding...very much like all her friends. Her brother and sisters beyond even the hand of death. Stood still it seemed outside of time. Too speak ounce again.
Their resting that deep dark.
What he wanted...
"In Harmony honor." whisphered along with her friends long dead voice. The magic.
The magic that she held. That she needed...
Right?
Turning away from the lights that surely where not the lights of...old friends. No blue light could cut the vale.
She turned further.
Burying her face into her book.
Twilight swallowed.
A flick of drool fell on the page. Rubbing at the slick. She lookee around the small drab room. Careful even...now.
Not...too use...magic.
Before her eyes began too read the words on the page. The shard of a thought. Jagged and toothed speared mind.
If Werelights are magic...how do they not draw...him?
Still wide eyes bore no...relief having for now.
She swept her eyes over the large tome. Bound from the flesh of some creature with teeth all its own. Their...
Her eyes glimmered with that curiosity. Surviving even what would be the end of everything.
If her brother...
She instead stared at the frill on the book. Poking it with a hoove. Smiling as tinked back at her. Back too flexible something something...and...very VERY...pointy.
Stealing time from what little she had. She adjusted her horn ring. Careful as always. That through shock or accident nothing would come of it.
"Done" she said.
After which the werelight seemed too grow just a little softer.
Before her eyes could touch the first word. Taking the words too learn about the truth of dragons. That none. Not even Celestia knew. Let...alone...the dragons.
She felt unumerable arms and hooves around. Some how bending what was ounce their bodys. Too be something else.
Instead of her usual fear and horror...at such things. She...leaned in. Taking the offered warmth. Before delved into finding out about the dragons.
"Thank you"
As her eyes stared at the first word. Her mind taking her back...back...back. She swore she heard a quiet and familiar
"Thank you, Twi."
"Spi-" She began.
Far beyond the Pale of history
Known only a strange book...and a stranger mare...was...Twilight Sparkle.
Hooves hit the earth. Or would have.
She lifted her hooves. The touch of something wet and sticky. Unfortuntely...
A straight almost consistent peace feed her obsession. So Twilight Sparkle ounce ruler of Equastria and the...first pony colony into space....
Self proclaimed genius. Though she...would always deny...
Tryed and failed too cure her some two thousand year old problem in a matter of minutes.
By rolling herself onto her back. Then promptly throwing her hooves into the air. Screaming as if it was her first assasination attempt all over...again.
Sigh.
"GET OFF! GET OFF! GET OFF!" Twilight screamed.
The ball of wet sand. More sludge and dirt flew. Across the now blue sky...towards...a bird. And as Twilight Sparkle turned rolling too her hooves. She raised her head and opened her eyes.
Their was a bird. A...large...large bird. Not...a dragon.
"Oh." Twilight said.
A large bird. Did she imagine it was...THIS LARGE?
Its frame far far bigger then her still measily ten hoove. Why thank you Ce-l-eat-ia!Deciding in this moment too open its mingled-mix of reds and dark green feathers.
Before her hard won warrior instinct could buck in. The...Thing.
Opened its mouth. A tongue and...teeth. sharp and foul. A thick pink tongue...made its way into her mind before...
COOOAAAH!
The sound caused her to bolt. Blindly. Her hooves though old as they were. Stressed from work. And-
A sound. It was too late.
A thump...behind her. A woosh of air that smelled of salt water and dead fish. Pain bright and loud. Dug into her.
Wounds that bleed the color of pale silver. Fled from the warm mare.
The rush of air with barbed menace fell away. Parting from view. Up it seemed far...far...away. leaving a desperate mare.
Pressed and damned too use magic. Damned if she does.
Would her...magic steal the mind of her brother? What...
With silver blood claiming the yellow that turned too off purple. She turned. Minding what...
A jab of pain. She...had been running. So...wetting her suddenly dryed lips. Flying.
She turned her gaze upwards. Where all manner of creatures lay. Large and made of hardy skin wirh some holding feathers. Others making hands instead of feathers.
Others...
With teeth so large...that. she swallowed.
Turning her attention too her slick back.
What she was sure was more then a flesh wound.
Tears rained from her eyes. Mingling with her silver blood. The blood of Alicorns. Sighing.
She grabbed for the latch.
Sighing. She went again. Her hoove finding purchase in that strip of rune covered leather.
The slickiness of her own blood stood in her way.
Her eyes all the while aching too see...
What surely would be her doom.
Sounds what could have been the death throes of some looming beast beyond her knowledge.
As the whole of this was...
A gamble. A bet.
Scant few hooves steps away from her still warm...
The breathing was nearer now
She swallowed...one...last time.
Her hoove found the latch...and pulled.
