Let me tell you the story about Grey Hoof. Our tale begins in the magical land of Equestria. In a small village not far from Manehatten two ponies lived. Their names was Snowflake and Nightingale. They were madly in love. The only problem being that Snowflake was a pegasus and Nightingale was a unicorn. Both families had clean blood and not a single black sheep on the family tree. But I am getting ahead of myself. Snowflake as pegasus she could manipulate was the clouds but it was first at winter she really started to shine and there fore her cutie-mark were a snowflake, her coat itself had such a bright white color that it seemed glow in the dark. Nightingale as a unicorn had well developed magical powers, his specialty were to levitate multiple objects and with extreme precision, he worked at a repair shop where his abilities could really shine, his cutie-mark was a screwdriver, his coat had such a dark color it almost drained the light from his surroundings but his kind spirit made op for it.

Their life were like a fairy tale. They meet and fell in love on the spot. Their parents were against it but they did not care. They got married and lived happily.

I am rushing through this to get to the actual story. You see they had three children. It was

Thundercloud, Rose Peddle and of cause Grey Hoof. Thundercloud were a pegasus from her mother but had her fathers dark coat color. While Rose Peddle had her mothers bright colored coat and her fathers magical abilities and horn. Grey Hoof were special already from birth. His coat were a mixture of both his fathers and mothers color which gave him a plane grey coat. You might think now that he got all abilities from his parents and he was some kind of alicorn. Well, he were not that lucky. All pegasus have the ability to walk on clouds and so had he but he did not have wings on his own, rendering the ability almost useless. But then he had more from his fathers side then? Wrong again. In his case to have a unicorns horn and to have magic were two separate things. He had the magical abilities but no way to use it.

Now we are ready for the actual story to start. Okay to be fair it have already started. But it is now things starts to change. It all started an evening at their home. Grey Hoof and his sisters were not very old. They just got their cutie-mark. While on that subject I could not find out his sisters special talent. The house they lived in were rather new and very stable. But this evening a minor earthquake hit the land. It was barely noticeable but the did not take it well. Somehow the building gave after. It was never discovered if it was bad craftsmanship or something else. The entire house started too fall apart. Nightingale tried to catch the ceiling as it came crashing down. Only a little bobble was left and in the middle sat Grey Hoof. His sisters were crushed under the debris. Snowflake and Nightingale were stuck just out side the “bobble”. With his last breath he said to Grey Hoof “please live on. Cry the tears you must but keep on living.” with those word he sent a chair through a window before levitating Grey Hoof out. As Grey Hoof landed safely on the grass outside Nightingales magic lost strength and the house collapsed completely. After hours of search they find the rest of the family dead.

Now the first problems in Grey Hoof's life started now. Since he had to be taken care off. The problem was neither his father's nor his mother's side of the family liked him, they both saw him as an abomination. They agreed to switch one month at each house at the time and when he was old enough to take care of himself he was thrown out. At his father's Parents house he lived in the basement on a pile of old cloth because they did not want to waste money on a bed and he was just pointed in the direction of his school. At his mother's parents house his bed was a cloud they have pulled in. too here he was just placed down on the ground and sometimes not even that. None of them shoved up for anything in the school. It did not help that the others foals knew about his family and mocked him. This was the cause of his growing hatred to earth-ponies. Alone the way he was treated by his grandparents created hatred against unicorns and pegasus.

Time went by and he got to the age where he could take care of himself. That very day he got kicked out of the house. I know this is a big jump in time but anything special did not happen until now and we are getting close to the important part. He got a job at a hotel the only payment he got was a bed to sleep in and food on his plate. I learned quickly to hide his hatred under a warm and welcoming smile. It was in this time things started to change. Think it was his hatred to pony-kind in general that reacted with his unused magic but it have never been proven and it will never be proven. It started out small. There were rarely unicorns at the hotel but those who stopped by had it difficult using magic when Grey Hoof was around. It grew stronger and stronger until one day it was discovered that he was the cause of this. The village did not take it well and chased him into the Everfree forest. To be fair they thought he was cursed and that is why I did not say the village name. Poor Grey Hoof now had to adjust to the life as an outcast. He found an old house in a clearing in the forest and decided to make it his home. Through luck and the fact that all magical creatures that lived the Everfreeforest stayed clear of his house, he lived and still lives in peace out there.

You might wonder how I know all this. I was wandering around the Everfreeforest a few month ago and bumped into him. He invited me in for tee and told me the Entire story. He had been thinking a lot alone in the forest and he have come to the conclusion that he have no reason to hate pony-kind. He do not feel very safe around too many ponies still. I guess time heals almost all wounds not mental ones will haunt you forever. And just to be clear he do not want any visitors at all. He was very clear about that.
