The Best Night Ever
At the night of the Grand Galloping Gala, Rarity had just finished making the gala dresses for all of her friends, (and a suit for Spike as well). Whilst she was cleaning up her boutique for the mess she had made by making the dresses, her friends were in the other room freshening up with spa treatments and hooficures.
Twilight Sparkle and Pinkie Pie were under the mane dryers to do their manes. Applejack was sitting on a purple and fancy cushion at a small table with Fluttershy to do her hooves. Spike was laying down on a chair with facial cream all over his cute and scaly face, along with cucumbers on top of his reptilian green eyes.
Meanwhile, Rainbow Dash was being stubborn to do spa treatments in front of her friends. Applejack and Rarity knew she liked doing spa treatments but kept it as a secret, this was when they finished doing Applejack's chores and finally had time to go to the spa together and they saw a familiar rainbow maned cyan pegasus there that they would not think would find doing spa treatments.
Rarity entered into the spa room and saw all of her friends in their treatments, except for Rainbow Dash.
''Darling,'' she said, ''don't tell me that you are still hiding the fact that you like these spa treatments from us.''
Rainbow Dash rolled her eyes. ''It's not called hiding, it's called not-wanting-to-contribute-in-these-treatments.''
''Come on, Dashie,'' said Twilight. ''We already know that you like them and these are wonderful, just have a try just this once for the Grand Galloping Gala.''
Pinkie Pie splashed the water as she reached the surface of the bubble bath.
''Yeah, Dashie. For the Gala, for your friends and maybe for your special somepony.'' Pinkie Pie smirked and fluttered her eyelashes at the rainbow maned cyan pegasus.
Rainbow Dash fluttered her wings to back away with a red strain on her face. ''What do you mean?''
Applejack spat on Fluttershy's hoof. The yellow pegasus had disgust on her face.
''Dash,'' the southern pony said, ''we all know that you have a chemistry going on between you and Soarin.'' The rainbow maned cyan pegasus was blushing even harder and started to look like a tomato. Twilight saw this and examined the blush on her cheeks. She smirked at her.
Rarity went through purple curtains to change into her gala dress inside. Once she finished, she moved the curtains to the other side so her friends could see her beautiful and bedazzling dress. They all gasped in shock.
Twilight Sparkle had made an apple into a carriage again just like the first ever gala they had, but she extended up a bit by putting an extra carriage behind for Discord, Shining Armour, Sunburst and Cheese Sandwich. The six mares, the three candy corn fillies, Starlight Glimmer, Trixie, Cadence and Flurry Heart were inside the other carriage. Whereas, the baby dragon was sitting on top of a small bench, in front of the carriage, along with ropes to lead the two stallions in front of him.
When they reached at Canterlot, Spike opened up the door for the mares and he was in awe.
''You all look,'' he continued as he bounced on top of his scaly tail, ''amazing.''
Rarity was wearing a beautiful pink dress with sparkling patterns, along with a tiara on her head. Her mane was tied up in a bun. Twilight Sparkle was wearing a dark purple dress with stars all around and a giant pink star on a blue ribbon on her chest. Her mane was also in a bun, along with a star in her mane. Applejack was wearing a dark blue hat with orange ribbon to match her dress and boots. Her mane was in a plat and her fringe was curled. Fluttershy was wearing a light blue dress to match her eyes and it was sparkling like the stars in the sky. Her mane was curled and placed in a ponytail with a blue butterfly clip. Pinkie Pie was wearing a yellow dress with a white streamer all around at the edge of her dress. There was a candy bow on her chest and lolly pops in her mane that was placed in a messy and poofy bun. Rainbow Dash was wearing a magenta dress with white sparkles and her mane was in a bun with small messy curls on the side.
Princess Cadence was wearing a light purple dress with a yellow necklace to match her yellow crown. Her daughter, Flurry Heart, was now nearly the height of the cutie mark crusaders. She was wearing a yellow dress with a necklace that had a purple gem on top. For the cutiemark crusaders, Apple Bloom was wearing a sparkling and bedazzling green bow. Her dress was also sparkling green with a pint of red. Sweetie Belle was wearing a blue dress with yellow decorated around. Scootaloo was wearing a purple dress. Starlight Glimmer was wearing a simple purple dress that was matching her eyes and there was diamonds on top of it, shining. Trixie was wearing a sparkling purple dress with green gems decorated in, along with a green gem on her ear and her mane styled in a mermaid braid.
For the stallions, Discord was just wearing an ironed black suit to be professional in front of his dearest true love. Shining Armour was wearing a red suit with a crest that belonged to his favourite uncle and wore it in his wedding. Cheese Sandwich was just wearing a plain black suit with a green bow tie between his collars and tucked into his blazer. And last but not least, Sunburst was wearing a black silky suit with a blue bow tie to match his eyes.
''Well,'' said Applejack. ''I'll be darn.''
''Isn't this exciting? Are you excited cause I'm excited? I have never been so excited. Well, except for the time I went...'' Pinkie Pie gasped. ''But I mean really? Who can top that?''
They all looked fantastic, thanks to Rarity. They were all thrilled than ever to enter into the Grand Galloping Gala. As they did, the party didn't look boring this year. Princesses Celestia and Luna really wanted this party to be the Best Night Ever as this years Grand Galloping Gala was held on Hearth's Warming Eve. There was streamers and balloons everywhere in the ballroom. Pinkie Pie gasped in excitement and bounced all throughout the entire ballroom and stopped beside the DJ and whispered in her ear to play the 'Hokey Pokey' music so she could sing and enlighten up the party even more.
''This,'' Apple Bloom said.
''Is,'' Sweetie Belle added.
''Awesome!'' Scootaloo completed as she bounced up in the air.
Twilight was so caught up with the amazing decorations that she didn't even notice she bumped into an orange pegasus. She blushed in embarrassment and realised that it's the same guard she keeps bumping in to. She turned her head around to see Rainbow Dash and Rarity laughing and looking up as if there was something on top of her. Twilight and Flash looked up to see a mistletoe above them. They both blushed in embarrassment until the cutiemark crusaders were shouting for them to kiss. Pinkie Pie joined in.
''You too?'' Applejack raised her eyebrow at her.
Twilight was looking at Flash with a blush when all of a sudden, the pegasus dragged her into a long and lingering kiss. They both closed their eyes to enjoy the moment. This made Twilight realise the time where she and Flash Sentry in the other world were about to kiss after they have defeated the sirens, but were hold up by Trixie, still they managed to hook up eventually! Her friends widened their eyes in shock. They slowly pulled away from each other and blushed with a slight smile on their faces.
Whereas, Spike ran towards the beautiful white unicorn mare to ask her for a dance but he was suddenly caught off when Rarity saw Fancy Pants and trotted off towards him to mingle with him instead. Spike felt a little heartbroken and sad. He then confidently toughened himself and thought to himself that there are always other times to dance with his true love.
Applejack felt sympathetic towards this poor lonely baby dragon. First, his parents left him and now, his true love has left him. Pinkie Pie rose up from the ground in front of the southern earth pony and smirked.
''I see where this has led to,'' she said in a singsong tone. ''You like Spike! The AppleSpike ship has finally sailed!''
Applejack raised her eyebrow at her and blocked her mouth. She didn't have a crush on him, she only just felt sympathy for her friend.
''Hush,'' she let her hoof out of the pink pony's mouth for her to exhale. ''I don't have a crush on him. Where in Equestria did you get that idea from?''
Pinkie Pie smirked. ''Don't lie to me, Applejack. We all know you like him more than a friend.''
''And that is where you are wrong,'' Applejack said as she trotted over towards the deserts table.

Meanwhile, Discord was searching the entire ballroom to see a yellow pegasus. She was laughing with a stallion that was a blue pegasus with soft pink mane. This made Discord furious but calmed himself down and thought to himself that maybe they are just friends just like her and Tree Hugger. After all, she is not that type of pony to...you know. Right? He took a deep breath in relief but then he saw the yellow pegasus placing her hoof on the blue pegasus' chest. This had definitely got him thinking that they are a thing which made him furious. His heart had shattered into a million pieces. His angry facial expression then turned into a frown and trotted off outside to the Canterlot gardens.
On the other hoof, Cheese Sandwich and Pinkie Pie hopped onto the DJ's position and played romantic music. They both asked ponies if they would like to sing onstage. Apple Bloom and Scootaloo cheered on Sweetie Belle to sing as she is a good singer. She was nervous because what if she messes up, but her two good friends encouraged her that her beautiful voice can never mess up and they will also come onstage with her. This made Sweetie Belle confident and get up onstage.

During the song and dance, Soarin walked into the ballroom only to meet a rainbow maned cyan pegasus, but that pegasus was laughing on the floor with Flash Sentry, Twilight and Spike at a table.
''You are a hoot.'' Rainbow Dash was laughing hysterically and placing her hoof all around Flash's shoulder.
Unfortunately, Soarin saw this and got the wrong idea out of it. It was then that he realised his chance of him asking Rainbow Dash for a dance and perhaps to make her be his marefriend was never going to happen. He sat on top of a step on the staircase beside the stage. He placed his hooves on his face in miser. Until, a yellow pegasus with a flamed mane walked up towards him with two punch glasses.
''Hey, Soarin!'' she exclaimed. ''What are you doing here sitting all alone? Aren't you supposed to ask Rainbow Crash for a dance?''
The baby blue pegasus slowly lifted his head up, only to see a yellow pegasus standing over him.
''I missed my chance,'' he replied.
''Did she...are you...'' she mumbled.
The stallion nodded his head gently.
''Well,'' she said, ''you don't need her and besides, it looks like you could need a drink to fuel up.'' She handed over a glass to him that she was holding. The stallion took it from her wing without hesitant and they both did cheers with their cups and took a sip.
Rainbow Dash stopped laughing with her friends and saw this. She felt a little jealous but quickly shook her head out of it. She trotted off outside the ballroom and get some fresh air in the Canterlot gardens.
A draconequus was sitting behind a tree and surrounded by bushes. He was drinking chocolate milk to get away with the image he just saw. A few moments later, a rainbow head was sticking out of a bush. Discord could have already guessed it was Rainbow Dash.
''I know it's you,'' he said, ''Rainbow Dash.''
Rainbow Dash lifted her head further up to the surface of the bush and rolled her eyes.
''I wasn't playing hide and seek from you,'' she said, ''I am just...looking for somepony.''
He raised his thick white eyebrows. ''Looking for who?''
Rainbow Dash tried to change the topic. ''The question is what are YOU doing here?''
He sighed and snapped his claw to make the chocolate milk, he had been drinking, disappear. Rainbow Dash had a confused look on her face and had no idea to either feel sympathy for this draconequus or not. She had never seen him sad before, except for the time when he betrayed them and made Fluttershy the most saddest. Wait a minute...Fluttershy!
''It's Fluttershy, isn't it?'' she guessed.
The draconequus slowly nodded his head. Rainbow Dash sat next to him.
''Tell me what happened between you two.''
His head shot up. ''I saw Fluttershy putting a hoof on a stallion's chest!''
This made the rainbow maned cyan pegasus widen her eyes.
''What?'' she exclaimed. ''Fluttershy would never do something like that...I mean, she is not exactly the one to be flirty, except for...'' The draconequus raised his thick white eyebrows at her. Rainbow Dash shrunk down to the ground.
He sighed. ''That blue pegasus stallion...His candyfloss mane...There should be no reason why Fluttershy should pick a normal-looking pony over a weird-looking creature who took over Equestria three times and hurt her so many times.''
''Blue pegasus stallion with pink candyfloss mane, huh?'' Rainbow Dash thought to herself. ''Wait a minute, are you talking about Zephyr Breeze? Her BROTHER?''
The draconequus widened his eyes in shock and relief.
''Fluttershy has a brother?'' he exclaimed. ''Wow. I feel so foolish right now.''
''As always,'' she playfully nudged him in the disembodied arms. ''Although, he is really annoying and totally obsessed with me. I mean I am awesome but him? Gross!''
He chuckled hysterically. ''By the way, why are you even here in the first place?''
During their talk, there was a tall dark blue alicorn in the bushes and spying on them. She heard all of their love gossip and thought of an idea. She ignited her horn with a spark and made herself disappear out of the bushes to go inside back into the throne room.
Rainbow Dash sighed. ''I saw Soarin and Spitfire drinking with each other.''
He raised his eyebrows. ''And?''
''Not that because I have a crush on him.'' He chuckled nervously, until Discord saw the blush coming through her face and smirked at her. She cleared her throat. ''Anyways, I wouldn't have imagined him being with the captain of the wonderbolts. The one who always shouts at everyponies' faces.''
''Maybe it isn't what it looks like,'' he said. ''Maybe they are just friends?''
''I guess you are right,'' she responded. ''But I can't be sure until I find out.''
''And why do you care?'' He smirked. ''Do you like him?''
''What?'' She jumped back, ''NO!''
He hysterically laughed whilst transforming to the form of a rattle snake.
''Right.'' He hissed at her.
Rainbow Dash rolled her eyes and trotted inside the ballroom once again, along with the draconequus transforming back to his true form and following her inside.
''Pssst,'' Princess Luna whispers to Princess Celestia. ''Tia?''
''What?'' she whispered back.
''I have the perfect solution for our my little ponies to hook up with their very special soulmates.''
Her sister rolled her eyes. ''And what exactly is this 'solution'?'' she asked.
''Wait and see, Tia.''
Her sister rolled her eyes again.

Princess Luna trots towards the white unicorn and whispers in her ear. Rarity's ears perked up as she mentioned Fluttershy and Discord under the mistletoe. She smirked deviously as the princess walked away. She told Fluttershy to come with her and because of how naïve she is - it was easy for Rarity to drag her along.
They were inches away from the mistletoe as Rarity didn't want to make the mistake of kissing her instead of Discord because number one: they are best friends, number two: they are both straight, and number three: she belongs to Discord and Rarity belongs to Fancy Pants. She thought of him dreamily but shook out of her trance as Fluttershy looked at her confusingly.
''Um, Rarity?'' she asked, ''why did you bring me here?''
''Fluttershy, darling, is it okay if you back away five feet?'' she ordered nicely.
''Um, sure?'' she did the gesture as her friend told her to.
Rarity tried to measure the distance. ''Ten feet away?''
She backed away ten feet until Rarity yelled ''stop!'' She mumbled to herself and chuckled deviously. Oh, this is perfect.

After Princess Luna has trotted away from Rarity, she then trotted towards a southern earth pony. She whispered in the cowgirls ears and they perked up as she mentioned Fluttershy and Discord under a mistletoe. A devious smirk formed on her look as she walked away confidently. The cowgirl saw the draconequus coming into the ballroom with a rainbow maned cyan pegasus. She trotted towards them.
''Hey, y'all!'' she exclaimed. ''May I borrow Discord for a minute?''
Rainbow Dash and Discord both glanced at each other with a hint of confusion in their eyebrows.
''Sure,'' the rainbow mare said.
Applejack saw that Fluttershy was already at the mistletoe and judging by her face, she looked like she had no clue why she was in the middle of the ballroom.
The cowgirl quickly pushed the draconequus to the mistletoe but ran away so she doesn't end up getting close to it and kiss them. Discord then steps forward under the mistletoe as he saw Fluttershy. Of course, he didn't know he was under it. He was confused why Applejack had brought him here.
''Hey,'' the yellow pegasus uttered.
''Hey,'' he said.
The southern earth pony trotted towards the white unicorn mare to watch this wonderful scene. They both do a hoof-bump.
Princess Luna was looking from afar with her sister, Princess Celestia.
''Um, shouldn't somepony be telling them there is a mistletoe above them and just kiss already?'' said Applejack.
Rainbow Dash saw and heard this. She smirked and yelled at the two lovebirds.
''HEY, SLACKERS!'' she yelled. ''There is a mistletoe above you.''
The draconequus and the yellow pegasus both looked up simultaneously to see a mistletoe above them. They both glanced at each other with a blush. The cutiemark crusaders jumped off the stage and yelled for them to kiss. Their sisters joined in too.
Fluttershy was blushing hard until Discord lifted her up and pulled her into a long, lingering and passionate kiss. They both closed their eyes to enjoy the wonderful moment. Discord was surprised he was actually doing this. Fluttershy was surprised at his act of bravery for doing this. Discord thought her lips tasted like cotton candy. However, Fluttershy thought his lips tasted like chocolate milk, after all he was drinking some a few minutes ago.
A long eternity later, they both pulled away slowly and blushed. Pinkie Pie and Cheese Sandwich both jumped inside the crowd and cheered up in the air. Everypony looked at them with smirks.
The two ponies looked at each other in confusion.
''Kiss,'' Rainbow Dash simply said with a smirk.
Cheese Sandwich pulled the pink pony into a passionate kiss. They both closed their eyes to enjoy the moment and not look like fools if they did have their eyes open while kissing. Pinkie Pie thought his lips tasted like cheese. However, Cheese Sandwich thought her lips tasted like cupcakes, after all she had been eating cupcakes a few minutes ago. A moment later, they both slowly pulled away. Pinkie Pie blushed but it was hard to see as she was pink.
After everypony has gotten back to their businesses and started dancing again, even the ones who just started being a thing were dancing, Soarin trotted over towards the rainbow maned pegasus and was distracted by her beauty that he couldn't utter a word out of his mouth towards her. He had never seen her in a beautiful dress before, well...he has multiple times in the Grand Galloping Gala, Canterlot Wedding, Princess Twilight Sparkle's coronation, but just get in with the romance.
He shook his head out of his trance as Rainbow Dash waved her wing to his face. He blushed.
''Oh,'' he said. ''Hey, Crash.''
''Hey, Clipper.''
There was a long silence between them until Rainbow Dash was confident and broke it.
''What have you been doing?'' she muttered under her breath, ''ʸᵒᵘ ᵏⁿᵒʷ, ᵒᵗʰᵉʳ ᵗʰᵃⁿ ᵈʳᶦⁿᵏᶦⁿᵍ ʷᶦᵗʰ ˢᵖᶦᵗᶠᶦʳᵉ.''
''I was just drinking the punch,'' he said. ''Have you tasted it yet? It tastes divine.''
''ʸᵒᵘ ᵈᵒⁿ'ᵗ ˢᵃʸ,'' she uttered through her teeth. ''Uh, no and since when do you talk like Rarity? Divine.''
He chuckled. ''Well, do you want to go try it out with me? I mean not the way you think I meant...uh...'' He fidgeted with words nervously.
Rainbow Dash was beginning to think that he doesn't like Spitfire and that they are just friends. What if he doesn't like her? She thought to herself. She stuck her blue hoof in his mouth to stop mumbling.
''Sure,'' she said as she got her hoof out of his mouth.
He widened his eyes in shock but then smiled. Before they went towards the punch bowl table, Rainbow Dash quickly gave a small peck on his lips. He was kind of asking for it.
However, Pinkie Pie popped out of no where and held Flurry Heart in her hooves as if she was still a baby but she was almost the same size as the cutiemark crusaders as previously mentioned.
''Isn't this exciting? Are you excited cause I'm excited? I have never been so excited. Well, except for the time I went...'' Pinkie Pie gasped. ''But I mean really? Who can top that?''
Discord and Fluttershy was at a table as they got their food from the food table. Fluttershy was drinking chocolate milk, whereas Discord was having a packet of crisps but instead of crisps being inside, there was candy canes. Pinkie Pie gasped as she saw this and bounced over to Discord for the yummy and delicious candy canes.
''Can I have some?'' the pink pony asked with a smile.
The draconequus conjured up a packet of candy canes and handed it over to the energetic earth pony. She snatched it out of his disembodied hands and dived right into the candy. Fluttershy looked at her coltfriend with eyes the draconequus did not want to see from her and also conjured up a packet of candy canes for her. Fluttershy smiled and took the packet off his disembodied hands and put a candy cane in her mouth. It tasted minty. It was fresh.
On the other side of the ballroom, Twilight trotted on over towards the two princesses. She caught them snickering at the couples and giving each other hoof bumps.
''Very funny,'' she uttered, rolling out her eyes. ''Let me guess, you hooked us all up. Didn't you?''
''Only because it was necessary,'' Princess Luna explained, ''and it worked. Didn't it?''
''I suppose it did.''
''Of course it did,'' Princess Celestia wrapped her wing around the violet alicorn and pushed her forth. ''Now go on. You don't want your night and shining armour to be waiting for you.''
Twilight groaned in annoyance and trotted on over to the orange pegasus colt with silky and styled blue mane. Whereas, the two sisters kept on snickering. But thanks to them, they all managed to be happy with their very special some ponies. And who knows? They might end up starting a family like Daughter of Discord!
Haha, just kidding...unless?
But we could all say this had turned out to be...THE BEST NIGHT EVER!
