“Oh my gosh!” He threw his hooves up above his head on the bed. “I’ve ... I’ve never...” Laughing a little, he shook his head, still a little in disbelief over what had happened. “Just wow. Best birthday ever!”
She kissed him on the cheek. “Happy birthday, Honey.”
He took a moment to kiss her back, but he still had a lot of questions. “But seriously ... how? How did you get them to agree to this? How do you even start a conversation like that?” His eyes went wide with the realization. “Oh Goddess... What am I going to say to them next time I see them? It’s going to be so awkward!”
Cadance grinned. “Oh, I wouldn’t mention too much about it if I were you.”
“Huh?” He looked at her, his eyes narrowing.
“Even the Princess of Love has her limits. In order to get your mother and your sister here for you, I had to get ... creative.”
Shining raised one eyebrow. “Creative? Wait... Who did I just have sex with?”
She smiled. “I just called in some favors with a couple of old friends. Well, with one old friend, actually ... who had friends of his own who could help. You remember Thorax, right?”
Their eyes! Green eyes! His jaw dropped. “What? Did I...?” The room felt like it was spinning around him. “Which one of them was Thorax?”
“Relax, relax.” Cadance patted him comfortingly on the chest. “Neither of them. I know that’s not something you’d be comfortable with ... yet.”
“Then...?”
“Ocellus was Twilight Sparkle, and her friend Arista was Twilight Velvet. Thorax introduced me to them and very helpfully didn’t ask many questions about why exactly the Princess of Love might need help from a couple female changelings.”
“Wow, so it wasn’t really them...” Shining was a little disappointed, yes ... but also very relieved. “And... And changelings can’t get pregnant from ponies! It only gives them love energy!”
She snuggled up next to him. “You’re not mad, are you?”
“Mad? Of course not!” He turned, wrapping his hooves around her and squeezing her close. “You are the best wife ever! I... I love you so much, Cadance! You’re just ... just ... wow!”
She giggled a little, especially as he nuzzled the crook of her neck. But she wasn’t quite done. “That’s good to hear. Because, you know, my birthday is coming in just a couple months ... and I have some ideas.”
