what does it take to get a cutie mark?!

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! As the alarm clock goes off signaling 8:30 you hit snooze instantly because you were so excited you couldn’t sleep and were counting the minutes until it went off. After heading to the bathroom to use the toilet and brush your teeth, you head down stairs to get breakfast. As soon as you touch the bottom of the stairs you are bombarded by questions from your mom who is trying to change your mind about going on the train to ponyville and standing in your way to the kitchen and will not budge.

“Honey you look like you didn’t sleep at all” says your mother whose mane looks like it’s going to fall apart at any moment.

“Mom I am fine. I was really excited last night, that’s all” you say as you push her out of the way and trot towards the kitchen. As you walk in you stand there wide eyed as you look at the pile of food that’s siting on the table in front of you. You walk around the table to look at the food when you see your father putting the finishing touches on the table so that it looks like a restaurant. Then you realize why your mother was trying to keep you out of the kitchen.

“Surprise!” says your mother half-heartedly.

You say nothing because your mouth is watering and your jaw is wide open in awe. After shaking your head to come back to your senses you say “Thanks Dad! This looks awesome and delicious!”

“Please don’t wait for me, dig in.” your dad announces while he heads to the sink to wash his hoofs.

At that you pounce on the food eating like you haven’t eaten in years. The food was so good you couldn’t stop but slowed down as you were getting full; your mother took this as a cue to tell you about your trip.

“Honey you will take the train to ponyville then head straight for the Carousel Boutique where you will talk to a mare named rarity. She will give you a job and hopefully you will get your cutie mark there.” As she says the last part you stop eating and put the food that’s in your hoof down. What she say’s is true you don’t have your cutie mark and you are almost a full grown stallion.

“Suddenly I have lost my appetite.” you say as you wipe your face and head up to your room to get your bags.

“Honey I am only doing what’s best for you. You’re stronger that any of your friends so you wouldn’t get your cutie mark here in canterlot. So it makes sense to send you somewhere like ponyville where you can use your strength and maybe get your cutie mark.” what your mom says to you makes sense but, it hurts whenever anypony mentions your blank flank. It doesn’t help that your sister was the first one in her class to get a cutie mark and is now traveling Equestria. That’s another reason I am leaving canterlot, everypony here knows about my sister and I can hear them talking behind my back so I am going to start fresh in ponyville.

“That’s everything?” your father questions as you walk down the steps with your one bag of luggage.

“Well dad I am not taking my whole room to ponyville. Plus, I can just have you send me things I need if I DO get my cutie mark there and if not I can just pack up and come back.” As you shout you emphasized the do because you weren’t sure of this idea and it seemed to loosen up your parents because they now know that you have a plan if this idea goes haywire.

“Regal we are just jumpy because we are letting go of our last filly don’t get stressed over our protective behavior.” says your dad.

You breathe deeply to calm down and realize your father is right “okay sorry I shouted.”

“Regal, promise me something…” says your mom.

“Sure, what is it.” you say.

“I want you to promise that you will not change character and stay our little filly” your mom say’s with watery eyes.

You decide to not argue but joke about it, so you say this while rising your right hoof “I, Regal Charmer, will not change character.”

“Good, now run so you don’t miss your train” your mother say’s while wiping the tears off her face.

With that you pick up your luggage and dart to the train station as you round the corner you look back your house and see your parents waving goodbye to you and that puts a smile on your face as you head to the train station.

As you arrive at the train station the whistle for the train to depart sounds so you quickly jump aboard and as soon as you sit down the train lurches forward and you sigh with relief.

As the train eases into the station at ponyville, you look out the window and spot the mare they call Rarity. Rarity was easy to spot because after many stories of her have prepared me for her fashion style, which today was a giant purple hat.

You exited the train and went over to meet her. You don’t know what she was expecting but when she saw you and asked why you approached her and you told her who you were the excitement in her eyes left and were replaced with disappointment.

“I am sorry if I am not what you hoped to see put I was told you had a job for me?” you say in the most sincere way possible.

She perked up at this “yes, I need someone that will help me with my new fashion line ideas that will appear in canterlot.”

At first you were shocked because you didn’t know a thing about fashion, but then again you knew what colors went together and what everyone was wearing in canterlot, so you must look like master of canterlot fashion to this pony.

“Yeah I could help you but not much.”

“Oh that’s okay” Rarity say’s “I just need to know what the fashion line is hot right now but, other than that maybe you could run errands for me.”

That sounded simple enough “sounds good, led the way.”

Then Rarity turned and head to your new home/work place going at a pretty fast pace and you had to run to catch up with her.
