Chapters A chilly, quiet night fell upon Sweet Apple Acres. The Apple family had a successful harvesting day, and everypony turned in for the night. Everypony but Applejack. She had an excuse at the ready when Big Mac noticed that she still remained at the barn.
"Not tired yet?" He'd ask. Applejack would shrug
"Gotta make sure the barn is all good before I get some shut eye" she'd reply. He'd squint at her, before yawning and stretching his arms and legs then slink off toward the main house.
Applejack was sweeping the barn floor in front of the large bales of hay when she heard 3 gentle knocks against the door. She bit the inside of her cheek so she wouldn't smile. She knew who it was, and her heart skipped a beat knowing that they'd be waiting on the other side of the door. She flexed her fingers to calm herself down a bit as she walked to the barn door. She opened the door to see a unicorn with a gorgeous white coat, wearing a pink silk robe, her purple hair wrapped in a slightly messy bun, her beautiful blue eyes nervously looking from left to right. Applejack let a small smile escape.
"Howdy, Rarity, " she said in a low voice. The unicorn gave a small yet warm smile back.
“Terribly sorry for coming so late, dearest Applejack,” she said apologetically, looking into the farmer’s comforting, green eyes, “He took a lot longer than expected to fall asleep.” Applejack took a couple steps back while opening the barn door wider, allowing Rarity inside.
“Ya ain’t slippin’ him sleepin’ pills, are ya?” She joked. Rarity slapped her arm in response, her brows furrowed contrasting with humor in her eyes.
“Applejack, how could you ever even assume that of me?” Rarity replied, placing her hand on her chest looking away from the farmer dramatically. Applejack let out a small chuckle as she walked behind the large bales, bringing out a bottle and two wine glasses in one hand and a plate filled with cheeses and crackers. She heard a soft “oh” come from Rarity, causing her to blush a light pink.
“I figure I’d make yer visit a tad more comfortable, heh,” Applejack replied sheepishly, placing the refreshments on a conveniently positioned bale of hay. She sat on one end and beckoned for the fashionista to sit on the other side. “Sorry ‘bout not grabbin’ a cushion for ya, Big Mac’s already askin’ enough questions t’ make me sweat a little” She said as Rarity sat down.
“Oh darling, it’s quite alright. I wasn’t expecting you to go this far as it is!” Rarity replied as Applejack grabbed the bottle. She twisted the cork off of the top with relative ease, a loud ‘pop!’ echoing through the barn. Rarity squinted at the bottle, trying to look for the label.
“What kind of wine is that?” She asked as Applejack filled her own glass. She hovered the lip of the bottle over Rarity’s glass.
“It’s somethin’ I’m workin’ on,” she replied matter-of-factly as she filled Rarity’s glass. She put the bottle down onto the floor, the cork pushed back in slightly,” I remembered overhearin’ you ‘nd Fluttershy talkin’ ‘bout how ya’ll wish there was a wine that could be light and airy yet sweet and flavorful,” she picked up the glass and swirled the contents gently,”Ain’t as great as Mac’s hard cider but I think it’s pretty up there.” She nodded at the unicorn with a smirk.
“Give it a try,” She encouraged, “I recommend swirlin’ it around a bit to wake the flavors.” She watched as Rarity lifted the glass and followed her suggestion, taking a small sip. Her heart hopped several beats as Rarity’s expression changed from curiosity to pleasantly surprised.
“Oh Applejack, this is absolutely resplendent! What is this?” Rarity asked, taking another sip. Applejack swirled her wine looking at the fashionista with a smile.
“Th’ main ingredient is apples, of course, but I started havin’ ideas of mixin’ in some grapes, a couple of peach slices, and just a spoonful of zap apple jam,” she took a sip before looking back at Rarity, “I was thinkin’ a lil zap apple jam would give it the kick it needs, y’know?” She casted a glance at Rarity’s glass and noticed it was empty. She casually grabbed it and refilled it, giving a soft chuckle as Rarity ate a slice of cheese sheepishly.
“Glad ya’ll like it sugarcube, but do be mindful,” she began, placing the bottle back in it’s resting place,”this stuff may taste light, but it packs one heck of a kick,” She leaned against the bales of hay behind her, resting her arm on the bale hay holding the refreshments, and gave Rarity a warm smile. “Now, what’s on yer mind?” Rarity rolled her eyes and groaned.
“Ugh, where to begin?”
Applejack and Rarity would always have these late night meetings, Rarity sneaking out of her boutique to come over to Sweet Apple Acres and just have a night of angry ranting, gossiping, and Applejack's favorite part, talking about their...sexual excursions. It was Applejack’s favorite because it was mostly a tipsy Rarity ranting about her latest lay and how sexually frustrated she is. It also gives Applejack the opportunity to bite her tongue as her fashionista friend (and the object of her affections) spoke. The amount of times she had to dance around the topic of her own sexual encounters almost outweigh the embarrassing amount of times she nearly gave away her feelings toward Rarity.
Almost.
She watched as Rarity was hit with the strength of the wine, her cheeks becoming a bit more flushed, her eyelids lowering, but her speech remaining in its fast paced clarity. Apparently, the conversation instantly went to her frustrations with Trenderhoof, especially with his performance in the bedroom. She threw her arms up in frustration as her voice grew in volume.
“I mean, it’s bad enough that I have to do most of the work to get you off, at least attempt to arouse me! Try to get me off! Act like you care!” She shouted angrily. Applejack couldn’t help but snicker, grabbing Rarity’s attention.
“Stallion troubles, huh?” Applejack chuckled, eating a couple of crackers. Rarity gave an exasperated sigh.
“You would think at least one of them would know how to show a mare a good time,” she muttered into her glass before taking a sip. The farmer scoffed before downing and refilling her glass.
“Tell me ‘bout it. If I had a bit for ev’ry single time I had a stallion go limp on me after he got his, I’d probably be cozied up with them fancy ponyfolk by now,” Applejack chuckled lightly. It took her some time before she realized that an ever so intrigued Rarity was now staring at her intently, her face resting comfortably in her palms.
“Oh don’t mind me darling, do continue” She spoke excitedly as if she realized Applejack may have some new secrets to share. Applejack’s cheeks turned a bright crimson as her ears laid flat against her head.
Shoot, she thought, I just had t’ open my dag gone muzzle!
“I-I’m sure ya’ll don’t wanna hear about all that!” she sputtered. It was Rarity’s turn to scoff.
“Nonsense! You have to deal with me complaining about my own sexual frustrations! It’s only fair that you get to air out your grievances!” she replied. Applejack felt the room warm up a bit.
Uh...tell her that ya ain’t got no idea how to start! She thought.
“I-I wouldn’t even know where to start ha ha!”
“Oh just begin darling!”
Shoot! She panicked. Uh…T-try saying it's too vulgar!
"I-it might be a bit vulgar!"
"Oooh even better!" There was no avoiding it. She'd have to talk about it. She sighed and chewed her bottom lip before downing her glass with an audible gulp.
“Alright, fine,” Applejack said, watching Rarity sit up excitedly. Applejack leaned her head back and looked at the roof, “So, it kinda started with Caramel-” Rarity cut her off with a loud gasp.
“Caramel?!” She shouted. Applejack shushed her, blushing harder.
“Yes! Caramel! He kept comin’ by th’ farm and, well, I kinda picked up that it wasn’t b’cause of our apples, per say.”
“Oooooh~,” Rarity replied teasingly, “I suppose Caramel wanted to try a different kind of apple.” Applejack groaned as the unicorn winked and took another sip. Applejack continued with her story.
“Well, he offered to have a quickie and I decided to take him up on it.” Applejack shrugged
“Ooh how was it?” Rarity asked. Applejack scrunched up her nose.
“Fella figured a bit o’ rough rammin’ would start the engine, when he needed help puttin’ the key in the ignition,” Applejack grumbled while Rarity wound up choking and sputtering on the wine. The farmer had to bite the inside of her cheek to stop herself from laughing.
“B-but,” the seamstress managed to say through coughing, ” were you able to at least finish at some point?” the farmer shook her head.
“I thought it was just th’ one time, but I noticed that with ev’ry other partner I’ve had just… didn’t hit th’ mark,” Applejack sighed frustratedly,” Shoot, I’ve had to think about somethin’ else t’ get off.” There was a silence as Applejack slowly realized that she may have exposed herself a little bit more, and her face went redder. She watched as Rarity’s cheeks went a tint redder.
“So..” Rarity started up. Applejack braced herself for the question as she continued, ”What do you think about?” There it is. Applejack flicked her ear.
“Hmm?”
“To get off, darling” Rarity clarified, her voice a bit more reserved, “w-what do you think about?”
“Well…”the farmer played with the individual straws of hay, rationalizing with herself.
Talk about th’ kinks, she thought, Just don’t mention her.
“ I guess it depends,” the farmer sat up a bit more as she continued,”When I’m on top I just think about drivin’ them crazy, y’know?”
“And how would you do that?” Rarity asked, flicking her tail. Applejack’s eyes lowered, her mind conjuring up the raunchy images as she explained.
“I’d probably start by some, uh, light teasin’-”
“Light teasing?”
“Yeah. Some light touches, gentle biting,” Applejack’s mind flashed images of herself leaving teeth marks along a white unicorn’s chest. She felt herself growing warmer, ”I’d move nice and slowly too, and I’d stop right before I get t’ their lower bits,” The heat in the room seemed to intensify as she continued,”I’d hover right where they’d want me and watch ‘em squirm, and I’d only give ‘em what they want when they beg for it. I’d take ‘em right up to the edge, then at the last minute, right when they’re close, I’d pull away, just to watch 'em get as hot, bothered and beggin' as possible." Another silence. Applejack heard the unicorn shift against the hay pile ever so slightly.
"And...suppose they...beg to your liking?" Rarity asked, gliding her finger around the rim of her glass. A smirk danced on Applejack’s lips, her mind conjuring the image of her needy sub begging for her to push them over the edge and give them the release they crave.
"I'd give 'em what they want an' more ," she said, her voice a tad lower and deeper than she intended. Once again silence. The farmer’s mind left the fantasy and returned to reality, her face heating up at the realization that she just opened up a tad too much about her kinks. "What if you were a submissive?" Rarity interjected. Applejack tried to respond, but a bit of spit made too far of a turn in her throat and instead of going into the esophagus, it went down her windpipe and choked her. She put her glass down and began sputtering and coughing.
"W-what did you say? "Applejack sputtered.
"You know, when somepony's being dominant over you, leading the foreplay," Rarity casually explained.

"Oh!" Rarity’s head bounced up off of her palm as she realized what Applejack was talking about. She gently rested her head back into her palm,"What if you were submissive?" Her eyes had lowered, a small smile rested on her lips as Applejack stared at her wide eyed, unable to proceed the question. Rarity shrugged.

"I, uh,"the farmer muttered, "i haven't really...given it much thought t' be honest, heh," Applejack replied. Rarity scoffed as she got to her hooves and walked a couple paces in front of the farmer. Applejack looked up at her friend, bemused.
"Good to know that somepony can appreciate the hardwork I put into my figure," she said, causing the farmer to snap back into reality. The farmer looked away, extremely ashamed of her actions toward somepony who was supposed to be her friend.
"Oh no darling, don't look away!" She heard Rarity say,"You're supposed to be indulging me and my fantasy! "
She uh...does have a point, she rationalized with herself. She bit the inside of her cheek and looked back at her very, very attractive friend. Rarity placed a hand on her hip, smiling deviously at her flustered, farmer friend.
"Picture this, Applejack," the fashionista began, slowly walking towards her. Applejack couldn’t help but be captivated by the sway of her hips as she walked, “your wrists are bound to the headboard-”
“My wrists 're what?” Applejack interrupted. It took her a moment to realize that her friend was hovering above her, a hoof on each side of the farmer’s waist. Rarity lowered herself into Applejack’s lap, their muzzles a few inches apart. Applejack felt her body heat up, her cheeks a deep red.
“R-Rarity?” Applejack managed to sputter out, only for a single white finger to rest on her orange lips. Rarity’s half lidded gaze rested on that finger, before slowly meeting Applejack’s, her gorgeous sapphire blue eyes filled with a feeling Applejack was afraid of mislabeling.
“Shhh,” she cooed, “you’re not supposed to interrupt, darling.” Applejack only responded with a small nod, earning a smile from the unicorn. She moved her hips upward a bit, causing the earth pony to sweat.
“Now where were we?” She continued,” Ah! Yes! Your wrists are bound to the headboard, completely stripped bare of your clothes,” she slowly slid her finger from the flustered farmer’s lips to under her chin, “your nethers, aching and dripping wet from excitement and anticipation. She watched as the fashionista finished her glass, noticing how red her cheeks were. Her eyes lit up, almost as if she had a realization, placing the glass down on the bale of hay.
“ I almost forgot!” she piped up, snapping Applejack from her haze,” I won’t be in Ponyville for the next two weeks.” Applejack looked confused.
“Wha, why?” she asked. Rarity put her hands together, smiling excitedly.
“Fashion Week!” she replied.
“‘Fashion Week?’” Applejack asked.
“ A week in Canterlot where each invited seamstress shows off their best designs to impress the big names in couture!” The unicorn rested her hands onto Applejack’s abdomen as she continued,” The first week is for artists to settle in, see the sights, and get some relaxing done. The actual week doesn’t actually begin until the second week.” Applejack nodded in understanding.
“I’m guessin’ Trenderhoof is excited to go with you?” She said, trying to keep the hint of jealousy to a minimum. She blinked in surprise as Rarity scrunched her muzzle in disgust.
“I’m using it as a break away from him actually” she replied dryly, “and, well to be honest Applejack, I was hoping you would go with me.” Applejack’s eyes went wide with shock.
“Wh-?!” she sputtered, trying to form a sentence,”But wouldn’t Fluttershy be a better fit? I don’t know a doggone thing ‘bout fashion!”
“Fluttershy was the one who suggested you in the first place,” Rarity replied plainly,”she and I both agreed that it would be a great opportunity to say... hang out more than just our nightly meetings and occasional picnics.” Applejack opened and closed her mouth, unsure about how to reply. Sure, she’d love to spend more time one on one with Rarity, it’d be a dream to, but there’s Trenderhoof, and the lack of privacy in a town where everypony knows everypony, and the work on the farm-
“I don’t think the farm can handle me bein’ gone fer such a time,” Applejack muttered.
“Oh, I actually spoke to Big Mac about that.”
“Y’ what?” Applejack said, taken by surprise. The fashionista shrugged.
“I merely asked if it was alright to take you away with me for two weeks. He was only a little concerned because he knew fashion wasn’t your interest, but ultimately he decided it’d be a wonderful opportunity for you to take a vacation,” She explained.
“But...But what about th’ farm?” the farmer asked, bewildered.
“He just told me to tell you that you ‘owe him one’,” Rarity responded. Applejack pondered her options. She could go with Rarity and spend a good two weeks away with just the two of them, or let the opportunity pass her by and just stay on the farm.
“I...uh…”Applejack began. She couldn’t really make up her mind, the pros and cons clouding up her judgement. It certainly didn’t help that she felt Rarity shift her hips in her lap. Applejack jumped a bit, looking at Rarity, who had a pouty expression and batting her eyelashes.
“ Pleeeeeeaaaaase Applejack?” she begged, her voice hitting a tone and pitch that left a breath caught in the farmer’s throat,”I promise I’ll make sure you’ll have a wonderful time,” she gently stroked Applejack’s cheek with the back of her palm, lowering her voice just a touch,”and I promise that you’ll feel both relaxed and entertaiined,”
She’s gonna be the death of me, Applejack thought as she let out a resigned sigh.
“Alright, I’ll go with ya.”
“You will?!”
“Yeah, I...suppose it could be a good break away from th’ farm, heh,”Applejack rubbed the back of her neck. Rarity squealed in excitement, making the farmer blush.
“ Oh thank you Applejack! You won’t regret it!” Rarity squeaked. Applejack gave her a smirk
“I do have some rules though,” she replied. Rarity sat upright in the farmer’s lap, giving her a quick nod.
“No prissy, fru fu outfits,” Applejack began. Rarity nodded. Applejack continued.
“No usin’ me as a dummy for yer outfits,” Rarity nodded again, taking longer than before to do so,”And…”
“ ‘ And’?” Rarity asked, waiting intently. Applejack took a deep breath, as stating her final request would be a double edged sword put in effect.
“And… I want a hundred percent honesty between us,” the farmer said softly. She looked into her friend’s eyes as she spoke, “I want us to be honest with each other from th’ moment we set hoof on that train t’ Canterlot, to th’ moment we make it back into Ponyville. No funny business.” She watched as Rarity stared at her for a few minutes, wide eyed. She then slowly raised her hand.
“Can we negotiate on the ‘dummy’ thing?” She asked. Applejack furrowed her brows.
“Rarity,” She replied dryly, causing the unicorn to roll her eyes and shrug.
“Alright alright,” Rarity replied, giving in, “ No prissy outfits, no using you as a dummy, and complete honesty.” Applejack nodded in approval. Rarity rose to her hooves and went to where her robe lay on the ground, bending over to pick it up (with Applejack barely pretending not to look.). Rarity shook and patted the robe free of any dirty and straws of hay, before putting it back on.
“Well I’ll be off,” She said with a smile, as she walked over to the barn door. As if on cue, Applejack stood up on her hooves and met her at the barn door. The fashionista stepped aside as the farmer opened the door for her. She smiled sweetly at the farmer,”See you at 5:30.”
“Wha, why?” Applejack asked, confused.
“Well Dear, the train to Canterlot leaves at 6 am! I’d like to be at the station thirty minutes before it departs the station.” She replied plainly. Applejack raised a brow.
“Wait… 5:30...Tomorrow mornin’?” Applejack asked.
“Well technically later today, but, precisely yes,” Rarity said with a smile. Applejack looked at her wrist to check the time on her watch. 3:30 am. She’d only have two hours to prepare. She looked back at Rarity, who was halfway through the door opening.
“Good niiiight~,” She sang as she left. Applejack gave a small wave, before closing the door and sighing. She looked at the bale of hay holding the platter, wine and glasses.
“Welp,” she said with a resigned sigh,”Might as well get this cleaned up so I can pack.”

It was crisp Friday morning. 5:45 am. Not a Rarity in sight. Applejack had tapped her hoof, waiting at the station in front of the ticket booth. She had worn a t-shirt, one of her flannels that were lined with wool, a red bandana around her neck, and a pair of blue jeans.
Oddly enough, she didn’t even need to pack. Turns out, if she didn’t decide to go, Big Mac would’ve made her. She came into the living room in the main house to find her suitcase sitting with her duffle bag by the doorway. There was a note on top of the suitcase. She picked up the note to examine it:

“Good morning, Applejack darling!” the mare called out to her. Applejack instantly gave her a warm smile, her irritation from earlier seemingly melting away.
“Howdy, Rare,” She replied once the two made it to her. The unicorn wore what appeared to be a silk mauve colored scarf, a black turtleneck with a diamond shaped hole on the chest area, revealing just a small portion of the top of her white breasts( Applejack tried hard not to linger there, especially after the night before), accompanied with a black leather jacket and blue jeans. Now that she got a closer look, she saw that Rarity’s hair is in a messy bun, curls drifting down either side of her face. She heard a soft ahem come from behind her friend and struggled to maintain the smile on her face.
Right, he’s here, she thought to herself. She looked at him, letting her smile drop a bit. He wore a white sweatshirt and blue jeans as well. Despite Applejack attempting to maintain a friendly smile to the guy, he just lowered his eyelids as his face formed a scowl.
“Mornin’, Trenderhoof,” she said flatly.
“Applejack,” he replied curtly. Rarity gave the earth pony an apologetic smile, however Applejack wasn’t the slightest bit phased. Instead she just turned back to Rarity with a light chuckle.
“Well, first I went on a ‘last minute essentials’ packing spree, then when I thought I was ready, Trenderhooof began insisting that he walk me to the station-” the unicorn was replying casually before being cut off by her coltfriend.
“I wanted to make sure that you were safe!” Trenderhoof said defensively,”I wouldn’t be able to make my trip to Manehattan with a clear conscience knowing that something could have potentially happened to you.” Applejack rolled her eyes, losing her smile completely. She doesn’t necessarily hate the guy, but her life would significantly improve about tenfold had he never dated Rarity and entered either of their lives. He constantly rubs her the wrong way, giving her the vibe of somepony who would happily use you for their own gain and shift the blame on you for why he left you behind. That’s without mentioning how weirdly possessive attitude he shows when he visits the farm with Rarity. She heard Rarity sigh, her face showing an annoyed expression.
“Anyway, he took quite a long time to get ready, and well, here we are,” The unicorn wrapped up.
“Huh…”was all Applejack could reply.
“What? You said complete transparency,” Rarity said plaintively before nodding towards the train, “Time to load our things, hm?” Applejack watched as she walked to one of the workers with one of her suitcases, Trenderhoof struggling to keep up with her, two pink suitcases slowing him down. She walked casually behind him, her bags in tow with a satisfied smirk. The three ponies handed the workers their bags and stepped aside. Applejack watched as Trenderhoof gave Rarity a tight hug, glaring daggers at the farmer the entire time. Applejack just rolled her eyes and snorted back at him. Rarity broke away from the hug and smiled at him before walking to the conductor and handing him the two tickets. She turned and smiled at her friend.
“Shall we?” the fashionista said, before entering the train car. The conductor nodded at the earth pony, giving her the okay to board the train. The farmer nodded and entered the car, looking for her friend for their seats. She saw a white arm waving and walked over to the booth, taking a seat right beside the unicorn. Rarity gave a sigh of relief, earning a chuckle from Applejack.
“Excited t’ be on the go?” She asked the unicorn, now looking extremely exhausted as she slumped in her seat.
“I feel as though I could sleep the whole two weeks we’re away,” she groaned, before sitting back up and leaning against the farmer,”How about you? I hope your morning was a tad less frustrating than my own.” Applejack shrugged and leaned back into her seat.
“Big Mac thought it’d be easier if he packed my bags,” She replied, stretching her legs and yawning. Rarity smiled
“Couldn’t sleep?” She asked, causing the earth pony to blush, before looking away.
“Not a single wink,” she grumbled, small flashes of last night’s sexual frustrations and the inspiration behind them dancing in her mind. She heard Rarity chuckle before the unicorn left out a soft yawn herself.
“I know it may be rude, Applejack,” she began, moving the farmer’s arm out of the way before resting her head on friend’s chest,”You wouldn’t mind if I took a quick nap on you, hm?” Applejack blinked as she looked down at her friend in flustered confusion.
“Er-” was all Applejack could mutter out.
“Thanks, you're an absolute gem, ” She heard Rarity mumble before tiny snores escaped her lips. Applejack blinked again before letting her arm wrapped around the smaller mare, her hand resting Rarity’s hip. She looked up at the roof in their booth, sighing as her eyes struggled to stay open. What has she gotten herself into? Hell, what was supposed to come out of this trip for her?It’s only supposed to be a relaxed friend vacation and Rarity’s moment to flaunt her style. Yet as the train began to move signified with the whistle going off, all she could think about was Rarity, how she sat in her lap, the way she spoke.
The way she looked at her.
Applejack closed her eyes, playing into the fantasy Rarity painted last night. She imagined Rarity sitting in her lap, her snow white arms wrapped around Applejack’s broad neck, grinding slowly. Applejack’s breathing grew heavier, feeling a small tingle trail its way down. She could the small gasps leaving the unicorn’s muzzle as she grew closer to the edge. She heard her whispers in her ear as her body began to shudder.
“Applejack….Applejack…..Applejack!-”
“Applejack?”
“Wha- huh?” Applejack jumped awake, her cheeks flushed a bright red. She looked down to see a white hand on her thigh, then up to see a confused Rarity. Did she just…
“Are you alright, darling?” Rarity asked.

“Y-yep!” the farmer sputtered, “Just had a weird dream’s all!” Rarity didn’t seem convinced.
“Are you sure?” She asked. Applejack looked away.
“Eeyup,” The flustered farmer replied.
“It was weird enough to make you...tremble?”
“Mhm!” a brief silence fell between the two mares before Rarity piped up again.
“Alright… well it’s a good thing you’re awake anyhow,” Applejack turned back and quirked an eyebrow, “We’re almost to Canterlot!”
“We are?” Applejack blinked as she realized the scenery outside of the train looked different from before. For one, the sun was setting, dipping behind the buildings and mountains in the distance. She tiredly rubbed her eyes as the train began to pull into the station, letting out a yawn.
“Boy, can’t tell ya how much I’m achin’ for a bed right now,” She muttered while stretching her arms, occasionally hearing a pop or two. Rarity yawned and cracked her neck.
“Oh I completely agree,” She stood up as the train came to a complete stop,” While your chest made do as wonderful pillows, there’s only so much comfort you gain from sitting upright.”
“ My what?” Applejack replied in shock,”Rarity!”
“What? It’s true!” She replied defensively, sidestepping into the main walking lane with Applejack right behind her,” So soft and cozy, why I am absolutely jealous!” the two mares exited the train to collect their bags. Applejack hoisted her duffle bag strap over her chest so that she could wheel one of Rarity’s suitcases along with her own, while Rarity grabbed the remaining two.
"Y'know it ain't nice to talk about somepony's boobs like that!" Applejack scolded her, completely flustered. Rarity smirked at the workhorse.
"You did say complete transparency," she replied with a smile, before walking off, leaving Applejack to chase after her.
“Rarity!” Applejack shouted indignantly as the two left the station.
“Thank th’ gods… they got an elevator,” the workhorse huffed as the ladies stopped in front of their room. They were both exhausted from both the train ride and the walk from the station to the hotel. Rarity seemed the one most exhausted of the two,struggling to catch her breath while using the door handle to hold herself up.
“You… and me… both” the seamstress huffed back as she fumbled for the key card. Once she got a hold of the card, she held it against the card reader and heard the corresponding click,twisting the door handle and pushing in the door to get into the room. Applejack followed behind her, dragging in the bags behind her. As she moved further into the living space, she was blown away by the size of the bed, as well as the expanse of the room and the window, showing a beautiful sunset along the horizon. The bed looked absolutely comfortable, the sheets neatly tucked with pillows stacked high against the black, gold-lined headboard, topped with a large white comforter and a thin black velvet throw blanket. There were two black nightstands set at either side of the bed, both with lit lamps resting atop them. In front of the bed, a large sleek, black dresser with a remote on top , a large flatscreen television mounted above it. There was a desk near the window with a small desk lamp and a large office chair beside it. She looked from the room to Rarity, who looked slightly disappointed.
“Hmm… It's supposed to be a tad larger…” she heard the fashionista mutter. Applejack blinked and sputtered.
“‘Supposed to be larger’?! Larger than this?!” she managed to get out, surprising the unicorn, who turned to look at her apologetically.
“I wanted to make sure we got the largest room to ensure that you can get the most comfort while here,” she explained, looking down at the floor disappointedly,”looks like we’ll have to make do with a smaller room.” The farmer couldn’t believe what she was hearing.
“ Listen here Missy, any bigger and it’d be a daggone apartment,” she walked by Rarity towards the bed. She flopped backwards, sighing in absolute bliss as the soft mattress cradled every inch of her sore back, her eyes closing as the aches and pains melting away, “this room here will do just nicely.” She heard Rarity give an awkward chuckle.
“ Well, glad you like it, but you won’t like this next bit,” She replied. Applejack flicked her ear.
“Why’s that?” She asked dryly.
“You’ll need to get up,” the unicorn replied.
“Why?”
“Because.”
“‘B’cause’?”
“We need to eat something, darling,” Rarity replied. Applejack snorted.
“I don’t need t’ eat, Sugarcube,” the farmer retorted. She heard her friend scoff.
“Oh really ?” Rarity sneered. Applejack sat up indignantly.
“Yes really! ” the earth pony replied defensively.
“You don’t need to eat?”
“No!”
“When was the last time you ate something, dear?”
“It was...uh..” Come to think of it… when was the last time Applejack ate. There was Granny’s apple celery stew, but that wasn’t since 7 p.m. last night. She pulled out her phone from her pocket to check the time. 7:02 p.m.
Has she really gone a full day eating?
“Judging by how long it’s taking for you to reach a definitive answer, you have successfully proved my point,” Rarity said with a smile. Applejack groaned as she flopped back and closed her eyes. She heard gentle hoofsteps, followed by an increase in weight and heat in her lap. She felt hands rubbing against her chest, idly playing with the buttons on her flannel. She opened her eyes in shock, only to be greeted by Rarity hovering over her with a half lidded gaze and a pouty lip, gaining a perfect view of big white cleavage.
“Pleaas e Applejack?” Rarity begged in a tone that made the workhorse sweat faster than harvesting during the summer, “I promise after good food and bathing, you’ll sleep like a newborn foal.” Applejack furrowed her brows.
“Promise?” she asked. Rarity moved her hand to her friend’s cheek, running her thumb against the farmer’s lip, causing her cheeks to go red while sending a tingle straight to her groin.
“I promise,” the unicorn replied. Satisfied, the farmer propped herself up on her elbow.
“Kinda hard to get up with you in my lap,” she said flatly. Rarity let out a chuckle.
“Depends on what of ‘up’ you’re trying to get,” the unicorn replied, getting up from Applejack’s lap, chuckling while walking to the door,”Come along darling! I know the perfect place!” Applejack got up on her hoofs and sluggishly walked over to the doorway.
“There better be some good hay burgers…” she muttered.
There weren’t any hay burgers, but Applejack was pleasantly surprised at the restaurant. She was expecting a frou frou, prissy restaurant, one that would require her to dress like a dolled up mare in a country club up in Manehattan or something. Instead, it was a casual restaurant, with food with large enough portions to leave Big Mac in a food coma. She had an apple bourbon tofu burger, and while it was arguably the best burger she’d ever had, she didn’t have the strength(or moreso, stomach space) to finish her burger. She looked up at Rarity with her wounded pride and cheeks filled with her meal, only to frown indignantly at the unicorn’s smug look as she drank her spiked strawberry sunrise.
“Good enough, darling?” She teased. Applejack scrunched her nose at her while the unicorn chuckled.
“Aww, poor thing, can’t eat it all?” she cooed. The farmer rolled her eyes at her friend as her chuckles turned into giggles, “Well, finish up what you can darling, we’ll be burning it off the walk back.”
Oh right, the earth pony thought, the walk back.
The walk wasn’t bad per say, but when your gut is absolutely full of good food and have yet to have an opportunity to digest what you ate, you’re sure to feel at least a little winded. Rarity and Applejack entered into the room again, the earth pony plopping down to sit on the bed, letting out a long sigh.
“I think I’m all tuckered out, Rare,” she said leaning back on her palms. She leaned her head back and closed her eyes.
“Don’t relax just yet darling,” she heard Rarity say, before feeling hands on her thighs, causing her eyes to shoot open and her head to tilt forward. Rarity’s face was mere centimeters away, “We still have to bathe.”
“W..We ?” Applejack asked, confused. Her friend stood up straight, fixing her turtleneck,
“Well, I figured it’d be faster if we just showered together,” Rarity casually explained. The workhorse could only blink at her.
“T’gether?”
“Yes.”
“Why’s that?”
“Because you’ll ruin the shower settings,” Rarity quickly replied. Her eyes looked to the purple carpet as her tail flicked. She just lied.
Gotcha, the workhorse thought.
“Is that th’ truth ?” she asked wryly. The unicorn’s cheeks turned from white to pink as her eyes flitted from Applejack to the ground, “Thought so. I said ‘no usin’ me as a dummy’, remember?” Rarity looked at her, confused.
“What do you mean?”
“Y’ wanted to get a hands on feel fer how t’ make an outfit fer a larger model, so what better opportunity than a shower with yer friend?” Applejack explained smugly. Rarity stared back in disbelief.
“Applejack, I don’t think-”
“Listen, I’ll let it slide just this once as a ‘thank you’ for ev’rything, okay?” Applejack interrupted, getting up to her suitcase to grab her nightwear. She wandered into the bathroom and flicked on the lights, whistling in surprise of its beauty. The room was a sleek black white color, the sink being of black marble and white porcelain. The shower had no curtains, just pristine glass doors. The toilet was white and shiny porcelain, with the steel towel racks filled with folded towels and washcloths. She placed her clothes atop the lid of the toilet, then began undressing starting with her hat and hair ties, both of which she set atop the sink. She heard the door click open as she was messing with the third button on her flannel, turning to face the door.
“Sorry for the wait darling! I had to grab some of my bottles of body wash for the-” Rarity stopped mid sentence, her cheeks tinting pink. She stared at Applejack, mouth slightly agape. The earth pony started feeling awkward, looking down at her hooves.
“Yeah...uh.. I ain’t...much of a looker-”
“Goddess you’re absolutely stunning ” she heard the unicorn say,her voice low. Applejack’s face went red.
“Y-ya’ll don’t gotta lie to me heh,” She sputtered out, the comment taking her by surprise. Rarity placed the bottles atop the sink and began idly unbuttoning Applejack’s flannel.
“I knew letting your hair down would bring out your facial features, but goodness not to this extent,” Rarity continued, reaching the button just above Applejack’s waistline,”I mean, I was assuming your jawline was nicely chiseled but not beautifully carved .”
“W-well, I-”
“Oh, and how it brings out those gorgeous sparkling emerald green eyes!”
“‘Sparklin’? Wha-”
“ And those adorable freckles-” Rarity paused as she opened her friend’s flannel, revealing a white t-shirt nicely hugging her torso. Applejack’s brow quirked as she watched the seamstress’s cheeks turn a darker shade, feeling her fingers slowly spreading over her abdomen.
“Rare?”
“Oh goddess-”
“Rarity,” Applejack said firmly, snapping her friend from whatever trance she was in.
“Hm?” she finally responded. Applejack nodded towards the shower.
“Shower,” she replied,” Wanna start it for us?”
“Oh right!” Rarity replied, moving past Applejack to open up the shower door,”Finish getting undressed and pick the one you want! I’ll get the water running for us!” Applejack nodded, hearing the shower start up. She was hoping the heat in her face would leave as she began to unbuckle and dropped her pants, revealing her tight red shorts.
Bad day to go C’manndo, she thought nervously, pulling down the shorts and seeing how damp the spot where her lower lips were. It definitely didn’t help with all the compliments she was receiving from Rarity. Sparklin’ eyes, She thought, lifting her shirt over her head. Not to mention her antics today, sitting in her lap, using those tones in her voice, plus the light touches and caresses? She tossed the shirt onto the sink and looked at the three bottles. One was a honey color, the other two a pink color. She grabbed the honey colored one and tried to undo her bra, before feeling hands against her back, causing her to jump
“I can get that for you,” she heard Rarity say as she felt her bra come undone, her breasts hanging freely. She gave a sigh of relief , and turned to thank the mare, only to quickly look away after seeing that she was completely nude.
“Sweet Hearth’s Warming! ” she hissed.
“Oh come now, Applejack, you’ve seen me already!” Rarity replied teasingly.
“Ya had clothes on before!” the flustered farmer retorted.
“It was lingerie, darling, and it was barely hiding anything,” she felt a hand rest on her arm as Rarity continued on,”Applejack, look at me!”
“Nope.”
“Please?” it was a simple word but it was enough to get the earthpony to look at her. Her breath got caught in her throat, finally seeing all of her friend. Rarity gave her a smirk.
“See?” she cooed, placing a hand on her hip,”Not that bad!” Applejack’s face was as red as the apples on her flank. She fumbled grabbing the honey colored body wash and tried to look anywhere else but at Rarity’s nude figure.
"I'm uh..gonna head in," Applejack finally spoke, managing to walk into the shower without any hiccups along the way. She felt the hot water hit her back immediately, causing her to flinch, before relaxing her muscles under the water. She closed her eyes and let out a deep sigh. She let the heat and steam consume her, the droplets melting away any tensions she seemed to have in her body. Suddenly, she heard the shower door click, her ear flicking at the sound. She felt a tap on her shoulder.
"Could you pass the body wash, darling?" She heard Rarity ask. She held out the body wash without daring to look back at her. She felt the bottle leave her hand andpulled her hand back, resisting the urge to peek.
Just relax, she thought to herself, she’s got th’ same parts as you. She tried not to imagine Rarity’s figure. Or think about how it’s just the two of them alone. Or how they’re both nude in the shower. Or-
She felt something cold sliding down her back, followed by a pair of hands rubbing against her back. Applejack flinched and turned her head back.
“What the-” Applejack hissed.
“I figured since I’m going to use you as my...er…’dummy’, why not at least scrub your back for you?” Rarity explained. She felt the unicorn flex her fingers along her shoulder blades, scratching lightly as she dragged her hands down slowly. Applejack relaxed a bit, turning her head back to the wall. As Rarity’s hands explored her back, she started to relax, leaning into her palms and closing her eyes. She could feel her hands massage her upper back, slowly sliding her fingers down, stopping just above her lower back, before rubbing her hands upwards again. The workhorse let out a contented sigh, letting her mind go. Her breathing began to slow, her breaths growing heavier as her mind began to fog again. Is it the steam? The heat from the water? She felt Rarity’s finger slide down to the base of her tail, sending shivers to her groin.
Oh… I know this feeling, she thought, feeling fingers gently glide to her sides, thumbs kneading her hips ever so lightly. Her back began to tingle in the spots Rarity’s fingers were, while she felt fingers press in a little harder just above the base of her tail. A moan bubbled up in the back of the earth pony’s throat, where she kept it and went for a quieter sigh and biting her lower lip. She felt her friend knead much slower, each one adding more pressure than the last. The tingles and shivers soon turned into a throb between her thighs. She shut her eyes tighter, feeling herself tip closer to the edge, before feeling those hands rest on her hips. Her breath got lodged in her throat as she felt something soft press against her back.

“W-well I’m just about good over here aha ha ha,” Rarity spoke quickly before opening the shower door. Applejack’s eyes followed as she stepped out, drinking in the sight. The unicorn was dripping wet, every inch of her body covered in droplets. The farmer had to tighten her jaw once her eyes decided to rest on her friend’s large, surprisingly toned, heart shaped ass. Her gaze quickly shot up as she saw Rarity turning around.
“I’m going to get dressed for bed darling,” She said with a sigh,”good night!” With that, she closed the shower door and left, leaving a very aroused but very confused Applejack, standing in the shower. She scratched the back of her neck, as the water continued to wash over her.
“What the hay was that about..?” she pondered.
“Not exactly dry but, it’ll do,” Applejack muttered to herself as she stepped out of the steamed filled bathroom into the now dark living space. She wore a black tank top that hugged her torso quite comfortably, and a pair of tight black shorts that accentuated her hips and rear. As she stepped further into the room, she could hear a light snoring coming from the bed. She looked over to see Rarity sprawled out on the bed under the covers, snoring away while snuggling her pillow. Applejack sighed with a smile. It should be illegal for a mare to be both extremely attractive and adorable at the same time. She walked over to the other side and pulled back the blankets, climbing beside her and laying on her back. She shifted aside to give her as much space as appropriately possible and pulled the blankets up to her stomach and stared at the ceiling, her mind racing a mile a minute. She probably would’ve gone to sleep after a nice hot shower like that, but due to the previous night’s edging, an interrupted wet dream on the train earlier, and now the events that took place in the shower, her very needy lower bits were both distractingly disappointed by today’s lack of orgasms that took place within the span of those events, and aching for the release that they so crave. Applejack let out a long, quiet sigh.

Maybe t’morrow it’ll be a little less awkward, she thought, drifting off, and a little less sticky.
She wasn’t entirely sure what time it was, but it was definitely in the middle of the night. She was dreaming soundly about that delicious tofu burger when she felt some weight placed on her chest and leg, followed by a gentle caress on her abdomen, then a slow but steady warmth in those respective locations. It interrupted Dream Jack’s burger eating ventures, and inevitably woke her up. She opened her eyes to a now dimly lit ceiling due to the moonlight. Though, this time there was something tickling her under her chin. The weighed down spots on her body grew just a bit heavier now that she was awake. Wait… is that…?
Is that… light snorin’ I hear? She looked over to where she previously saw her friend sleeping, only to see that there was a bare pillow beside her. She looked down at her to see a lump, presumably her friend’s leg wrapped around her own, with a smaller lump, presumably that same friend’s hand, over her abdomen, followed by soft snoring. A blush crept onto her face as fast as the realization struck her. Rarity isnt sleeping on her side of the bed.
Rarity was cuddling her.

There are many reasons why it’s completely okay to cuddle your friends. Form closer bonds, develop trust, enjoying the other’s space. Though, with those kinds of cuddles, the positions assumed hardly felt like there was more than what meets the eye. Certain positions communicate that ‘this bond is strictly friends’. Others, like the one that Applejack is currently experiencing, can muddy the line if not communicated clearly.
The larger mare laid there, completely at a loss on how to react. She blinked at the ceiling, the realization giving her the most unneeded burst of adrenaline and heart palpitations so far.
Okay, we’re definitely not sure how the hay this happened, or moreso, why, she thought her eyes flitting from the ceiling to the unicorn snuggled and snoring ever so comfortably on top of her. She furrowed her brows at the ceiling, But we ain’t gonna let it continue! She shifted herself to lay on her side, tucking her arm under her pillow and turning her front side to face Rarity. She gave a light smug snort.
Maybe now she’ll wanna turn to her side, then I can- her thoughts were interrupted by a small groan, followed by the sound of sheets shifting, then a tight but gentle hold across her back, ending with a content sigh and light snoring. Of course her plan would backfire. Why did she assume that would work? She sighed and draped her arm over the smaller unicorn, feeling herself dozing off again.
I’m definitely gonna bring this up t’morrow, she thought sternly before nodding off.
The sound of singing birds outside of the window woke Applejack, much to her dismay. She wasn’t sure what she was dreaming about, but she was having one of the most comfortable sleeps since she had to bunker down at Rarity’s during that downpour. Keeping her eyes closed, she sighed thinking about that night, when her feelings for her friend became clear to her.
It was a stormy Wednesday evening at Carousel Boutique. Applejack was helping Rarity with the last of her errands, reorganizing her fabric closet. The farmer was just setting down the last box when she heard her friend from across the room.
“It’s really coming down out there,” Rarity said with a concerned tone. Applejack walked over, stopping a couple paces behind Rarity, watching the rain pour outside of the window, the wind aggressively blowing against the window pane while tree branches sway against the gusts. Applejack winced, then let out a disappointed sigh.
“I was hopin’ I could beat th’ storm,” she spoke disheartedly, “I better go.” Rarity whipped around to face her, taken aback by Applejack’s words.
“I sure do hope by that you mean ‘go into the living room and get comfortable’!” the unicorn replied. Applejack gave an awkward chuckle.
“Well, it ain’t like I can stay here,” Applejack retorted. Rarity quirked a brow.
“And why not?” she shot back. Applejack sweat a little. She couldn’t really put her finger on it, but for some reason the thought of sharing a living space with Rarity for a night gave her a different kind of butterflies than the one she had when they stayed at Twilight's house for a night. The kind of butterflies that a foal got the night before Hearth’s Warming. It’s been like that lately, spending any time with Rarity made her feel giddier than a pig finding a mud puddle. Normally, she’d find a way to bail and use that space to get rid of all of that extra energy, but with the rain eating away at her options, she was stuck stewing with it.
“Well I….” She started to scramble for an excuse.
“‘Well’?” Rarity asked expectantly. Applejack’s eyes darted around.
“I gotta get back to th’ farm and do some apple buckin,” she blurted out. The fashionista looked at her with a blank expression.
“In the middle of a downpour,” Rarity replied flatly.
“Y-yeah…” Applejack mumbled, realizing how dumb of an excuse that was.
“Uh huh,” was all Rarity could say before walking past her larger friend and patting her arm, “I’ll go grab some things to make your stay comfortable. Go get freshened up.” She then walked out of the room. The workhorse waited until she could hear hoofsteps clack against the stairs before facepalming and groaning.
“Shoot!” she hissed.
Applejack walked into the kitchen, massaging her palm when she noticed Rarity sitting at the table, sipping from a teacup and looking outside of the window. She had a small smile resting on her lips as she listened to the raindrops blow against the window, before looking over at Applejack.
“Feel free to grab a seat darling,” she spoke casually, motioning to the empty chair next to her. Applejack nodded and tried to go for the seat furthest from the unicorn, as the idea of being right next to her gave her butterflies again, but a chuckle stopped her in her tracks.
“Sit with me, Applejack,” she said, another small chuckle leaving her lips as she lifted her teacup once more,” I don’t bite, darling.” The earth pony’s cheeks tinted a light pink, before she sat in the chair beside Rarity. Her body felt jittery, her heart began to thud a little in her chest. What was going on with her?
“Enjoyin’ the rain, Rare?” she asked, trying to ignore the bubbly feeling in her stomach. Rarity took another sip of her tea and lowered the cup after, giving a gentle sigh.
“It’s quite relaxing,” She replied quietly, “Watching it I mean. Being out there would be an absolute nightmare for my hair and my outfit.” It was Applejack’s turn to chuckle, which earned a smirk from Rarity. She brushed a strand of her hair behind her ear, looking back to the window,”There’s something about it that just allows me to...take a break and breathe. “Things have been a little rough for ya?” She asked. Rarity looked down at her cup, her eyes carrying just a tinge of sadness.
“ A little,” she replied, her finger tracing the rim of the cup,” I feel as though along the way, I lost a bit of the...joy that comes with creating new pieces,” Applejack’s gaze softened as Rarity continued to open up,” Some days I feel as though I’m just, throwing things together to appease the masses, and it works don’t get me wrong, but because of it,” the unicorn paused and let out a quick sigh, before continuing,”It leaves me with the thought that, I don’t actually deserve the recognition I receive. If I can just...toss anything together without even trying, or just phone in a new dress idea and get endless praise, am I truly an artist or just some overrated cheat who got lucky?” tears were welling up in the corners of her eyes. Applejack’s ears went back, her heart tugging as the tears began to fall, Rarity’s voice became quieter and shakier,”Maybe this career was just a mistake. Or maybe I stole this popularity from somepony who truly deserves it. Or... maybe I never really deserved to label myself an artist at all,” A silence fell between them, save for the wind blowing against the window pane and gentle sniffles. Rarity began wiping away at her eyes with the back of her hands , giving a sad chuckle.
“My apologies, Applejack,” She spoke, clearing her throat a bit,”wasn’t expecting to um… “ the unicorn fell silent, cupping her teacup with her hands. Applejack placed her hand on her friend’s forearm and rubbed it gently with her thumb, giving her a comforting look.
“I understand,” she replied softly, “and, thank you, fer trustin’ me enough, t’ open up like this, Sugarcube. I know it ain’t easy for ya.” Rarity gave a light snort, putting her hand on top of Applejack’s, running her thumb on the back of the earth pony’s palm. Applejack’s heart skipped a beat.
“It may not be,”she replied, looking down at both of their hands,” but I feel as though I can be...open with you,” She gazed at the farmer, her sparkling sapphire blue eyes filled with warmth,”Almost as if… I don’t have to put up a facade when I’m with you. I can just be me.” A warmth that started in her chest spread all throughout Applejack’s body at Rarity’ words. Her cheeks turned pink, and she looked down at the table, a smile dancing on her lips.
“Shucks, Rare,” She said,”didn’t think y’ trusted me that much,”She looked back at Rarity giving her a warm smile,”I’m glad y’ feel comfortable around me.” Rarity gave her a warm smile.
“Of course darling,” she replied,” it’s why I’ll always enjoy spending time with you. You’re always open and… reassuring, but never afraid to get to the root of the issue, all while never really casting much judgement.”
“Much judgement?” Applejack asked wryly, flustering her friend.
“W-well I mean-” Rarity began to sputter, before Applejack giggled. Much to her delight, Rarity giggled with her, hitting her arm playfully. Listening to her giggle, watching her open herself up, even if it was just a little, hearing her say how comfortable she is with her, and finding out she enjoys spending time with her left Applejack feeling warm and fuzzy, like a nice mug of hot cider on a cold fall night. Rarity was still talking, but Applejack couldn’t quite hear. Her thoughts wandered to how pretty her friend’s blue eyes were, and how her voice always had that elegance that can hypnotize anypony, and how cute her little giggles and snorts were. Anypony would thank their lucky stars just to be with Rarity.

“Mm no… Those daisies would tarnish the look of the bouquet…” Applejack heard Rarity mutter from under her chin. The farmer finally opened her eyes, the room going from a pitch black to a dark blue, the room being illuminated by the light coming through the window. She went to lean back to grab her phone off of the nightstand, but the arm around her back tightened a bit. She leaned back into the bed and heard an annoyed groan.
“What time is it?” Applejack heard come from underneath.
“I was gonna figure that out, but you gripped tight b’fore I could grab my phone,” the workhorse replied, her voice low. She heard a swirl of magic and saw as her phone hovered gently infront of her. She grabbed it and tapped the screen to see the clock read 6:45 am.
“It’s ‘bout a quarter t’ 7,” Applejack answered. Another groan came, followed by a whiny squeal. Applejack was thankful that Rarity couldn’t see her smirk.
“Aw, is somepony comfy?” Applejack teased. She felt a shift underneath her.
“Quite,” the unicorn replied,” With those cushiony, pillow-like breasts of yours and the absolute plushness of this bed, my sleep was divine .”Applejack poked Rarity in the side, earning a squeak from the smaller mare.
“Yer little ‘obsession’ with my chest’s gotta stop,” Applejack spoke flatly, earning a scoff from Rarity.
“But they’re so plush and soft!” the unicorn whined. Applejack rolled over, earning another whine from her friend, “Applejaaack, come baaaack.”
“Nope.”
“Pleeease?” She heard Rarity whine. It shouldn’t, but hearing Rarity whine made her feel just a little too hot and bothered. She shifted herself just a bit to ignore the tingling feeling coming from her lower bits, which earned an annoyed grunt from Rarity.
“What, thought that would work?” Applejack asked snidely. She felt a chin press into her hip and jumped, Rarity gently laying her head on the workhorse’s hip.
“Well, yes ,” She replied, ”and I wanted at least another ten or so minutes of sleep.” Applejack looked towards her friend, quirking a brow.
“And t’ do that, y’ need to cuddle me?” She retorted. Rarity shrugged.
“ Cuddling helps me sleep,” she replied casually, ”I have a body pillow in my room since cuddling Trenderhoof is… difficult .” Rarity scrunched up her muzzle at the mention of her coltfriend’s name. Applejack tilted her head.
“Any specific reason why y’ keep makin’ that face when you mention his name?” She asked.
“What face?” Rarity replied.
“Ya look like y’ holdin’ mud in yer hands at the mention of his name.”
“I do?”
“Ya do.” Rarity looked up to the ceiling, briefly lost in thought, before shrugging apparently and dismissing it. She sat up abruptly, Applejack turning over to look in confusion. Her confusion changed into awe as the sun’s rays began to shine into the room, one ray in particular casting its glow onto the beautiful mare, purple strands of hair shining in the glow, the silhouette of her curvy, gorgeous figure highlighted as she stretched. The earth pony couldn't help but stare.
“Well, we might as well get ready,” Rarity said, breaking Applejack from her trance.
“Huh?” Applejack replied, trying to ignore the inappropriate thoughts going through her mind. The smaller mare just climbed over her friend, giving her a nice view of her cleavage, and walked over to the bathroom. Applejack watched her walk, mouth agape, her hips swaying as she sauntered into the bathroom, standing in the doorway and giving the farmer, at least that’s what she assumes, a sly smirk.
“Hopefully you'll have your mouth off of the floor and be at least half dressed by the time I’m done freshening up in here?” She cooed. Applejack’s face went red, ashamed that she was just caught ogling her friend again .
“I-I uh..” Applejack sputtered, looking away. She was at a loss for words. Rarity simply chuckled and closed the bathroom door. Applejack sighed in annoyance.
"Just had to stare at her rear," She muttered to herself, finally sitting up to get ready.
Applejack was idly playing a game on her phone, sitting on the bed with a clean pair of blue jeans and a black bra, the words from last night playing over and over in her head.
Sparklin' eyes, she thought, blowing a puff of air out of her nose, cute freckles , even called me stunnin'! She blushed a little bit, thinking about her friend’s flattering words. She felt her face get hotter at the memory of her friend’s antics: sitting in her lap, showering with her, cuddling with her.
Just what is that mare up to? , she thought, looking at the clock on her phone and sighing, and what the hay is takin’ her so dang long?!. Almost as if on cue, the bathroom door opened, Rarity stepping out and posing in the doorway. She wore white slim fitting jeans, an elegant navy blue shoulder cut sweatshirt, with a white pearl necklace and matching earrings. Instead of her usual cyan blue eyeshadow, she went with a darker blue eyeshadow and sky-blue eyeliner. Applejack couldn’t take her eyes off of her.
“Landsakes, ” Applejack spoke a little too loudly. She watched as the unicorn’s cheeks went pink, brushing a curl back and looking at the ground.
“ Do you think it’s too… plain?” She asked shyly. Applejack blinked in shock.
“‘Plain’?” Applejack replied, ” You might give these fancy ponyfolk whiplash with how you'd be turnin’ heads!” Rarity gave her a wave, cupping her cheek as it turned to a deeper shade of red.
“Oh Applejack, you charmer,” she replied. She stood up straight in the doorway, looking at her friend with a smile, “Do go hurry and wash up darling, i want you to try something on.” Applejack furrowed her brows.
“Rare..” She replied flatly.
“It’s not me ‘using you as a dummy’,” she quickly responded, “I just want to make sure it fits okay before I give it to you.” There was a long, hard stare accompanied by silence, before Applejack walked over to her suitcase to grab her toothbrush and hair brush and made her way to the bathroom. She walked past Rarity and stood behind the door, holding the door handle.
“Alright Rare,” she said, rolling her eyes, “But no tricks. I don't wanna come out here an’ you try to rope me into being a dummy.”
“I won’t, Darling,” the fashionista nodded. Applejack nodded back and closed the door, turning on the faucet so that she could start her morning routine. She cupped her hands and splashed her face with water, sighing quietly at the warmth. She grabbed a face towel and dried off her face. She then began to brush her hair and tail, grabbed her hair twists and put them both in their signature ponytail. Next she started brushing her teeth. Her mind buzzed as she stared at her own reflection, thinking about her friend’s compliments again. She gently touched her cheek, staring at her freckles, then moved her hand to her abdomen, blushing lightly. She remembered the tone of voice Rarity used when she was touching her.
What in the name of Celestia was on her mind to sound like that?
She heard a gentle knock and snapped back into focus. She finished brushing and rinsing her teeth, set her toothbrush on the sink and turned the faucet off, leaving the bathroom. Stepping out, she saw Rarity unraveling what appeared to be a black button down shirt. Rarity turned her head and excitedly beckoned the farmer. When Applejack was close enough, Rarity used her magic to put the shirt on her. Applejack stood there confused, as she struggled to process how the shirt went from being held in Rarity’s hands, to being wrapped around her body. Meanwhile, Rarity began buttoning up the shirt with a small smile. Once she reached the top button, she straightened out the collar and tugged at the hem, then took a step back to look at her handiwork. Applejack tried to read her expression, putting her hands in her pocket and tilting her head. She watched as the smaller mare’s eyes slowly looked her over.
“Uh…” the earthpony spoke finally, “ do I look okay?” Rarity blinked and looked into her friend’s eyes, pensive.
“Well, personally, I think you look wonderful, but,” Rarity rubbed her chin, looking up and down at Applejack once more before continuing, “ why don’t you go take a look and tell me your opinion?” Applejack raised a brow, then shrugged and did as she was asked. When she looked into the mirror she gasped, loud enough for Rarity to hear.
“Everything alright, dear?” She heard Rarity call out. Applejack’s eyes were glued to her reflection, the black shirt carefully hugging her form, the seams were embroidered white with a beautiful white rose perfectly stitched over her left breast. She turned around, and was blown away, five embroidered roses on her upper back, two of them on either side red, the one in the center white. She heard Rarity standing in the doorway, turning back to face the mirror.
“Rare it’s…” Applejack began, still admiring the handiwork. She looked over to her friend to see her smiling softly. Applejack ran her fingers through her hair, blushing a bit.
“I’m so glad you love it,” She replied happily. Applejack smiled warmly at her.
“Thank you, Rarity,” She said softly. Rarity looked down at her own hooves, blushing a light pink, then straightened the hem of her friend’s shirt once again clearing her throat and taking a deep breath.
“Grab your jacket darling,” She said, looking up at her, “We’re going to grab some breakfast, and i know just the place!”
Once again, Rarity surprised her with the choice of restaurant. This time, it was a diner with, as Rarity called it, “modern aesthetic”. They were seated in a booth next to a large glass window. Rarity had a coffee with french vanilla cream and a light harvest egg white omelette, while Applejack ordered a tall stack of pancakes(apparently they came with fruit) and a side of coffee (she panicked when the waitress asked her what flavor, so she sputtered and asked for the same one as Rarity, who was quietly giggling.) The two mares were waiting for their orders to arrive, Applejack watching as the fashionista stared out the window, idly fiddling with the napkin that was carefully wrapped around her utensils. The farmer noticed that her friend’s expression looked contemplative, eyebrows furrowed as whatever she was thinking about rested on her mind heavily.
“Everythin’ alright, Sugarcube?” Applejack asked gently, breaking Rarity out of thought.
“Hmm?” the unicorn said, blinking a couple of times.
“Ya just seem distracted is all,” Applejack explained. Rarity shrugged her shoulders and gave a small smile.
“It’s alright darling,” She replied before looking at the window again, her tone sounding contemplative ”just… something on my mind is all.” Applejack tilted her head a bit, tempted to reach her hand out to her friend’s.
“Y’ wanna talk about it?” She asked softly. She watched as Rarity’s eyes dropped down, before closing them, taking a deep breath, and turning her head back to Applejack as she looked down at her hands.
“Well…” she began, struggling for the right words to say,”to be honest Applejack… I-”
“Two coffees with french vanilla creamers, one garden medley egg white omelette, and our tallest stack of pancakes with fresh maple syrup!” a cheery waitress interrupted her, causing both mares to flinch as she set down their order. The waitress stood up straight after setting everything down with a smile,” Anything else I can get you ladies?”
“No, thank you darling!” Rarity replied in a cheery tone, surprising the farmer with the sudden change. The waitress nodded at the two and walked away. Applejack looked down at her plate, and her stomach gave a low rumble at the sight. Six perfectly stacked, thick pancakes, the top decorated with an arrangement of strawberries and blueberries, surrounded by a ring of whipped cream. Her stomach growled louder as she continued to stare. She picked up her utensils and unraveled them, placing the spoon down in favor of the knife and fork. She was ready to dig in until she looked at her friend, who seemed disinterested in her omelette, idly poking away at it with her fork as her attention went back to the window. Her stomach tried gaining her attention, and it worked long enough to get her to eat a decent amount out of her breakfast . The pancakes were light and fluffy, buttery and yet sweet from the whipped cream with a hint of freshness coming from the fresh fruit. Despite how wonderful her meal tasted, she couldn’t fully enjoy it, seeing Rarity so down.
"Rarity?" Applejack called out to her, but the unicorn didn't seem to hear. Whatever was on her mind seemed to weigh heavy. The farmer took her fork and gently poked her friend with it, causing the mare to jump.
"Wha?" Rarity sputtered out. Applejack pointed at the omelette with her fork.
"Ain't ya hungry, sugarcube?" she asked, concerned, "you've been pickin' away at yer omelette while gettin' lost into the window." She watched as Rarity’s ears went back, her eyes going back and forth from the table to Applejack, before looking at her plate as she poked at her omelette. Applejack’s gaze softened as she leaned closer, resting her hand on her friend’s arm. She felt Rarity twitch at her touch.
“What’s goin’ on, Rare?” She asked softly. Rarity drew in a breath and sighed.
“I suppose I just feel as if…” she paused as if searching for the right words to say, ”as if I made the wrong choice.” Applejack raised a brow, a tad confused about which of the choices she regretted.
“Wrong choice?” she asked. Rarity’s eyes shot up from her plate to Applejack as she rushed to clarify.
“Oh! Not in ‘asking you to come with me’! That was planned since I got the invitation,” she spoke quickly, Applejack admittedly feeling a small rush of relief,” But… in Trenderhoof.”
"What did he do?" Applejack asked, her tone laced with just a pinch of anger, before Rarity waved her hand at the workhorse.
"Nothing concerning, darling," she reassured her friend, " it just feels as though I'm working hard for so little." Applejack tilted her head a bit.
"He ain't givin' ya much attention?" She replied. Rarity gave a small nod.
"Don't get me wrong, he's very attentive when it's time to be ...intimate, though very selfish," the fashionista began, "but affection wise there's just… a disconnect." She put the fork down and went for her mug, taking a sip before looking back at the window. She sighed, her hand wrapped around her mug, as she continued,"in the beginning, he was sweet and affectionate and… loving! Now, you have to wait on his hand and hoof if you want him to consider giving you a hug, a kiss or anything really. Goddess help you if you do something he doesn't approve of." She paused and looked down at her mug, unaware that Applejack (at least, on the inside) was fuming mad.
'Approval'? Who in the fuck does he think he is? She chewed on her inner cheek to try and control herself, but she was struggling. She heard Rarity shift herself a bit before she continued.
"So I would tire myself out by constantly cleaning up and organizing his space, wearing outfits I know he likes, cooking for him," Rarity’s agitation slowly grew with each action she mentioned, Applejack could see her tears of frustration welling up in the corner of her eyes,"I mean, I'm pouring myself into maintaining this diet and I-" she stopped mid sentence, tears beginning to fall. Applejack’s heart ached, she hated seeing her friend feeling so low. She shifted her hand from her friend’s arm to hand, rubbing the back of the unicorn’s palm to comfort her. Rarity took the napkin from the table and gently dabbed the corners of her eyes, giving a sad chuckle,"the funny part is, when he does finally… reward me with affection, I… I don't feel anything. "The words hit the earthpony like a slap to the face.
"Y' don't feel anything?" She asked in disbelief, "N… nothin' at all?" Rarity responded with a sad smile.
"I used to. I would feel all warm and… soft and mushy. But...now," her eyes returned to the window, a somber expression resting on her face,"not a single thing." They both sat in silence, the weight of Rarity’s true feelings hanging heavily in the air. Applejack continued to rub the back of Rarity's hand, her mind conjuring up one question.
"Why don't y' leave him?"
"Hm?" The question seemed to have taken the fashionista by surprise.
"Why don't you leave? "Applejack repeated. Rarity looked down in her lap.
"The fashion industry is a bit...talkative, darling," she explained, "and despite it being shown as a 'mare dominant' industry, it is very much the opposite. " Applejack nodded in understanding.
“So if you two were t’ end things, th’ whole fashion world would go crazy, they’d interview both of ya-”
“And… yes… they’ll side with him,” Rarity interjected, “and knowing how he is behind closed doors, I have no doubt he’ll aim to ruin my character and my career”. Rarity looked so downtrodden but Applejack was livid.
“Wh… but that’s insane!” She shouted, banging a fist against the table, earning glances from all around the establishment and a flustered Rarity hiding her face. Applejack looked around and sheepishly lowered her head before looking back at her friend.
“S… Sorry sugarcube,” she spoke in a quieter voice, “But that's ridiculous! Anypony who spends at least five minute with you can see that any sour image he tries t’ put in their heads is a lie!” Rarity didn’t seem to believe her words of encouragement. She gave a quick, small smile but her eyes ever left the coffee mug.
“I… I appreciate the thought, Applejack,” she replied quietly, “but-” she was interrupted by the earthpony taking her smaller ivory hand into her larger orange ones and holding it as tight but gentle as possible.
“Rare, you’re a gorgeous, generous mare who’s been givin’ herself and her efforts t’ ponies who don’t seem t’ understand the blood, sweat n’ tears that went into yer gifts,” Applejack said sternly, “Y'all got a keen eye, an amazin’ mind, and a charm that no sane pony can resist.” Applejack’s cheeks were burning up, but she never broke her gaze away from Rarity, who was staring back, her cheeks flushed a light pink and her eyes widened in surprise.
“Do you… really feel that way?” She spoke softly. Applejack nodded.
“I ain’t gonna lie t’ one of my best friends ‘bout that,” the earthpony replied, though it took a lot of her to use the term ‘friend’. Rarity looked away shyly, blushing before looking back at her with a warm smile.
“Thank you , Applejack,” she said, looking deep into her friend's eyes. Applejack smiled back, before picking up her fork and cutting her pancakes with it.
“Now, how bout we dig in?”She said with a wink. She earned a smile from the blushing unicorn and chuckled before taking another bite.
Rarity was excited about this jewelry store that, in the unicorn’s words, had dazzling diamonds that could outdo the stars in the sky, and of course she needed Applejack’s honest opinion on it. Applejack huffed about it, but secretly wanted to check it out in case she had any ideas for gifts. She was wandering around inside the store, admiring the jeweled necklaces, earrings and rings while wincing at the prices, until she saw Rarity across the floor, eyeing a rather shiny necklace. The workhorse walked over to stand beside her. She looked at the gems and her eyes widened: it was a gorgeous dark indigo blue necklace, each blue gemstone surrounded by two rings made of smaller white diamonds. It glittered and sparkled in the sunlight, taking the farmer’s breath away.
“Gorgeous, is it no?” She heard her friend whisper. She looked at the fashionista, staring at her friend’s sparkling blue eyes, causing her to smile.
“Absolutely,” she whispered back. Rarity gave a small chuckle and sighed.
“Everytime I come up to Canterlot, I come to this store and I just look at this necklace and just… imagine myself wearing this with the perfect dress to pair with it,” she spoke gently.
“Why don’t ‘cha get it, Sugarcube?” Applejack asked. Rarity pointed at the tag beside it and, while Sweet Apple Acres’ financial state was doing pretty well this year so Applejack could afford it, the number had enough 9’s to still sting and make her wince.
“I’d have to sacrifice some of my essential budgets, work back to back commissions and even then I’d barely be able to afford it,” the unicorn said with a sad smile, “that’s why I'm hoping for Fashion Week to go well,” She took a deep breath before continuing, “Could you imagine the amount of publicity I could get if the biggest names in the fashion industry were actually impressed by my work?” Applejack gave a snort, causing Rarity to give her a confused look.
“I know the judges will be impressed by yer work,” the earthpony replied confidently, smirking at her friend while crossing her arm over her chest, “Can’t nopony make an outfit that steals the show quite like you, Rare.” Rarity looked away with a smile, blushing and twirling a strand of her hair.
“We should.. Um… get going,” She spoke sheepishly, walking past her friend, her smile never leaving her lips. Applejack started to follow after her, but stopped to stare at the necklace one last time. She made a silent promise to herself, before walking out of the store.
They were both exhausted from the day’s activities. After the jewelry store, Rarity took Applejack to two popular tourist sites: There was the Royal Falls, which Rarity bragged about being “mesmerising” and, while she was right, it couldn’t beat seeing Rainbow Falls during the golden hour. Then there was the Holy Overview, where there is a bed of clouds hovering below, below them are rivers, trees, and mountains as far as the eye can see, the sunset casting a warm glow on the scenery. Now this, Applejack can say, was breathtaking. The earthpony heard a chuckle come from beside her, Rarity looking up at her with a smile. Applejack blushed and smiled back at her, turning back to the view. She felt something holding her arm, her cheeks growing warmer as a chilly breeze blew in. They stayed until the sun had vanished behind the mountains and twilight began, before picking up dinner to eat at the hotel.
"What a day!" Rarity exclaimed, sprawling out on the bed as Applejack set their dinner on the nightstand. The farmer chuckled as she sat down on her side of the bed.
“Don’t get too comfy, sugarcube, we still gotta bathe,” she said, leaning back. She heard Rarity groan, slowly turning into a frustrated squeal. Applejack giggled as she walked over to her suitcase.
“Ya comin’?” She asked the unicorn, gathering her change of clothes. She looked at her friend to see that she had a confused look on her face.
“You want me to shower with you again?” Rarity asked. Applejack blushed and nodded.
“I could uh… use somepony to get my back again,” She replied sheepishly, hoping rarity wouldn’t be able to see through her half-truth. Sure she did enjoy the massage/ scrub she received last night, but another part of her wanted to get another eyeful of her friend. Rarity gave her a smirk as she got up and went over to her suitcase to grab a couple of things, before standing in the doorway of the bathroom.
“Don’t be too long~!”She sang as she went inside. Applejack rolled her eyes as she listened to her friend start the shower. Grabbing her change of clothes, she headed straight for the bathroom.
It was the same routine as the night before: both mares undressing themselves, Applejack awkwardly looking away as she stepped into the shower, the workhorse steals a couple of glances as Rarity steps in. She started to face the faucet, but Rarity managed to tap her arm before she could.
“Could you get my back, darling?” she asked so sweetly. Applejack blinked at her, almost not believing what she just heard.
“Y’ want me t’ what?” She asked.
“Wash my back.”
“Y...y’ sure?” Rarity rolled her eyes.
“Honestly Applejack, I promise it’s nothing new,” She lathered a loofah and handed it over to her farmer friend before turning around, “And I promise I won't bite.” That last line was a little tease, Applejack was sure of it. The farmer’s cheeks went from orange, to red instantly as she desperately tried to calm herself down.
It’s nothin’ wild, she thought, just… washin’ a friend’s back. With soap. In a hot and steamy shower. Her mind ran rampant with inappropriate scenarios as she felt her cheeks grow warmer.
“Applejack?” Rarity called out. The farmer gently pressed the loofah onto her friend’s back, rubbing in light gentle circles. She heard Rarity giggled in response, leaning back into the flustered farmer’s hand to make up for the lack of pressure. Applejack continued her circles, the repetition and rhythm helping her calm down.
See, she thought, no big deal! Just gotta do this a couple times and then-

"It's kinda hard t' look at?" Applejack replied confused, "I aint one fer fashion Rare. You know that." Rarity rewrapped the fabric and put the spool back using her magic. She turned to Applejack with her hands on her hips, giving her a blank expression.
"Well, would you like to learn?"Rarity asked, raising a brow. Applejack blinked at her in response. Rarity shrugged, "I suppose if you're going to be with me here for one of the more well known fashion events to have happened in Canterlot for two weeks, you might as well learn a few things about the topic." That… is a fair point. It'd do no good for Applejack to be a part of an event with no clue on what anything means or what is actually going on. The farmer sighed, and nodded at the fashionista.

"Fashion is a bit of a complicated topic to fully understand, darling, " Rarity began, pulling down a black spool of fabric, "tastes change, and what becomes popular turns bland, what's bland becomes forgotten, and what becomes forgotten is reborn." She unraveled the white fabric with her magic, grabbing the corner and turning to the somewhat intrigued farmpony," tell me, what do you see?"Applejack shrugged.
"A white sheet," she replied flatly. Rarity furrowed her brows, before turning back to the fabric.
"Yes, it is a 'white sheet'," Rarity replied, rolling her eyes," but it's also a blank canvas!" She pulled the fabric towards Applejack excitedly, "you could dye it, or press it, or sew it into something magical!" Applejack wanted to share in her excitement, but it wasn't entirely clicking. "Or, in my case, if the fabrics blend well together," Rarity continued,"you'll create something magnificent, or, have a bountiful harvest! "Applejack raised a brow, the concept beginning to make sense to her.
"So things like, waterin' the crop, takin' out weeds, checking in on th' weather conditions," she began, looking at both of the fabrics intently, "is that like, addin' in a new fabric to the mix?" Rarity pondered the question.
"Yes...and no," she replied. Applejack looked down at her lap, a little disappointed, she thought she was getting the hang of it. She looked up when Rarity rested her hand on her shoulder, "It's a mix of things, just like toiling the land, dear. Watering the seed in the soil is like adding fabrics together. Weeding can be upkeep of the fabrics, ensuring that none of your materials get damaged along the way. Keeping your fabrics in well tempered locations can be-"
"Checkin' the weather conditions and actin' accordin'ly?" Applejack added in. Rarity beamed as she nodded.
"Yes!" She replied, " And what would happen if you follow all of these things perfectly?"Applejack smiled.
"Well, y' get the freshest and best dang crop in all of Ponyville! " She replied happily, "or, in your case-"
"You create an outfit that is absolutely stunning," Rarity added. Applejack felt like her eyes were opened to a world of possibilities. Fashion, as odd of a topic to her, finally began to make a little sense. She noticed Rarity watching her, her sapphire blue eyes filled to the brim with joy. A warm feeling spread through the larger mare, starting in her chest and working its way around. There was a calm silence between them before Applejack piped up again.
"So… if makin' somethin' from fabric is like farmin', what is fashion like?" She asked, somewhat excited to learn more. Rarity put a finger to her chin.
"Hmm…. That is still a bit complicated," she replied, "but I can break down the elements of a good outfit!" Applejack nodded, eager to learn more. Rarity moved the white spool forward, playing with the fabric,"let's say you've harvested your crop. For this, let's use apples." Applejack nodded along as she continued, "the 'apple' would be you in this instance."
"I thought th' finished thing would be th' apple?" Applejack asked, a little confused. Rarity giggled.
"In the context of making, say, a sweater, yes," she answered matter-of-factly, "but in terms of creating a good outfit, you're the apple."Applejack nodded a bit slower, still following along, " Now sure you can just go outside, being an apple and all, but you, and to an extent government regulations, want to be an apple pie." Applejack managed to keep her focus, though she snickered at the thought of an actual apple on the run from Canterlot guards for not being baked into a pie. Rarity rolled her eyes but kept a lighthearted smile, "your shirt is your pie crust, your pants being your additives for the pie filling. You know, cinnamon, nutmeg, cornstarch, sugar. And your accessories would be the top of your pie crust and your decorative cinnamon and sugar." Applejack nodded, showing that she was following along. Rarity looked so pleased to see her listening as she continued, "But that's just making apple pie, dear. You want to be the best apple pie, the one where ponies are fighting for seconds!" Applejack bit the inside of her cheek. There's a dirty joke here, but for the sake of Rarity’s joy, she'll avoid saying it.
"And how do I work on doin' that?" She asked, successfully curbing the urge to giggle. Rarity shrugged.
"It all depends on your style," she replied casually.
"Alright,"Applejack replied, somewhat flatly,"what kinda style do I got?"
"Hmm?"
"My style? What is it?"Rarity blinked in surprise at Applejack’s question. Applejack couldn’t blame her, she's surprised at her own investment as well. Rarity looked her up and down slowly, almost as if she was analyzing every bit of information given to her. Applejack’s anticipation began to show, her leg shaking against the bench they were sitting on. She flinched as Rarity snapped her fingers, finally able to answer.
"You, my dear," she began, leaving the larger mare on the edge of her seat, "are casual comfort." Applejack stared blankly, unsure what to do with the newfound result.
"Meanin'?" Applejack asked, her tone coaxing out an explanation.
"Simple," Rarity replied, "Your outfits are more for comfort and mobility. They don't necessarily stand out too much, but that isn't a bad thing. You prefer to be, for lack of a better term, a 'sight for sore eyes'."Applejack tilted her head as Rarity continued, "your presence adds to your style, you're very warm and inviting, and so you clothes, while along the lines of cooler tones, feel soft, warm, and comforting to the touch. Though, you do seem to prefer a more masculine approach to comfort clothes as opposed to feminine." Applejack seemed to struggle to understand.
"So...what does that all mean?" She managed to ask. Rarity leaned against her.
"Pie wise, you're a nice, warm, perfectly sweet and flavorful slice of apple pie during a chilly, snowy night," Rarity responded with a warm smile. Applejack felt warm and fuzzy at those words, Rarity's smile becoming infectious and worming its way onto Applejack’s own muzzle. She twiddled her thumbs as her face grew warm,enjoying the contact Rarity was giving her. A peaceful silence fell between them once more, the temptation to wrap an arm around her smaller friend hitting Applejack hard, before the whole moment was ruined by a rumbling noise. Surprisingly enough, it came from Rarity, who was more interested in staring at her lap than looking at her friend. Applejack saw the embarrassment creep onto Rarity’s face before letting out a lighthearted giggle.
"Y'wanna continue our fashion lesson over some grub?" She asked, standing up and offering her arm to the flustered fashionista.
"I know just the place," Rarity replied, taking her friend’s arm.
Sunday evenings seemed to be where Canterlot slows down, as while they were looking for a place to eat, they noticed that fewer ponies were out and about. Rarity stopped at the diner they ate at yesterday, excited about trying the dinner menu, while Applejack was just happy to grab food. The pair were seated at a booth, a very sweet, small and nervous unicorn mare handing them their menus and leaving them to talk amongst themselves. Applejack saw a burger that came with spinach, aioli, mozzarella and something called a "Canterlot Créme". She's not sure what the hay that is, but she definitely wants to try it. Or should she go with the steak? Honestly any of these menu options sound like-
"This decision is going to be the death of me!" Applejack looked up from the menu to see Rarity's eyes flitting back and forth from menu options.
"Somethin' catch yer eye?" Applejack asked, confused. Rarity’s ears went back as she glared at her menu.
"I really want to get the burger, but it'd tarnish my figure," Rarity replied, sighing," and there's an option for the Evergreen Harvest salad but I know it won't be enough for me." Applejack shrugged.
"Get th' burger then," she replied casually. Rarity seemed to wince at her words.
"But the amount of calories in the burger is so high!" Rarity exclaimed,"It would throw off my diet and I just know Trenderhoof would-" Applejack’s grip on her menu grew tight at the mention of his name. Is this how Rarity’s been thinking at every meal since she's been with him? Her brows furrowed, her ears going back in slight anger.
"Is Trenderhoof dictatin' what y' eat?" Applejack asked, her voice low but laced with anger and concern. The unicorn flinched and looked away, seemingly too ashamed to answer. Applejack’s eyes grew wide. She knew the answer was yes, but to actually have it confirmed? She let out a contemptuous snort, before setting her somewhat crumpled menu on the table. She motioned Rarity to put down her menu as well, her friend responding with a confused and anxious look. As if on cue, the nervous waitress came to their booth with her notepad.
"R-ready to order?" She asked, her voice resembling a nervous squeak.
"Yep," Applejack replied coolly, looking back at her menu to ease her temper and to get the correct name for the dish, "for th' drink, we'll take two sodas," she looked at Rarity as if to confirm, who nodded quickly in agreement, "and fer our meal, we'll take two 'Canterlot Comet' burgers."
"What?!" She heard Rarity hiss. The waitress nodded and scribbled it down. Applejack nodded towards the waitress and gave her a smile, the mare taking it as her queue to grab the menus and leave the pair to their own devices. Applejack looked back at her friend unphased, while Rarity glared back at her, wild eyed.
"Somethin' wrong, sugarcube? "Applejack asked casually. Rarity was beside herself.
"Why did you do that?!" She hissed. Applejack hardened her gaze, surprising her friend.
"You wanted th' burger," Applejack replied, her voice very stern, "but you were willin' t' starve yerself for somepony who ain't even here with ya." Rarity looked down at the table as if she were a foal being scolded by their parents. Applejack continued, glaring a bit harder, "this is supposed t' be yer break away from him, and yet, "she gestured her hands toward Rarity, who was shrinking down and twiddling her thumbs, "here you are tryin' not t' upset him, and with what y' eat no less." The farmer let out a deep sigh, before going on, her tone a bit more gentle, "Rarity, this ain't healthy or fair t' ya." Rarity blinked away a tear, her shoulders sagging.
"I know…" she replied softly, her voice quivering slightly,"it's...hard to break the habit, to be honest." Rarity kept twiddling her thumbs, seemingly afraid to look Applejack in her eye," but I-"
"Rarity, " Applejack spoke gently, cutting her off, " you ain't gonna starve yerself for nopony, especially fer somepony who don't consider yer feelin's," she grabbed Rarity’s hand,rubbing the back of her palm with her thumb, "and especially not while yer with me." Rarity finally met Applejack’s gaze, tears welling up in the corners of her eyes.
"B-but…" she sputtered. Applejack held her hand a bit tighter.
"No buts. Yer gonna eat what y' want, dress how y' want and do whatever y' want," the farmer spoke firmly, offering her friend a gentle smile, "this event is fer you. I'm just a plus one here fer th' ride, and Trenderhoof is in Manehattan doin whatever the hell he likes,"she held her gaze, but her voice remained gentle, "so why can't you?" Rarity seemed to think about Applejack’s words, looking at the table and furrowing her brows. She sat upright once more, looking back at Applejack with a new resolve.
"You're right," Rarity responded, nodding, "I shouldn't be tormenting myself like this. This… this is for me." Applejack nodded, her smile growing wider. Rarity’s eyes flitted from their interlocking hands to Applejack’s eyes, "should I… be more selfish?" Applejack shrugged.
"I think so," Applejack replied, "but that's just me. Go with yer gut, sugarcube." Again, as if on cue, the waitress returned with their orders, placing the drinks and the plates of food on the table. She saw Rarity give the burger a determined look.
"Oh, I intend to," Rarity spoke, grabbing her burger and taking the biggest bite possible.
Watching Rarity eat her burger was just the show she needed to accompany her meal. She would giggle at how comically large her cheeks were after each bite, and Rarity would snort indignantly at her as she chewed. They didn't talk too much fashion, but they did cause a lot of tension between each other. Rarity would speak excitedly about how she struggled to restitch a fabric she had little experience with, but she was still excitedly eating her burger and lots of crumbs and grease were resting on the corners of her mouth. It was the cutest thing to Applejack.
"Rare, slow down sugarcube," she'd chuckle at her. Rarity would sheepishly smile at her.
"S-sorry. I'm just so excited that you're actually taking an interest in this,"she replied. Applejack picked up a napkin and gingerly wiped the unicorn’s mouth.
"Even if i didn't get it, " she said, wiping her friend's upper lip, "I'm always down t' listen. I like listening to ya talk about things that make ya happy."Applejack was wiping Rarity’s lips with a warm smile, her thumb rubbing against her lower lip, before realizing the words that slipped through her muzzle. Her cheeks were bright red as she met Rarity’s gaze, the fashionista’s eyes were wide, her cheeks a soft pink from the farmer’s words. She gave a small smile before shyly looking away, twirling a strand of her hair, her cheeks turning redder. Applejack smiled back awkwardly, before pulling her hand away.
The pair were strolling along the sidewalk, Applejack contently listening to Rarity talk about patterned fabrics. From what she picked up, there was an electric blue fabric that had reddish brown stripes (Applejack tried to picture it, but the idea made her muzzle scrunch up.) Rarity excitedly responded to her reaction.
"Yes! The idea is absolutely horrible isn't it?" She exclaimed, a smile resting on her lips, "even thinking about it makes your mind scream in agony!" Applejack chuckled lightly as they approached an overlook with a bench.
"Probably not scream but it does flinch," she replied. She gently grabbed Rarity’s hand motioning towards the bench. Rarity looked back at her, surprised at her gesture.
"Applejack?" She spoke, confused. Applejack smiled warmly at her.
"What do y' say we grab a seat and watch th' sunset again?" She asked, before looking at the sky, noticing that the sun had already begun vanishing behind the horizon line,"or at least th' moonrise?" She looked back at Rarity, who's cheeks were completely flushed as a bright smile slowly spread across her muzzle.
"I'd love to," Rarity replied, squeezing Applejack’s hang a bit tighter as the farmer happily led them to the bench. The pair sat together, contently watching the sun disappear over the horizon. Applejack loved watching the sun set after a day in the fields or even just lounging underneath a tree. It's one of her favorite quiet moments, just to exist within the space was enough to calm her. She felt Rarity calmly lean against her upper arm, and a warmth spread through her chest. A soft sigh broke the silence between them.
"This is really nice," Rarity spoke softly. Applejack nodded and stared into the overlook.
"It sure is,"Applejack replied softly. She sighed contently as the sky transitioned from a warm bright orange to a cooler violet color, the moon creeping up along the horizon.
"Do you always look at sunsets on the farm?"Rarity asked. Applejack shrugged.
"Yeah,"Applejack replied casually,"it's my favorite pastime. Whenever I watch a sunset, or, well moonrise, it feels like th' rest of th' world melts away." Rarity looked at Applejack, a small smile on her lips as she nuzzled closer into Applejack's shoulder as the moon rose into the sky. Applejack moved her arm, Rarity sitting up in surprise, and gingerly wrapped her arm around the smaller mare’s waist. Rarity gasped softly, looking at Applejack, her cheeks flushed. Applejack looked back at her, a peaceful smile on her face and her eyes half-lidded, filled to the brim with warmth and care. Rarity gave her a small smile and nuzzled closer, before turning their gazes back to the moonrise.
The rest of their evening was somewhat uneventful. The pair showered together once again (Applejack awkwardly looking away once again as Rarity giggled and teased her for it), dressing up in their nightly wear, Applejack in a black tank top and short black fitting shorts and Rarity in a lacy violet negligee, and laid down together, Rarity resting her head on Applejack’s chest. Applejack ran her fingers through the purple strands of hair, staring up at the ceiling as they both tried to fall asleep.
"Y'all really like t' cuddle huh?" Applejack spoke softly. She felt Rarity nod.
"Mhm," she heard Rarity reply, "something about it is...comforting to me." Applejack let out a snort.
"Aside from snugglin' up under somepony?" She retorted. Rarity gave a soft chuckle.
"That is a fair point, " the unicorn replied. She felt Rarity’s fingertips dance along her abdomen as she spoke, her voice growing softer, " for me, at least, i think it's...more to it than just that alone."Applejack flicked an ear.
"Wanna elaborate? " she asked, her voice matching her friend’s, "'course...y' don't have to if y' don't wanna." The farmer felt a gentle pat on her abdomen.
"It's alright darling, " Rarity answered, " it's just… the act of cuddling is the closest one could get to being vulnerable with someone. Well, without stripping bare. It's relinquishing your barriers into the arms of somepony else who, in a proverbial sense, you trust with your innermost self." Applejack was listening quietly to Rarity’s words, wrapping her arm around the smaller mare’s waist. She heard Rarity taking a deep breath before continuing," cuddling with somepony makes you feel as though...somepony cares about you, enough to protect your true self with their own... I suppose I… have been struggling with feeling like that." Applejack hoped she hadn't noticed, but her breath hitched at Rarity's confession. There was a brief pause, before Rarity continued, "I know...I have friends who genuinely care for me… and I know I have family who care for me, at least, in Sweetie Belle. But… I often feel that...I'm not worthy of romantic love. It's a silly notion but… after Lord Blueblood and… Trenderhoof… I guess I...started to believe it. To fill the void I try to pour it into my career, my ambitions. But it leaves me feeling somewhat empty." Applejack felt somber. She stared at the ceiling, at a loss for words but wanting to comfort her friend. Rarity nuzzled closer, her voice quieter than before, "I know it's not important… but...I wish I could have somepony who... would care for me… at least in that regard. Where I don't have to change who I am, or how I look. Just… being me… somepony who would want to hold me, as if I can let down my walls and not have to worry because… I feel- huh?" Applejack cut her off by turning her front side to face Rarity, pulling her closer to her chest by wrapping her arms around the smaller mare’s back. She felt Rarity look up at her, confused and a bit misty eyed. Applejack met her gaze, hoping that the gesture was enough to tell Rarity what she couldn’t put into words. They stared at each other, Applejack feeling Rarity wrapping her arm along the farmer’s back. She nestled her head into Applejack’s chest, hugging her tighter, and Applejack managed to smile.
I'll be here for ya, she thought, holding Rarity closer. She felt puffs of air against her chest as she ran her fingers through Rarity’s hair again, Even if it's just fer two weeks. It's gonna be the best damn two weeks. I'm gonna make sure of it, I promise

Butterflies and Blurred Lines
Applejack kept her eyes closed, but was awake due to faint chirping and soft, muffled noises coming from under her chin. She figured it was just Rarity doing her sleep mutterings. It wasn't until she felt Rarity’s grip tighten against her back and felt her breathing get heavier against her chest that she began to ask a few questions. She leaned closer to the smaller mare to hear what she was saying, only for her to recoil as her face went red. She's never been in this situation before, much less with her friend.
"Rarity? " Applejack whispered as she gently shook the smaller mare’s hip. A groan came from the unicorn’s muzzle. Applejack shook her a bit more aggressively, her heart thumping as she hissed at her sleeping friend, "Rarity!"
"Wha- huh?" Rarity sputtered awake, her cheeks somewhat flushed from what Applejack could only assume was a dream that can leave you with sticky thighs and a mess you hope family won't ask about. Rarity looked at Applejack's red face, her cheeks turning just as red as the larger mare's. She broke the awkward staring match by looking down at their legs as an uncomfortable quiet fell between them.
"So…" Applejack spoke, breaking the awkward silence,"..didja have a good dream?" Rarity cleared her throat.
"Y..yes… yes i uh…. Yes I did," the flustered unicorn managed to reply. Applejack slowly nodded, looking at the pillows, falling into another silence. In any other situation, the topic would be dropped, the pair would bathe, and try to successfully never bring the topic up in conversation ever again, even under the heavy influence of alcohol. However, that only applies if they hadn't already crossed such a boundary between each other. Applejack tried hard not to think about the question, her heart thumping harder, an even smaller heartbeat beginning to form between her thighs. “Rare… why did ya bring me on this trip?” It was enough to snap Rarity awake, her eyes going wide at the question. Rarity looked down at the blankets beneath her, before looking back at the farmer once more.
“Well… because you needed a vacation,” She replied. Applejack pursed her lips.
No lie there, Applejack thought, Still, that don’t feel like the whole truth.
“I feel like there’s somethin’ ya ain’t tellin’ me, Sugarcube” Applejack said, Rarity blushing a light pink and looking away.
“What um….” the fashionista struggled,”What gave you that notion?” Applejack shrugged.
“Well, it may be b’cause of how things have been goin’,” Applejack rubbed her arm as she replied. She watched as Rarity twiddled her fingers.

“Rare,” she spoke gently,”What was rule number three?” The unicorn’s gaze dropped as the farmer’s question hit her.
“Complete and total transparency…” she replied softly. Applejack nodded.
“Talk to me, Sugarcube,” she spoke softly as she lifted Rarity’s chin,” Why’d ya want me t’ come along?” Rarity chewed her lip, before taking a deep breath.
“Well,” Rarity began, ”it is a vacation for you, honest. But…” The unicorn’s cheeks went a deeper shade of red as she tried to explain,” As the date got closer and closer I… I’ve been thinking about how we don’t really spend much time together outside of our nightly visits, or a well planned picnic on our lunch breaks.” Applejack nodded in understanding. Rarity chewed her lip again before continuing. "I wanted to spend more time with you, and… well… um…"
"'And'?" Applejack asked, confused. What's got Rarity so dang tongue tied? She watched as Rarity’s face grew redder and redder. The unicorn sighed in frustration and looked away.

But with you I-" the fashionista stopped her sentence short as they locked eyes again. Applejack raised a brow as Rarity’s mouth was barely opened, her eyes flitted from Applejack’s own to the farmer’s...lips? Applejack blushed lightly.
"Rare?" She spoke softly. She felt the smaller mare’s hand lightly caress her cheek. Applejack’s breath hitched, her cheeks turning from a soft pink, to a darker shade of red.
"I… "Rarity managed to get out before looking down again, her hand sliding down from Applejack’s cheek, to the hem of her friend’s shirt, "I wanted you and I to… um…"
"Yeah? " Applejack replied, trying to coax it out of her. Rarity took a deep breath.
"I wanted us… to be intimate…" she finally returned Applejack’s gaze, her cheeks a bright red, "with each other. "The farmer blinked in disbelief. Then, it finally clicked. "It would've been somethin' ,"Applejack shot back,"What were you gonna keep up with yer antics until i caught on?"
"Possibly, although at this rate I was convinced that you wouldn't get the hint unless I lay nude on the mattress with blaring signs," Rarity responded as snarky as possibly could. There was a bit of a silence between them. Applejack tried to stay angry, but the mental picture of blinking lights pointing at Rarity with the words being a very fancy version of 'fuck me!' blaring loud and clear got to her. It managed to get a small chuckle from Applejack, easing the tension a bit and confusing her friend.
"Well, it'd be a hell of a lot better than th' mess you've been puttin' me through," Applejack replied, giggling.

“A waffle bar?” she replied flatly.
“Well, yeah!” Applejack replied defensively.
“You’ve been talking to Pinkie again, haven’t you?”
“Look, sure her ideas ain’t always th’ greatest, but a waffle bar is a solid one,” the farmer replied plainly. Rarity rolled her eyes and spoke into the phone, attempting to place an order for the waffle bar. To their surprise, there was such a thing and it was one of their more popular requests. Rarity then thanked the pony on the other line and hung up, walking to sit beside Applejack, who leaned back and locked her phone. She looked up at her friend, who was looking down at the carpet, ears back and cheeks redder than normal.
“I suppose…” Rarity began,”You have some questions.” Applejack shrugged again.
“A few, admittedly,” She noticed Rarity looking at her from the corner of her eye,”The first one…”
“Yes?” Rarity replied, slightly turning her head towards the larger mare, who sat upright once more.
“...When’s th’ waffle bar comin’ in?” Applejack asked, earning a swat on her thigh and a pouty lip from the fashionista, making earthpony chuckle,” Hey, if I had to deal with yer nonsense, you're gonna have t' deal with mine." She was anticipating the next question, the farmer assumed.
"So," Applejack started, rubbing the back of her neck, "how long have y' felt like this? Th' whole 'bangin' away from home' thing?" Rarity’s flitted from Applejack to her lap, as if trying to find the right words to answer.

“I...I don’t think you need me to… explain that darling, haha,” She sputtered. The larger mare casually leaned back on her elbow, using her spare hand to cup Rarity’s cheek, turning her head to face her, leaning just a bit closer so their muzzles were inches apart.
“No, I think y’ do,” Applejack replied, her voice low, the feeling that came earlier rushed back in full force. Rarity’s eyes went wide, her cheeks turning into a deeper shade of red, the farmer smirking in response. She looked at Rarity’s lips, before meeting her gaze again, “What did ya mean by ‘explore’ sugarcube?” Rarity awkwardly cleared her throat, seemingly too flustered to speak.
“I… uh… touched… myself so to speak,” Rarity said her voice barely above a whisper. Applejack flicked her ear in response.
"How?" Applejack asked, matching Rarity's volume. The unicorn’s eartips turned a bright shade of red, her cheeks burning in Applejack’s palm.
"I-I…" Rarity stuttered struggling to answer. Applejack ran her thumb against the smaller mare’s lip, the idea of kissing her friend sending a tingle straight to her groin.
