It was late, and a pegasus was trotting home through dense fog and it was very humid. Silver Lining was almost home when she paused and thought she heard a sound, looking down an alley on her right she heard it again. Gingerly walking toward the sound she paused immediately to her left she heard something shuffle and snapping her head toward the sound and looking down she found a small dragon in a soggy cardboard box with a note. The note read, "I am named Prism Bolt, if you find me then you know my parents had to leave me here for my safety. Take me home as your own, your my onyl hope". Puzzled she took the dragon home and bathed it, her roommate was off her hinges.

"You can't afford to raise it! You barely survive as it is, but the parents' note is clear but I ain't helping..........I'm out!" with that the roommate teleported her stuff and herself to some new location. Silver Lining sat alone bottle feeding the little thing and contemplating on how she was gonna juggle working and taking care of and nourishing the dragon. She and her folks were on bad terms and she didn't know who to ask to babysit for for a skimpy fee. Then she remembered the elderly couple across the way and when asked they were going to do it for free.

The next day totally exausted she came home and as much as she wanted sleep she took time to play with the dragon. As time wore on her boss asked why she was so tired all the time. Afraid that her job was on the line she told him that she was raising an orphaned dragon and was under a ton of stress. Her boss being the understanding type decided to increase her pay and reduce the hours she was working so she could rest and be there for her kid. When she enrolled Prism in school the other families on orientation day were jdudgingher harshly, but some of the parents who had seen Silver Lining knew her from where she worked because she had oft times been their waiter applauded her for doing her best once they learned her story. Life was hard and she sometimes wept at night worrying about rent or now medical bills for Prism when it came to his vaccines. Word spread around and every-creature helped where they could. Prism Bolt as he got older asked about his birth parents. She would tell him that she had no idea who they were and showed him the note.

Prism loved his mother, no matter how tired she was she made it a point to do things with him and show up at his sporting events and recitals. He wished there was something for her thst he could do. He also noticed that his mom met other men but as soo a sthey learned about him they only lasted one date. He often asked if it were better if weren't in the picture and all he got was a emphatic, "No! I swore to raise you myself and you're the most important thing in my life."

Every Mother's Day Prism would carve the most elegant and beautiful items and also he learned how to make jewelry and how to cook as he got older. He wanted to take his education and skills as far as he could to make his mother proud and she would often tell him thst she was proud of him when he called her mom as his first word.

Prism's teen years he spent having multiple crushes and his mom helped work through a few heartbreaks but the one crush he never told her was the crush he had for her.

For they past thirteen years proved to be most taxing Silver Lining knew she butnoff more than she can chew, Prism now fourteen caused her a ton of grief with a rebellious stage that he was in. Hoping it would end soo would be a nice reprieve.

Prism is a good kid really! He just developed a bad attitude and got rebellious is all. All teens do don't they? Fuck I was a real bitch in my teen years and to my horror and embarrassment I was a bit of a slut in high school. Raising him alone had been a challenge to say the least. But I can handle this...............I got to! No pony else will besides I can't let go of the reigns.

Mother tries so hard to teach me what I need to know, I can't just do what I wanna do, I got to behave better! She hadn't given up on me yet, even though I caused her so much grief.

Mother's Day someday Prism will give her what she needs, he noticed that a lot of the dudes she dated haven't filled any of her needs - maybe he could one day? Out of the moms he observed all had husbands to help share the load, his mother had no pony else. The one time he met his grandparents all hell broke loose and there was a huge fight about his mother raising him. Hopefully some day they'll accept him.

He had a soccer game and as the game began his teammates teased him because his mom was lnt there in the bleachers. The game was 0 - 12 and his team had no hope to catch up. He was dribbling the ball down the field and from the crowd a voice rang out, "Run Prism! Half way there!" looking up he saw his mom made it looking exausted but she came anyways and was cheering him on. With fresh energy he sped the ball down the field. When the game ended and even had to go into over time, his team won 115 - 100. He remembered that game for years and he learned that no matter what a parent can affect the direction of a kid's morale.
