“Flurry…”
“I just can’t find the movie, Mom. The young alicorn could hardly contain herself, biting her tongue a little more to keep the chuckles in. She could feel her mom’s eyes watching over her, inspecting more than just movies on the shelves.
“Mom?” she said as neutrally as she could, but there wasn’t even a peep coming from her mother sitting on the couch. It only made the smirk on her face grow wider and wider until she called out louder. “Mom?”
As soon as Flurry looked back, it was almost as if her mother had been zapped by lightning with the way she practically jumped from her seat. “Y-yes! I um… y-yes?”
“I guess I didn’t find the movie after all.”
“It’s uh… on the top shelf there…” Cadance said with a subtle point of her hoof as she glanced away.
Flurry gave a few flaps of her wings to get up high enough, and dramatically inspected the film in her hooves. “Huh… well I guess this is where it was hiding all along. Silly me.” Gracefully she landed back down and loaded the magical cartridge onto the crystal display. The screen came to life and the start of the movie started to play; one of the classic adventure films, braving the winters far north of the Crystal Empire. The premise alone would have been enough to bring a chill, but Flurry had plans to stave that off entirely.
With a strategic tumble, she crashed onto the fluffy couch with a whomp, rolling over until her Mom became her new pillow. She wiggled in closer, getting right under Mom’s wing and laying her head down on her shoulder.
It was perfect.

All of that, and the subtle heartbeat that she could hear with her ear pressed onto Mom’s shoulder were making today that much more special, and tonight even more anticipated.
Flurry glanced up, only to see her mother peering down at her with a cocked eyebrow. “Comfortable?”
“Mmhmm.”
Cadance shook her head and shifted around to get as comfortable as she could be with her not-so-little-filly on top of her. However, she couldn’t help but gulp a little as the movie started to play.
It was the best seat in the house and Flurry took full advantage of it; tucking her Mom’s wing around her like the warm blanket it was. Staying wrapped up like this for only a movie never seemed enough; only relaxing here for all of eternity might have been adequate.
Focusing on the film was getting harder to do the longer she laid there, to the point where she wouldn’t have even known what was happening if they hadn’t watched this a few times in the past. “Mmmm…” Flurry purred aloud as she rolled her cheek against her mother’s soft fur.
“You’re being quite affectionate tonight,” Cadance finally said after some time.
“Mmmhmm… I just want to show my appreciation for the dinner you cooked today.”
“Um, yes, the dinner that the cooks made was good… I didn’t really help at all, but thank you anyways.”
“Well do you know what’s for dessert?” Flurry said with a small smile as she looked back up and fluttered her eyes.
“Heh, no dessert tonight. It’s already late and everypony is probably sleeping by now.”
“Aww,” Flurry said with an almost feign disappointment. “I guess we’ll just have to make due then.” She slowly started to sit back up on the couch, staring at her Mom with a sly smile. “In fact, I have a late night snack idea that I think both of us will enjoy. Wouldn’t you agree?”
“W-what do you mean?” Cadance stammered a little, glancing back and forth between the screen and her daughter with a soft redness growing along her cheeks.
Flurry leaned over a little, watching as her mother squirmed around on the couch slightly. “I’m thinking that you have something in mind too, and you have just never told me. And I might even be interested if you let me know.”
Cadance’s face was almost crimson, and her mouth hung agape, like she was trying to think of how she could possibly ever respond to that. “I… I can’t Flurry…”
Flurry couldn’t help but practically bounce where she sat as she heard those words; confirming that both of them were very much on the same page. The thought alone sent her heart aflutter with eager anticipation and a truly bright smile lit up her face. It wasn’t the reaction Cadance was expecting at all.
“F-Flurry, you can’t be serious!” Cadance blurted out, only to get a few giggles from her daughter. “We could never do something like that! And I would never think of you in that way!”
“Oh, Mom,” Flurry chuckled as little as she could, still trying to hold a straight face like she just didn’t hear a great one liner. “I’ve seen the way you look at me… walking up the stairs… flying together…”
“That’s just by accident, I-“
“…in the shower.”
Cadance went silent and bit her lip.
“I’ve seen your hoof come up from the dinner table wetter than it should have been on more than one occasion… and not even recently either; a few times before I even got my cutie mark.”
“Ok…” Cadance said with a huff. For one of the most important ponies in the land, she certainly was seeming quite small. “Maybe that happened a few times… but it’s not like I acted on it! That would have been wrong!”
“Would it?” Flurry said as she leaned in closer, enough that she had to put her hooves down on her mother’s side. “I think that it would have been just fine. Wonderful even. Something both of us would’ve had fun with… and still can.”
“You’re still too young!” Cadance shook her head and closed her eyes as Flurry crept up further. “You know what ponies would do if someone knew we did this?!”
“Then we won’t tell them,” Flurry said as their manes touched. “Besides, my birthday’s only like a week away, and then it won’t matter anyways. But… it’s your day today… mommy.” The last word whispered into her mother’s ear sent a shiver down the mare’s spine.
Cadance let out a long, shaky breath, before slowly opening her eyes to see her daughter close enough that their muzzles almost were touching. She bit her lip as she looked over Flurry’s features, before getting caught up on the sight of her lips. “Celestia, help me.”
“There’s no sun here tonight,” Flurry simply said as they both moved closer, touching muzzles, and soon pressing their lips together in a loving embrace. Mom did have hints of her clear passion fruit lipstick still sticking around, and it was as delicious as it could have ever been. Flurry leaned forward a little more and laid down entirely on her mother.
“Mmmm~” they both let out every so often as it went on much longer than one simple peck. Their hooves became wrapped up in each other and Cadance started to roll over until Flurry was laying right on her chest.

The clock shifted and it was midnight.

For a second time of the night Cadance looked dumbfounded with her mouth hanging open. “I… wha… huh…” she stammered before something in her head clicked. “Was this your idea of a present!?”
“Mmhhmm!” Flurry said, nodding profusely. “I hope you like it.”
Cadance blushed even more, pausing for a few moments before finally nodding with a soft smile on her face. “I… I love it… and you’re right… I do wish that we would have done this before.”
Words weren’t needed to be spoken as their lips reunited once more, kissing each other like a pair of high school sweethearts. But it didn’t stop there as Flurry pressed her hips down and another pair of lips met for the first time tonight.

“We still have a long night ahead of us. It is Mother’s Day after all.”
