Arizona considered herself an unstoppable force in the face of any challenge that dared to stand before her. The small brown and white cow had been picked by her tribe as their finest warrior… Well, that wasn’t true. But she was certainly the strongest and bravest of their warriors, and she was not going to let anything stop her from getting the key she needed to save the world.

At the moment, she was trudging her way through a frozen wasteland. She came from an area where the sun was always beating down from above and the cold really wasn’t her thing. She could barely feel her hooves as she trudged her way through the snow, the only protection she had being a bright red bandanna that she held as sacred.
The creature that she was currently hoping to beat was a reindeer called Velvet. All she had was a name and a species. She used ice magic, which Arizona hated, in fact she hated everything about the current situation. At least if she was too warm she could try and do things to cool off, there was just no warming herself up against this kind of cold, it was insidious and seemed to bite down to her very core and refuse to let go.
She didn’t let it get to her however, nothing could stop her unwavering faith in herself and in her cause. Whenever things seemed helpless, or whenever things seemed too hard, she just thought back to all the people back home that were depending upon her.
It filled her with a fiery determination that was stronger then any cold, although frost bite might still be an issue so she wanted to get out of the cold before her hooves froze off. She needed those for kicking and stomping.
The bovine had been given the location of the deer by a near-by village that had tried desperately to dissuade her from the course of action. She wasn’t one to be easily dissuaded however, and even that had not been enough to stop her.
From above, a light flurry of snow was starting up, but ahead she had already found the place where the deer resided. Even through the snow, she made out the building without a shadow of a doubt.
It was a towering and terrible thing, a castle, no, a fortress, a fortress that had been made out of the very snow and ice itself. It was one of the most beautiful things that Arizona had ever seen, even if she didn’t have the greatest concept of what beauty was.
There were elegant, monumental towers, statues, everything that only the finest castles had, and then more on top, and all of it was carved out of the ice.
Arizona felt a lump form in her throat. She certainly got the feeling that she was well out of her league with trying to face this reindeer, but she wouldn’t let it stop her.
It took little more then a moment for her to steel herself before returning to marching forward with renewed energy, her hooves giving a soft crunch as her bright green eyes narrowed, her teeth biting down to try and deal with the pain that the bitter cold bought to her body.
The fortress wasn’t defended in the slightest, and it soon became clear that it wasn’t as grand as she had thought from a distance. It was like a chocolate mould, on the outside it looked fancy, but on the inside it was hollow and devoid of features.
She marched forward into the fortress without the slightest hint of fear. On all sides, great alls towered high above her, and she got the feeling that there were hundreds of eyes watching her.
The floor was made out of ice, which was extremely slippery for her to walk on, and certainly was a health hazard. Maybe if she just reported this place to a fire inspector, she would not have to fight after all.
If only things were that simple. Unfortunately, she got the feeling that this reindeer wasn’t going to give up the key peacefully.
Even if she was an exceptionally powerful spell caster, nobody could focus after getting kicked in the head. The doors to the castle were already open, and beyond the castle seemed to stretch on forever.

Well, what Arizona could only assume were the other champions that had been sent to try and claim the key from the reindeer. They were all frozen in huge blocks of ice, expressions of shock or fear locked onto their face.
There was a unicorn, a sheep and what appeared to be a lizard of some kind. Arizona felt horror rip through her as she looked towards Velvet, who seemed to spot her, giving a soft laugh as she stood up from the chair she was sat upon, which, like the rest of the castle, was carved from ice.
"Are you another champion come to challang me?""She asked, dipping into some unknown language for the final part.
Arizona scraped her hoof against the grand, taking barely a moment to steel herself "You bet your sweet mule I am! You’re in for a hiney whooping!"

Arizona kept the pace up, trying her best not to slip up on the ice, which was much harder then she would have been happy to admit.
The reindeer didn’t seem threatened in the slightest, too busy giving a dismissive smile as the cow bared down upon her.
She saw something, the ice shifting just ahead of her, and she managed to skid out of the way as a giant fist suddenly bust forth from out of the ice, almost smacking her square in the chest and sending her flying.
Of course, she couldn’t stop herself, and ended up sliding towards her foe while facing the wrong direction. It did not matter however, she took out her lasso, throwing the rope towards the reindeer, attempting to grab her and pull her over so that she could close in and kick her in the face.
The reindeer stared at her with an even more dismissive smile, not dodging so much as calmly stepping to the side, leaving it to smack harmlessly into the ice.
icicle!" The reindeer yelled, an icicle forming up out of thin air, before being launched towards her. Arizona ducked under it and kept moving towards the reindeer.

The reindeer marched calmly around her, and the cow couldn’t rotate her head fully around to keep the deer in her vision. It proved impossible and the deer soon rotated around her.
“You’re the last champion I have to face. So far I have beaten every single one of them without issue. I don’t do it to be mean. All those champions can go back to their lives once I unfreeze them when this mess is over… It’s just that I’m the best. There can only be one champion at the top, and I don’t want any of the others getting in my way.”
She leaned forward slowly, her head next to Arizona so that she could practically feel her breath.
“You’re strong however. The others, they all had their flaws, but besides not seeming like the brightest, you almost managed to pose a challenge to me!”
Arizona hissed, “I can beat you! You just caught me off guard is all!”
Velvet laughed softly “Well, you see, that’s the thing. We can’t have the champion being caught off guard and failing to protect the key! No no, that wouldn’t do at all!”
