Since the first ponies to walk the world told their ancient stories, it has become common knowledge that the spirits of Darkness and Light, Night and Day, were manifested into two alicorn sisters.

The Spirits were natural opposites, and would occasionally wage war between each other in the realm beyond ours, but these battles rarely interfered with our world, or the lives of the sisters which held the spirits. The sisters ruled the land of Equestria for thousands of moons in perfect harmony, until eventually the quarreling spirits interacted with the souls of the sisters, awakening a primal form in each which was directly fueled by the spirits of Darkness and Light. This primal force would take over the minds of the sisters, transforming them into ultimate beings with the sole goal of destroying the other. While such a metamorphosis never simultaneously affected both sisters, the Spirit of Darkness has unleashed its primal form in the past in the form of Nightmare Moon, while it's counterpart, Daybreaker, was only ever awakened in the Realm of Dreams. The quarreling spirits could only be settled down by a third spirit of complete purity and harmony, but there is inconclusive evidence that such a spirit has ever manifested into an equine form.

It has been theorized by researchers from all over that a force greater than the Elements of Harmony must be used to calm the Spirits of Darkness and Light, should they ever bring their war to the living world, but the greatest minds today cannot agree what powerful force this could be. Some point to the Elements themselves, and that records might be incorrect on who, or what actually created them and the tree from which they were born. Though that evidence may have been lost forever with the destruction of the Elements. Top priority among historical researchers and archaeologists all over Equestria is to find out more about Harmony as a spirit along side that of Darkness and Light. More research to come, hopefully very soon.

I decided to start this story that mixes darkness and pure evil with a fresh take on the history of Equestria with a clean note entry. There is nothing of particular vulgarity here, this is only to set the story up. The fun begins in chapter one. I hope you enjoy!
