Friendship and Giant Worms
Prologue
Load Full StoryNext Chapter"The night shall last forever!" Proclaimed Nightmare Moon.
The moon raised in the sky and eclipsed the sun.
"Please sister, come to your senses, we can still fix this." Princess Celestia tried to reason.
"Fix this?" She scoffed, "After what you put me through? No chance, dear sister, this ends now." Nightmare Moon shot back.
"You stand no chance to defeat me, you know that!" Princess Celestia yelled out.
"You think I did not come prepared? I thought you knew me better, sister," Nightmare Moon shouted back, before pulling out a strange tablet.
She held it up, and then it started shining. A small light coalesced just above it, while several yellow crystals floated below, spinning around as the whole ensemble seemingly gained power.
"Come forth! Sentinels of the Sun's Bane!" Nightmare Moon shouted, then began cackling wildly.
The light diverged into three parts, each accompanied by several of the yellow crystals.
The first light moved towards the ground, where large cracks burst forth and started glowing a hateful orange. Spires of ashen stone then rose out of them, dripping with lava. Black smoke began to gather as tatters of purple cloth emanated out of the cracks, coalescing into a shifting form.
The second light moved towards the castle walls, where several stained glass windows shattered. The shards were gripped in some unknown force, and quickly melted and brought together into a large circular glass pane. Several nearby armor stands were then ripped apart as the metal was shaped and morphed into a housing for the glass, crude wings of shadow held the thing aloft as a black void began to fill the space behind the glass.
The final light moved through a hole in the castle's ceiling, and continued up into the sky. There, dark storm clouds began to gather, and lighting began striking faster and faster. Through each flash, a long, serpentine form was visible flying through the air as rain began to fall.
Nightmare Moon continued to laugh as the three sentinels took form, while Princess Celestia's gaze hardened.
"I hope you know I come prepared as well sister, these tricks of yours will get you nowhere." She spoke.
Her horn flashed brightly, and all three sentinels focused on it, before any were able to act however, the ground trembled.
The floor ruptured as large roots grew rapidly, bringing up chunks of stone which were then overloaded with solar energy, turning a brownish color with several pulsing veins of energy visible in between the cracks.
Three more figures began to take form, the first coming together with deadly spikes jutting out of its form, the most prominent one clearly infused with energy. The second formed with a solid wall of solar stone, the roots and rock packing together so tightly that they were nearly impenetrable. The third grew several iridescent crystals, each with a hint of purple, a small bead of energy coming together above it.
Bright, orange fire ignited atop all three of the guardians, forming balls that looked like eyes. They all disconnected from the ground and quickly began to circle Princess Celestia in a tight formation.
Nightmare Moon scowled, "ATTACK!" She bellowed, lighting up her horn.
Princess Celestia didn't say anything, but lit her own horn as well.
Both sides charged, with the purple clothed entity quickly teleporting behind Princess Celestia and attempted to slash at her. The attack was quickly intercepted by the stone guardian however, and the spiked guardian then turned and dashed towards the clothed sentinel. Though it was able to teleport away in time to dodge the attack.
With the battle now started, the void seeped out of the glass pane, forming several balls of dark energy, which quickly began to home in on Princess Celestia. She deftly pierced them all with a laser from her horn, which then continued until it hit the void. Though it didn't take much damage.
The clothed sentinel shifted around, and its glowing purple eyes moved to another position in the cloth as tentacles forced their way through several openings. Large scythes formed at the end of each tentacle, which were subsequently flung towards Princess Celestia in an inaccurate fashion. Several impacted the guardians instead, the crystal one taking the brunt of the damage.
The spiked guardian then charged at the void, its large spike hitting it directly, causing a large crack to form in the glass. The void retreated, summoning several more dark energy balls to protect itself. The stone guardian then launched itself towards the clothed sentinel, bashing into it, but not doing much overall.
The crystal guardian then rose up higher in the room and flashed a bright white, and the cracks and damage on all the guardians began to slowly regenerate. Though before it could finish, the stone ceiling above was destroyed as the worm in the sky broke through. Several bolts of lightning followed, striking the guardians and the ground around them.
The crystal guardian didn't have time to react as the sky worm lunged forward and collided with it, gripping it with its large mandibles. The worm then rushed back up into the air, breaking through the stone ceiling once again using the guardian, which began to crumble from the damage.
The clothed entity shifted once more, a large maw appeared in one of the openings, dripping with glowing purple energy. It quickly turned and charged at the stone guardian, biting and tearing at its armor. It was stopped however, as a bolt of white magic from Princess Celestia impacted its side, leaving a mark but not piercing the fabric, though it still let go and retreated.
Nightmare Moon then took a moment to survey the battle, and decided to shoot a beam straight toward Princess Celestia, it grazed her side, causing her to drop and land hard on the ground. Nightmare Moon then charged right for her, just managing to evade the other two guardians. Princess Celestia was quick to get up however, and took flight again, flying through the new hole in the ceiling, firing bolts back towards Nightmare Moon as she gave chase.
The void's dark energy balls surrounded the spiked guardian, which flew up and dashed back down, leaving floating spheres of blazing light, they then exploded, destroying most of the dark energy. Gathering energy once more, the void then fired out a large blast of energy, which began to slowly trail the guardian while dispersing several volleys of lasers itself.
Breaking through the ceiling once again, the crystal guardian still in its maw, the sky worm sent more bolts of lightning striking down around the area. It then proceeded to slam the guardian into the stone floor, shattering its crystals and destroying it completely. Arcing back up into the sky, the worm then disappeared back into the storm.
The remaining guardians redoubled their efforts following the destruction of their bretheren. Slashing through the rest of the dark energy and continuing at the void, the spiked guardian managed to strike it once again, and the crack grew even more pronounced. Shadows began to seep out of it, warping the light around them.
The stone guardian slammed into the clothed sentinel again, causing it to shift and teleport away. Then it shifted once more and began firing scythes in quick succession at the stone guardian, doing even more damage to its armor. The attack went ignored, as the void was now the closer threat, so the stone guardian charged at it instead.
It couldn't dodge out of the way in time, and was smashed by the stone guardian. Its glass pane shattered, and reality seemed to shift for a moment. The immediate area appeared to collapse in on itself, sucking in the stone guardian with it. In a flash of darkness, the only things that remained were fragments of stone, roots, and the now empty housing.
The clothed sentinel shifted again, and charged at the spiked guardian, which also charged. They collided together, the clothed sentinel being impaled by the guardian's spike, as it, in turn, bit down hard onto the guardian. A large chunk of root and stone fell off of the guardian as the sentinel finally dissolved, its cloth fragments flowing back into the cracks from which they came, the orange glow fading a moment later.
Nightmare Moon and Princess Celestia then flew back into the battle, with bolts and beams of magic flying about. Chasing them was the sky worm, though it was impossible to tell just who it was aiming for. Unable to keep up with the main assailant, the spiked guardian charged at the worm instead, just managing to strike its tail end.
A chain reaction occurred, and several plates of armor either shattered or fell off the worm, but not all of them. Its attention was then turned on the guardian, the worm turned and dashed, a volley of lightning bolts following in its wake. Several hit, and the worm then grabbed the guardian in its mouth and began to thrash around violently, causing chunks of roots and stone to fly everywhere as it was torn apart.
Then for a few moments it was calm, the battle was over. Seeing that its fellow sentinels were downed, the worm quickly flew around and attempted to consume any remaining essence that was left from them, but there was hardly a morsel left. It shuddered for a bit, and began looking around, with the guardians taken care of the only thing that was left was Providence.
The worm paused for a moment, seemingly in thought, which definitely wasn't normal. It was under orders to hunt down and destroy Providence, not this pony that had appeared before them. And who was the pony that had summoned them? Why did it know they were ponies? There were too many strange things going on around it.
Suddenly, a large beam of rainbow light arced through the sky, and impacted the ground a moment later. Sensing the rest of the fight was now over, the worm did something it had never done before in its lifetime. It disobeyed orders.
Flying off into the stormfront, the worm noticed the strange arrangement of craters appearing on the moon as it moved back out of the way of the sun.
Princess Celestia returned to the battlefield, looking worse for wear, she took a moment to inspect it, revealing the husk of the void, some small tatters of purple cloth that lingered, the crumbling remains of the guardians, along with some metal plating littering the floor. There was no sign of the worm however, and that made her worried.

Author's Note
Sorry to say that this story will be on Hiatus until further notice, I am not going to take on the monumental task of trying to write two different stories at once. Just know that I will continue this one day, or not, depending on if I'm allowed to continue writing it, as I really don't know if Fabsol wants me to use their content. In the meantime, why don't you check out my other story? I'm actually writing it right now, and has more than 20 chapters done already.
