A Changeling's Legacy: Epilogue ((NSFW: clopfic))
Alternate Ending
Previous ChapterHe kissed her again deeply, saying, "I love you, Fleur de Lis."
"And I love you, Echo." She replied, returning the kiss. Echo's thrusts slowed down gradually, until he came to a complete stop, pulling out of her. She climbed into the bed and he soon followed, wrapping his hooves around her and kissing her again, gradually falling asleep. Fleur was also starting to feel drowsy, so they both closed their eyes and slowly drifted of to sleep in each other's arms, dreaming sweet dreams of each other.

In the plaza of Canterlot, Echo sat alone in the rain, thunder cracking and lightning shining upon his dismal face. As he looked in the puddle of water below him, he saw a reflection of himself, warped by the rain pouring down on it. He simply sat there looking down at his reflection, the reflection of a black pony colt with a green mane. Through the distortion, however, he could see his true self. There was no return of Chrysalis. There were no Ultimelements. There was no Fleur. At least, not for him. He sat alone in the storm, imagining this life in Canterlot where he had a purpose, where he lived happily ever after, where he was loved. But that was silly, unrealistic.
He was no hero, and he thought that no pony as beautiful and prefect as Fleur would love a disgusting changeling like him. There were no tears of joy. Only tears of sadness. In the end, he knew he could never truly fit in with ponies. Even if nopony discovered he was a changeling, he was just too different, too scared of the consequences to try. Loneliness. That was all there was for Echo the changeling.
As tears and rain rolled down his face, Echo only thought one thing. "All I have to do.... is say 'Hello'. And I can't even do that."
