//-------------------------------------------------------// The Moons Little Star -by Alylava- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Prologue: Origins //-------------------------------------------------------// Prologue: Origins Prologue: It was around midnight. The mare of the moon, Nightmare moon, had been banished to the moon for no less than 1000 years. The fight between the two royal sisters lasted quite a while. No one could tell how long it really went on for. A few guards witnessed the ongoing battle. Some being solar guards, and a few being lunar guards. Besides that, many ponies vanquished on that very night. No one knew that Nightmare moon would kill so many, some who were just mere foals, most off the civilians were ‘innocent’. Yet, the entire population off Equestria spat the lunar princesses name in un-necessary hatred. A large number of homes were destroyed in the legendary fight; most destruction though was inside the castle. A few towers collapsed in the event, creating more damage to the sister’s ‘lovely’ home. All rooms were rather destroyed, or damaged; nothing surrounding the area looked as new as it used to be. It may have been over 1300 years old. But the castle kept up to its reputation; always looking brand new without a speck off moss anywhere. Bodies scattered in sections inside and outside the castle. Blood, wet or dry, stained the floor, body parts lying around the crushed or stabbed guards. A few survivors were sobbing in front of their fellow comrades, repeating the same question in their head over and over. ‘Why?..’ Most ponies (in the area) thought this war was a huge victory, a fight making history, a battle that was pointless, seeing their loved ones crushed, killed, or dissected. But for one, alicorn mare, it was a battle full off grief and sorrow. An elegant, yet broken alicorn sat in the center off a throne room. The alicorns coat was a bright white, her main flowing with pure magic in a soft colour scheme of pink, purple, blue and green. The ‘young’ alicorn was three times, possibly four times bigger than a normal pony, her horn longer and wings larger than the average unicorn and pegisi. And a gentle yet noticeable sun as her cutie mark, representing herself as the sun princess, Princess Celestia. “W-what have I…I-I….” Celestia couldn’t bright herself to talk, not even to stop staring at the very place she sent her sister to the moon. Her mind was full off intense emotions: betrayal, relief, anger, sadness…But the emotion she felt the most was regret. Scars and bruises where noticeable on her once soft and regal coat. A few bones were broken in the event too. However, she didn’t care. She didn’t care what she looked like, how many scars or cuts where on her, how many broken bones she had. Tears ran down as realization filled her soft violet-like eyes. There was only one thing that mattered at the moment. Someone that she betrayed and looked below on, someone who she retorted any necessary help from, not even a little time to relax and spend time with them. “Lulu is…banished...for a-a thousand years….” The past few moments started to catch up to her. She really did it. The once joyful, kind yet trustful pony was sent to the moon, solidly alone, for 1000 years. Nightmare moons last moments were heart breaking. She never told why she did that, or why she had so much hate for her and her beloved kingdom. But Celestia only saw anger and pain through her demonic eyes. ‘Why sister. Why do this when it was never necessary??’ Celestia was rather confused, but also understood some off her anger. She wasn’t there for her little sister. After being stuck on the throne for the first 40 years, it was going smoothly. But the last 57 years went down hill from there. She started to ignore Luna, she started paying more attention to the kingdom than her sister, putting aside her affection for her and placing it into Equestria. Gingerly, the alicorn rose from the ground, finally taking her eyes off the ‘place’. ‘I shall wait dear sister, but if you place any more danger on my fellow ponies when we meet once again, I shall not be merciful…’ 16 years before Nightmare moons return: Two young adults wandered across the Everfree forest, exploring yet amusing each other in silly scares or spooky stories. The mare had light purple hair with white streaks evening the purple. Her coat was a light silver with sea like-blue eyes fearfully scanning the area over and over. The stallion had a dark shade off blue as his main, with a slightly lighter shade as his coat and his eyes were a light shade off yellow. Both off these ponies were unicorns that had cutie marks with the same theme as the night. 3 purple stars on the mare and two light yellow moons as the colts. A mile away, the lovely couple stumbled across the ruins off the Royal sister’s castle, the mare glaring at the stallion cautiously. “Nighty, don’t you dare think that we are going inside there. You know how much I hate old places and….well..bones..” Twilight Velvet protested, knowing what her husband was about to do. “Oh, come on dear, this night is supposed to be creepy and scary.” Night light said obviously “Besides, it will be fun going inside ruins older than Celestia herself!” Twilight Velvet froze. She was never the type off pony who loved old things or creepy things in fact, but sadly for her, Night Light was the opposite. “Okay fine...but your taking Shining to the park instead, he takes way too long in there” “You’ve got yourself a deal!” Grasping tightly, Night Light dragged his wife in front of the ‘castle’, entering the area with caution. “Whoa whoa whoa!! This looks amazing!!! I wonder what treasures we could find in this place!” Night Light excitedly exclaimed, eyeing every detail in the area they are in. “As much as I’m happy seeing you exited, we still need to be careful, after all, this place could collapse any moment” “I guess your right. Want to try and find the princesses chambers?? I wonder how Celestia’s room was like a thousand years ago!” “isn’t that invading the Princesses privacy??” The un-sure mare said, eyeing at the two thrones in front of them. “Besides, why are there two thrones?? I see why there is a sun throne is as Celestia is the solar princess...but the moon? -“ “Hush dear, you talk too much. Now follow me! I bet we can find Celestia’s room no less that ten minutes!!” 7 minutes later Trotting slowly through the ancient halls, they noticed black stains, broken skeletons, and armor in every section off the ruins. They both found it un-nerving, but Night Light convinced his wife that as soon as they see Celestia’s old room, the sooner they will leave. Everything looked exactly the same, it felt like they were in some spooky maze, like the ones in those stories they would tell you as a filly. “Uhm dear…do you hear that?” Twilight Velvet stopped, listening closely on what her husband could hear. “It sounds like…a filly crying...” “I think we should check it out, hopefully the poor thing isn’t in danger” Running quickly but silently as they could, they followed the constant crying, leading themselves in front of a large yet broken door with a moon symbol in the middle. Carefully, they opened the decaying door, finding a large, night themed bedroom. The couple searched and examined the room before them. It seemed more off a royal chamber, but they ignored that fact and focused on finding the source off the cries. A few moments later, Twilight Velvet found a hidden trapdoor poking out off a torn rug, levitating it to reveal a sturdy hidden door. “Nighty, I think I found something” Night Light stopped glaring at the interesting books on the desk and wondered over to his wife. “I think this is where the cries are coming from” “Why would someone put a filly in a hidden room?! It makes no sense!!” Before Night Light could finish his statement, Velvet lifted the trap door open, trotting inside the dark passage before them. Night Light, slightly worried, followed his wife into the unknown, casting a little light spell too see where they were being lead too. It didn’t take long, but they found another door with a moon symbol on it, the difference though was it wasn’t a full and it had a star inside off it. The cries were now noticeable and close, the sound coming from the door in front of them. With no second thought, the couple pushed the door wide open, discovering a small fillys room. The walls were a dark purple, the celling a dark blue with violet stars covering the blue above them. A few toys were found scattering the floor, also finding a very expired bottle off milk. The most important thing in that room though was the purple, dusty crib, spotting something violet moving inside off it. “Velvet…is that really a…” “It seems so Nighty…” Before them, they found a small, crying unicorn inside the crib. The little filly had a dark purple main with a pink and light purple stripe beside each other. Her coat was a beautiful lavender and, un-usually, had the smallest little fangs poking out of her mouth. The two were completely shocked. Why would some pony leave a filly all alone?? Slowly, Twilight Velvet found a small yet noticeable label on the crib, written in a traditional font Equestria used to use. “Twilight Andromeda Sparkle, hey, she has the same name as me!” Velvet happily said, glaring at the adorable yet crying filly. As soon as she said that name though, the filly stopped crying and stared at the mare. Such adorable violet like-eyes stared confusingly at Twilight Velvet, then started looking around trying to find something. Staring at her husband, Velvet glanced at Night Lights expression. He seemed rather happy, yet gloomy too. She knew why he was feeling this. Finding a filly in a secret room with no one taking care off them was rather nerve racking. Slightly smiling, Night Light levitated the little filly onto his back, the lavender unicorn becoming silent. The two watched how the filly started to get comfortable with the stallion, drifting into a deep sleep. “I think she’s taken quite a liking to you” Velvet said smirking at Night Light. “Yeah, looks like she has...” “Hey, want to adopted Twilight? Shining did say he wanted a little sister, and the poor thing has nowhere to go” The stallion had to think about this. Having two children running around the house felt overwhelming. However, he started to get attached to the filly, now hugging him as she snored silently. “Okay dear, but before we tell shining, we need to get documents on her so we can legally adopt her” With a soft yet exiting smile, Velvet whispered “That’s fine with me, as long as she gets to stay with us, then I'm happy with it...” Author's Note Right- this is my first time ever making a story, so i hope you enjoyed the prologue!! I'll get better as I write, but this fanfic will have many plot twists and be as original as it can be. Ill post chapter one as soon as i know what I'm planning to do, bye!! //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1: A Discovery //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1: A Discovery “The elder sister took responsibility, for both sun and moon…and harmony has been maintained in Equestria for generations since…” finished a confused yet intrigued Twilight. This particular story was how and when Nightmare night originated from; by celebrating Nightmare moons banishment, or the tyrant’s defeat, or Lunar princess’s imprisonment. Many names were given to the Solar princess’s sister. But the main one was Nightmare moon, the ruler off the night, and the spawn off all dark yet unfamiliar creatures off the night. Rumours off the event still lingered today. Some saying she wanted attention, some saying Nightmare moon wanted revenge. But the main rumour was that she did all this for the sake of power. No one knew. Many questions wandered in her mind. Why did Nightmare moon do this? Did Princess Celestia have any chance to save her sister? What would happen if this tale was real?! Well, it didn’t matter. Nightmare moons return must be one big lie. Right?.. Still, one unrecognisable yet slightly familiar name was repeated over and over in her mind. “Hmmm…the Elements off Harmony...I know I have heard off those before…but where?...” Twilight stated, staring into the beautiful, clear sky that was present all over Equestria. <-0-> A few moments later, Twilight started sprinting towards to her chambers, ignoring and making excuses to the many ponies that waved, wanted to talk to her, or even smiled. She needed answers, she wanted answers. She couldn’t leave this topic in the dust, she needed to know where she heard off those words before, and why they felt so...familiar?? She knows that she had heard those distant words before, a very, very long time ago. Maybe her parents discussed about it?? Possibly Celestia??? As much as she thought, she couldn’t get her head around it. As fast as she could, she galloped towards the tower, leading to her personal chambers. As soon as she reached the entrance, Twilight excitingly flung the doors open, searching all around for her no.1 assistant, Spike. “Spike!..Spike!!..” after a moment, she found her no.1 assistant, lying on the floor rather dizzy and in a bit off shock. “Spike. There you are!” she exclaimed, trotting up the stairs, finding a large collection off books, left and right. “Quick, find me an old copy off predictions and prophecies” Twilight asked, now glancing at the baby dragon. She noticed that he was still trying to get up, realising that she had knocked him onto the ground when she opened the doors. “Sorry Spike, I didn’t realise you were at the door, I’m just a bit over my head right now” “No, its fine Twilight, you didn’t see me” Spike calmly said, now running towards Twilight. “Predictions and prophecies aye? Give me a second to get the book, its pretty high up” he sheepishly said, now aiming towards to the ladder. After a minute, Spike retrieved the book, now giving it to Twilight. She glanced down at the adorable purple/green dragon, giving him an affectionate smile. “Thank you Spike, you can have a little nap if you want, I know how tired you must feel, especially when you’ve been helping me constantly for the past two days” “Thank you, Twilight!!” Spike excitingly shouted. Running off to his bed. Twilight couldn’t help but smile even more. She knew how much Spike loved his naps. Anyways, she quickly levitated the book, now placing it on her desk. “The Elements off Harmony…the Elements off Harmony…ah-ha!!” she squeaked, reading vigorously at the information in-front of her. “Okay, so nothing helpful so far. I already know all off this!!” Twilight shouted, putting her hooves into her head. “There must be something useful” Continuing reading, she found something rather. Interesting. “The legend has it on the longest day of the 1000th year, the stars will aid in her escape, and she will bring about night-time eternal!!” Twilight gasped, eyes widening at this very statement. ‘This has to be some sort off misunderstanding, if this is real…Midnight moons release will be on the same night as the Summer Sun Celebration!’ she thought, now panicking at the discovery she has come across. Worryingly, she opened a scroll, and started to write on it. As much as she wanted Spike to write this, she promised him to have a nap. And besides, she knew a spell to teleport the message to the princess. Hopefully, she will read this as soon as she receives it. ‘Dear Princess, Celestia, I have recently discovered that the topic of the Mare of the moon, Nightmare moon, will return the day after tomorrow, on the same day as the Summer Sun Celebration. Please Princess, we must make sure his terrible prophecy does not happen, otherwise every pony will be in danger! I await your response. Your most faithful student, Twilight’ With the last word, she gathered a small amount off energy in her horn, releasing it onto the scroll, sealing it and teleporting it to the Princess. With a small sigh of relief, she slumped down, staring at the crystal-clear window in front of her. “Hopefully this is just a misunderstanding…this cannot happen- “With a pause, a green light was noticeable in the corner off her eye, leading her to Spike’s bed, now in a deep slumber. As carefully as she could be, Twilight lifted the scroll in front of her, quietly trotting off away from Spike. Without hesitation, she opened the scroll, revealing Princess Celestia’s response. “My dearest, most faithful student, Twilight, you know I value your diligence, and I trust you completely, but you simply must stop reading those dusty old books. Many books have truth in them, but some hold bear lies. I should know, I was the one to cast the spell on my dear sister. As your mentor and friend, please drop the topic Twilight, and just relax for now, there is something I want you and Spike to do tomorrow. From the one and only, Princess Celestia. PS: Your teleportation accuracy (in long distances) have improved! Keep up the work.” Twilight couldn’t believe what her mentor just wrote to her. She had to be joking. The book she read has only proven truth from past battles Celestia told her as a filly. She could remember Princess Celestia telling her about all the adventures and fights she went through, as Twilight would fall asleep right next to her. Twilights nerves have not gone away. A part off her knew this wasn’t right, not one bit. But she had to move that aside for now. She had to get prepared, for whatever Princess Celestia has planned for tomorrow… Author's Note Okay, so i hope this is okay for chapter1! I know it's a bit short, but this is how i want it to be left off. I added some original ideas to the beginning and some things from the actual episode. Things will be revealed as the chapters go by. I want it to be a mystery for some stuff, even if most off it can be obvious. Ill release a chapter once or twice a week, I'm quite busy a lot. So yeah, enjoy your day and if there is some stuff you dislike, please tell me so i can improve, bye!! :)
