Chptr 1

Pinkie Pie woke up feeling excited as usual, also as usual she smiled down at her drenched pillow imaging
how active she must have been in her sleep to cause that. She got out of bed and headed to the bathroom
passing Gummy still sleeping in his basket, soon she was all refreshed and hair perky ready to go out and
start her day.

To begin with she did her regular routine of checking on her friends, mostly in ways that they didn't see her
and if they did would greatly increase their curiosity on how she even managed to be in those places. All
her friends seemed to be doing great today so she headed on over to Sugarcube Corner to start her shift.

"Hiya all!" she greeted the Cakes happily as she hopped in the front door Pepe Le Pew style.
"Good morning" Mrs Cake answered smiling at the overactive pony, Mr Cake repeating his wife's greeting
"It is a good morning all sunny and clear and oh so cheery, what do you need me to do today?" she asked
happily bouncing around them
"Well we could use more muffins" Mrs Cake replied
"Oki Dokili Loki" Pinkie said happily hopping into the kitchen and started on the baking.

Later Pinkie headed out to find some lunch, pausing for a second, she sighed in contentment at the great
day she was having. A glimpse of cyan to her right caused her to turn, "hey Rainbow Daaaaa....." her
greeting trailed off as her eyes latched onto a picture of an explosion on the cyan's flank, something
momentarily tugged at her mind then disappeared. Pulling her eyes away from the cutie mark she saw it
wasn't her friend but a cyan colored unicorn stallion with a orange mane and tail.

"huh not Dash" she thought, "Wait! that's a new pony!" excitedly Pinkie went after him. Popping up in
front of him she saw the customary look of surprise and panic on his face at her sudden appearance,
oddly he seemed to also have a brief flash of recognition on his face but it was gone so fast she wasn't sure
it was ever there.

"Hi welcome to town! I'm Sweetie Pie what's your name!?" she asked excitedly hopping up and down in his
path forcing him to a stop
"S-s-sonic Boom" he got out

to have a party i'll go set it up!" and with that she took off leaving a dumbfounded unicorn in her wake.

All over town a pink blur was seen but as it was not too unusual most ponies just smiled to themselves.
In only a few hours sugarcube corner was filled with ponies and Rarity, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Fluttershy
and Twilight Sparkle were heading over to Pinkie Pie to see what this party was all about.

"Hey Pinkie great party! what are we celebrating this time?" Dash asked as they walked up to Pinkie
"Hey girls! yeah this party is great we're all welcoming my new friend Sonic Boom!" she giggled happily
"Who?" Twlight asked looking around.
"Huuuuh!!! I forgot to tell him where it was, I'll be right back!" In a pink blur Pinkie was gone, her friends all
looked at each other with knowing grins on their faces.

Looking all over Pinkie was surprised to find the stallion outside of her house.
"Hey silly the party is at sugar cube corner not here we need to hurry lets go!"
"Pinkie we need to taaaaaah!" Sonic's response was lost as the pink pony grabbed him and took off back
to the party.

"Thesearemyfriends Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Twilight Sparkle, Applejack and Rarity, allofyouthisismy
friend Sonic Boom now lets have fun!" energy and excitement poured from Pinkie's very being.

"Well hello there welcome to pony ville" Rarity said bringing her right foreleg up to her chest.
"Thanks" sonic muttered
"How long have ya known Pinkie?" Applejack asked kindly
Oddly a look of panic came over him for a moment before he muttered something non committal, Applejack
narrowed her eyes at him but let it pass
"Haven't seen you around before did you just get in to town?" Twilight inquired
"Just got here this morning on the train" definitely starting to look nervous at all the questioning.
"Where you from?" Dash asked
"Fillydelphia" he muttered
"............."
"What was that? Sonic asked confused
"............"
"I can't hear you"
"I think what Fluttershy is trying to say is are you staying long?" Dash giggled
"Just here to finish somethings then I'll be moving on" he replied, "if you'll please excuse me that punch looks
good" stammered Sonic as he made a quick getaway to the snack table

"isn't he great!" Pinkie exclaimed, "well gotta greet everyone else be back soon"
Watching their Pink friend trot off Twilight waited till she was out of earshot and turned to her friends, "What
do you think of Sonic?" she asked her friends with a worried look on her face, "to me he seems nervous, at
least more nervous than most ponies pulled into Pinkie's orbit"
"I agree sugar cube, he didn't even answer my question directly and it still came out like a lie" Applejack said
nodding her head in agreement with Twilight.
"Don't look now you all but i've been watching him since he went off and in all that time he hasn't taken
his eyes off of Pinkie, except to watch where hes going." Rarity said voice full of disapproval.
"You're right Rarity! and whats that expression he has if I had to guess I'd say he looks guilty" Twilight
said in concern
"He is oggling Pinkie, should I go over there and put him straight" Dash said getting hyped up
"Hold on there sugar cube don't get hasty, I don't think he means any harm y'all I don't get a malicious
vibe from him, it's more like, I don't know, he kinda lets off a kinda sadness feeling" Applejack commented
as she moved herself between Dash and Sonic's location.
"Your right AJ now that you mention it I kinda feel it too, but how could anybody involving Pinkie also include
sadness?" Rarity wondered.
"Pinkie is a grown pony, stop laughing Dash!, and can take care of herself, so I guess we should probably
just leave Sonic alone respecting his privacy, unless later it seems he does have some ill intent towards Pinkie"
Twilight surmised.
They all reluctantly agreed.

Sonic Boom nearly choked on his punch as Pinkie suddenly popped up in front of him, "great party huh,
having lots of fun right?" she asked excitedly
"Yeah great, Pinkie I have to ask why did you throw this party for me? Heck why did you even speak to me?
I'd understand if you hadn't wanted to" Sonic asked gloomily
Pinkie cocked her head at him inquisitively "What are you talking about? All ponies deserve parties and to be
happy and why wouldn't I want to talk to you, you so interesting, if a bit odd"
"I just came to town to say I'm sorry, I know its not enough and I'm not looking for forgiveness, I just want you
to know I am and I would do anything to make things right." he said hanging his head in shame.
"What are talking about silly, apologize for what, WAIT! did you backwash in the punch!? don't worry about
it Gummy does that all the time" she giggled.
"Wha......?" realization came to his eyes, "you don't remember do you?"
"Remember what silly, you really need to start including more clues if we're going to keep playing guessing
games"
"Don't worry Pinkie I'll make it up to you, I gotta go now, think some things over, but I promise that from this
point on I'm going to make you the happiest pony ever no matter what it takes, once again sorry, see you
later" A look of great sadness came over him then he turned and walked out of the party leaving a completely
confused and flabbergasted pink pony by the table with her mouth hung open.

Pinkie's friends hurried over
"what happened?"
"are you all right?"
"did he hurt you?"
"what's wrong?"
"I think he escaped from a mental institution he makes no sense! but did you see that frown, that just won't do
don't worry I'll make that frown turn upside down! I pinkie promise!" Pinkie exclaimed with absolute certainty.

Chptr 2

The following weeks Pinkie and Sonic were inseparable. Everywhere Pinkie went Sonic was trailing behind
her, helping carry groceries, opening doors, anything the pink pony needed he was there to supply it
always with a grin or smile on his face, but also always with a hint of sadness behind it. Her friends were
at a complete loss in how to respond to it, happy that she had such a helpful new friend, alarmed that
some new stallion stalked their friend everywhere. Finally Rarity could stand it no more and called all her
friends (besides Pinkie of course) to a meeting at her place.

"Okay I called you all here cause I'm worried about this Pinkie and Sonic situation" Rarity started.
All around her friends nodded, they were in a semi circle around her in the large boutique area with
clothing material all over and half dressed mannequins in half finished dresses. "Usually I'd be happy
to see Pinkie with a friends who could tolerate to be around her twenty four seven, but we don't even
know anything about him, except that by his looks and the way he acts he seems to have done
something wrong to Pinkie in the past that he's trying to make up for."
"Rarity's right, Sonic is nice but also strange, I think we should confront him, see what his intent for
Pinkie is after all she's our friend and its our job to protect her"
"I agree Dash, earlier I advised to leave it alone but now I think it's time for some answers," Twilight
started, "but lets do this right, we'll ask him friendly like and not jump to conclusions or accusations."
All nodding in agreement they set out to find Sonic Boom.

Pinkie was as happy as punch which coincidentally she was drinking, this month had been terrific,
she wasn't sure how she had ever gotten along without Sonic before now. He was helpful, polite,
smiled at all her jokes and pranks, she knew he had said at the party he would do this but watching
him she could see by his manner and eyes this wasn't a chore to him, he truly did enjoy doing
these things for her. It was just frustrating that no matter what he also had that under layer of
sadness that she could not get rid of.

Looking across the table now at him as he ate a dandelion sandwich she looked into his large Opal
eyes and found that she could just drown in that sight, slowly she realized he had looked up into her
eyes as well. Startled she looked away and found she was blushing, looking back cautiously she
saw him intent on his sandwich a blush slowly fading from his cheeks. He was cute she thought to
herself, he had a nice muscled body, not as big or muscled as Big Mac but definitely well toned.
Pinkie had always loved the cyan color and his mane appealed to her too. Although smaller than most
stallions he was still half a head taller than her and the rest of his body was equally proportioned.
She knew he was definitely a stallion as she had been around him enough to have seen a few times.
This sudden line of thought made her blush again. Then there was that cutie mark, every time she
saw for some reason she froze up and didn't know why it tugged at something in her mind.

"You've never been this quite before is something wrong?" Sonic looked at her worriedly.
Startled out of her reverie Pinkie blinked in surprise, this wasn't like her, what was happening?
"I;m fine" she mumbled, then blushed again.
Pull yourself together pony, what do you think your doing?
"If you want me to leave I can" Sonic said in a soft voice
"nodontgoitsjustmeyouknowthinkinggettingdistractedbiutyourgreatimeanniceimeanidontknowbutpleasejuststay"
Yes girl i'm back! but where did I go? am I? No! I can't be falling for him could I?
She looked across at him, worry written all over his face, "I'm fine really! let's finish lunch" she said smiling
reassuringly.

"Hey Pinkie Pie, mind if we borrow Sonic Boom?" Twilight called out as Pinkie saw her and her other five friends approaching.
"Why do you need Sonic/me?" they both asked together, then looked at each other and blushed
"I need a strong stallion to help with something at the boutique?" Rarity answered
"Hmmm" Pinkie looked at Applejack and Rainbow Dash, both gave her what they hoped were convincing smiles,
Pinkie's scowl increased then disappeared in a big smile "Oki Dokili Oki, as long as Sonic is okay with it"
"Sure" Sonic agreed hesitantly, "I'll be back soon Pinkie don't do anything funny without me" he said with a shy
grin on his face.

At Rarity's, Sonic soon found himself surrounded by the mares.
"Please don't be nervous we don't want to hurt you or make you uncomfortable but Pinkie Pie is one of best
friends and we want to know what your intentions are." Twilight started.
"No you don't" Sonic said sadly "you want to know where I first met Pinkie Pie and what I did that was so
wrong to her"
Taken back momentarily by his directness the mares all stayed silent as he continued.
"I could make up something small and forgivable or something, but Pinkie has told me all about you and
the elements of harmony and that you" he turned so he was facing Applejack "would probably see through
whatever I said, so instead just let me say I won't tell you, I can't and if you will accept me you have to accept
that as well. It should never have happened and somehow Pinkie Pie has forgotten it and if I can help it she
never will"
"Is that a challenge?!?" Dash said moving forward only to be held back by Applejack
"Not a challenge, I'm telling you now when I came it was only to apologize to Pinkie and if she needed anything
to help her get it, but when I found out she didn't remember I felt like instead making her happy. I won't lie
she grew on me, to be honest I can't think of anything better anymore than seeing her smile. You no doubt
noticed my cutie mark as its kinda of an unusual talent. I'm very good at blowing things up"
"You blew up her house! is that why she had to move to pony ville" Dash shouted out.
For a brief instant so fast Twilight thought she might of imagined it Sonic's expression became panicked.
No one else noticed though as they were focused on Dash telling her not to jump to wild conclusions.
"Well to continue, when little I was always putting together explosives and setting them off, went to the hospital
once when while on my bed i set one off on the floor, the force of the explosion slammed the bed up on the wall
trapping me from the neck down between the wall and bed, I had to wear a neck brace for a month after that"
Dash started laughing, with a sad grin in her direction Sonic continued. "as I grew up I got into construction
helping blow out tunnels and other things. after the construction work I've been.....busy and now I've come here
with the intent of helping another, only to find I really needed her help all along".

Looking around at the attentive faces he continued, "I could see myself settling down here, maybe doing some
baking I'm also good with flames. I know ignoring your talent usually causes cutie related illnesses, but I haven't
needed to blow anything up since I've been with her, my need is quelled every time I manage to set her off on one
of her funtrums, nothing brings me more joy"

"Really" Dash exclaimed incredulously, the others quickly shushed her

"Maybe I'll blow stuff up now and then but I know my stuff and nopony or thing would be harmed, seeing as she
might be into it I could always work with Dash and plant some in some clouds somehow, cool and safe"
Rainbows eyes widened and there was a hunger in them.
"I'm unloading this all now to you cause I needed to vent, cause it seems its all just wishful thinking anyway since
I don't think Pinkie wants me here anymore and I'll do anything she wants, even leave".
All five mares had been hanging on his words, with this announcement they all drew back and shouted at once,
"Why would you think that?"
"No Way!"
"it can't be"
"but you both look happy"
"......................"
"She no longer jumps and yells around me, her constant talking has dwindled off and I find often now her just
staring at me quietly"
All five mouths fell open at once and all five recovered at once to shout
"QUIETLY!?!"
He even heard Fluttershy that time
"Yeah I think I bore her" he said sadly ears drooping.

"Honey, no you poor thing your confused, I've seen Pinkie's reaction to things she doesn't like, I've seen her reaction to boredom, I've even seen her reaction to sadness, but what I've never seen is her reaction to someone she likes
and I've definitely never seen her quiet around anypony," Rarity told him with conviction, his ears slowly perked back
up, "No, I must say the feeling is definitely mutual" he sighed in relief when suddenly Rarity came forward pushing her
face so close their noses touched giving him a good view of the anger in her eyes, she spoke in a low menacing voice her friends had to lean in to hear, "but so help me if you hurt her, I'll make you regret you ever lived, Pinkie is the very embodiment of happiness and joy, if you so much as make her cry I'll hunt you down and destroy you, maybe hang you on a cloud with one of your toys as you suggested, your demise will be so horrid if you damage her that it will be written and remembered forever in the histories of Equestria, have I made myself clear?"
"Yes, I swear there is nothing I want in this but to make her happy, if all I ever did with her was look into her
eyes for all eternity my life would be complete and I would be satisfied and nothing more would ever be needed".
"Nothing?" Applejack asked in a sly voice.
Realizing from where the speaker was and was currently looking, his face went bright red and he quickly put his
two back legs together. Dash collapsed in a laughing fit and still blushing Sonic glared at her.
"I would never, I mean no way, not unless she wanted...." he stammered getting more and more flustered,
sending Dash into coughing fits as she laughed so hard.
"Relax honey we're only teasing you" Rarity got out between her own giggles.
"That's right sugar cube I don't much like that you have a secret your not willing to tell that might hurt Pinkie,
but from what I've heard you have been honest with us and I believe you really have Pinkie's best interests
at heart. whatever you've done your obviously sorry for it and will do all to make it right so from now on
we're on your side and will support you whenever you need it." AJ said with a big grin on her face, the others
nodding their agreement.
"Oh! I know lets one of us have a sleepover with her tonight, you know breach the topic with girl talk." Rarity
said excitedly.
"Good idea, I'll do it, no offense to the rest of you but some of you are too direct," AJ said giving a significant
glance at Dash causing her to glare back from her prone position, "others are a little too timid or inexperienced"
she continued looking at Twi and Fluttershy, they nodded their reluctant agreement.
Rarity almost spoke up but stopped knowing AJ was probably best for this task. "Just be gentle with her AJ" she
said instead.
Sonic Boom just looked around relieved to have passed their test.

Chptr 3

"Wow this has been the best day ever, first I get to spend the day with Sonic, then you guys go off
with him and comeback all smiles and obviously friends, then I get to have a supidy duper sleep
over with my best, that's you AJ, friend and best of all I finally saw Sonic smiling with no sadness in
his eyes" Pinkie exclaimed excitedly bouncing around the room.
As AJ expected Pinkie had been excited that she would be sleeping over tonight, but was now wondering
if she had bit off more than she could chew. Pinkie had been non stop cheer since AJ arrived an hour ago,
in that time the orange pony had only been able to get in maybe four words that whole time, three being
"Hi there Pinkie"
Like a drowned pony grabbing hold of a life saver, Applejack dove in at the word Sonic.
"Sonic Boom is really nice isn't he Pinkie?"
"Well duh, of course he is, I could be with him forever, well not forever, we'd both eventually grow old
and die but until then it would be great, with his handsome cyan coat and wonderfully deep opal
eyes........."
AJ was shocked as she realized the house had gone quiet, fascinated she just stared at her friend as
Pinkie looked off into nowhere obviously thinking about Sonic Boom.
That clinched it, AJ knew they were definitely meant for each other, "Do you think you like him as maybe
something more than just a friend?"
"Well of course silly I love him." Pinkie said coming back to herself.
AJ was at a loss for words by her friends bluntness, although knowing Pinkie Pie she should of expected
it, Pinkie had no problem filling in the silence though.
"Why wouldn't I? he's nice, kind, generous helpful,kind, good looking,strong, kind, oh did I already say
kind before?" she giggled, "Oh well he is!"
Still more hesitant about this kind of thing than her friend, AJ asked casually,"Are you gonna let him
know how you feel?"
"Of course!" AJ sighed in relief but it was short lived as Pinkie continued, "but not for awhile, I don't want
to scare him, after all I don't even know if he likes me back, that would be awkward if he only liked me as
a friend" she said rolling her eyes energetically.
Knowing she might be breaking an unspoken secret agreement with Sonic, AJ told Pinkie anyway what
needed saying, "What would you do if you knew for sure he liked you back?".
"Next time I saw him I'd give him a big smooch!"
AJ blushed, not the response she expected, she made a mental note to be there next time these two
met up, she didn't want to miss the look on Sonic's face after she did that!, " well I have it on 100%
reliable information he does like you.......a lot".

Pinkie's smile grew wider and her mane puffed up more and all off a sudden she was running around
and bouncing off walls, literally, while screaming with joy. Spotting movement AJ saw Gummy crawling
under the bed, after being bumped twice, the second time sending her sprawling on the floor, she
got the hint and crawled in after him and watched from the safety of cover. The rest of the night was
great but exhausting for AJ who was having trouble keeping up with her friends boundless energy.
Pinkie noticed this and suggested they go to bed, AJ agreed whole heartedly, passing out as soon
as she landed on the cot.

"Pinkie Pie! Pinkie Pie! oh sweet Celestia please wake up Pinkie!"
Pinkie Blinked and yawned as she sat up past AJ's hovering worried face, momentarily she ignored her
friend and looked out the window.
Smiling she turned to AJ, "Silly this isn't your farm we don't have to wake up till the sun fully rises."
Surprised at her friends response AJ backed up wide eyed her legs she'd been using to shake her friend
awake sliding off the bed back onto the floor.
Starting to notice her friends fearful and concerned expression Pinkie stretched her forelegs, "What's
wrong why are you looking at me like that?"
"Sweetey" she started hesitantly, "what were you dreaming about?"
"Dream? I never dream I just sleep" she said matter-of-factly.
" It's alright I'm your friend you don't need to hide anything from me, you can tell me what the dream
was, I won't judge you or think differently about you."
Getting slightly irritated, Pinkie glared at her friend, "I told you I don't dream!"
"Pinkie feel your pillow, please"
"Its wet, so what? its always soaked in the morning"
Applejack's ears went flat against her head "every morning!?"
"Yeah I must really work myself up in the night to sweat that much"
"Sugar cube it ain't sweat"
"Of course it is, wait" she bent down and sniffed "whew you scared me, there was no way I thought that
was pee till you got me all worked up"
"Its not sweat....It's tears" AJ gulped
"Tears that makes no sense who would sneak in and cry on my pillow"
"You were crying...a lot"
"I don't cry, oh i know I must be really happy when I sleep so I weep for joy, this is exciting" she said
jumping up and down on her bed.
"Those weren't no tears of joy, I ain't never seen tears of joy before but I have seen tears of extreme
grief when a ponies sleeping before and you had them bad Pinkie" AJ was scared and it was starting to
get to Pinkie.
"I don't have anything to grief about my life is great........wait a minute who do you know who cries in their
sleep?"
AJ realized her slip too late, for a moment she panicked wondering what to do but then realized her
only option was resignation, after all she was all alone in a house with Pinkie, she would get it out of her
one way or another for sure.

Sighing "You know how Applebloom, Big Mac and I are all raised by Granny, well it wasn't always like that,
the farm used be run by my Ma and Pa, but one night a little after Applebloom was old enough to be away
from mom and I was just a filly there was an accident in our barn, in the process of getting my brother,
sister and I out of the burning barn they were trapped and never got out. Weeks after that we all cried in
the night, I knew i did cause I'd wake up and go to my siblings rooms and see them sobbing in their sleep
and knew I must be no different. It was the hardest time in my life, but eventually we learned to cope and
focus on the good times rather than our loss. After that we no longer cried every night, don't get me wrong
we still do a few times a month but that's cause you never fully get over something like that" finished AJ
drooped her head tears running down her cheeks.
Pinkie was crying too "AJ I had no idea, I'm so sorry you poor thing"
"Its okay sugar cube life takes its course and we go with it, but we have to accept it first and that's our
problem, Pinkie you were easily crying as hard as my siblings if not harder, how far back has your pillow
been soaked?"
"As long as I can remember but I'm not sad look at me" she said bouncing around her bed.
"This is important Pinkie, it's not healthy, think really hard can you remember anything while you slept?"
"I've never tried before but I'll do it for you AJ" Pinkie scrunched up her face, it was faintly bathed in rays
of morning sun coming in the window.
AJ watched her intently ready to jump up and comfort her as soon as she needed it, hours past, tired but
vigilant Applejack knew the moment her friend succeeded, suddenly she let out a gasp and all her hair
just deflated, she had never actually seen the moment this happened before and it wrenched the farm
ponies heart. Leaping up onto the bed she put her arms around Pinkie.

In a sealed chamber a hairline crack appeared on a blue gemstone.

Elsewhere a bit of rock broke off and tumbled to the ground.

"there there sugar cube just tell me about and we'll get you through this"AJ said comfortingly but something
was wrong, AJ could feel it. Pinkie wasn't responding to her touch and when AJ peeked down at her face
Pinkie's eyes were blank and not registering her friends presence. Really scared now Applejack shook her
friend but she didn't respond,
"oh Pinkie wake up, say something, anything, just please comeback to me" Applejack cried.
Panicked she glanced out the window and was relieved to see a cyan dot in the sky, she didn't want
to let go of Pinkie but she knew she had to.
"Rainbow Dash" she yelled out the window after she shoved it open and stuck her head out.
Circling around, Dash flew over, "whats wrong?" she asked as she got close enough to see AJ's panic.
"Get Twilight quick somethings wrong with Pinkie" she cried out
Not bothering to question what was wrong from a sense of urgency Dash felt seeing AJ so scared, Dash
sped off to Twilight's library.
Relieved that help was on the way AJ returned to Pinkie gathering her into her arms, "I'm so sorry I
never meant to hurt you, please forgive me Pinkie, I'm sorry please comeback".
As she waited she suddenly realized that Pinkie was doing something, softly, oh so softly AJ found if
she strained her ears Pinkie was saying something, it sounded like the same word over and over.
Completely focused AJ thought she could make it out, Why?. Fresh tears came down AJ's drenched
face, what was wrong with her friend, what was she seeing that all she could do was question it?

Twilight and Dash barged through the door and sped into the bedroom. Dash stopped at the door
stunned at the sight of Pinkie's unresponsive form, Twilight hurried over quickly looking Pinkie over
"What happened?" she asked in concern.
"It's my fault, I saw her crying in her sleep then convinced her to try to remember what caused it so
I could help her through it and she just froze up, I think she keeps muttering Why? over and over
again, what have I done?" AJ finally broke down completely.
"Don't worry, it's not your fault you were only being a good friend" Twilight consoled her, "now I
need to get in there" Twi's horn began to glow and AJ moved aside so Twi could touch it to Pinkie's
forehead. It seemed to be only a second after it touched that the lavender pony recoiled back, tears
streaming down her cheeks, she repeated over and over, "impossible she told us about them, they're
not dead" .
"What happened?" Dash asked concerned, moving into the room.
As soon as Rainbow entered her peripheral vision they all jumped as Pinkie screamed "WHY!?!" a
pink blur hurtled at Dash knocking her up onto her hind legs she was carried across the room and
pinned with her hoofs off the floor to the wall by Pinkie's front right leg across her throat. Dash gasped
for breath and flailed but couldn't get free, AJ and Twi rushed over and grabbed Pinkie and pulled but
she wouldn't budge. Looking into Pinkie's rage crazed eyes Dash felt distantly a new found fear and
awe for her friend. Well at least if I die it's not at the hands of a weakling, she thought bleakly.
losing energy Rainbows wings slowly came out to hang limply, as her eyes caught sight of the movement
and saw the wings, Pinkie suddenly collapsed, Twilight quickly caught Pinkie while AJ hurried over
to Dash who was on her side hacking and coughing for air. "It's okay sugar cube I got you" AJ
comforted Dash as she held her in her arms as the cyan pegasus recovered.
Twilight was holding Pinkie again on the floor trying to calm her.
Recovering faster than the others expected Dash got to her feet heading towards Twi and Pinkie, murder
written all over her face, "No Dash! she didn't mean it, leave her alone" Twi said holding Pinkie
protectively.
"i know that Twi, Pinkie's not the one that's gonna pay" Dash growled as Twi realized the door was
right behind her. "She didn't react to you or AJ, Twi, she attacked me! and there can only be one
reason why!" Dash shouted,Twi knew but hoped Rainbow was thinking of something else but lost all hope of that as Dash
looked significantly at her own coat. Her muscles bunched just giving Twi barely enough time to grab
her tail with her magic as Dash tried to take off past her, "no Dash we don't know the whole story!"
Twilight shouted.
Quivering in rage Dash screamed back, "She tried to kill me Twi, that wasn't a warning or joke, she
truly tried to kill me, Pinkie! a pony so gentle the most she will do to her worst enemy is throw a pie
and because she thought I was that Celestia forsaken stallion she tried to KILL ME!, WHAT DID HE
DO TWILIGHT, WHAT COULD HE DO TO CAUSE HER TO DO THAT!" Dash collapsed in a sobbing
heap too tired from her tirade to stay standing, AJ came over and lied down next to her putting a front
leg over Dash's shoulder to comfort her.

Chptr 4

It was a great day for Pinkie Pie, she was with her Ma, Pa and two sisters on her way back from town. She wasn't
supposed to know that her parents had been picking up party supplies and a cake that they planned to use for
her surprise birthday party in the family's silo. They would rush over and set everything up while Pinkie put
away the groceries, then surprise her when she came out to see where everyone had gone. Pinkie was too
clever though and had seen too many hints, but she'd still act surprised and they'd all have great fun. Some
rich guy daddy knew had given them all tickets to go to the big fair today for her birthday, but Pinkie didn't
like crowds so they had agreed just to have a small dinner celebration instead.

They pulled up to the farm house and while mom and her sisters gathered up 'the farm supplies' she helped
her dad out of the wagon harness. Free of it he hurried off to help the girls. Pinkie smiled as she took her
time unloading the groceries wanting to give her family time to prepare. Finishing up putting everything away
Pinkie headed out the back door, about to head to the silo she caught movement by the side of the house
and went to investigate. She was surprised to see a cyan colored unicorn bending his head down to use
his horn to light the end of a rope that went between her legs and farther back behind her somewhere.

"Who are you?" she asked causing him to jump up right after he lit it. For a moment she watched as the
rope burned towards then under her and around the corner but she was more interested in the stranger.
"wh-wh-what are you doing here?" he asked nervously
Idly taking a look at what looked to be an explosion cutie mark on his flank she answered, "I live here, why
are you here?"
"Is anybody else here? were you sick? I thought you all went to the fair" fervently he asked her ignoring her
question.
"We didn't go, I don't like fairs, too crowded, instead my family is in the silo setting up a surprise party for
me, want to come?" Looking up at him expectantly she backed up scared as his face went pale.
"The silo? no!" he said in a shocked whisper running past her.
Still scared of the strangers weirdness Pinkie was curious and followed him, just as she rounded the corner
the bottom of the silo exploded knocking Pinkie and the cyan unicorn off their feet. In horror from her prone
position she watched as the silo slowly caved in on itself till it was nothing but a pile of rubble.

"No one was supposed to be here!" the unicorn watched wide eyed till it ended then with one glance at the
collapsed filly he turned and fled.

It wasn't long till the authorities came to investigate the explosion and found the shivering filly, eyes locked
on the silo. She barely moved as a brown stallion in a police uniform put her on his back and carried her back
to the local police station. Not sure what to do with her he left her by the window and promised he'd be
back with the stations doctor. Lying on the bench watching out the window she suddenly heard a loud boom
and out the window she saw an expanding circle rainbow with another regular rainbow appearing out of
it causing a rock way up a cliff to sparkle. As she gazed at it in amazement thoughts flashed through her
head of all the best moments she had with her family, her sister's birthday, her parent's anniversary. Smiling
ponies and party decorations danced through her head and she suddenly knew what she wanted to do,
make everyone smile. The cop who brought her in and the doctor were shocked when they returned to
find caution tape strewn all over like streamers and the whole station having a party with a cute little
pink filly with a balloons cutie mark at the center of it all smiling and laughing and infecting all ponies
around her with her joy. A few questions from the doctor confirmed his suspicions, she didn't remember
anything of the days events. Thinking it better for her this way he recommended they find friends of the
family out of town to send her to, so nothing would accidentally bring them back. In ponyville the Cakes
agreed to take her in till she could support herself.

AJ and Dash supported each other as they listened to Twi finish telling what she had seen.
"So she just forgot?" AJ asked in wonder
"Not exactly, she suppressed her memories, unable to cope with what her mind was processing at the
time her mind instead just locked it away" Twi explained
"So I accidentally helped her unlock her memories, what's that mean to whats gonna happen to her?"
AJ asked in a subdued voice.
"It means that she's now back in the same place as back then and we can only hope that unlike back
then she is finally able to mentally cope with it but i'm worried her breathing keeps slowing and she
seems to be losing the fight, I don't know what to do, she needs something but I just don't know what" Twi
cried as she looked down at her friend.

"She needs release"
All three ponies turned in surprise at the voice at the bedroom door.
For a second time the three jumped even though it had happened before as Pinkie leapt at Sonic Boom,
"WHY!"
With no wall behind him he landed on his back from the impact, landing on top of him and straddling his
body, tears rolled down Pinkie's face as she hit his chest over and over every now and then one swinging
high to hit his head. Stunned for a moment AJ and Twi got over it and were rushing to help when they were
stunned into inaction again, "DON'T YOU DARE TOUCH HER!"
AJ and Twilight just plopped down on their rumps in shock at the stallions outburst. They sat and watched
as he lay there and took it all looking up at Pinkie with a face of sadness and eyes full of caring. Blood could be
seen on his chest and they all involuntarily flinched when they thought they heard a crack. Slowly Pinkies
attack got weaker and weaker till she wasn't really doing anything besides moving her fore legs, as her
hits became weaker her voice rose in volume, "Why?, Why?, Why?, Why?, Why?, Why?, Why?, Why?, Why?,
Why?, Why?, Why?" she sobbed till too exhausted to hold herself up she lay down on top of him.

When she lay down he wrapped his fore legs around her, the left he used to hold her to him, the right he held
her head on his shoulder and gently stroked her mane. The three friends winced as he pulled her too him, easily
seeing how much pain it caused from his expression but through it all the love and caring never left his eyes.

It took them a moment to realize he was speaking, "My family was never very prosperous and when my dad
died leaving mom and me, bits became scarce. I wasn't old enough to be considered for serious construction
yet despite my talent, I found odd jobs here and there. One day a stallion offered me a lot of bits for a job,
on the outskirts of town was a farm he wanted to buy out but they refused. He was going to get them off the
farm for a day and i was to get rid of there storage silo filled with their soon to be sold goods, I never should
have agreed but I was desperate for bits, that's not an excuse I'm just telling how it is. I'm just lighting the fuse
when disaster strikes, a pink filly surprises me asking questions, quick questions reveal that the empty farm
is not empty and worse the rest of the family is in the silo. In horror I go to stop the fuse but it's too late, the
world explodes in front of me. Picking myself up I see the consequences of my action immediately trembling
on the ground" his eyes amazingly soften more as he gazed at the pink bundle trembling on his shoulder.

"Scared and not knowing what to do I take the cowardly way out and run. Two times I went back to see if she
returned, when I saw a new ownership sign go up I snuck in that night and found stuff I thought she'd need
later on. Sifting through the silo I found more. Returning home news of the event had spread, no one knew
who did it but my mom did, she didn't sell me out but she did disown me. On my own I found work till I had
enough to survive on and hit the road, I traveled all across Equestria with one goal in mind. Go to all the libraries
and find a spell to go back and fix my wrong, for years I searched till I had seen them all and knew no such
spell existed. Having failed I fell on my second plan, find the mare I had wronged let her know how sorry I
was and let her decide my fate, from there you know the rest"

No one moved, there was no sound but breathing and a slight wheezing from Sonic's breathing.
Finally Twilight asked in a hushed voice, "How did you know to come here?"
A slight blush came over his face, " I was keeping an eye on her house and when you and Dash ran in I
eavesdropped"

More silence

"You hurt her, you hurt her very bad, what makes you think we'll forgive you?" Dash growled tears still
evident going down her cheeks.

"I don't, I didn't come to be forgiven, I came to do what I can to make things right, I'll do anything to save
her, she can beat me till I'm dead I don't mind, all that matters is her. Everything that has happened to
me since then I deserved"

"I forgive you"

Four sets of eyes whipped around in shock at the pink bundle in Sonic's arms.

Chptr 5

Slowly the pink head on his shoulder raised up and turned till she was looking right at him, her eyes were
puffy and all her face fur was matted with tears. As she looked into his eyes she continued, "I forgive you,
it's not your fault, you never meant to hurt anyone, yes you shouldn't have been their in the first place or
been doing, but you were and you would never have intentionally did something that would hurt another
pony. I know that now, no that's not true, I always knew that but I was so mad, I needed something to hate
and you were there, something physical to get back at what had been done to me. You don't deserve all
this" shushing his protests she pressed on, "you did deserve punishment but not to this extent, you
made a mistake and others paid dearly for it, but your only a pony, we all make mistakes, just some have
bigger consequences than others. I know what you did and I know you truly regret it, so I forgive you and
I love you" she finished softly.

He looked at her in wonder, after awhile he was finally able to respond,"Thank you, this is more than I
could have ever expected, I love you too and want to stay with you forever if you'd let me"
"Of course I would",she breathed as she leaned down and pressed her lips against his.
They kissed for several seconds till she had to pull back as he coughed, a little blood running out
the side of his mouth.
"Oh my gosh I'm sorry I forgot your hurt we need to get you to the hospital!"
"It's alright i'm f-" another hacking cough caused him to stop, "ok yeah I guess I do need medical
attention" he grinned sheepishly.

Quiet till now Dash could no longer hold it in, "Just like that you forgive him! after all he did to you,
how he musta made you fee-"
"DASH! HOW DARE YOU ASSUME TO KNOW HOW I FEEL!" panicked as she saw Pinkie get off
Sonic and advance toward her, Dash backed up, cringing at every word thrown at her, "WHAT WOULD
YOU KNOW LIVING UP IN YOUR NICE BIG HOUSE NEVER TOO FAR TO TAKE A TRIP TO
CLOUDSDALE AND VISIT YOUR WELL OFF PARENTS! AND YOU" seeing Dash properly cowed,
pressed back first to the bed, she turned to Twi who let out a Fluttershy like squeak, "TWO FINE
PARENTS WHO MADE SURE YOU HAD THE BEST SCHOOLING AND A BIG BROTHER WHO'S
SUCCESSFUL AND GAVE YOU A GREAT SISTER IN LAW, YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO JUDGE ME!" Twi curled
up in a scared ball and whimpered, "I didn't say anything, why are you yelling at me?"
"FINALLY YO-" Pinkie's voice tapered off as she turned to AJ, to Twi's and Dash's surprise she ran over
and threw herself into AJ's arms and hugged her burying her head in Applejack's mane, "It hurts, it hurts
so much, I'm so scared" she whimpered
"there, there sugar cube it will be alright, I understand, we're all here for you" AJ soothed as she stroked
Pinkie's mane.

They stayed like this for awhile, Twi and Dash looking on wondering what was going on till they were all
interrupted as Sonic had another coughing fit.
"Oh no! we need to get him to hospital, quick Dash get a cart, AJ, Twilight help me get him to the door.
In no time at all they had him loaded in the back of a cart and Dash zooming him to the hospital, inside
Pinkie followed as he was quickly taken to the back while Twi and AJ stayed at the front to do the paper
work and Dash got rid of the cart.
"So what happened?" the nurse asked as Twilight filled out the form.
"Pinkie got upset and attacked him" Twilight said absently.
"I would expect jokes like this from some of your friends Twilight but not you, if you don't want to say
find a more tactful and truthful way next time" the nurse said angrily and walked off in a huff.
Twilight was stunned for a moment and a little hurt too, she thought about what she had said, then AJ and
her turned to look at each other with knowing smiles on there face and burst out laughing.

Catching up with Pinkie who was on a bench in the hall, she caught up her three friends on what was
happening, "They rushed him into the surgery room, a little later a nurse came out and let me know he'd
be ok, he has one broken rib and three cracked ones and some internal bleeding but nothing they can't
handle"
"Want us to stay here with you?" Twilight asked softly
"No its fine, go on I just want to be alone for a bit" she said with content smile on her face.

Back in the waiting room they went and sat down, "I don't get it, she looks fine and happy, Why hasn't her
mane poofed up again like the other time at her surprise birthday party?" Dash asked
"I'm not sure her mane will ever poof up again." both ponies looked at Twilight in disbelief at this statement.
"Why wouldn't it?" AJ asked
"Our memories define us as a person, with these new ones or should I say old unlocked memories Pinkie
is gonna change, I'm not saying she'll no longer be Pinkie Pie, she still will be just a little different. We've
seen her go through several transformations in reaction to different things but even though we've seen her
hair go straight before and it meant depression and loss doesn't mean that's the only things that would
cause it. I think this time it's a way of showing a growth into maturity in her mind, she's always been like a
kid in a grown body but I noticed on the way here in little ways her acting like a grown confident and mature
pony. To put it simply I think Pinkie has finally grown up and will, well be more like the rest of now."
Both her friends ears were laid back tight to their heads, "You mean we'll no longer have our hyper partying
friend? has she finally run out of energy?" Dash whispered.
"That is a strong possibility" Twi answered solemnly.
"Is that a good thing? or bad?" AJ asked hesitantly.
"I honestly don't know, only time will tell" all three sat quietly contemplating Twilight's answer.

" We're done know and he's stable, you can go in and see him now, he wants to see you" the nurse told
Pinkie Pie.
Pinkie hurried into the room where they had taken Sonic to rest and plopped her self next to his bed, front
hoofs hanging on the side.
"Hi" he said with a quiet smile on his face. She could see from the bandages around his shoulders that his
chest must be almost completely wrapped in bandages.
"Hi, how you doing?"
"Ok a little light headed from whatever they dosed me with but the pain is gone"
"I'm glad. how bad was it"
"Not too much so, the doctor said I'd be able to leave in four days as long as I took it easy the next few weeks"
"So what's gonna happen to us?"
"That depends on what you want"
In answer she leaned over him and pushed her lips to his. They stayed together for awhile with no interruptions
this time.
Breathing heavily Pinkie finally sat back down, "I love you, I never want to be without you again, would you move
in with me, in Ponyville?"
"Of course I will, I'll stay for all of eternity anywhere as long as it's with you"
Leaning down and locking lips again Pinkie Pie knew deep down that now everything was right in the world.

Well this is my first try at writing a story for others to read, this is not the end of this story or not the planned ending but it can end here if need be, if you liked it let me know and let me know if you want me to continue on. I'm stopping here cause I can and don't want to waist time unless I'm sure I'm doing a good enough job in entertaining all you. So let me know what I've done right and wrong. A few things I'd like to go over about my story,

Why Pinkie Pie? Of the six she would definitely seem like she should be on the bottom of a list
of characters to choose to write a tragedy about. I'd wanted to find one that had a past I could
add more depth to, Twilight was out, we'd already seen her parents and older brother, if between
that episode and the wedding her parents had died, then it would have made no sense that the
the brother and sister would not have taken a moment of remembrance with each other. Rarity's
parents we actually see in an episode and not as a flash back, Rainbow Dash was a possibility,
living in a big house in a cloud could have been gotten by Inheritance by they're passing but I
just didn't feel up to it. Fluttershy is my favorite pony and I couldn't write anything to hurt her, even
if it is all made up. Applejack was a good candidate but after reading Scorched and how perfectly
Kody910 filled in her past I didn't want to even try. That left Pinkie Pie, I had always thought of
her as the very definition of psychopath waiting to go over the deep end and kill all her friends,
especially after seeing Party of One, but knew we would never see her true face as they could
never include it in a kids show. That got me thinking what if there was a way to explain her past
and how through it she was unique and would never break down cause she was special, I
hinted at this with the story of her past and seeing the Sonic Rainboom and was planning to go
into it more in the second half of this story. But we've seen her parents, I know it's silly going
into such scrutiny over a cartoon but her story never seemed right to me. Yes there are many
strange things in Equestria, but a rock farm, really? So I started thinking what if not only had her
mind locked away her painful memories but also created new ones to fill in the gaps, once again
I'd planned to go more into this in the second half. So that's how I came to start this story, she
maybe not one of my favorite of the six she is in no way close to any characters I might hate,
In the loneliest places or the darkest she will always be a beacon of never ending happiness
and joy.

Chptr 6

Tiny fractures became cracks across the blue gems surface

A few more fragments fell collecting in a pile at the base.

Pinkie Pie opened her eyes and smiled as she saw the cyan unicorn sleeping peacefully, a
content look on his face. Sitting up from her position of sleeping on the chair, forelegs and
head on the side of his bed, Pinkie stretched and looked out the window to see it was early
morning. Resting her legs back on the bed and her head on her hoofs she just sat there
content watching Sonic's peaceful form.

She'd stayed the night despite the protest of the nurses, who eventually had to give in
unable to convince either lover Pinkie should leave. No matter what she didn't want to be
away from him now, memories of last night kept coming back to her and every time she felt
she would drown in her sorrow she would look back at him and feel a warm sensation run
through her body and memories of them together would drive away her sadness.

"Hey there" she saw a pair of caring opal eyes looking over at her, while she had been lost
in thought he had woken up.
"Hey there yourself" she answered with a happy smile.
"How long have you been up?"
"Only a few minutes"
After that they went silent and just stared into each others eyes, expressions of contentment
on their faces.

Every now and then Pinkie's friends would come and see how she was doing, Twilight had gone
and told Rarity and Fluttershy all that had transpired. Except for Rarity, who Pinkie had to
assure over and over that she was all right and that it was not Sonic's fault and if there was
any fault with him he had more than payed for it. Finally mollified Rarity had then left to get
back to her boutique. The others all expressed there concerns and sighed in relief knowing
she was fine and Sonic would have a complete recovery. Through the day Twilight stopped
by and dropped off food for Pinkie and the proper meal times.

Before they went to sleep that evening, Pinkie and Sonic both agreed it had been a satisfying
day.

The cracks spread and bits of the blue gem fell off.

A noticeable pile of rocks had now gathered at the base.

'I could get used to this' Pinkie thought smiling fondly as once again the first thing she saw when
she woke up was him sleeping.

That day he seemed much better, in a conspiratorial whisper he told Pinkie he had used a spell
he had learned from his studies that speeds up healing. He explained it only sped it up though
so he couldn't actually heal somepony with it, but had to wait till they were put together properly
before it could be cast. The side effect was he was hungrier more often as the spell fed off his
energy.

Being healthier he did less dozing today and instead enthralled Pinkie with tales of his journey
around Equestria. A few times they heard the head nurse scolding her staff to get back to work
as she caught them eves dropping at the door listening to the stories. Pinkie and Sonic smiled
in amusement at each other every time this happened before Sonic would continue his story.
Dash and Rarity were both caught eves dropping by the door too when they came to visit, then
when they were caught and came in blushing they muttered something about not wanting to
interrupt as why they hadn't come straight in. Each of them stayed for a couple stories then had
to leave for work and chores needing doing.

That evening Pinkie was lying on the bed with her head on Sonic's left shoulder much to the
nurse's dismay, but he did seem to be better and able to handle it so she just sighed and left
Pinkie alone. Looking up at Sonic she smiled "would we be considered lovers now even though
we haven't yet.......?" she trailed off blushing faintly. "I thought we already did at your house in
front of your friends?" he said teasingly. Her face turned beet red as she imagined how it must
have looked him straddling her and then when they kissed, "You dirty minded stallion!" she
squealed punching him in the shoulder soft enough so she knew it wouldn't really hurt. "Ok
sorry, bad joke, but seriously I do believe we're lovers, it doesn't matter if we ever do that, as long
as you mean it when you say you love me, I believe it's the feelings and not the actions that
define whether two ponies are lovers or just really good friends". "Good answer" she said
snuggling up to him again.

A little later Sonic woke a little after midnight as he had done the previous night, to the sound of
Pinkie crying in her sleep. Like he had done the first time he gently stroked her mane and soon
she quieted down and seemed to be having more peaceful dreams. While he was up comforting
Pinkie every now and then a night shift nurse would come in who had a little free time on her
hands and he'd be more than happy to fulfill their request of telling them one of his stories in
a soft tone as he watched over the pink mare.

Now hairline cracks went all through the blue gem so it looked like a dense network of webs
inside.

Rock size pieces were now falling off and scattering around the base.
____________________________________________________________________________

There was an air of excitement in the hospital room that morning as the head nurse looked over
Sonic one more time before she'd let him leave, Although impatient Pinkie somehow managed to
survive all this till noon when the nurse finally consented to release Sonic from her care, he first
had to promise though not to do anything strenuous or taxing for the next week and keep his
bandages (she had just replaced) on for another two days. Having assured her he would he
stepped out the hospital doors into the sunny day with Pinkie by his side. A little wobbly at first
from disuse, he got around fine on his feet with Pinkie supporting him, till he felt steady on them
again.

As they walked everypony who passed them would offer congratulations on his recovery and wish
him well.

"Does everypony know about me and what happened?" Sonic asked after the fifth congratulation.
"Probably not exactly what happened, but it's a small town so of course they'd know if one of my
friends wound up in the hospital"
"That makes sense, so where are we going?"
"First I want to stop at Sugarcube corner, then we'll go get your stuff, no arguments your staying at
my place" knowing he'd lose that fight and wanting to do that deep down anyways he just made a
sound of agreement and followed her.

"Hi! anyone here?" Pinkie shouted as she walked into the treat shop, Mrs. Cake with a surprised look
on her face stuck her head out the kitchen door.
"Oh, honey! we weren't expecting you!" she hurried over and threw her fore legs around Pinkie's neck,
"I'm sorry dear we never told you, it just never seemed to be the time, I hope you can forgive us for
keeping it from you" a few tears ran down Mrs. Cakes cheeks as she apologized.
"Nothing to forgive, you and Mr. Cake have never been wrong by me. You took me in when I needed
you and helped me become independent, there was never a time to tell me and you knew that and I
thank you for keeping the secret and everything else you two have done for me" both mares hugged
for a bit before they broke apart and rubbed the tears from their eyes, Sonic just waited nearby
patiently.
"Thanks for always being an angel dear, taking care of you has always been a pleasure, now if you
could run along I'm busy now but if you come back tonight, lets say at 7pm, then I'd like to hear all
about your prince charming over there" She said waving a leg over at Sonic who blushed briefly at
the attention.

"She seemed great" Sonic commented as they headed back out.
"She is, I don't think there could have been two better ponies I could've ended up with" she answered
meaningfully.

"Are you sure about that?" Sonic asked in surprise.
They had reached the hotel he had been staying at and after inquiring how much he owed for the room
he had been informed that he didn't have to pay for the days he was in the hospital, just pay off the
previous days.
"Yeah, you weren't using it and since we're never really full it's not like we lost money cause we needed
it for someone else. Besides your a good friend of Pinkie's and it's always a pleasure doing something
for her, even indirectly."
Still a little stunned at the hotel manager's generosity, Sonic went up stairs and came back down with his
saddlebags and paid the manager the bits he owed. Pinkie couldn't help but think how rugged his
saddlebag made him look, it was quite durable and seemed to be made to hold tools and other heavy
things. Breaking free of her thoughts she followed Sonic out and they both turned towards her house.
"Did you do something for him before?" Sonic asked curiously.
"Specifically? I can't recall but I can't stand to see anypony sad so I think I have helped most ponies in
town, several times even" she stated in a matter-of-fact voice.
Looking at her in wonder he was silent the rest of the way to her place.

Once inside and the door closed Sonic turned to Pinkie, "Glad we finally got here, I have something
for you but I was pretty positive the hotel would be the wrong place to do this."
"Something for me?"
"Yeah, I'm glad I was able to leave the hospital today I was afraid when I was first brought in that I'd be
stuck in there on this important day."
Starting to get very perplexed Pinkie asked, "Today? whats so important about today"
"Today's the anniversary of that day long ago," he said softly, "which if I remember right, it's also your
birthday."
Pinkie was quiet, not sure what to do.
"This might hurt, but I think it will bring more good than bad," he said as he levitated a frame from his
saddlebag over to Pinkie Pie, "I took from your house I thought you might want it"
Pinkie looked down at a frame of a picture, she was in sitting in the middle with a big smile on her face
and on both sides of her sat her sisters, behind them stood her parents looking down at them with love
and caring in their eyes and proud smiles on their face. Gently Pinkie reached out her hooves and took
the picture and sat down, soon a few tears splashed down on the picture and Sonic came around to sit
beside Pinkie and put his right foreleg around her comfortingly. "I'm sorry if I shouldn't have, I didn't
know what was to become of the house and property and wanted to save something special for you, if
I did wro-" he was stopped as Pinkie slowly reached back and silenced him by putting her hoof over his
mouth, "Thank You, this means more than you could ever realize, thank you so much" she laid her
head back onto his shoulder and kept gazing down at the picture.
Hesitantly he spoke up again,"there's one more thing" from his bag levitated a box wrapped in red paper
and held shut with a blue ribbon tied in a bow at the top, it appeared as if someone has sat on it,"I dug
through the remains of the silo, but this was all I could find"
She reached out and took it, at the top there was also a card, she pulled it off and in a quaking voice
read it out loud,"Too our dearest daughter who we thank Celestia everyday for her coming into our
life". Finally Pinkie couldn't take anymore, turning she threw herself into his arms and put her head over
his right shoulder and burying her head into his mane and cried. He levitated the gifts to a safe place on
the floor and gently rocked back and forth as he stroked her mane and alternately rubbed and patted her
back, "It's ok, let it out I'm here take all the time you need".

A little later they were still on the same spot on the floor but she was now leaning her back against him
tears drying on her cheeks, looking down at the gifts she looked back over her shoulder at him with a look
of wonder,"You kept these all those years?"
"Of course, I knew they'd be important to you."
She turned around and pushed her lips up against his and they were soon both lost in the kiss.
Sonic's face went beet red as the kiss was interrupted by a loud growl from his stomach. Pinkie looked
down at it in amusement then blushed also as her stomach growled back.
"Guess we've forgotten to eat today" she said with an embarrassed grin on her face.
"I guess we have" he grinned back.

While she went and made them brunch he put up the picture and present on the mantle over the fire
place. It was a quiet meal as they both contemplated what had happened the past day. By mutual
agreement after they ate they both went and sat down again, he held her while she just enjoyed the
feeling of protectiveness she felt in his embrace while she looked up at her mantle. They stayed that
way content, till, as the hour approached, he reminded her about going to sugarcube corner at seven.

Chptr 7

They entered sugarcube corner cautiously, "Did they forget we were coming and go out? I can
barely see with all the lights out." Sonic asked in confusion.
"I don't think so they never close this ear-"
"SURPRISE!!!"
Sonic and Pinkie jumped as the lights came on and what looked like almost everypony in town
leaped out of hiding.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY PINKIE PIE!!!"
Pinkie Pie looked all around at her friends and neighbors, a wide smile on her face,"Thank You!"
she managed to get out. Seeing that the party was apparently a success the ponies started to
mill around into groups and head for the refreshment tables. Twilight and the others headed
to Pinkie Pie and Sonic Boom.
"Happy Birthday Pinkie" Twilight greeted pinkie with a huge grin on her face, the others right on
her heals with their congratulations.
"Thank you all this is so wonderful, I was really surprised! this is so great!" Pinkie greeted her
friends excitedly.
"I still find it funny Pinkie, your the party pony, yet every year you forget your own birthday!"
Dash laughed.
"Yes dear, how is it that every year we're able to surprise you like this?" Rarity giggled
kindheartedly.
"I don't know, I was even reminded today that it was my birthday and still didn't expect anything,
maybe I subconsciously forget on purpose so my friends can surprise me," Pinkie answered with
a grin.
Her friends all laughed then gathered around her and Sonic and herded them into the waiting
crowd of well wishers and a wonderful atmosphere of fun.

"Bye everyone, thanks for inviting me to the party Mr. and Mrs Cake" Twilight called as she headed
out of the bake shop, it was late and she was tired and looking forward to her bed, but as she was
heading down the street Dash zoomed out to catch up with her. Slowing down so she could walk
beside Twilight, Dash matched her pace to the lavender unicorn's. "What's up Dash, is there a
problem?" Twi asked curiously.
"I'm not sure, maybe it's just me and I'm having trouble adjusting to how Pinkie is now, but did you
notice she didn't laugh all night? not so much as a snicker!"
"She's got a lot on her mind right now, maybe she just needs more time.and he seemed quite happy
are you sure she never laughed?"
"Positive, even when spike accidentally drank some soap and was coughing up bubbles she only
smiled and she didn't even stay for the whole party! Sonic and her left about 45min. ago, since
when isn't she the last to leave?"
"Hmmm your right Dash, thanks for bringing your concerns to my attention I'll see what I can find
out, but unfortunately I'm bushed and need to hit the hay now" Twi finished with a yawn.
"That's cool Twi, get some sleep, see you tomorrow." Dash took off in the direction of her house

Once again Sonic stroked Pinkie's mane as she cried softly in her sleep, but this time he also held
her in his arms as they both lay in Pinkie's bed. She had insisted they share it and he'd been unable
to protest, they'd then snuggled for awhile and it had gone no further before they had both drifted off
to sleep and Sonic had been completely content with that. Pinkie's breathing finally started to slow and
soon a look of peace once again came across her face as she drifted into normal sleep again, Sonic
smiled and let sleep take him again too.

As more and more bits broke off bits of color seemed to be seen in the parts uncovered.

"Rainbow Dash!"
Dash yawned and reluctantly got up off her bed and headed to the door, soon her head could be seen
down below as she peeked over the side of her head to see who disturbed her.
"Pinkie?" Dash yawned, "why are you disturbing my nap?"
"Sonic needs to blow something up and thought you'd like to help us out."
All the sleep from Dash's eyes as they suddenly sparkled with excitement. "I'll be right down!"

Pinkie and Sonic walked side by side as Rainbow flew around them energetically thinking about how
cool this was going to be, when suddenly she remembered what else she'd been pondering the last few
days, "Hey Pinkie! wanna hear a joke?"
As they made their way out of town Dash told joke after joke and slowly felt frustration build as the most
she ever got out of Pinkie was an amused smile. Sonic would snicker now and then and even laughed
out loud at one, but this only seemed to depress the pegasus more. Dash stopped trying as they reached
an empty field out of town that Sonic thought would be a good place. Spreading out a blanket on the
ground he levitated bits and pieces out of his saddlebag and spread them out on the blanket. Dash and
Pinkie stared at them curiously. He tried to explain the purposes of everything to the mares but they only
seemed to catch on to half of what he was saying.

After he had assembled what looked like a small brown package he had Dash go and plant it near the
base of a dead branch on a tree. When he was satisfied they were all at a safe distance a way, Sonic
shouted, "Fire in the hole!" and his horn lit up, seconds later there was aloud bang and flash of light on
the branch and it was propelled away from the tree to fall on the valley floor.
"That was awesome! what are we gonna blow up next?" Dash exclaimed excitedly.

The three friends spent the rest of that afternoon setting of explosives on rocks, dead branches and bare
pieces of earth till there was just one more. Any ideas on how to stick one in a cloud?" Sonic asked Dash.
"The only things I lnow how to stay on clouds is pegasus tears and pegasi"
"Would pegasus spit work?" Pinkie asked.
"I've never tried that, let me see" Dash zoomed up into the sky and hovering over a cloud, let one rip. Below
the other two ponies didn't see anything come out the bottom of the cloud.
"It works!" Dash said happily as she rejoined her friends.
Sonic was sticking four sticks in the explosive, one on each corner,"Here spit on these" he said holding it
out to Dash. The sticks covered in spit, Dash flew back up and when Sonic signaled her, dropped it in the
cloud and flew off to a safe distance. "3, 2 1.....here we go!" Sonic's horn lit up again and the cloud
disappeared in a loud bang and flash of light, Harmless pieces of what was left of the brown package
drifted down, one of them landed on Pinkie's forehead and she suddenly fell backwards and her eyes
closed.
"Pinkie!" Sonic exclaimed in concern and Rainbow immediately started back to check on her friend. Before
Dash got back to them Pinkie's eyes opened and she shouted,"Gotcha!". Knowing she was okay Sonic softly
chuckled but it was more heavy with relieve than it was amusement.

Dash had stopped and was watching the two now as Sonic helped Pinkie up onto here hooves. Dash could
now see how that could be a funny joke, but it seemed a little on a morbid side of funny and she was shocked
that Pinkie would do a prank like that. All the way back to town the trio were silent all lost in their own thoughts,
at the edge of town Dash thanked them for the great time and flew off towards the library.

"I'm telling you Twi something's wrong, no matter what I tried I couldn't make her laugh and you don't even want
to know about the prank she pulled on me and Sonic!"
"Did somepony get hurt!?!?" Twilight blurted out
"No, it didn't hurt anybody it was just...creepy" Dash shuddered.
"What do you want me to do Dash? except for this one thing she seems fine and happy. Do you think Sonic is
bad for her?"
"No!"Dash cried out,"I mean no, Sonic is great and anypony can see that he's good for Pinkie, she loves him
and he loves her and he makes her happy, I'd never want to take him from her, but couldn't you, I don't know,
suppress her memories again?"
"I've actually been looking into spells that could do that, but so far I can't find anything strong enough that
wouldn't just be undone the moment she saw something from that day, like Sonic. Besides she'd have to agree
to it, I wouldn't do something like that without her permission. They maybe painful but they are her memories
and her life, we can't be sure she'd be willing to lose them again. I'm sorry Dash, but I think we might just have
to accept this and go on with our lives". Twi said with sad look on her face.
"Your probably right Twi, I just hate it though! well it's getting late, I gotta go, see ya let me know if anything else
comes up that might work."
"Will do Dash, take care."

The right side at also now fallen away and only a shard of the blue gem remained.

A few furred claws flexed and a scaled toes explored their new freedom.

Ever since Sonic had been released from the hospital no pony had seen Pinkie Pie
and him away from each other. A friendly joke going around town now was whenever
you needed to refer to one of them, didn't matter which, you'd say Sonic Pie, Have
you seen Sonic Pie today, Look there's Sonic Pie and so on. Which is why Twilight
was so surprised when Sonic Boom came into her library looking for her and as she
waited a moment, she realized Pinkie wasn't coming in after him.

"where's Pinkie Pie? is everything okay?" Twi asked concerned.
"Everything is fine, she's at the house I told her I was running out to get her a surprise
lunch so I need to be quick" Sonic assured her.
""Okay, what did you need to talk to me about?" asked casually trying to hide the
curiosity at what he'd want to hide from Pinkie from showing.
"I need you help setting something up on the edge of town"
"What is it?"
"A surprise for Pinkie, I want to do something big so Pinkie will always remember the
moment I propose to her"
"I don't think no matter how insignificant a thing you did Pinkie would ever forget the
moment you proposed to her."Twi said with a knowing smile then stopped as the words
caught up with her,"WAIT! your proposing to Pinkie Pie! when?"
He chuckled happily at her reaction,"Tomorrow night."
"Where? can I come?"
I'll ask tomorrow at dinner, I'm gonna take her to that restaurant with the outdoor patio,
if her friends just happened to coincidentally show up there the same night to have
their own dinner I wouldn't be offended."
"Oh this is so exciting, I'm so happy for you, I need to go tell the others, wait! what did
you need me to do?"
Taking some supplies out of his saddlebags he told her where to put them and how to
set them up. Assuring she'd be able to do it, she hid the stuff in a corner of the room
till she could get to them later.
"Once again thanks Sonic for letting me be part of this and con-"
"Twilight have you seen Sonic?" Twi's head whipped around to look at the door as she
heard Pinkie's shout and sure enough a moment later Pinkie appeared i the doorway.
"Oh Pinkie! we were just........." Twilight's hasty explanation trailed off as she looked
back over and found Sonic was gone.
"We? who are you talking about Twilight?" Pinkie asked confused looking around at the
empty library.
"Oh just Spike, I was just about to say we've been working all morning and haven't seen
Sonic when a sudden thought relating to my work distracted me."
"Okay, well I'll let you get back to that and please let me know if you see him."
"Will do Pinkie, thanks for stopping by" called after Pinkie's retreating form,"phew! that
was clo- eeeep!" Twilight jumped back as Sonic suddenly appeared back where he had
been.
"Sorry for scaring you Twilight, it's just a invisibility spell I learned on my travels, I'm
completely unseeable as long as I don't move."
"That's amazing, I'd love to see how it's done" Twilight said getting excited.
"Another time, I promise, but right now I need to get back to Pinkie, see ya Twilight, I'm
counting on you" he called back as he hurried out of the library.
Watching the cyan unicorn run off disappointedly Twilight longed to ask him more questions,
but she understood he had to go. Turning back to her work she suddenly remembered why
he came, 'I need to go tell my friends!' she thought excitedly as she rushed out the door.

The final bits of the blue gem fell into the pile and it faded to grey now resembling nothing
more than a pile of pebbles.

"Oh that feels so much better!" Discord said as he stretched again,"I need to stop doing
that, getting turned to stone is just so restricting" Looking around him at the garden and
it's statues Discord sighed,"are they really that unimaginative, I mean this is the same place
they put me last time! Now that I think about it no ones here, how'd I get out?"
Curious he decided to investigate, inching sideways he disappeared and reappeared in
a sealed room. Going over to a safe box he easily opened it and looked inside,"Now that's
interesting, very interesting," he said laughing as he put the safe back and disappeared
again.

"Twilight wake up!" Twilight came to in surprise as Spike frantically shook her.
"huh what? Spike what is it? what's the rush?" she got out groggily rubbing her eyes.
"I just got a letter from Princess Celestia, It has the word urgent written on it!"
Twilight sat up and took the scroll from Spike and still a bit tired but waking up more and more
quickly as eh read it aloud,"Dear Twilight, I'm sorry to send word of such bad news but Discord
is free again. A guard discovered what was left of his prison this morning. I need you to get
your friends immediately and come to Canterlot to get the elements of harmony. Princess
Celestia."
This is horrible Spike!, when is the next train to Canterlot?"
"in about an hour and a half I think"
"We need to hurry go let Rarity and Pinkie know what happened and let them know to meet me
at the train station pronto! I'll get the others." not even bothering with the door Twilight teleported
herself from her bed right outside and took off for Apple Acres.
In under an hour the six and Sonic were waiting to board the train, they'd all be informed what
little Twilight knew.
"How could this happen?" Dash asked for like the dozenth time.
The others just ignored the question at this point, the group was a tense knot of worry the whole
way to Canterlop nearly exploding out of the train car went they reached their location.
In no time flat they were following Celestia to the room where the elements were being kept.
"I don't know how he could have escaped but it doesn't really matter right now. First we need to
stop him, so far there have been no sightings but we all know that can't last long." the Princess
explained as she unlocked the door."Here we are girls, quick grab yo-" Celestia gasped as she
opened the box and saw inside, loosing her grip it fell to the floor and it's contents spilled out.
The others then all gasped too, on floor was Twilight's tiara and her friends five necklaces, but
the balloon shaped one, Pinkie's, was missing it's gemstone. Instead little grey rocks were
scattered across the floor.
"Could that have something to do with how Discord got free?"Dash asked in a subdued voice.
"How could this happen?"Twilight whispered in disbelieve.
The princess recovered first,"I don't know what happened but I'm gonna do my best to find out,
Twilight, you and your friends take the elements and return to pony ville, I'll send you a message
if I find out anything, while you wait check the library there, see if you can figure this out before
me." as she spoke a small pouch appeared and she used it to gather all the bits of rock into it
and tied the pouches string to the gemless necklace.

It was a gloom and subdued group that rode back on the train.
"Sugar cube, do you have any ideas what mighta happened?" Applejack asked Twilight softly.
"I'm starting to think it might be because of Pinkie Pie"
"What!" her friends all shouted turning to look at the pony in question.
Pinkie shrank back from the looks she got and Sonic moved up beside her, placing his right fore
leg over her back protectively and glared at the others with eyes daring them to upset her again.
"This is only a theory but some of us have noticed that Pinkie hasn't laughed once this past week"
"I knew it was a bad thing, I told you so!"Dash shouted.
"Quiet Dash, let me finish, I could be wrong, but I don't think so, having not manifested her element
for a weeks time she may have been removed as qualified to be that element."
They all stared at Twilight now, with stunned expressions.
"Can she get requalified?" Applejack asked hopefully.
"I don't even know if that is what happened, but if I'm right could she? I don't know, maybe if she was
actively an embodiment of it again, theoretically." Twi answered in an exasperated tone.
"You heard her Pinkie, laugh."Dash prompted as she turned to Pinkie.
"Ha, haha, hehehe"Pinkie forced out laugh after laugh but nothing happened.
They all hung there heads,"guess that theory was wrong."Rarity said sadly.
"Don't jump to conclusions yet,"Twi warned,"those were forced and unreal, she'd need to sincerely
be amused and laugh for it to work in my opinion."
"Why haven't you been laughing Pinkie? are you really still that sad?"Dash asked Pinkie, a look of
concern on her face.
"No I'm not sad, I feel happy and love," she smiled back at Sonic,"I just don't feel amused at anything
anymore, it just seems like I've been seeing the world through a pair of sunglasses and now that
they've been removed life doesn't hold the amusement it did for me before."
They all grew silent again for the rest of the trip back to town.

Getting off the train they were all immediately aware of where Discord had obviously gone. Except
for Sonic they had all seen their town in this state of chaos before.
"Maybe we should all stay together till we get this figured out"Twilight said as her eyes followed a blue
mare with a yellow mane swimming in the air.
The others didn't need convincing and they all set out bracing themselves for whatever they'd have
to face to reach the library.

Chptr 9

"I'm so bored!" Dash moaned again.
For hours the others had milled around and made small talk and attempted to amuse themselves
as best they could while Twilight searched through her books for answers to their problem.
"Just be patient Dash, we're all worried but we need to stay strong for twilight"Applejack told
the cyan pegasus.
"That's it, I've found all I can and it all comes back to the same thing, but first"Twilight closed her
eyes in concentration and her horn glowed.
There that should work all the others heard in Twilight's tone of voice in their heads
What's going on?
What's happening?
How'd Twilight do that?
Please control your thoughts! Twilight shouted in their minds trying to get over the mental
overload her friend' surprise had caused,I've cast a spell to allow us to speak mind to mind.
The others settled down and looked at Twi in amazement.
This is awesome Dash thought but why are we doing this?
Because last time we could never know when Discord was listening in on us, I'm hoping this way
we're safe from his eves dropping, although we haven't seen him yet I'm sure he's going to play
it safe and keep an eye on us to be sure we don't catch him by surprise again. Also so we don't
look to suspicious just standing around looking at each other just say random meaningless
ideas now and then, Twilight explained.
Makes sense, now what were you saying just before you cast this spell? Applejack asked
What I was saying is my earlier theory does seem to be the right one which means in order to
fix this mess we need old Pinkie back Twilight answered.
How do we do that? she already told us that just doesn't have it in her at the moment Dash
thought.
I don't know. if any of you can come up with any ideas that would be great, cause I still don't want
to rely on plan B, a memory suppression spell, Twilight finished.
Wait why don't you want to do that? it sounds perfect Rarity exclaimed.
Dash was about to chime in when she was interrupted, cause if her memories were suppressed
there couldn't be anything around from that terrible day to remind her Sonic thought sadly
That shouldn't be a problem, that happened in another town, there ain't nothin here in pony ville
that I can think of.......oh! my bad, Applejack thoughts suddenly went apologetic as her eyes landed
on Sonic.
What are you all talking about, what would remind me? Pinkie asked in concern
Me Sonic though solemnly.
As what he said sunk in Pinkie face took on a look of horror, Never! you better think up a new plan,
I already lost my family I'm not losing him too! how could you even think that Twilight! c'mon Sonic
we're leaving! if you all come up with an actual plan you can let us know otherwise leave us alone!
Pinkie turned her back on them and stormed for the door.
Pinkie wait! we need to stay together!
Sorry Twilight, I'll make sure nothing happens to her, Sonic thought apologetically as he followed
Pinkie out.
Maybe we should all get some rest, maybe some sleep and lowering of tension levels will help us see
something we missed Applejack suggested.
Reluctantly the others agreed as Twilight dispelled her magic.

Discord was annoyed and confused, he was the embodiment of chaos and discord but these ponies
were putting him to shame. Nothing they were discussing made sense! How could they even think that
a banana, a kitchen sink and singing country songs could ever be used together to effect him? To
further confuse things when toothpicks were mentioned Pinkie got pissed and stormed out followed
by Rainbow Dash. 'wait a minute!' he thought to himself as he took a double take 'Dash is right there!'
Whoever that was he hadn't seen before and it seemed to be close to Pinkie, he'd been wondering
what had happened to Pinkie, at first assuming she had died, but was dispelled of that notion when she
got off the train. This new pony was the only new thing so far which stood to 'ugh' reason 'oh how I hate
that word' that this cyan pony was the cause. As the ponies under him milled around preparing for bed
Discord scuttled his beetle from up the wall and left through a crack behind a bookshelf.

"Your friends didn't mean to upset you, you know that right?"Sonic said softly as he lay in bed with Pinkie
and tried to ignore the bedroom chair chasing the bedside table around the room.
"I know, I just got scared and needed to lash out at something"Pinkie replied sadly, "I'll apologize to them
tomorrow, I promise".
They snuggled some more till they eventually fell asleep.

Comforting her in her sleep, Sonic looked down at Pinkie as she cried a strange sadness in his eyes that
he knew something terrible but had to keep it to himself. His horn started glowing brighter and brighter,
until he brought it down to the base of Pinkie's neck, the glow transferred there for a minute until it slowly
faded away under her skin. Except for shifting a bit, she didn't react to the spell. When she had been
comforted again Sonic followed her into sleep land.

Discord knew love when he saw it and looking down as Sonic comforted Pinkie in her sleep he saw it clear
as day. Love that was a powerful emotion and could change things, 'so that's what caused her change
interesting, but love is a good emotion and eventually good emotions always seem to make things right, I
don't think I can count on love to keep Pinkie out of this, grief on the other hand, fear, and sorrow. Those
emotions I can count on" slowly he crept down the wall changing back to his regular shape as he approached
the sleeping lovers with an evil grin on his face.

"He's gone!" Pinkie screamed practically hysterical as she ran into the library, her friends all getting up in
alarm from there various places of sleep.
"Now settle down sugar cube, now who's gone?" Applejack asked soothingly, inwardly cringing as she was
all but positive she knew the answer.
"Sonic Boom! I woke up this morning and he had vanished, "she wailed as she threw herself into Applejack's
waiting hoofs and started crying on her shoulder.
All her friends gathered around the two ponies and tried to calm her down.
"Don't worry it'll be ok, just start at the beginning, what happened?" Applejack asked soothingly.
"We went back to my place and went to bed, in the morning when I woke up and rolled over he was gone, I
searched all through my house and most of town but I can't find him anywhere!" Pinkie managed to get past
her sobs.
"Please settle down Pinkie, we'll help you, I'm sure that with all of us together, there's no way we won't be
able to find him and bring him back to you."
"I wouldn't count on that Twilight Sparkle"
All six ponies jumped in surprise, Applejack and Pinkie quickly getting to their feet as they all turned to where
the voice had come from.
"Discord!" they all exclaimed together.
"Oh my it does feel so good to be remembered" Discord laughed from what appeared to be a distorted
rectangle in the air.
"What do you want?" Twilight demanded.
"Twilight Sparkle how can you be so mean? it's not what I want but what you all want" He chuckled, waving a
hand to his right where a trembling cyan unicorn was cringing in a corner.
"Sonic!" Pinkie cried.
"Don't worry I got him!" Dash shouted as she took off straight at the anomaly in the air.
"Wait!" Twilight called but was too late.
Dash reached it and flew right through to crash into a bookcase behind it. Digging her way out from under the
books that had fallen on her, Dash's eyes spun for a minute until she could focus again and behold the
disturbing sight of Discord looking over his shoulder and laughing at her from the distortion.
"Oh Dash you always know how to amuse me, as a kinda reward I think I'll let you all have a few words with
Sonic here." Discord giggled.
Slowly Sonic crept forward on trembling hooves, tears ran down his face and he started babbling,"Oh please
help me I Thought that, I mean really thought, dang I'm so scared I can't gather my Thoughts."
On the second one Twi realized Sonic was emphasizing the word thought and realized what he was trying to
say. Concentrating and hoping it would work with Sonic so far off but still visible, Twi cast her telepathy spell
again.
Can you hear me?
Yes Sonic we all can Twi thought excitedly.
Oh thank Celestia, cause I can't imagine what you'd all think of me if you didn't know this sniveling was all
an act. he thought in relief.
I don't know you seem pretty convincing maybe you aren't faking Dash teased.
Ignoring Dash Sonic turned to the others, we need to talk fast, I don't know how long we have before he gets
bored, Pinkie I know you don't want to hear this but you need to let Twi take your memories away.
No! I won't lose you!
We don't have time to think of something else, Discord likes to ramble and I've heard a lot. He needs to be
stopped, last time he was amused with all of you but not now, he's pissed and he plans to destroy something
close to each of you one at a time, after me I think he plans on doing something to Applebloom.
My sister! Applejack's eyes suddenly went wide in panic, please Pinkie you gotta help us she begged her
eyes focused pleadingly on Pinkie.
Why me? why must I always lose everyone close to me! it's not fair! Pinkie started crying again.
I know it's hard and if I could do anything to take away the pain I would but this is bigger than us, your friends
and all of Equestria are in danger, we have to help them, please do this for them Sonic thought gently.
All right I;ll do it but only cause you asked Pinkie stared at him with a haunted look in her eyes.
Twilight please continue your studies on memory and if you can ever let her know me without the pain or she
no longer needs to be an element of harmony, please promise me that you'll give her back to me
I Promise
Pinkie, when you are able to come back to me just think hard about me and you'll know how to find me
But how?
Last night I cast a spell on you so you could always find me. know this Pinkie I will always remember you and
no matter how long it takes I will always love you and be waiting for you, "goodbye Pinkie you gave me the
best days of my life."Sonic said in voice heavy with emotion.

Chptr 10

Discord was having feelings of déjà vu, once again as he watched the ponies converse he seemed to be
missing something but he didn't know what. Pinkie's boyfriend really was pathetic, ever since he had
grabbed him and brought him to this cave the coward had done nothing but beg for his life and whine.

Suddenly Discord realized that the stallion had gone quiet, looking over he was shocked to see a look
of calm and composure on the cyan unicorn. "Goodbye Pinkie you gave me the best days of my life."
What had just happened? Then they were all surprised as Sonic started to fade away till he disappeared
completely. "What just happened! where did he go!?!" Discord shouted, this was not how things were
supposed to go!
"Haven't you ever seen a unicorn give up on their will to live before?" Twilight asked in a sad voice.
"What, your telling me he killed himself?"
"Not killed, just let himself go till there was no more" Twilight answered, behind her, Twi's friends gasped
in shock, she hated doing this to them but Twi knew that their actions had to be genuine to trick Discord.
Tears were running down her face further adding to the believability of her explanation, never would he
guess the true sorrow that made her cry.
"Twilight Sparkle don't think this ruins anything for me, you aren't gonna trap me again!" The air where
Discord had been returned to normal.

Not wasting a moment Twilight turned to her friends,"Dash, Rarity come with me, Fluttershy and
Applejack take Pinkie outside and make sure she has a good view of the cliffs"
"wait a minute, was that true what you said about Sonic?"Applejack asked, Pinkie once again crying
on her shoulder.
"I'm sorry I don't have time we need to move fast, Discord could show up at any minute"reluctantly
her friends agreed with her and got into motion.

"Where are we going?"Dash asked as she followed Twilight out of the library with Rarity
"I need you to do a sonic rainboom Dash"
"Why? what's this gotta do with suppressing Pinkie's memory? why didn't you do that in the
library right now if we're in a hurry?"Dash pestered.
"Because I can't just suppress them now, I need the right conditions or she still won't be our Pinkie
Pie. When her mind starts to take away the memories it will start with the dormant related ones and
work it's way up sealing whatever she was currently welling on, in the normal way this happens the
worst memories would be locked away last meaning they were the closest to the surface. This would
mean that the feelings associated with those memories would seep through the suppression now and
then poisoning the mind, causing negative actions and emotions. Pinkie was special though, cause
of your sonic rainboom long ago, the process was interrupted and she was refocused on all the good
times, so that all the the love, affection and joy would seep through making her a better individual. We
need to recreate this event when I cast my spell, so I need you to go out to the cliffs and on my signal.
make a sonic rainboom Dash."Twilight finished both friends looking at her, eyes wide in wonder.
"You can count on me!" Dash said snapping out of it and taking off, then stopping,"What's the signal?"
"You'll know it when I send it, don't worry"
"Okay see ya!"and she was off in the distance in no time.
"What do you need me for?"Rarity asked.
"To help create fake memories, but first we need to get some stuff from your place"Twi said cryptically.

Sonic stayed perfectly still, he wasn't sure exactly how good of an effect his invisibility spell being cast
at such a slow rate had been. It seemed to have worked though, Discord had left in a foul mood, but
Sonic had stayed still, in his travels he had learned patience and had now stayed like this for over an
hour. At the cave entrance Discord suddenly peered in and looked all around then finally let out a
vexed noise and left again. Sonic finally let out a sigh of relieve and dropped the spell, still cautious
he headed out of the cave and was soon on his way back to town.

They were all in position. Dash was resting high on the cliff face, conserving energy for what she was
about to do when she heard twilight's voice in the back of her head,"Go!"
Dash took off, higher and higher she flew till she was satisfied that she had enough room.
Angling down she was soon diving to the ground gaining speed steadily a slight thrill at the feeling
rushing through her.
She was now going so fast that her lips had started to be pulled back and she felt a cone of air in front
of her hooves.
"Watcha doing Dash?"
Surprised, Dash miraculously managed not to react and ruin her momentum.
"This really doesn't seem safe"Discord what micro teleporting keeping up with Dash.
"Just go away"she manged to get out of her clenched teeth.
"Well that's just rude, I come to make sure your alright and you tell me off, you really need to improve
your manners Dash."
Dash did her best to ignore him.
"Extreme level of speed racing for the ground, your not like that cyan unicorn are you Dash, I thought you
were better than that" Discord tsked
Dash concentrated on her speed.
"You don't seem to be able to see the danger your in Dash, here let me help you."Discord said snapping
his fingers.
Dash's eyes widened in shock as the ground suddenly jumped up closer.
"There much easier to see now, I just had to bring it closer"
Dash was starting to panic, looking at the distance she still had enough room to cause the sonic rainboom
but she needed a second after it to change direction and she'd hit the ground a split second after. She
was about to abort when she suddenly thought of Pinkie, all the great times she had with the frazzled
haired pony, then she thought of her friend now and how it was up to her to bring her back. Her friends
needed her and she wasn't gonna let them down no matter the cost. Panic was replaced with determination.
"Dash I see your still set on your destructive course sadly so I guess this is farewell, I'll say something
nice at your funeral"Disorder said as he disappeared.
Dash wanted to make a witty come back but was going to fast to talk.
The cone of air stretched tighter and dash could feel resistance as the ground rushed up to meet her. 'This
is it' she thought as she closed her eyes and thought hard about how she wished she couldn't told her
friends goodbye,'Goodbye! thanks for always being there for me'. Then she felt the air in front of her tear
open and her front hoofs hit the ground.

"What is she doing!"Applejack shouted frantically.
"I don't know?"Rarity answered absently unable to focus on anything but Dash's plummeting form.
"Why would she do that! what's she thinking?"Applejack was on the verge of tears.
No one answered no one could, then she heard it in the back of her head and by the way her friends tensed
up they musta heard it too,"goodbye, thanks for always being there for me' Applejack heard in Dash's
unmistakeable tone and then there was a thunderous boom.
"RAINBOW DASH!"Applejack screamed.

A thunderous boom was heard for miles around and a circular rainbow stretched in all directions across the
sky, a beautiful testament to an amazing cyan pegasus who would be remembered forever for her greatness
and loyalty.

Chptr 11

Sonic looked up as the rainbow passed by overhead then focused on what he was doing again.
He had already been to Pinkie's and gotten his saddlebags and reluctantly taken back the picture
and present from the mantle. He was on his way now out of town but before he left he had one
more thing to do. He knew Pinkie and her friends would need all the help they could get and was
hoping he could give them just the edge they needed.

Her front hooves hit the ground and soon the rest of her passed through causing her to feel a
weird sensation through her body, startled Dash opened her eyes to see the ground below her
getting bigger by the minute,'he tricked me!' she thought angrily but couldn't dwell on it. Because
she'd missed her vector point she now had to fight to angle herself up, she battled with her body
forcing it to bend up and with an incredible amount of strength let out a bit of her wings, fighting
the whole time so they wouldn't rip open and be torn off. She fought off exhaustion and with all
her might finally was traveling parallel to the ground with only a few feet between her and it. She
took off towards pony ville trailed by a rainbow.

"She's safe!"Rarity shouted in excitement and relief.
Applejack looked up, tears running down her cheeks, having been unable to watch.
"What do you think happened? I mean one minute she's fine then the next I see determination on
her face and a look that says she wasn't gonna make it"Applejack asked shakily, as she lowered
her binoculars again, having had to see for herself that Dash was safe.
"I don't know, it did seem that way to me also, I don't know why she suddenly decided to give up
but luckily it passed and she's on her way here now!"Rarity replied smiling.

Minutes later Dash flew in circling twice till she was slowed down enough to land, "How is she?
Did it work?" Dash asked as he headed towards where she could see Pinkie and Twilight
standing together.
"We'll get to that in a minute, what happened up there?"Applejack asked in a worried voice.
"Nothing important, Discord tried to trick me, don't worry about it, now how's Pinkie Pie?" *
Looking at each other worriedly Rarity, Fluttershy and Applejack decided to let it go.
All four friends turned and looked at Pinkie and Twilight, Pinkie had a blank expression on her
face and her eyes seemed unfocused, while Twilight had her eyes shut and glowing horn pressed
on Pinkie's forehead. As hard as it had been Twilight had ignored everything around her and the
moment she saw the rainbow and sudden dazzling light on a cliff ledge she had cast her spell and
was now delving through her friends mind supervising the magic as it did it's work.

"Are you okay Twi?"Applejack asked in concern.
After the spell had finished Twi had collapsed from exhaustion but now she felt her body recovering.
"Yeah I'm fine" she said slowly getting to her feet.
"Did it work?" Dash asked.
"I don't know, let's find out" Twi said as they all turned to the pink pony standing there unmoving.
"Pinkie?" Rarity called uncertainly as they all leaned forward, suddenly they all jumped back in
surprise as Pinkie's mane exploded into curls.
They all started laughing in relieve as a puzzled pink mare slowly turned her head to look at them.
"What's going on? wow my head hurts! what's going on? how'd I get here?"Pinkie's excited voice
caused each of them to realize just how much they'd missed it.
"Oh Pinkie your okay!"Twilight exclaimed happily as all five ponies rushed forward to put her in the
middle of a group hug.
"Of course I am why wouldn't I be sillies."Although confused Pinkie was fine with going with the flow.
"hey what's this?" the pouch on Pinkie's necklace was glowing blue.
Her friends stepped back and watched in wonder that is until it didn't do anything else.
"What's the deal? why isn't it working?"Dash asked confused.
"She still needs to laugh"Twilight answered.
"Well that shouldn't be hard, how do we do that?"Dash inquired.
"Like this!"Applejack laughed as she formed some spittle on her lips and shoved her muzzle into
Dash's ear giving her a wet willie.
"Hey!"Dash yelled frantically rubbing her ear.
"That's for worrying me earlier"Applejack said smugly.
"You got her good!"Pinkie laughed and was startled as the pouch ripped open.
Like the first time the six had seen it, the pieces circled Pinkie faster and faster till they glowed
bright and melded together into a blue gem in her necklace.
They all cheered and gasped in shock as they were all thrown in different directions.
"So you got Pinkie back good for you!"shouted bursting in and sending the ponies tumbling.
"Did I go somewhere?"Pinkie asked confused.
Pausing at the question and giving Pinkie a funny look he then continued,"It won't do you any
good I'm not gonna let you stop me again"
"I don't think you have a choice in the matter! girls form up"Twilight called to her friends.
They all got into position and started to levitate, but suddenly Applejack went flying, before Discord
could send another of her friends flying, Twi put up a protective shield around them.

'This is bad' Twilight thought to herself worriedly, for the last hour every time the ponies got together
Discord would knock them out of formation, Twi was starting to get tired and didn't know how much
longer she could keep this up. Discord seemed fine, not even a little tired. They needed a
distraction, just one moment to get together but she didn't know what to do.
All of a sudden they all heard a whistling sound and then an explosion behind Discord.
"Can't distract me that easy"Discord sneered ignoring the sounds behind him and whatever all the
ponies were looking at in awe. Pinkie being shoved brought them back to the present.
As they fought more whistling and explosions were heard till suddenly Pinkie stopped and stared,
"Wow I'm in the sky! look at me I'm so big! I wonder if I bent down if I could eat Discord?"
"What?" no longer able to resist after Pinkie's response, Discord turned and stared.
Up in the sky a series of fireworks had gone off and a condensed amount of them had gone off
together so they made a picture of Pinkie's head.
"That's no-, oh crap" Discord muttered as he turned to the see the six floating ponies and Twilight
with glowing eyes at the center just about to fire,"Fine whatever have it your way" He pulled out a
pair of sunglasses and crossed his arms in front of him taking on a pose that seemed to say who
gives a shit and then he was hit and slowly became stone again.

As her friends cheered and congratulated each other Twilight looked and thought she saw a bit of
cyan at the top of one of the hills on the road out of pony ville,"Thank you Sonic, we couldn't of
done it without you" she whispered to herself,"It really was a great proposal idea, I promise you
will see Pinkie again someday, I swear I'll make it happen.

Dear Princess Celestia,

Today I learned that friendship sometimes means sacrifice. In order to do whats
best and needed for our friends we must sometimes give up that which we want most
in this world. I'll never forget this lesson that I have learned from a brave and caring
cyan unicorn who came into our midst and taught what true caring and selflessness
truly was. Sonic Boom maybe be gone but we will never forget him and all he's done
for us and Equestria.

Pinkie woke up feeling excited as usual, looking down at her soaked pillow she suddenly thought of
a cyan coat and felt a warm feeling inside. Shaking her head out how odd it was to think of Rainbow

I am not finished but decided to post this instead of keeping people waiting till I finished the last of
it, I will be adding on an epilogue when I finish it and a second author's note with some brief
explanations on why I chose somethings, a request to a fellow author willing to help out and two
deleted scenes from my story. I'll get those up as soon as possible and hope you enjoyed my story.

Epilogue

"Sonic! there's a pony at the front who wants to see you"
Sonic's ears perked up and for a moment hope rose up but he quickly quelled
it. It had been so long and he was tired of being disappointed so he played it
save from now on. Back under control he made sure nothing could go wrong
with the equipment while he was gone then headed off to see who was looking
for him.

She waited at the entrance to the construction site nervously, while waiting her
thoughts were drawn off to what had started her journey her, it had started the
day that Sweetie Belle and her friends had inherited the responsibility of the
elements of harmony. At the celebration party Twilight had come and asked her
to meet her at the library, although not wanting to leave the party, she had
been curious so had followed.
"Pinkie I've been waiting a long time for this, but I warn you it will hurt"Twilight
had said.
"What are you talking about?"
"Just know I'm here for you and I'm only doing it cause I think it's what you want
most" she'd said as her horn had glowed and touched her head, memories had
poured through her mind and images flooded her senses.
She had cried on Twilight's shoulder for over an hour when she suddenly stopped,
"Sonic's out there waiting for me, isn't he?"
Twilight had nodded.
"Do you know where he is?"
"No I don't know, sorry Pinkie, your gonna have to find him yourself"
"How?"
"Think of him."
Memories of their time together rose to the surface and she had felt a pull in her
towards the east.

Her friends had all come to wish their farewell, except Dash, but that was
understandable with how busy her new position on the wonderbolts was keeping
her, rumors were already popping up that she'd be made leader in no time
She'd smiled at all her friends seeing how kind life had been to them and
blessed them. Once again she had shook her head in wonder at the former
cutie crusaders, who would'a thought they'd come this far, she stilled loved how
well their cutie marks matched them and who would'a ever thought one of the
elements would ever be represented by a gryphon, especially one related to
Gilda!

Smiling at her thoughts Pinkie's thoughts turned to her journey here, following
the pull in her head she had passed from town to town, more often than not she
was often stopped by ponies wondering if she was the one that a blue unicorn
stallion had told them about. She learned that Sonic had stayed a few years at
each town, making a living and going out of his way to help others and make them
smile. When asked why he did it, he always replied that it reminded him of a pink
pony he was waiting for. Finding she was the one she found no shortage of help
on her journey as ponies encouraged her and gave their hopes that she would
find him soon.

Finally she was here waiting for him. Her eyes caught sight of the color cyan and
she turned her head to watch as Sonic came around the corner and froze at the
sight of her. Joy spread across his features and with a shout he galloped over to
her, throwing up his front legs he pulled her into his embrace,"I knew you'd come
someday I knew it!"
"I could never stay away forever."she said softly just enjoying the feel of his body
against hers.
They stayed together for awhile then he slowly let her go, "there's something I've
been waiting to do all these years and can't wait another moment" Sonic said
excitedly.
"What?"Pinkie asked.
Sonic closed his eyes in concentration and his horn glowed, till Pinkie let out a
surprised gasp as a portion of the air above him resolved into a rectangular
image of fireworks, she recognized them as the ones that had helped defeat
Discord,"Pinkie Pie, will you be mine forever?"Sonic was kneeling in front of
her holding a bracelet with a small circular blue gem mounted on it.
"Are you asking what I think you are?"she asked eyes widening in wonder.
"Yes, I want to be with you always, I want to start a family with you and grow old
with you."he said solemnly.
"Yes! I will but I have something to ask you,"she answered excitedly and kneeled
herself,"I come far to find you and bring you back, will you come back to pony
ville with me? there's no other place in all Equestria I want to be, except with you
of course"
"Of course I will! besides there's a certain lavender unicorn I owe a thank you to
there."
"We both owe her"
They stared into each others love filled eyes and ignored all else and they both
knew that from now on they'd always have each other and nothing would ever take
that away again.

Here is the end of my first epilogue, this is how imo all mlp stories should end, the
other epilogue is an alternate one and is what I believe is the only way imo for
a tragedy to end. Feel free to keep on reading but don't feel you have to, this
ending does tie up everything I set out to do nicely, the second one is in no way
necessary but if you do read it please lmk which one you liked best.

Pinkie sat staring down and thinking of how she got here.

The cutie mark crusaders had grown so much over the years, their cutie marks now
fit them perfectly Pinkie thought to herself as she looked over at them enjoying the
party. It was a party celebrating the six new friends who were now led, by Sweetie Belle,
the new elements of harmony. Like others at the part Pinkie kept sneaking glances
at the most surprising of the new six, a gryphon, it had been a surprise to everyone
except for Sweetie and her friends, that anything other than a pony could be an
element.
"Great job on the party Pinkie, Twilight congratulated her as she came to stand beside
her pink friend.
"I know right! everypony's so happy. I mean everpony and everygryphon, oh and
everydragon and everyallig-"
"I get it Pinkie! listen could we go over to my library? I have something I need to show
you"Twilight asked as she broke off Pinkie's ramblings.
"Sure Twilight,"Pinkie said sa she hopped after Twilight out the door.

"Pinkie I'm only doing this because I promised both of you and I truly believe it's what
you want most, Just know I'm here for you, for whatever you need"Twilight told Pinkie
in a gentle tone.
"What are you talking about, sometimes you just don't make sense sil-"Pinkie froze
as Twilight touched her horn to Pinkie's forehead and it glowed briefly. Memories
long forgotten returned to Pinkie's mind, she sat in a stupor as her mind sorted
through and organized all these new memories in her mind. Slowly comprehension
showed on her face and she collapsed onto Twilight's waiting shoulder as the grief
took her.

Awhile later she was sitting on her own and wiping the tears from her face as she once
again accepted the loss of her family, all of a sudden she had another thought,"He still
out there waiting for me isn't he?"she asked Twilight.
"Yes he is."
"Do you know where he went?"
"I'm sorry no I don't, you'll have to find him."
"How?"
"Concentrate on him, like he told you to activate his spell"
"That's right!"Pinkie closed her eyes and concentrated, but no matter how hard she
tried nothing happened,"It doesn't work Twi, what does that mean?Pinkie asked eyes
growing in panic.
"Calm down Pinkie, it's been a really long time, it probably just wore out not meant to
last this long."
"Ok, so now what should I do?"
"I'll guess you'll have to try to follow his path from years ago, I think I saw him go east,
you can start in that direction."
"thanks Twi for everything!"

She'd traveled from town to town asking about a cyan unicorn stallion, it wasn't too
hard to follow him she discovered. Everywhere he'd gone he'd stayed for awhile and
helped everypony he could while he was there, a few ponies she talked to had asked
him why he did it and heard that he did it cause it reminded him of a pink pony he
had been waiting for, these ponies always then asked if she was the one and got
really excited and happy to learn that she was going to him. Her journey finally led her
to a hospital in a town far from pony ville, a nurse let her know he had been brought
in for some internal bleeding or something like that, apparently a chest accident had
not been fully fixed and something had come loose inside him and caused further
damage. On inquiring where he was now she was directed to an address and plot
number.

So now she sat and stared down at a stone,'Here lies Sonic Boom a friend to all
ponies' was written on it. Tears streamed down her face,"I'm sorry, I never meant to
hurt you! I heard from the nurse it was your chest, this is all my fault, if I hadn-"she
couldn't finish she fell forward and shoved her head between her legs and lay there
sobbing, wracked with sorrow and guilt.

"Excuse me miss?"Pinkie slowly looked up and through her tears saw a brown earth
stallion looking down at her with concern on his face,"you wouldn't happen to be Pinkie
Pie? would you?"he asked gently.
"Yes I am, how'd you know?"she managed to get out.
"Well he gave me instructions to give this to you if you ever showed up"the stallion said
reaching back and pulling a letter out of his saddlebags."I don't know what's in it but it's
probably private so I'll just go now and leave this with you"he said giving it to her and
hurrying off. With trembling hooves she opened it,

Dear Pinkie,

First off if you've heard of what caused my passing let me assure you right now it was
not your fault, the town I came to before here I was in a construction accident. You
weren't there and couldn't of had anything to do with it so don't blame yourself. Now
with that out of the way I can get to the important stuff. I'm sorry I wasn't able to wait
for you, if there was ever any promise I never wanted to make it was that one but
unfortunately that decision was taken from me. I hope your life has been great and
I want you to continue to enjoy it, so please don't grief for me, I'll never be able to rest
in peace if i know I was causing you to cry, just remember all our good times and focus
on that and let Twilight know too that it's not her fault you didn't find me in time. I lived
a good life and met someone who even though my time with her was brief, fulfilled it
for me for the rest of my days. I love you Pinkie, I always will, please for me, live on
and enjoy the rest of your life, I'll be waiting for you on the other side to tell me all
about it. Goodbye Pinkie.

Sonic Boom

Pinkie sat clutching the letter to her chest, tears still streamed down her face, but
the guilt was gone replaced by a sad smile. She stayed there the rest of the afternoon.

It was late but she didn't want to wait, so she lifted her leg and knocked on the door.
"Coming! wait a minute!" a voice called from inside and soon the door opened and a
young yellow mare with a pink mane stuck her head out to see who was there.
"Oh my gosh! are you Sweetie Pie?!?"she exclaimed her eyes taking on a look of
wonder.
"Yes."Pinkie answered hesitantly.
"Oh wow! oh wow! I'm Flutter Bloom, I can't believe your here! Sonic told me all about
you!"Flutter was so excited she was shaking.
"So you've know Sonic Boom?"
"Know him! I've been with him for years!"she continued excitedly not noticing the look
of extreme sadness coming to Pinkie's face as her ears laid back.
"So he found someone else?"Pinkie said in a hoarse whisper.
"Someone else? Oh no! it's not like that,"Shutter exclaimed noticing Pinkie's distress,
"Sonic found me as a filly and took me in, he's like a father to me."she explained
hurriedly.
Some of her dread fading away Pinkie asked in wonder,"Father?"
"Yes, come in let me get you some tea and I'll tell you everything."Flutter said, ushering
Pinkie into her living room, loudly telling her story from the kitchen as she made the tea.
"Years ago something went wrong in the apartment building my family and I lived at and
there was a fire, I don't know how I got out, I think my dad threw me out a window onto a
bush. I just stood off to one side staring as the building my parents were still in was
engulfed in flames. Soon I noticed a cyan unicorn standing beside me, he just stood and
watched with me till he startled me by speaking,"Do you have anywhere to go? Any
family?". I shook my head no. We stared a little longer, then he turned around,"that's
enough of that c'mon your coming with me" and before I could react he levitated me up
and draped me on his back. After the town had faded in the distance he stopped under
a tree and got me down,looking into my eyes he asked me if I remembered what just
happened, I nodded, he asked if I wanted to talk about it, I was going to say no but I
suddenly felt it all catch up with me and telling him everything as I cried and sobbed, as
he held me on his shoulder and just comforted me with comforting noises and gentle
stroking of my mane. From then on I traveled with him, two days after I lost my parents
I asked him why he'd did it? Why he bothered to take and help me,"A long time ago
there was a filly like you that I left when I shouldn't have, I'm not gonna make the same
mistake twice". He raised me making sure I got everything I needed and learned all that
I'd need. Everywhere he went he'd go out of his way to help and put smiles on Pony's
faces and as I helped I discovered I loved to do that to and got my cutie mark."
She stopped talking as she brought in the tea and turned to show Pinkie her flank, A
gift basket holding a heart covered it.
"He was always talking about you. I'd heard so much that I'd been hoping to meet you
too. Then came the accident,"Flutter got quieter and Pinkie had to lean forward to
hear,"The doctors patched him up but apparently they missed something, a month
later he just got sicker and sicker, it was too late to save him, for the second time in
my life I lost a father, it took me awhile to recover but I knew the best way to honor
his memory was to continue on as he wanted me to. So these last few months I've
stayed here helping out getting work her and there, I especially like substituting at
the local school."
Both mares sat quietly, sipping their tea now and then.
"I remember one time Sonic slipped at a party I took him to and fell in the punch"
Pinkie said with some amusement in her voice.
Flutter looked up at her in surprise.
"Another time......." soon they were both sharing stories of there times with Sonic
and tales he'd told them, even if they'd already heard it they would listen intently
as the other mare told it, finding comfort in each others reminiscence.
"Flutter Bloom, come back with me to Pony Ville, my friends will love you and I
happen to know an aging mare who teaches a school who is considering finding
a replacement and settling down with a nice stallion."Pinkie pleaded with Flutter
Bloom.
"All right, I will, I pretty sure that I'll like living in the place that Sonic always told me
was the best town in Equestria.

As the years went by ponies frequently made there way to pay their respects to
Sonic boom till one day a lavender unicorn finally found the time from her busy
schedule to come herself.
"I'm sorry Sonic, I failed you, I didn't send her to you in time." Twilight said sadly
as she bowed her head over the grave. Suddenly she gasped as there was a
sudden glow before her and she felt energy being pulled from her horn.
"Hi Twilight." Twi stared in shock as Sonic Boom appeared before her, but she
realized in a moment it wasn't really him, it gave off a sense of...emptiness.
"I was hoping you'd find this. I knew a letter wouldn't do, I needed to do something
more for you Twilight so I left you this message" Twi stared in amazement as she
realized that Sonic had managed to cast a dormant spell before he died that was
activated and being sustained by her horn,"I don't want you to blame yourself
Twilight, you've done nothing wrong, I may have already passed away, but that
doesn't mean your promise wasn't fulfilled when you sent her back to me. Know
that everything you've done for us was for the best and that I wouldn't of have
you done it any other way, so if you don't accept that in no way should you feel
guilty, I'll have to come back and haunt you, believe me that can get embarrassing
if you ever find a lover. So for me let it go you've done right by me, now keep an
eye on Pinkie and Flutter for me and make sure you all live out your life's to the
fullest, goodbye Twilight, thank you for everything." Twilight felt tears on her face
as the image faded away,"Your welcome Sonic and thank you for everything"
Twilight choked out and she turned and started her way back to Pony Ville feeling
as if a weight had been taken off her heart.

Here ends the second epilogue please lmk what you thought of them, which do you

First I'd like to thank crazypony26 and arielg1284 for being the first to read my story and comment on it.

Three people so far didn't like my story, that's discouraging, but what's even more discouraging is not
a single one had the decency to comment and let me know what I did wrong so I don't cause more
hating of my writing later. Please if your gonna thumbs down my story let me know why? Otherwise
I can't improve.

There's a few parts of my story I tried out in what I thought was a clever way and would like to know how
many of them worked. First I know most of you probably guessed it rather quick, but how many of the
gem was breaking did you read till you guessed what was happening?
Second how well did my sonic rainbow scene work out, did you really think I let her die? Did it cause
you to fear for her? or did it backfire and you almost just stopped reading the story there disgusted
at me for even daring to kill Dash?
Lastly did any of you guess what I'd do in the epilogue to finish up my story?
I'd really like some feed back on these questions and to know what else you might of liked or hated that
I did so I can do better if I write another story.

Deleted scenes
the first one is right after the sonic rainboom, I wasn't sure if it really fit in or not so I decided to leave it out
let me know if you think otherwise, please
the second one takes place when Sonic's telling his story, after I finished that chapter I realized I forgot to
put it in. Since it's only real purpose in the story was to confirm that Pinkie's family was dead and wouldn't
miraculously show up later and to imply that a little weight was taken off Sonic's emotional shoulders with
the knowledge her family hadn't suffered I decided I didn't put it back in. Besides it seemed kind of morbid
to me but if you want to see it continue on after the other deleted scene.

"No Dash tell me what happened now!" Applejack said in a firm no nonsense voice
"Fine! Discord tricked me, I thought he had moved the ground up and I wouldn't be able to pull up"
"And you continued to try it anyways!"AJ exclaimed.
"Yeah I couldn't let you all down, we needed Pinkie, I couldn't give up"Dash answered defensively.
"What good would it have done us if we had got back laughter and then lost loyalty!"
"I hadn't thought of that."Dash said quietly, but AJ continued on
"More important what made you even think that we could stand to lose you, whether you were an
element or not, did you even stop and think about how we'd all feel if we lost you! We could'a
tried again or found some other way, you didn't have to sacrifice yourself for us! Promise me
Dash! promise you'll never do something like that again!"AJ shouted as angry tears of worry
ran down her cheeks.
"I promise AJ, I wasn't thinking and I'm sorry"Dash mumbled,"Now did it work?"she asked in a
hopeful voice.

"After the first trip back to her farm I went and broke into the morgue, in the coroners office I found
the files on her family. Inside I found the reports and pictures of them all that I forced myself to look
at. I was relieved to find that the explosive had sent the inside of the silo into a central area of speared
metal that killed them all instantly. although still guilty of what I'd done, at least they hadn't suffered
from my mistake.
