So I don't think this is what any of you were expecting for my return but not to worry, if this isn't you then I've got something much tamer also in the works. Still, all the same read and review, please?

Spike honestly hated summer a little bit. Sure, school was out and all and he would relish the fact but the simple fact of the matter was it was way too hot out. Plus, the air was dry and there was that little too much pollen in the air.

“Eh, no biggie,” Spike said, fetching the ice pack out of the cooler. “Here, just sit down for a moment. Well, you look fine enough I suppose. I don’t think you have a concussion or anything.”
“Nah, I feel okay. I just, well you’re right I need to sit down. But not here, like this is a beach and I just don’t want to not enjoy it, you know?” Sonata beamed. “Here, follow me!”
She, with an ice pack still on her forehead, led Spike down to another part of the beach and sat down on a towel.
“Sonata!” someone else shouted, undoubtedly her sister by the look of her. Wow, she was beautiful Spike thought as he swallowed. Like an 80s starlet, especially with that hair! “Are you alright?”
“Like an angel fallen from heaven…” Spike thought to himself, sweating and not from the heat.
“No no, it’s fine. Just a stray volleyball, that’s all.” Sonata waved her off, dismissively.
“A stray… He didn’t do it, did he?” the older sibling practically growled, her voice like a mother lion. “Do I need to kick his ass for you?”
“Dagi, please no! He’s fine, he’s cool. He helped me, so kind and so generous!” Sonata rose up to defend.
“He has a name,” Spike said before sighing. “It’s Spike. Sorry for that outburst, I don’t know what came over me.”

“It’s almost romantic in a way, you know almost,” Adagio said, still sipping her Strawberry Sunrise. “I say almost because you and I aren’t in a relationship, though… say, I wouldn’t mind if we were. You’re a good guy, Spike.”
“You sure it’s not just the wine talking?” Spike laughed.
“Oh no, I’m not drunk speaking. I’m barely even tipsy at that,” Adagio replied. “Please, I know how to watch my liquor. Want some?”
“Nah, my parents would kill me,” Spike said.
“Oh, fine. More for me then. Be that way,” Adagio said, raising her glass for another sip. “Be another stick in the mud!”
“I’m not-!” Spike tried to protest.
“Oh please, you look like the guy who's never taken a risk in his life. Never been daring, not even a little bit,” Adagio snarked. “Like you play it safe with your life, stick to curfew and all that.”
“Is that a challenge?” Spike practically growled.
“Oooooh, fearsome. There’s that spark that I was looking for!” Adagio said, gently shoving him away. “Let’s say you and I go on a little adventure eh? What’d you say? Like I still need to thank you for caring for my sister anyways and you deserve a little bit of a treat. That is, unless you’re too scared huh homeboy…?”

Old ruins were rising from the sands, ancient stonework gently pulling itself out of the jungle canopy. It had to be hundreds of years old, vines beginning to creep up the sides. It looked a bit like a castle, and indeed what could have been a tower rose up above everything else.
“I discovered this place a while back while swimming. This must be it, you’ve heard the legends right?” Adagio asked. “About the old stone tower, the old lighthouse that was nearly destroyed in a storm?”
“Y-Yeah, I’ve heard the stories but… I thought they were only that, stories at least to an extent. Something this old, I was sure it had collapsed,” Spike said, unable to stop that rush of excitement from returning. “W-Why has nobody even found this place by now? Well, anyone besides you I mean?”
“Well, nobody really comes out this far, not really. They think the good stuff is further up the beach,” Adagio said. “Well, that’s a lie really. It’s honestly a bit of a shame, nobody to share this place with… until now, Spikey.”
“I mean, I guess it’s actually a good thing if you think about it,” Spike murmured. “If people knew this still existed… it’d be swarmed with tourists.”
“Oh, I guess you’re right. My little secret spot won’t be such a secret anymore…” Adagio sighed sadly, the two making their way up out of the sand and onto soft gentle grass. “I guess it’ll have to stay between us then, you promise not to tell anyone don’t you?”
Feeling the cool blades beneath his feet, Spike nodded. “...why would I want to ruin this place for you? It’s awesome! I’m honestly sorta shocked you’re even showing this to me.”

Spike picked up the pace, running towards her, his heart beating again like it had only once before.
