Claire's pov

We reached the principal's office and Dusk knocked.

"Come in"

When we entered we saw Principal Solaris looking through my folder, when he looked at me he closed it quickly "Claire? this is quite a surprise. You didn't show up for your classes earlier we thought you were sick"

"Sorry sir, I missed my alarm clock and I woke up late. Then my cousin came to visit so I brought him here."

"I see...Well Claire since, this is your first time being late, I'll let you off this time but make sure it doesn't happen again," he said which makes me sigh in relief

He turned his head and looked at Dusk "Now then, who are you?"

"My name is Dusk Shine and I'm a distant cousin of Claire"

"Her parents are staying at our house for a while and they didn't want her to stay home. I was wondering if you could allow her to enrol in the school please," I asked.

"This is a strange situation but I will allow him to stay, considering her family issues. Welcome to Canterlot High Mr Shine," he smiled at him.

Dusk's face light up "Thank you, Principal Solaris. By the way Principal Solaris, I understand that Butterscotch found a crown this morning and gave it to you."

"Yes, I've had had vice-principal Midnight put it somewhere for safekeeping. No idea how it ended up in the front lawn. Were you interested in running for Prince of the Fall Formal this year"

"Uh, no. Not exactly. The truth is...Well, the truth is I...You see, the crown is actually..." I hit his foot, which grabs his attention 'Prince of the fall Formal' I mouthed at him. He looked confused "Prince of the Fall Formal?"

"It's Carntlot High's big fall dance," Principal Solaris answered.

"Like the Grand Galloping Gala"

The Principal looked confused "Uh, Grand Galloping Galla?"

"Oh it's just something that they did in his old school," I answered while nudging the guy beside her.

"And was there a prince?" The Principal asked.

"Yes but he wasn't exactly human," Dusk answered, I mentally faced palmed.

"Here at Canterlot High, the students select one of their peers to represent them. He receives his crown at the Fall Formal," Principal Solaris explained while showing pictures of Sunburst through the years that he's won the Fall Formal.

'He looks meaner in the last two pictures and his last picture looked like he conquered the world. I really don't get the hype of winning the Formal dance but this year its different it involves magic.'

Dusk shine spoke up while we walked out of his office "Hmm. You asked me if I was interested in running for Prince. Can anyone run?"

"Yes. You just need to let the head of the Fall Formal planning committee know you'd like to be on the ballot. Oh and Claire"

"Yes," I turned towards him.

"Dusk will be in your classes so show him around and take him to Bubble Berry and I'll need you tomorrow after school to sort something out for the Formal." He hands Dush the same schedule as mine. "Now move along you two and if you need anything else, my door is always open," He then slams the door shut.

I peek through the door which caught the principals attention "Are you okay?" I asked.

"Yes, I'm fine. It's just that I have a lot of work, so no need to worry. Now run along," he said with a fake smile.

I closed the door and head into the hallway and spike pops his head out of the bag.

3rd pov

~in the hallways~

Barbra looked at Dusk "Dusk, Why didn't you just tell him the crown was yours and ask for it back?"

"Oh. I was going to, but imagine if one of them showed up in Equestria saying they came from a place with tall, flesh, two-legged creatures with these?" He started gesturing to his hands and even lifted his leg to make a point "We'd think they're crazy!" Just across the hallway Micro Chips saw this and turned away quickly like he saw nothing.

Barbra hummed "You make a good point"

"Looks like if I want my crown back, I'll have to become Prince of Canterlot High Fall Formal. So that's what I'm going to do!" He lifted his and looked very determined.

"And how exactly do you plan on doing that?"

"I have no idea!" He exclaimed with his hands still in the air with the same expression.

Claire giggled "It will be hard because you're running up against Sunburst and he manipulates and bullies people to get what he wants. However your opposite from him so all you have to do is be yourself and I'll be there to help you get your crown back."

Dusk looked at her almost in tears and hugged her "Thank you, Claire"

She hugged back "No worries its what friends do." They broke free from the hug.
