The Impact of Humans on Ponies

Spike At Your Service

Previous Chapter

Out of all the humans who ended up in Equestria, Valerie barely made an impact on the world. This was mostly due to her hiding away most of the time. If anything, she was like a rumor, always on everyone's minds but hard to prove if she was real or not. But asking most of the heroes who saw her could confirm that she was indeed real, just hard to find. Many ponies did want to find her to welcome her, but the heroes said not to. Especially Zenix and Xavier who were very adamant about doing that. Even Pinkie, who seemed to understand she was the lonely type. Of course, Valerie couldn't avoid meeting any new ponies as Xavier, Alex, and Zenix were bring Rainbow over who recently returned from the Wonderbolt training camp.

"I swear Rainbow, this is the second time you missed a new human." Xavier commented.

"Yeah. You guys come up to visit and give a care package and suddenly you drop the news that a new human is in town!" Rainbow grumbled.

"Honestly, you aren't missing out on much." Xavier groaned. "There isn't much to say about her other than what I've already told you." As Xavier grumbled to himself, Rainbow floated over to the other two.

"Is he always like this?" Rainbow asked.

"From what ay've seen, yeah." Alex shrugged. "Ay've only met her once honestly, an' she's quite... unique."

"And as someone who's known both of them before even coming here, yeah." Zenix confirmed.

"...Alright." The four kept moving to the watering hole, and before long they reached their destination. Fortunately for them all, they saw a fire going by Valerie's camp.

"Looks like she's here for now." Zenix said. "Come on, Dash. We'll introduce you to her." The four approached Valerie, the girl roasting some vegetables. "Valerie, nice to see you." Zenix greeted, the ninja barely looking up.

"...Hey."

"Still as social as ever." Zenix nervously laughed. "Anyway, we wanted to introduce you to a friend that wasn't here when we saw you last. Say hello, Dash."

"With pleasure." Rainbow agreed, flying up front. "Nice to meet you. The name's Rainbow Dash, the fastest pony in Equestria!"

"Cool." Valerie said, still not impressed as she continued to work with the fire, much to the pegasus's ire. She flew back over to the guys and began to whipser.

"What is with this girl?" Rainbow questioned. "Does she react to anything?"

"You'd be surprised." Xavier and Zenix answered simultaneously, freaking out Alex and Rainbow.

"Has anyone synced their answers that hard?!" Alex asked.

"Well, is there anything we should know?" Rainbow asked.

"Just leave her alone." Xavier said. "It's better to let her do her own thing unless you need her for something."

"The more you interact the more likely she will avoid you." Zenix added. "Trust us, just leave her alone."

"...If you say so."

"Though, when ye say ta let her do her own thing, maybe put some restrictions. We don't wanna have another incident like what happened with Cali." Alex said, getting sweat drops from the humans.

"I can't blame her for what she did... but she went a bit too far for someone just sitting in the kitchen." Zenix sighed.

"It was early in the morning." Alex retorted.

"I digress." Xavier said. "Valerie's someone who prefers to be alone to the point she will avoid others if they are too persistent, so try not to get on her nerves."

"Alright." Rainbow agreed. After one last look at Valerie who didn't even react to them, they decided to leave Valerie.

Afternoon

Valerie's day-to-day was pretty simple. Sneak around town to find things she could use and laze about somewhere. Sometimes it was her own hammock, but other times somewhere out of view like a tree. Overall though, Valerie didn't have much to complain about. Well, she did have to find some money since she had none, but she could work that out later. For now, she would take today to laze about in her hammock. As she laid in it however, a strange shadow floated in front of her eyes.

"Hmm...?" Valerie looked up, seeing a hot air balloon floating around. Most wouldn't care, but Valerie noticed that there wasn't anyone inside. She also noticed that it was slowly floating down into that dangerous forest some ponies talked about. As she lost sight of it she sat up, hopped out of her hammock and walked in the direction of the balloon. Unlike everyone who learns about the Everfree Forest, she didn't even take a moment to look at the entrance before walking in, her hands within her hoodie pocket. After some time walking she heard a scream, so she picked up the pace by a bit. A few moments later she heard some barking, so she followed the sound. Once she stopped, she saw three wolf-like creatures made from wood cornering the dragon she saw around town. With a sigh, she pulled out a shuriken from her pocket and tossed it at the lead wolf, the blade sticking to the face of the wolf and diverting their attention at her.

"Over here, dumbasses." She said nonchalantly, twirling a kunai in her hand as it stopped in a backhanded position. The wolves growled at the interference, taking a step towards her as she hopped down from her perch. The three wolves lunged her, the ninja nimbly dodging by a hair. As the third wolf attacked, she delivered a slash with her kunai that started at the jaw of the wolf as she dodged, slicing a large part of the wolf off. As the wolf she hit was trying to recover, she threw the kunai at the forehead of the wolf, the kunai piercing the wood and causing the wolf to collapse. The two other wolves growled and rushed her again, this time Valerie dashed off to the right when they reached her. The wolves tried to chase, but when they turned Valerie wasn't there anymore. As they tried to find her, one of them was suddenly nailed by multiple stars onto its side before Valerie dropped in and stabbed the neck with her kunai, crumbling it. Jumping back towards Spike, the last wolf rushed them. Valerie didn't react however. As it ran at them, the wolf started to stagger to both the wolf and Spike's confusion. That's when they noticed that there were a large amount of caltrops littering the area, basically pinning the wolf. As it was trying to find a way around them all, Valerie ran up close, dodging all the spikes littered about and sending a kunai slash uppercut to its neck, decapitating the wolf and destroying it, making the area safe.

"You okay?" Valerie asked Spike as she pocketed the kunai and began to pick up the multitude of caltrops that were littered about.

"Huh? Oh! I'm okay." Spike answered, getting over the shock of watching the carnage that was created.

"Good."

"Are you... the new human in Equestria?" Spike asked, walking over and picking up a few caltrops.

"Yeah. Name's Valerie." She said simply, taking the caltrops off of him.

"Why are you here?"

"The balloon." Valerie answered. "I was curious about it. Didn't want someone dead though."

"Well, thanks for saving me." Spike thanked.

"...Don't waste your breath. I was just passing by." Valerie said, picking up the last caltrop. "Where's the balloon. Might as well bring it back."

"Oh, it's this way!"

Later

With the help of Valerie, the two brought the balloon back to town and back to the owner. Once the balloon was returned, Valerie began to walk away.

"That's done. See you." Valerie said to Spike, the dragon following her.

"W-wait! Is there anything you need done?" Spike asked.

"No. See you."

"But you saved my life!" Spike declared, Valerie stopping to look at the dragon. "I need to repay you for what you did!"

"...I was just passing by." Valerie told him. "You can just go away."

"This is something I need to do!"

"...Fine. You can go find me some lunch." Valerie gave in.

"You got it!" Spike said excited, running off to do just that.

"Finally." Valerie sighed, walking back to her camp to relax. Once she got back, she began to stoke her campfire to make sure it doesn't go out. As she was working on her fire however-

"I got you lunch!" Valerie looked up to see Spike running over with a basket. Valerie sighed at seeing him, but she should have expected him to find her since she asked him to get lunch.

"Thanks." Valerie thanked, taking the basket from Spike and looking inside to see a bunch of sandwiches. As she looked inside, she noticed that there was a few too many for her to eat as she took one out. She gave it a look-over, seeing that it was very well made, and offered it to Spike. "Here."

"What?! I can't accept that!" Spike tried to reject. "I made those to repay you-"

"And I can't eat them all." Valerie stated, practically shoving the sandwich into his claws. "Take it." Reluctantly, Spike took the sandwich as Valerie took out another for herself. The two ate for a while, watching the fire and enjoying the nice weather. But of course, time goes on and soon enough, the sandwiches were finished off. "Alright, you've paid me back. See you."

"What!? We're not even yet!" Spike declared as Valerie was getting into her hammock, getting a quiet groan out of her. "I must insist that I assist you further!"

"Why?" Valerie groaned as she left her hammock and stood above Spike. "What grand duty do you think you're fulfilling?"

"The code of the dragon!" Spike declared, burping up a scroll.

"Code of what?"

"You saved my life!" Spike began, reading from the scroll. "According to the 'Spike the Dragon Code', I owe you a life debt and must serve you."

"...Seriously? This trope?" Valerie groaned, slumping down. "I don't need anyone to 'serve me'. Besides, don't you have that purple pony to take care of? Twilight, was it?"

"Huh, you're right." Spike remembered, blowing fire onto the scroll. "I better break the news to Twilight. I just hope she doesn't take it too hard... Be right back!" Spike then ran off, leaving Valerie alone again.

"Hmph." Valerie huffed, returning to her hammock. Once inside of it, she fell asleep almost immediately, a bubble coming out of her nose as she slept. After a while though, she was interrupted from her peaceful sleep.

"She said it was okay." Spike said suddenly, waking Valerie up as the bubble popped.

"She what?" Valerie tried to understand, though she wasn't liking where it was going.

"She gave me her blessing." Spike confirmed, the ninja groaning as she saw where this was going. "So, with Twilight's blessing, I'm free to follow my code and serve you until, Well, until forever!" Valerie did not look happy.

The Next Day

As the sun rose on a new day in Ponyville, Valerie was in no hurry to get anything done as she was still fast asleep, bubble growing and shrinking as she breathed. But her peace would be broken yet again.

"Miss Valerie!" A voice rang out which woke Valerie. Sitting up, Valerie saw that Spike was running over to her yet again. "I have returned to serve!"

"Grrr..." Valerie groaned, slouching at his declaration. She reached into her pocket and tossed a small ball. After a few moments it exploded into a cloud of smoke, blinding Spike. Once the smoke cleared, Valerie was nowhere to be seen.

"Miss Valerie?" Spike asked, running off to find her. Shifting the scene, Valerie could be seen walking over to a tree near town, taking some time to climb up it. As she laid in one of the lower branches to finally rest however-

"Miss Valerie! I found you!" Spike called out to Valerie from below, the ninja looking annoyed at him. She wasted no time to hop higher up into the tree, shaking a few leaves off of it. "Wait for me!" Spike called, starting to climb up to follow. As he looked around the tree however, he noticed that she wasn't anywhere to be seen, even as he reached the top of the tree and looked out into the landscape. This time when looking at Valerie, she was on the top of a building in Ponyville, looking down below.

"This kid is persistent..." Valerie growled, keeping an eye out. As she did, she groaned yet again when she saw Spike running closer.

"Miss Valerie!?" Spike called, trying to find her. Valerie ran across the roof out of sight of him, hoping to shake him off for good. But no matter where she tried to hide, Spike always seemed to manage to find his way nearby. After a while Valerie rushed over to the human household, and after a quick look-around to make sure Spike wasn't going to see her, ran inside.

"Valerie?" Valerie looked over at those inside, seeing Zenix, Cali, and Flint. "What are you-"

"If someone asks if I'm here, tell them I'm not." Valerie said in a slightly demanding tone, running into the kitchen to hide. Before anyone could ask, they heard a knock at the door. Answering the door, Zenix saw that it was Spike.

"Hey Zenix. Have you seen Miss Valerie?" Spike asked.

"Miss?" Zenix returned with raised eyebrows.

"Yeah. I'm looking for her so I can serve her."

"Serve- oh..." While the other two humans were confused, Zenix had a face of understanding. "No, haven't seen her recently. That's just her though."

"Shoot. Well let me know if you find her!" Spike said, running off to find Valerie. Unbeknownst to him, she was in the kitchen, Zenix walking over.

"He's gone. You're good for a while." Zenix said, Valerie peering around the corner with annoyed eyes.

"What the heck is going on?" Cali questioned.

"The dragon's trying to be my servant." Valerie stated, walking over to the couch and jumping into it, putting her head onto the armrest.

"...I'm sorry what?"

"Yesterday I saved him from these wood wolf things and apparently it's some code that he has to serve some life debt or something."

"Wait, are you talking about timberwolves!?" Cali shouted.

"Three of them."

"Y-you saved Spike from three timberwolves!?"

"They weren't durable."

"Dura- wait you beat them!?"

"I can believe it." Zenix shrugged. "She's actually terrifying when she's actually fighting."

"B-but it took three of us to beat one!" Cali shouted.

"Maybe we should get back on topic." Flint suggested.

"Yeah. We're going to have to get Spike to give up." Zenix stated.

"Huh? Why?" Cali asked.

"You remember that I said she's a recluse, right?" Zenix asked like the topic wasn't lying in earshot.

"Is it okay to-"

"She could care less about others talking about her, trust me." Zenix cut off. "She's been called profanities with her nearby."

"...I see..."

"Anyway as time goes on with Spike trying to interact with Valerie, the more she's going to avoid him. It won't take long for Valerie to avoid Spike all together, and I would rather avoid that."

"You know her best, I guess." Cali shrugged. "So we just have to get Spike to stop trying to serve Valerie. Let's see... how to do that..."

"Miss Valerie, does Twilight know about this?" Flint asked.

"She apparently gave her blessing." Valerie said.

"Maybe we should confirm this." Zenix said. "Something tells me that Twilight wouldn't agree to this that easily."

"Good luck with that." Valerie said with no intention of doing things herself, getting deadpan looks from the others.

"...Should have seen that coming..." Zenix sighed. "You two can do whatever you want. I'll go and talk to Twilight."

"I'll follow along." Cali offered.

"In that case I'll watch Miss Valerie." Flint said. "I imagine we want to make sure she and Spike don't meet."

"Good plan. Come on, Cali." Zenix and Cali left to find Twilight, leaving Valerie and Flint.

After a quick power walk, Zenix and Cali were approaching the library to find Twilight.

"Alright, let's get this over with." Zenix said, grabbing the door handle and opening it. The two entered and looked around, though they didn't see her in the main lobby. "Do you think she's out?"

"Hmmm... Oh now I remember." Cali said, snapping her fingers. "Twilight said she was going to be reading a bunch of books over the weekend. She's probably in her room then." Cali began to walk up the stairs, Zenix following. When they looked into the second floor, they did indeed see Twilight reading, a pile of books next to her.

"Nice call, Cowgirl." Zenix applauded.

"No problem. Hey, Sparkle!" Cali called out, causing the unicorn to jump in shock.

"Huh? Oh, it's just you, Cali." Twilight sighed.

"Sorry, but we need to talk to you. It's apparently pretty urgent according to Zenix." Cali said, Zenix showing himself from behind Twilight.

"Okay? What's going on Zenix?"

"Well, it's about Spike." Zenix began, confusing Twilight.

"Is something wrong?"

"Well, he's apparently gone on about some code Spike has and he's in debt to Valerie." It took a moment for Twilight to process, but when she did, she looked quite shocked.

"Wait, what?!"

"...Valerie told us that you gave him your blessing." Zenix continued, getting a guilty look from her.

"...You were distracted, weren't you?" Cali asked with a deadpanned look.

"Um, maybe a little..." Both humans pinched the bridges of their noses and sighed.

"Figures." Zenix sighed. "Well could you get him to stop? Valerie's going to avoid him even harder if he keeps this up. She might even leave town."

"I wish I could, but this is dragon code we're talking about." Twilight sighed. "This is basically the one true rule for a dragon."

"Seriously?" Cali groaned. "Are we sure that he's not just stubborn?!"

"Hm, there's only one other way Spike is gonna fulfill the debt he feels he owes Valerie." Twilight said.

"*sigh* I think I know where this is going..." Zenix said. "I'm going to go find Xavier. We'll need to convince her to go along with this plan. Might take a while though."

"You do that." Twilight said, stepping close to Cali. "Me and Cali will go find everypony else."

"Sure." Zenix said, leaving the two as he went to collect Xavier.

Later

In short, Xavier immediately jumped on board to help. While the other ponies and Flint joined the mission, Xavier and Zenix managed to convince Valerie to go along with the plan they cook up, she seemed pretty willing. The other humans were busy with other business, so the group went forward with those who were in the know at the moment. Now everyone was inside of Applejack's barn discussing a plan of action.

"So if I had to guess what the plan is, it's to get Spike to 'save' Valerie's life." Zenix said, putting quotations over "save".

"That's the plan." Twilight confirmed.

"Typical life debt." Xavier sighed. "How many times has this trope been used in books and stuff?"

"Wish I could tell you..." Flint said.

"Still, we're going to need Spike to save Valerie."

"But is she going to go along with this?" Rainbow asked, doubting her enthusiasm.

"Valerie isn't that lazy." Zenix said, slightly offended. "She's actually quite quick and efficient in what she does."

"Mostly so she can go back to being lazy." Xavier said.

"Let's just get on with the plan." Cali groaned.

"Right. We need Spike to save Valerie." Twilight brought the conversation back to the main topic.

"And you want us to shoot her out of a cannon towards a hornet's nest and give Spike a butterfly net so he can catch her mere seconds before she hits the nest and are stung by a thousand angry hornets! I'll wear this mustache." Pinkie described excitedly, pulling down a screen with said plan and putting on a fake mustache. Many of the heroes looked at her plan like she was crazy.

"Not doing that." Valerie stated, shooting down the idea quickly.

"What was your plan Twilight?" Xavier continued, getting a disappointed look from Pinkie.

"I was planning on her to get attacked, by a timberwolf!" Twilight announced, many of the heroes gasping at the announcement.

"Can I still wear the mustache?" Pinkie asked, getting a few hoof/face palms.

Later, near the Everfree Forest

"Let's go over the plan while AJ's finding Spike."

Huddled around next to the Everfree Forest, the heroes save for Applejack were setting up the plan with Xavier explaining. As for Applejack, she was out to collect Spike.

"When Applejack gets close enough, Rarity, Pinkie, and Zenix will run out of the forest. When they pass Spike and Applejack, they'll tell them that Valerie is fighting the timberwolf. Once the two make it over, they will see that Valerie is on the ground with the timberwolf over her. With Spike's help, Valerie will be able to get away safely and consider the debt paid. Sound good?" Everyone else gave approvals at the plan.

"Just one question." Pinkie asked.

"Yeah?" Turning, everyone could see Pinkie was wearing the mustache from before. "No."

"Suit yourself."

"*ahem*" Rarity coughed, getting everyone's attention. "We are all ready to play our parts, but are you sure you are ready to play yours, Valerie?"

"Excuse me?" Valerie questioned.

"Show us your best 'damsel in distress' move." Rarity said.

"I wouldn't worry about-" Zenix tried to say, but was interrupted by Valerie flopping over and acting like she was dead. "...That. You realize that one of the main skills a spy needs is deception, right?"

"...I can see that. I honestly feel silly asking that now." Rarity admitted.

"You can talk about this later." Cali said running up to the group. "Applejack's coming with Spike."

"Then that's out cue." Zenix said, Pinkie and Rarity joining them. "Good luck gang." As the three ran to meet Spike and Applejack, the others went and hid in their spots, Valerie staying on the ground. A few moments later, Applejack and Spike arrived on the scene. Once they did, Rainbow and Twilight started on the plan with Rainbow giving a very convincing roar of a Timberwolf and Twilight lowering a not-so-convincing puppet of a timberwolf. At least it looked like Spike was buying it.

"Is that seriously the best we could do?" Cali asked the other humans there.

"Maybe if Huston was here." Xavier commented, another roar coming from Rainbow as the puppet moved closer to Valerie, the sound of footsteps coming from Fluttershy wearing small, wooden buckets on her hooves.

"Oh no! It looks like Valerie is in trouble!" Applejack said, even less convincingly than the puppet. "You need to help her, Spike!"

"...Maybe we have our roles mixed up." Cali groaned hearing Applejack. Spike did look like he was scared for Valerie as it looked as if the puppet was about to take a bite out of Valerie, but he suddenly seemed annoyed.

"Wait a minute." He stated, getting everyone nervous.

"No, no, don't wait a minute. Save her from the terrifyin' timberwolf!"

"Well, he would be terrifying if he wasn't a fake!" Spike announced, walking up to the puppet with an angry look on him.

"...dang it" Valerie whispered under her breath as she moved a bit.

"You got the clomping on his claws..." Spike described, observing the feet of the puppet before moving onto the jaw (one of the feet fell off) "...The roar was spot on, and the detail on his face is pretty good." At this point it was obvious that he was onto their plan, so Valerie sat up. "But you forgot one thing: his breath! You could smell a real timberwolf's breath from a mile–" The dragon paused when a green miasma floated by, stinking up the area and causing those nearby to cover their noses. "Too late, I'm already on–"

"Timberwolves!" Suddenly, Twilight teleported between them screaming, Rainbow and Fluttershy running after her fearfully. Looking into the forest, they saw that there were a trio of actual timberwolves approaching. While Applejack and Spike backed up quickly, the other humans came out of hiding to try and fight them off with Valerie who was already holding a kunai.

"This is not at all the plan." Cali groaned as she and Xavier fought one wolf, Flint and Valerie taking the other two alone. With their strengths, they were able to crush the wolves into splinters.

"There, that's taken care of." Xavier sighed as he put his sword away. As he and the others were putting their weapons away, Spike and Applejack came over.

"Is everypony okay?" Applejack asked.

"Yes. No injuries from what I can tell." Flint answered. As they were talking, Valerie walked over with a chunk of wood.

"Why are you holding that?" Xavier asked. Valerie turned the piece of wood around, showing that there was a shuriken lodged inside. "Okay?"

"I used this shuriken yesterday." Valerie said, yanking the blade from the wood.

"Does that mean these timberwolves are the same ones from yesterday?" Spike asked. Before anyone could answer, the wood that Valerie was holding began to shake and glow an ominous green. Suddenly, the chunk of wood flew out of her hand, it and the other pieces of timberwolf following suit, starting to create a giant leg of a wolf.

"What's happening?!" Cali questioned as they saw even more chunks of wood fly out of the forest and onto the leg. What began to form was an even bigger timberwolf, and everyone present was watching in shock.

"We need to get out of here!" Xavier shouted, everyone following along. At least until Applejack ended up tripping on one of the wood chunks that ended up hitting her leg. Unfortunately, that was one of the last pieces for the giant timberwolf to be created, the giant beast letting out a terrifying roar.

"Applejack!" Cali called out worried as the wolf reared it's paw up, ready to crush Applejack who couldn't get out of the way before the paw began to descend. The only reason she was able to avoid it was because Valerie managed to grab her and chuck her over to the others. Unfortunately Valerie couldn't get out of the way fully and ended up getting scratched on her arm, some blood dripping as she rolled.

"Valerie!" Xavier shouted, concerned.

"Go!" Valerie shouted, her eyes holding a determination in them. "I'll be fine!"

"No you won't!" Xavier retorted.

"Just get Applejack and Spike out of here!" Valerie declared, the timberwolf turning to her with bloodlust in its eyes. Before anyone could react however, Spike ran closer to the giant, shocking everyone.

"What are you doing Spike!?" Flint shouted, him and the others trying to catch up to him. As he ran over, he picked up the shuriken that Valerie dropped when the wolf began to form.

"No! I have to save Valerie!" Spike declared, holding the blade up as he got in between the giant timberwolf and Valerie. With a swing of his arm, he clumsily tossed the shuriken at the wolf, not exactly intimidating. At least until it landed in the wolf's open jaw, bouncing into the throat of the wolf and causing it to flinch. Strangely, the beast started to act like it was choking.

"...Why is it choking?" Xavier questioned as he and the others ran over to Valerie and Spike. Helping Valerie to her feet, everyone made their escape from the wolf as it choked, falling over and collapsing into rubble.

As the group brought Valerie to a safer area, they saw the ponies who fled first joined up with those who initiated the plan to start with. Once they regrouped, they saw the injury on Valerie's arm.

"Oh man! That does not look good!" Zenix panicked, pulling out a first aid kit.

"It's not a big deal." Valerie said, her emotionless expression back on her.

"Don't give me that!" Zenix disagreed, pulling out some disinfectant.

"What happened to you guys back there!?" Twilight questioned while Valerie was getting her injury treated. "Thought you were right behind us!"

"Well I was tripped by some timberwolf wood and as the giant timberwolf was about ta crush me, Valerie pushed me outta the way!" Applejack began to describe. "But she got hurt herself."

"Wait, she actually got hurt?" Rarity asked.

"Yeah, but as the timberwolf was about to attack Valerie, Spike chucked a shuriken into the thing's mouth an' saved her life!" Cali finished as Zenix finished wrapping the bandages.

"Aw, it was nothing." Spike said bashfully. "Though, why did you guys try to trick me with that fake timberwolf?"

"*sigh* Because Valerie would prefer no one bother her." Xavier said. "It's not that we doubt that the dragon code is important to you, but Valerie would probably prefer you to leave her alone, dragon code or not."

"R-really?" Spike wondered, seeming a bit heartbroken.

"I really hate to break it to you like this..." Xavier said, but Spike seemed quite disappointed. As everyone seemed worried about Spike, Valerie walked up to Spike. What she did surprised everyone as she knelt down to his level and pulled out a chocolate bar from her pocket.

"Don't take this the wrong way." Valerie said, handing the bar to Spike. "Saving someone doesn't need 'life debts'. It's better to just say thanks and treat them to lunch or something." Valerie stood up and began to walk off, but stopped. "If you want to, you can visit from time to time." With one final statement, Valerie walked off.

"Huh, maybe she's not as ornery as you thought." Rainbow commented, but her and everyone else looked confused when they saw Zenix and Xavier share the same slack-jawed expression. "Is... everything okay?"

"She... just gave a chocolate bar... to Spike?" Xavier gasped.

"Is that a big deal?" Cali asked.

"Very!" Zenix shouted. "She never shares!"

"That doesn't seem like that big of a deal." Rarity commented. As everyone argued, Spike looked at the chocolate bar he was given and smiled. Maybe Valerie did care about him. Even if it was just a little.

Author's Note

So I might have gotten distracted by Marvel Rivals and Balatro (whoops)
Anyway if you can't tell by now, Valerie's going to be a bit of a special character. We'll see what happens with her, but for now I'm going back to carrying 4 duelists as Magneto. Koops out!
