The library however was filled with the rhythmic CLACKING of hooves against wood. A purple unicorn with a cutie mark that could be described as a starburst was pacing inside of the library as a small purple dragon sat on a counter watching as the unicorn (whose name was Twilight Sparkle) slowly but surely paced a path into the floorboards. Five other ponies were there as well, two were pegasi, two earth ponies, and one unicorn. “Spike, can you read the letters again?” Twilight asked with worry in her voice, the purple dragon named Spike pulled two scrolls off of the counter and opened one of them. He then cleared his throat before speaking. “Dear Twilight Sparkle With you and the other element bearers’ help Discord has been defeated and returned to stone. Because of such a feat, I must ask for your and the other element bearers’ help in a matter of great importance. I hope that you will respond soon and that you know that you can refuse. Sincerely Princess Celestia” Spike looked up from the scroll at Twilight Sparkle who was still pacing but she was nodding her head slightly as she mulled over the information. Then she spoke once again, worry still in her voice. “And the next one.” Spike then grabbed the next scroll and began to read it. “Dear Twilight Sparkle I appreciate both your and the other element bearers’ willingness to tackle yet another problem in Equestria. But because of who is involved in this I must warn you, he is easily more dangerous than Discord ever could be. I will arrive with him in three days. Please remember that you can refuse this responsibility at any time. Sincerely Princess Celestia” “Now do you all understand why I’m so worked up? Princess Celestia sent those two days ago, she and this creature are going to arrive today and I don’t know how to prepare for this thing!” Twilight cried as her pacing sped up. A sky blue pegasus with a rainbow mane flew over to Twilight. “I think we should go outside before the Princess gets here. I think she might be able to tell us about this thing before she lets it go in Ponyville.” Twilight pulled a long list out of her saddlebag as she stopped pacing. After a few moments of silence, Twilight nodded her head and gave the rainbow manned pegasus (who was named Rainbow Dash) a smile. A white unicorn with a dark purple mane and tail (whose name is Rarity) walked up and gave Twilight a reassuring smile as they walked to the door. “Besides, if this creature really was as bad as Celestia made it out to be then she would have a dozen royal guards and herself here to keep it from hurting anypony.” Her smile quickly fell as she saw Princess Celestia and nearly three dozen royal guards escorting a large metal box towards Ponyville. Author's Note The only reason this story is a crossover between MLP and Overlord is because I use objects and names from the Overlord universe (e.g. The Tower Heart, The Infernal Abyss, Overlord, etc.) I will not be using any characters from the Overlord series. Chapter 3: First Appearance“If he is so dangerous then why are you trusting us with him?” Twilight asked in a small voice as all sound in Ponyville stopped. No birds, animals, ponies, or even insects dared to make the first sound. “You and the others are capable of many great things and that was the only reason Luna was able to talk me into this plan,” Celestia whispered to Twilight, despite her brave face even Celestia was becoming worried by the silence. Then as quickly as it had settled the silence was shattered by the sound of chains dragging against the floor of the box. Slowly but surely a scaled foot thrust itself into the light which was then followed by another then the legs and snout followed. The creature’s snout was covered in scars and scales in almost equal measure, the creature’s fangs hung only slightly past its lips, and on the left side near the snout tip was a large scar and a missing fang. The creature fully stepped into the light, his scales were an obsidian black that despite being in the light seemed to blend with the darkness of the box, he wore loose, ragged, and faded clothes that held faint traces of colors. The creature’s snout was bound by a metal muzzle, the metal was losing its color but it was far from rusting. The muzzle connected to a head harness that connected at the base of the creature’s skull it sat high above the many spines that ran from in between the creature’s shoulder blades to the tip of its tail. The creature’s arms and legs were bound with thick metal chains that barely held any slack despite the creature not struggling against the chains. The creature’s hands were contained with metal gloves that connected with the arm chains. The arm and leg chains were connected by several smaller chains that ended on a metal collar that sat neatly around the creature’s neck. On the creature’s back was a pair of wings that were confined by two large metal tubes that locked all but the tips of the wing bones and where the bones connected to the main limb. The creature’s tail dragged against the ground as the creature shuffled forward towards Celestia with little regard for the royal guards who moved to restrain the creature. Celestia simply shook her head before walking up to the creature with a confident mask. Her horn lit up and the creature’s muzzle opened enough to allow for speaking, The creature slowly opened his jaws to yawn which caused several pops and cracks to ring out. When the creature was done yawning he allowed his eyes to lazily scan over the six ponies behind Celestia, what little he could see of course. He then turned his attention back to Celestia and he opened his jaws to speak, his voice was low, deep, a little raspy, and rumbled with each word. “And what did I do to get such a reward? Fresh air, a view of the sky, the feeling of the wind on my scales, and the scents of nature. I almost think that you’re trying to butter me up to coin the phrase.” He gave a chuckle that rumbled and rolled in his throat as he smiled at Celestia putting his sharp yellowed fangs on full display to her and the six ponies behind her. Author's Note Important: Royal Canterlot Voice Deep/Modified Voice Regular Speech Chapter 4: IntroductionsCelestia spoke in a clear confident voice that demanded attention, a voice that didn’t impress the creature as it simply stared into Celestia’s eyes. “You have refused to tell me how to translate the book of prophecies that your race created so now I leave you with a pony that I think you will enjoy working with.” Celestia paused for a moment to take a breath and gauge the creature’s reaction before continuing. “But make no mistake, Evalin, you step out of line, you hurt anypony here, you do anything to make me regret this decision and you will be thrown back into your cell in Canterlot dungeon and you will never leave it again!” She yelled as a little of the royal canterlot voice started to activate. To all of the ponies' surprise the creature (who was now named Evalin) simply threw his head back as far as he could and let out a mad cackle. Then Evalin gave Celestia a mock bow as he spoke. “Of course your royal highness. Just a quick question: would you like a hoof massage with that, oh what about a bowl of cherries?” When he rose from his mock bow he had a smirk plastered on his face, one that was soon replaced by a look of confusion. Evalin then shuffled to Celestia’s left and looked behind her getting a long hard look at the six bearers of the elements. His eyes focused on Twilight Sparkle before going wide, his head pulled back as if he had been struck. His jaws made several small movements as he looked at Twilight, after a good ten seconds he composed himself and walked towards the six ponies. He stopped when he was only a few steps away from them. He then straightened himself and cleared his throat, before giving a quick bow to the six ponies before him. “I suppose that I’m going to be stuck with all of you for a while so let’s get this out of the way. My name is Evalin and I will most likely be forced to enjoy your company until the book is translated at which point I shall most likely be returned to my cell.” His eyes moved from one pony to the next throughout his introduction, but his eyes lingered on Twilight for a few seconds longer than the others. Rainbow Dash flew towards him and pointed a hoof at his face. “You won’t be hurting any pony as long as I’m here buddy.” Evalin chuckled as he lazily swatted at her with both of his bound hands before he decided to speak. “The only thing you have to worry about for me is how you are going to feed me, unlike the dragons that you are associated with I cannot eat gems. Trying to do so would only hurt my fangs and be a waste of my time.” Rainbow Dash turned her head slightly as he was speaking before she asked the question that everypony other than Celestia was thinking. “What do you eat then?” Evalin gave a loud rolling chuckle before answering her as a small sneer started to grow on his snout. “Meat, preferably red but I have eaten bugs and Changelings before,” Evalin said as he threw one hand to the side before it was stopped by the chains. Rainbow Dash and most of the other ponies’ eyes went wide at that remark, Celestia however used her magic to summon the book which she passed to Twilight while keeping an eye on Evalin. Chapter 6: A Taste of What's to ComeThe main six raced into the library to see that Evalin was hunched over and putting his bound hands against his head while Spike stood frozen in fear on a table, Spike’s mouth quivered as he stared into Evalin’s eyes or his teeth depending on where you were standing. Twilight quickly comforted Spike while Evalin slowly stood up and gave Spike a glare. As Twilight was about to open her mouth she was once again interrupted. “That hatchling has a loud scream, I ask that you try to keep him from screaming from now on,” Evalin growled out as he shuffled over to a corner and slumped against the wall before rolling over so he was laying on his side facing the walls. “Are you going to be working on translating the book or are you going to sit over there all day?” Twilight asked with a touch of annoyance. “I don’t think you understand this situation, little pony. I’m being forced against my will to translate a book made by my people because any other creature in the world who could translate it is either dead or hiding. So until Celestia finds another who can translate the book, I can simply sit here and translate a few words every two to three days. Celestia will have no actual reason to throw me in my cell because I’m doing what she asked but not how she wanted. Now if you will excuse me I will be enjoying this afternoon by staying out of the sun and taking a nap.” Evalin said this as if it were a commonly known fact, Twilight on the other hand (or hoof depending on what type of saying you prefer) stood still with her mouth slightly hanging open at this creature’s arrogance. “I have half a mind to tell Princess Celestia about your little plan,” Twilight said with a bit of a glare once she had recovered, Evalin simply gave a chuckle as his tail lazily swished itself over the wooden floor. “Go ahead, I’m sure Celestia would love to know that not even an hour in and things are going this poorly.” He said this with the ghost of a smirk on his snout while lazily looking at Twilight. Twilight’s ears fell back and her face went pale or at least as pale as a face covered in fur could be. You could practically see the gears in Twilight’s head grinding to a halt at the thought of telling Celestia of this failure. After a few minutes of Twilight internally freaking out and her friends trying to calm her down, she was finally able to think somewhat rationally. She walked out of the room with the rest of the element bearers and Spike hot on her heels. Twilight stood in front of a window and took several shaky deep breaths. “Princess Celestia wasn’t kidding when she said he was good at manipulating others,” Twilight said in a very meek voice that more resembled the pegasus Fluttershy than the regular Twilight Sparkle. “He didn’t seem to even need to know who I am to know how to get me to do what he wants. It's like he could read my mind and used the most effective fear that I have.” Twilight may be staring out the window but her attention was far from what she could see. The rest of the element bearers could see her reflection and they could see the one emotion that flooded her eyes, pure terror. “Hey it's alright Twilight, I got an idea on how to stop that guy from messing with your head.” Rainbow Dash said with a confident smile, while the rest of the element bearers gave her a worried look. Chapter 7: House Rules“Whenever he tries to manipulate anypony somepony else talks to him. He can’t manipulate everypony at once after all.” Rainbow Dash said as she looked at the faces of her fellow ponies, with a sigh Twilight spoke up. “It’s worth a shot.” With that, she and the rest of the ponies walked back into the room. Evalin had gotten up sometime during their talk and had taken to inspecting the room. Currently, he was strolling along the bookshelves staring at each spine for a few moments, if he heard the six-element bearer’s conversation he didn’t do anything to tip it off. Nor did he do anything to acknowledge whether or not he could hear their hooves clacking against the floor. He didn’t even turn to acknowledge the group until Twilight spoke. Her voice was still a little shaky but it was far more like normal than before. “I want you to understand a few things Evalen,” Twilight said with a glare to make her seem more intimidating. “In.” He said over his shoulder, much to the confusion of the six ponies behind him. “What?” Twilight asked with all of her confidence leaving her. “My name is Evalin, not Evalen, you may now continue your pointless and pathetic attempt to intimidate me.” Evalin said in an almost monotone voice, although Twilight could feel the smirk on his face despite not being able to see it. She cleared her voice and tried to salvage her courage. “While you are here you will obey my rules and you will not try to manipulate anypony anymore.” She said this hoping to get a reaction out of him which she succeeded in doing. Evalin gave a low chuckle before he spoke. “You really are Celestia’s student aren’t you.” He shook his head as much as he could. Twilight was going to continue her conversation but she picked up on one thing that didn’t add up to what she knew of Evalin. “How did you know I was Celestia’s student, she never said anything to hint that I was her student?” Twilight asked and for the second time since she met him, he had lost his composure. He practically froze in place as her words washed over him, his eyes twitched this way and that way trying desperately to find something to use to save himself from this situation. “You must have mentioned it earlier, I am sure you did.” Was Evalin’s genius reply that made him want to slap himself. “I’ll drop this for now but I want you to promise me a few things in exchange,” Twilight said with a small smile, after a few moments she continued. “I want you to promise not to hurt anypony, take anything, or manipulate anypony while you’re here.” She was confident but she didn’t think that he would do much other than laugh or insult them again. “Alright, I promise.” To be honest these words were the absolute last ones that she was expecting him to say. Chapter 8: The First Look“Wait, you’ll actually agree just like that.” Rainbow Dash blurted out in surprise while most of the other ponies were still processing the fact that he had agreed so quickly. “I have little to gain from not following those rules. Besides I’m not stupid, if I started mucking with things in this depressingly bright town then I would be pushing my luck a little too much. I would prefer to err on the side of caution than pursue unnecessary risks.” Evalin said after he turned around to face the ponies. Twilight by this point had recovered enough to talk with a rational mind. “And how do we know that you will keep your word?” Evalin gave her an offended look. “Honesty is one of the most important parts of my race, my word is my bond. But for your comfort, I Evalin of the dragonkin swear not to harm anypony unless given proper reason and authorization from you or Celestia, I swear to not steal anything without the intent to return it to its proper place once I am done using it, and I swear not to attempt to manipulate others unless given proper cause.” Evalin said this with his hands on his chest, Twilight and the other element bearers looked somewhat relieved but his words did not instill too much confidence in their hearts. Just as Twilight was about to open her mouth to voice her lack of trust in his words he spoke up once more. “If you don’t mind, I'd like to work on the book now. So if you could fix this little problem that would be greatly appreciated.” He said this while playfully waving his hands in the air. Twilight moved the book over to the table that Spike was standing on earlier before panicking again. “Celestia didn’t tell me how to undo the chains and I don't see a keyhole, she didn’t even give me a key!” Twilight then started to pace uncontrollably while ranting to herself, Evalin watched for a few moments before becoming bored at this display. “Breathe pony, the chains are removed by magic. You must simply focus on them and imagine them unlocking while forcing your magic into them.” Evalin said calmly while his tail rhythmically swiped its way from one side of his legs to the other. “Well if it's so easy then how come you haven’t done it?” Applejack asked to which Evalin turned his head to show the collar off. “This infernal thing has cut me off from my magic, if I didn’t have it I would have been rid of these chains centuries ago.” Evalin said with bitterness coating his words. With several deep breaths, Twilight managed to calm down enough to try what Evalin had said. Her horn lit up as she focused and after a few moments the metal gloves expanded before they started to slip off of Evalin’s hands. With a shake they fell off and revealed his hands, they were covered in scales like the rest of his body and they ended in two inches of claw that was a dull gravel grey color. Evalin clenched and unclenched his fingers for a few minutes, each time letting a series of loud cracks fill the air. Evalin then shuffled over to a chair at the table and awkwardly sat down while slowly wiggling his fingers. Finally, after about two minutes he grabbed the book and inspected it with the same amount of care that Rarity put into her clothes. Twilight couldn’t help but notice how easily and carefully Evalin handled the leather-bound book. Despite his claws not a single scratch or blemish was placed on the book, after about half a minute Evalin set the book back down on the table and opened it. The first page was filled with a list of numbers; some were in groups, others were separate, but each number seemed to represent something, what that was Twilight didn’t know. Evalin then turned the page showing a set of letters in an odd language and a series of strange symbols marked the sides of the page. Evalin’s eyes scanned the page with a deep curiosity, he continued to look over the pages until he got to page 76 of the hundred-plus page. There he paused looking at the page with a deep sorrow filling his eyes, Twilight looked at him only to see the beginning of tears starting to form in his eyes. Whatever prophecy was on the page had hurt Evalin at his core. With a shuddering sigh, he shut the book and used his hands to rub at his face, at least the parts that weren’t covered by the muzzle. Chapter 2: The MeetingThe royal guards looked tense and ready for a fight, which was a stark contrast to many of the previous times that Twilight had seen them. Half of them were surrounding the box while the other half was watching the area around the box. Princess Celestia stood in front of the box with a grim scowl on her face as she stared into the dark slits that allowed air and light to enter the box. With a sigh, she turned around to speak to Twilight and the other five ponies. while she did this a large herd of ponies gathered to watch. “I want you all to know that if I had any other options I would use them. He is the last creature I ever want to be outside of their cell.” She said the last sentence as she glared at the box. “He is the most dangerous threat in all of Equestria and worse he knows it.” Twilight couldn’t help but shiver at Celestia’s words. “This feller can’t be more dangerous than Discord was, else you wouldn’t have him in a box.” An orange earth pony with a set of three apples as her cutie mark named Applejack said with a confident smile. “I wish that were the case, he is by far one of the most intelligent creatures in Equestria and he knows how to use it. He knows the pony mind far better than any other creature and he knows how to twist a pony’s mind however he wants. He is so skilled that he could make Rainbow Dash betray all of you after only a few weeks with her.” As Celestia said this a sinister chuckle came from the box that startled all of the ponies, especially the royal guards and Celestia. What followed next was the sound of chains dragging against the metal floor of the box and various cracking joints. Suddenly a pair of dark crimson eyes peered through the slits, each eye was thin and serpentine much like Spike’s eyes except for the colors around the pupil. Each iris was a dark red and the rest of his eyes were a darker pink shade. Deep rhythmic breathing could be heard from inside the box but the creature refused to speak. Celestia used her magic to open the box’s door. Somehow despite the sun shining directly onto the open door a heavy curtain of shadows covered the box’s interior and the creature that was housed inside. All that could be seen were the creature’s eyes as they glared out at the waiting ponies. Chapter 5: Final WarningsEvalin was awkwardly silent as he stood in between Celestia and the main six. As the ponies stared at him in fear he slowly moved his head to look around while Celestia refused to speak or move, she only kept her eyes on him. Finally, he cleared his throat and awkwardly said “I shall stay in the library for the duration of this awkward confrontation.” With that being said Evalin shuffled his way past the near-frozen Rainbow Dash and the rest of the main six and entered the library with a bit of difficulty. Celestia followed him with her eyes and until he entered the library, when he was gone from her sight she turned to speak to Twilight. “I will be leaving some royal guards to protect Ponyville and yourself. But I need you to understand one thing about Evalin: while he will never outright lie to you, he is not above twisting or withholding the truth to manipulate you into doing what he wants. Please remember that despite what he says or does he is dangerous and will always have a plan to destroy you, it is only a matter of time before he enacts his plan.” Twilight’s eyes widened when she heard this and her fear only increased when Celestia opened her wings and started to walk away. Twilight opened her mouth to say something but Celestia turned her head to look back at the main six. “If he tries anything just send me a message and he will be thrown back into his cell faster than he can blink. This is important but not nearly important enough to risk your safety or the safety of anypony in Ponyville.” She then took off into the air and almost a quarter of the royal guards followed her while the rest took position around Twilight’s home. Before Twilight could once again start panicking Rainbow Dash snapped out of her stupor and landed next to Twilight. “Well, we might as well get this over with cause I don’t know about all of you but I don’t think anypony can find him in the dark.” Rainbow Dash gave a nervous chuckle before a bright pink earth pony named Pinkie Pie spoke up excitedly. “Now I can throw another welcome to Ponyville party!” While she shouted this several ponies including the rest of the main six jumped in fear. Pinkie Pie looked around and sheepishly chuckled “Sorry.” Rainbow Dash was about to yell at pikie when a loud CRASH sounded from inside the library, which was soon followed by the sound of Spike screaming.

Chapter 4: IntroductionsCelestia spoke in a clear confident voice that demanded attention, a voice that didn’t impress the creature as it simply stared into Celestia’s eyes.
