Chapter 1: Enter Twilight Sparkle and Drew Spirit-Mane
(10 years later...)
“Hmm... Elements of Harmony.” A young girl with lavender skin, long lavender hair and purple eyes thought as she sat under the shade of a tree, reading a book. She wore a dark vest over a light purple button-down blouse that covered her chest, a skirt that reached the end of her thighs, long purple socks that reached her knees and dark purple shoes. She had pony ears and a long lavender tail. “I’ve known I’ve heard those before...but where?”
“Reading again, T-S?” A familiar voice spoke up, causing the said girl to jump and look up to see a young man, wearing a golden shirt with the picture of the sun and blue trousers. His black hair was short and slightly wild. He wore red sneakers and his blue eyes sparkled in the sun. He had pony-like ears and a black flowing tail behind him. “Drew!” Twilight exclaimed, grinning at him.
“Good to see you, T-S.” Drew replied as Twilight got to her feet and they began walking to the castle. “You’ve been reading non-stop for 5 straight days, is it about the Maiden of the Moon?” Twilight frowned at that. “I’m just worried.” She replied. “From what I read, on the longest day of the thousandth year, the stars will aid in her escape, and she will bring about eternal night!”
“Today is the thousandth year,” she added. “and soon the Summer Sun Celebration will start.” “That’s when Nightmare Moon will escape.” “I see.” Drew replied. “Maybe, it has something to do with the dreams I’ve been having.”
“Is it about those strange dreams about your aunt, Luna?” Twilight asked in a worried frown. Drew nodded sadly. “She speaks to me in my dreams; she tell me she enjoys my company since she’s always lonely.” “She seems so sad...” He added. “I feels as if she’s trying to warn me of something.”
“Well, don’t worry about it.” Twilight suggested, grinning at him. “I’m sure we can figure this out!” Drew smiled. As long as he can remember, Twilight Sparkle was his closest friend and his mother’s best student. Being the son of Princess Celestia, he was known as the prince of Equestria. He was very popular among the citizens of Canterlot, but with Twilight Sparkle, they were practically inseperable.
“Prince Drew, Twilight; there you are!” Three girls approached them: Lemon Hearts, Twinkleshine and Minuette; there of their fellow classmates. “Moon Dancer is having a little get-together in the west castle courtyard. You wanna come?”
“Oh, sorry, girls...” Twilight chuckled awkwardly. “I've got a lot of studying to catch up on and I already promised Drew to help me with my research.” Drew shook his head. Twilight may be Celestia’s skilled student, but when it came to meeting with other people, she was like a stuttering chipmunk.
“Anyway, gotta go see ya!!” With that, Twilight grabbed Drew’s hand and dragged him away. The girls watched in disappointment. Twinkle-shine sighed. “Does that girl do anything except study?” She muttered. “I think she's more interested in books than friends.” “Not everyone.” Lemon Heart added. “The prince is especially close to her.” They sighed dreamily at the thought of the handsome Drew.
(5 mins later...)
Twilight was scouring the shelves of books in the library. Meanwhile, Drew and Spike, a small boy with green dragon scales in his ears; and wearing a purple jacket over a green shirt and purple pants with green sneakers just watched on.
“How long has she been at this?” Spike asked his older brother-figure. Drew sighed. “Too be honest, I have no idea.” He replied before turning to Twilight. “T-S, don’t you think you should take a break from this?”
“No!” The lavender girl exclaimed, making them jump a bit. “Your mom needs to know about this!” “If my hunch is correct,” she added. “Nightmare Moon will escape and Equestria will be in great danger!” “Ah!” She cried as she took a book from the shelf. “Elements of Harmony, see: Maiden in the Moon?”
“Maiden in the Moon?” Spike asked. “Isn’t that the girl who’s been appearing in your dreams, Drew; I thought it’s just an old wives’ tale.” “Not really.” Drew replied. “She’s been calling me to help her, to free her from the darkness; whatever that means.”
“This is it!” The two boys turned to Twilight who read out loud. “The Maiden in the Moon, myth from olden times. A powerful sorceress who wanted to rule Equestria, defeated by the Elements of Harmony and imprisoned in the moon. Legend has it that on the longest day of the thousandth year, the stars will aid in her escape, and she will bring about nighttime eternal!”
“Guys, do you know what this means?” She gasped. The two boys exchanged looks. “Uh...” They spoke before interrupted by Twilight. “Exactly!” She exclaimed. “Spike, take a note please to the Princess.” “Okie Dokie!” Spike replied, taking out a parchment and began writing it down with a quill.
“My dearest teacher,” Twilight spoke up. “my continuing studies of unicorn magic have led me to discover that we are on the precipice of disaster!” “Hold on...” Spike muttered. “Perci...perci...” “How about we choose brink?” Drew suggested, smirking a bit. “It’s easier for Spike to spell it.” Spike pouted at him, but continued to write
“Anyway...” Twilight spoke up. “For you see, the mythical Maiden in the Moon is in fact Nightmare Moon, and she's about to return to Equestria, and bring with her eternal night! Something must be done to make sure this terrible prophecy does not come true. I await your quick response. Your faithful student, Twilight Sparkle.”
“Twi... light Spar... kle. Got it!” Spike muttered as he finished writing the note. “Great!” Twilight affirmed. “Now send it!” “Now?” Spike asked in surprise. “Of course!” Twilight replied. “Are you sure about this, T-S?” Drew asked. “Mom’s a little busy preparing for the Summer Sun Celebration and it’s like, the day after tomorrow.”
“That’s just it, Drew!” Twilight exclaimed, getting close to him and making him jump again. “The day after tomorrow is the thousandth year of the Summer Sun Celebration! It's imperative that your Mom is told right away!” "Okay..." Drew gulped nervously, “Still, would you mind backing up a bit, you’re awfully close to me.”
Twilight’s eyes widened when she noticed how ‘close’ she was to Drew and backed away, blushing furiously. “Sorry, sorry!!” She exclaimed, trying to calm her beating heart. “There!” Spike spoke up. “The letter’s on it’s way, but I wouldn’t hold my breath.”
Twilight smiled proudly. “The Princess trusts me completely.” She replied. “In all the years, she’s been my mentor who never once doubted me.” “And she just so happens to be Drew’s mother...” she added. "If she won't listen to me, I'm sure she'll listen to him."
Drew and Spike didn’t look convinced. Suddenly, Spike burped out green flames and a scroll emerged and floated in the air. Drew took the scroll and unrolled it. “It’s from my mom.” He replied, clearing his throat.
“My dearest, most faithful student Twilight...” He read it out loud. “You know that I value your diligence and that I trust you completely.” Twilight beamed proudly as she listened. However, her pride quickly withered away when Drew continued. “but you simply must stop reading those dusty old books!”

“WHAT?!” Twilight exclaimed, her jaw dropping. Drew and Spike just sighed. “So much for my mom’s input...” Drew muttered.
