Applejack let out a sigh as she ran her hoof around her glass of apple juice. “I'm worried Twi, Applebloom wont come out of her room. I can hear her crying at night.....”Well have you talked to her?” Twilight said in a concerned voice.” “Shoot, you don't think I've tried? She wont say a word. Something just aint right. She tells me everything.....” Applejack looked up at the sky. Twilight could see tears starting to form in her eyes. She tried to smile and comfort her friend, but she couldn't smile. Not at a time like this. “What do you think could have happened?”
Applejack lowered her head and let out a long sigh. “Well.... I just don't know. Applebloom always gets into mischief and what not with her friends. But never any real trouble.” Applejack stood up. “I'm gonna go back to the farm. Thanks for lunch sugar.” Twilight watched with a horrible feeling in the pit of her stomach. Two of her friends were in pain. and even worse than that, she couldn't do a thing about it. She laid her head on the table, a tear ran down her cheek.
The rain gently kissed my face. The hill I chose seemed especially perfect. The Forrest was in front of me, the hills to my back. There were only two things that I dident hate about my new life in ponyville, rain, and a cretin filly. I took off my hat and set it on my side. I began to eat my lunch, three of the best apples in the world. Sweet apple acres apples. “Your gonna get struck by lighting down there!”
I looked up to see my old friend, with the biggest grin I'd ever seen. I tried to ignore her. She jumped off the cloud and glided down to the spot next to me. A rainbow following her. I grabbed my hat and put it back on my head. “lovely day for outdoor lunch” she said with that same grin on her face. “Just because you don't like the rain. Doesn't mean I shouldn't.”
I took a bite of apple. “No one likes the rain Sarge.” “I do” I gave a similar grin. “Haha. Whatever. hows that wing feeling?” I looked over my shoulder at my splinted wing. “Its feeling better” I threw the apple core into the woods. “You can have the other one” I said as I picked up the second apple.
“Thanks” Rainbow Dash picked up the red fruit and took a large bite. “So (chew) (chew) when you getting that splint off?” “Two weeks” I said as I took another bite. “Not bad.” Rainbow stood up and stretched her long beautiful wings. I couldn't tell if she was doing it to show off. Or to mock me. Either way it was a Rainbow Dash move. “later Sarge. I've got a race” she waved and soared into the air. A rainbow following her. I stood up. And walked towards sweet apple acres.
As I walked down the dirt road that would eventually lead me to my destination. I pondered about why I was here. Things had gotten pretty Quite since that scare at the royal wedding....
I sat back and remembered why i was sent here. I stood at attention as Princess Celestia smiled. Casual as always she asked me to relax. "Ma'am?" Wondering why I had been summoned. I must admit my arrogance and cockiness got the best of me. I thought I was getting a promotion. What would it be I thought to myself.....captain? Sergeant ? General!?
"Sarge. You've been an excellent soldier," I was thrust out of my thoughts. "So much so, that i'm giving you a special assignment," My eyes got wide. Special assignment?! I thought to myself. "have you ever heard of the town of ponyville?"
"no ma'am. I can't say that I have".
"That's understandable. It's a very small town." she walked over to a large map on the table. "here" she pointed to a spot on the map. I walked over and looked down. "Ma'am" I said with a confused and somewhat disappointed look on my face. "if you don't mind me asking. What's there?"
she smiled "Your new home" "there are six pony's there. All of them are to be guarded. They've already overcome two challenges the likes of which most ponies couldn't." "yes ma'am" I turned around and headed back to my barracks. "baby sitting...."I thought to myself. "my life is over...."
I'd heard about all sorts of crazy things happening here. But I've yet to see anything worse then a lost pony, or some animal that had wondered out of the woods in search of food. How I missed Canterlot, well, not so much the city, as my cot in the royal army barracks. It was amazing. Waking up every morning nice any early. Training. Being a part of something bigger then myself. I will give this town one thing. Their food sure is better. I snickered as I continued towards my destination
After 20 or so minutes of walking I reached Ponyville. I had to cut through here to get to Sweet Apple Acres. I figured I might aswell stop and see how Rarity was doing. Just because I was stuck here. Didn't mean I wasn't going to do my job. RING RING. The bell jingled as I opened the wooden door into Rarity's shop. "Ill be with you in a moment." came from the other room. Rarity was my least favorite of the six pony's. I didn't hate her or anything. She just seemed to be my polar opposite. Obsessed with looking good. Can't stand dirt. Priorities completely screwed up. I looked around the well organized shop. Clothing displayed everywhere. Some kind of perfume displayed in the windows. A single cash register next to the door the familiar white pony was about to come out of.
"Why hello Sarge. What can I do for you?" I was pulled out of my thought.
"Hello Rarity. I was just checking on you."
Why everything is simply fabulous darling. iv'e got a new line of clothes about to go out on the market. And my mane is looking stunning. As always. She flicked her head to the side, making her well groomed main wave.
"that's great. Well have a nice-"
"ugh.....Sarge. Why do you still have that tacky old hat?!" I looked up at my camo cowboy hat. "ummmm" she rand over to me and ripped it off my head. Rarity always never fully understood boundaries. Especially when it came to fashion. "now" she said with a smile. "lets get you a half decent piece of headwear. ." She then got behind me and pushed me into the back of the store. How on earth is she this strong?! Im twice her size!?!
"no" toss "no" toss "no" toss. "oh this all simply wont do! She had held me hostage for what seemed like hours. Forcing me to try on hat after hat. "maby I could kill her..." I thought quietly to myself. A small smile breached my lips as I chuckled quietly. I would never hurt any of them. Not only had I grown to consider them all friends, It would completely go against my assignment. I did need to get out of here if I was ever going to get to Sweet Apple Acres. Suddenly as Rarity threw a ridiculous French hat of some kind ontop of my head. The door let out a familiar jingle. "wait right here darling. Will get your hat sorted out as soon as I deal with this customer. She smiled and trotted into the other room.
"Nows my chance." I thought to myself. I jumped out of the chair and headed for the back exit. That is until I heard who was in the other room with Rarity.
"Hey Rarity. You want to go get some lunch? It was Rainbow Dash. A wicked smile came across my face. I turned and walked into the front of the store. "oh hey Sarge." Rainbow Dash wasen't expecting to find me here. Quite frankly I wasen't expecting her to be here either. She saw the grin on my face
"hey Rainbow dash." "Rarity I hate to interrupt you two. But earlier Rainbow was telling me how badly she wants to model a few of your dresses for you. I smiled. Rainbow dash was in complete shock. She turned to see Rarity's eyes as big as saucers. "HUUUUUUUU!" "Rainbow dash!? Really?! Oh I have so many outfits that would go perfectly with your physique!" she grabbed a still shocked Rainbow. And draped her into the back. Her face turned to me. Her mouth wide open. I winked at her.
I picked up my hat of the floor and dusted it off. Placing it on my head I opened the door and continued on towards sweet apple acres.
“hey big Mac” I waved at the large colt.
“yep” big Mac said as he pulled a wagon full of apples towards the town. I don't know how they did it. The apple family orchard was the most beautiful thing i'd ever seen. I loved it here. I loved helping them harvest apples. I loved eating granny smiths delicious treats. But most of all. I loved spending time with apple bloom. There was something about her. maby it was that adorable accent of hers. Or that big red bow she always wore. But ever since the day I met her I felt something special for her. She was like my little sister. And I truly loved her. I would do anything for her. I walked onto the front porch of the Apple family home. It seemed somewhat quite
