Crossing Over
INTERLUDE: Eggman's Success
Previous ChapterInterlude - Eggman's Success
Ivo was getting impatient. Again.
How in the world could these robots test his patience so many times without noticing? Honestly, Ivo felt that sometimes they actually made the conscious decision to be stupid or take much longer than necessary. Cubot should've been back by now-- in fact, he should've been back nearly 30 minutes ago! He was only supposed to have been gone for 30 seconds. Ivo specifically programmed the experimental device for that amount of time. So, unless Ivo had made a mistake, and he was pretty sure he hadn't, how had 30 seconds turned into 30 minutes!?
Immediately, Ivo chastised himself, He wasn't supposed to get so angry. Not only was it bad for his health, it also made him do irrational things. Such irrational things could possibly lead to evil things, and he was wholeheartedly against that.
He glanced at the orb-shaped robot floating beside him. Orbot also looked impatient as he continued to stare worriedly at the spot where Cubot had vanished in a flash of cyan light.
Ivo turned his gaze back to the same spot Orbot was staring at. The small timer on his glasses now read 31 minutes and, despite his self-chastisement, he still felt impatient. If there was one thing the pony universe and the Doctor hadn't helped him with, it was his damned impatience. However, if he got back there, maybe that too could be changed for the better. And now he was so close to going back. So close...
Then, a bright cyan light appeared right where he'd been staring. It was so bright that Ivo had to shield his eyes. Once it was over, he blinked and focused his eyes on the cube-shaped robot sitting on the ground with a circular cyan device on its chest.
There was a moment of silence before Orbot sighed in relief at the same time Ivo shouted, "Finally!"
Cubot looked around and took in his surroundings. Then, seeing Ivo, he said, "Boss! You won't believe what I saw!"
"Try me," replied Ivo, rushing out from behind the console and over to Cubot, and starting to take the device off the robot.
"Well," Cubot began in his wonderfully English accented voice, "I appeared in this weird looking building with a lot of books. There were also a bunch of colorful ponies. One was purple, another was red, and the other had cool rainbow hair!"
If Orbot could've rolled his right now, he would've done so. "Cubot, I think you may have been hallucinating. That sounds crazy, even by your standards."
"I wasn't halluc-- wait, can robots even hallucinate?" Cubot questioned, tilting his head.
"I... I'm not entirely sure," admitted Orbot. He turned to Ivo, who had successfully taken the cyan device off Cubot and was now strapping it onto himself. "Can robots hallucinate?"
"It depends," Ivo answered, taking a little box with 2 buttons on it, one green and the other red, out of his pocket. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some ponies to meet." With that, Ivo pressed the red button and disappeared in a flash of cyan light, leaving Cubot and Orbot utterly speechless.
After a couple of seconds of silence, Orbot asked, "It depends? What could he possibly mean by that?" at the same time Cubot asked, "If he could do it that quickly all along, why did we need that huge light show to send me off then?"
