Interlude - Eggman's Experiment

Cubot picked at the circular cyan device strapped to his chest. The straps were buckled tight against him, a little too tight for Cubot's liking. However, Ivo didn't really notice the robot's discomfort since he was too busy punching buttons on the nearby control panel.

Orbot gazed at Cubot with concern. The cube shaped robot was standing in the center of the medium sized room on a metallic pad. Surrounding the pad were four metal poles, on top of which were small tesla coils. Orbot worried that whatever Ivo had planned would hurt or destroy Cubot. Hopefully that wouldn't happen.

"Are you sure this is, um, safe?" asked Orbot, glancing at Ivo. "Because, to me, this doesn't look safe at all."

"Quiet you!" Cubot exclaimed with his newly acquired English accented voice. "I'm helping, and that's all that matters."

"Don't worry, he should be fine," Ivo assured, looking at the small screen on the control panel and double checking his calculations. "This'll transport him to another universe. If my calculations are correct, the universe he appears in will be relatively harmless."

Cubot scratched his head. "Another universe?"

"What if he gets stuck in the other universe?" questioned Orbot. "He's not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed."

"Oi!"

Ivo shook his head. "I've set an automatic timer. He'll be transported back here after thirty seconds. Unless something malfunctions, of course."

"Are we going to do this or not?" interjected Cubot impatiently.

"Yes, all my calculations are put in the computer. If you're ready Cubot, we can begin," Ivo said, gazing at the cube shaped robot.

Cubot saluted. "I'm ready boss."

Ivo looked down at the control panel and pushed a small green button. A red light in the center of the cyan device on Cubot's chest began to glow. Suddenly, cyan electricity arced its way from the device onto one of the poles connected to the pad which Cubot was standing on. The electricity spread to all four poles, surrounding the cube shaped robot in a crackling wall of cyan electricity. With a bright flash of cyan light, Cubot disappeared, the crackling and whirring noises caused by the device on his chest also going away.

Once the room was silent and completely still, Ivo pushed a microscopic button on his glasses. A small digital clock popped up in the right lens of his glasses.

Orbot looked up at Ivo. "What do we do now?"

"Now," Ivo began, focusing almost entirely on the small clock, "we wait."
