Slowly drifting out of her unconscious state. She groaned, moving her body into an upright position weakly. Her arms feeling weightless; as she scanned her surroundings. Groaning again, she wipes her forehead. Even though it was dark outside, the claustrophobic and cushioned area was a car of some sort. Although, she couldn't recognize who it even belonged to. She tried to remember, where she even was, her mind grew fuzzy at even trying. All she could remember was the party she was at. Presumably last night. The bright music; and the drunken freedom of a teenage girl. Who was she with? Faces and voices were blurred, the only thing she could remember was the pulses of the electronic music. She had still felt pretty battered. Most movements were slow and sluggish. As her mind wasn't as fast as usual. The night sky seemingly enveloping the outside of the car in inky darkness. Which she now noticed, was as still as can be. Which was strange for her, as Canterlot was very busy. Enough so to get certain remarks from passerby's hoping to get a form of sexual gratification. Her inebriated mind slowly began to remember certain details. It was another party at Pinkies. The same old drunken fun. But, why was she here then? Surely her friends wouldn't have gotten on a joyride with her, would they? Was there even more than one person here? Rarities mind filled with various questions, each providing a distressing answer to her. Suddenly a vibration breaks the eerie silence. She gasps, startled by the sudden noise. Her concentration was broken, with the soft vibrations guiding her hand, she suddenly comes into contact with the shaky; object. She recognized it as a phone, immediately grabbing it. She observed it. Noticing the case was a translucent black, with; splatters of pink darted around it and a ruby-colored phone grip. She tilted her head, confused by the phone. It was familiar. She soon is snapped out of her thought by another vibration. She panics, hastily pressing the power button. A bright white light soon fills her eyes, having to squint to be able to see. The barely discernable text became less blurred to the confused woman. The clock reading that it was 4:13 am. Below that was a notification of a newly sent text. It only read, Where are you Rarity wanted to respond to it. Wanting to find out what happened. She quickly swiped her finger upwards on the phone. Trying to unlock it. A password screen soon showed. A four-digit code. Her eyes adjusted to the light, she begins to think. Struggling to find any combination to make it work. "Come on!" Rarity pleaded desperately. Feeling: anxious by her circumstance. Still: inputting random numbers into the phone. After many desperate tries, she eventually gave up. Cursing to herself, as the mysterious message taunted her. She quickly thought of how to escape the backseat of the car. Hoping if she did, she may find someone to help her. Unlocking the car door seemed obvious, but as she tried, it would not budge. She reached over towards the front seating; to unlock the car. Which she now saw was parked on the edge of a quarry. Now knowing where she was and how dangerous it may be, it did not stifle her fear. As; she flicked switches and pressed buttons. Eagerly, awaiting a familiar click of the now open car doors. But no such sound happened. As her panic and frustration grew, her mind went to a very desperate place. "break the window." She soon realized it was her only hope. And at this moment, she didn't mind getting her hands dirty. She at first punched the window, sending jolts of pain throughout her somewhat delicate body. As she huffed, she then resorted to her elbow. All that she was met, with: after repeated jabs. The strong window only had a tiny crack. Rarity was by now furious, anguished, scared, and above all else, confused. She then hoisted the phone, bringing it down multiple times against the glass. After many tries, and grunts of frustration. A noise came to respond to her. Along with the feeling of different shards of glass piercing her hands. CRASH The window had finally broken. But Rarity soon noticed the blood dripping from her hand. It pained her to move her digits. As she cried out in pain. Little shards of glass piercing her knuckles and fingers. But she had to overcome this. As she laid on her back, gripping the other car door, she drew her legs back. Focusing her strength on them. As she kicked the window. More of it fell apart as she kicked. Eventually leaving a giant hole where it used to be. The hole being decorated with many stalactites of glass. But not wanting to waste any time, Rarity sat upright slightly at an angle and began to climb through the newly made hole. Shrieks of pain were common, as glass clawed at her back and sides, ripping her clothes and skin. But she wouldn't give up. She climbed through the window eventually, however, meeting the cold and damp gravel face first. Her body impacting the ground loudly, as she cried in even more pain. Cursing repeatedly, as she soon got up onto her feet. Her front ached from the fall, sending her waves of even more pain. But through it all, Rarity was determined to survive. She soon stood tall, gripping the phone tightly. And while her head did spin, she managed to weakly turn on the phone. The screen is covered in her dried blood didn't bother her much, as she turned on the flashlight. It lit up her surroundings fairly well, giving her a good look at her surroundings. Besides the gravel road, and the quarry near it. There was nothing besides a seemingly thick woodland. She shuddered at the thought of being lost in such a place in the dark. As she walked at a slow pace, groaning slightly at the pain, she inhaled sharply through her teeth. As she walked behind the vehicle. It was an aqua blue tint, and it appeared to be a fairly modern car. Her eyes trailed around the vehicle's back, searching for any sort of clue to who it belonged to. She looked at the rear window, which was decorated with a simple sticker set of a family of four. One male, three females. All differing in height. She soon shook her head, deciding to not focus on such frivolities. As she made it to where the car was parked. To the left of it, sat a gigantic and deep quarry. So deep, her light didn't even reach the bottom. She stared into the inky abyss, afraid of what was happening to her. She spun around, her light flashing ahead of her dimly, as she tried to look for any markers of where she was. A shine suddenly caught her eye, as she moved her light over to it. It shined in the pale light, it's color barely discernable in the dark. But Rarity had enough to figure out what it was. "B-blood?" She said to herself. As a long and thick trail of blood seemed to stretch into the darkness. Her unease grew, more than her anger. As her mind ventured to places of what had happened here. Not knowing where else to go, she followed the trail. Her shoes occasionally giving an odd squeak against the damp gravel. She bent her light down, her focus being more on the trail under her than what was ahead of her. Following it with a steady pace. How much blood was there even? Who was here before her? What happened here? Were all questions that ran through her troubled mind. Her pace grew, deciding to walk faster along the trail. Hoping that whoever was here before her, found some sort of help. As she desperately needed it herself. She brought up the phone, suddenly feeling a rush of adrenaline. As she tapped the power button. Tapping the phone icon on the lower-left side. She hastily dialed the numbers 911. And brought the phone to her ear. Wanting any form of help. She heard the sound of someone picking up, as she readied herself to speak. "911 whats your emergency?" A tired and soft-spoken male voice asked. Rarity stumbled in her words. "Heh-hello officer? I n-need hel-" She was soon cut off by the voice, which raised a bit. "Hello? Is there an emergency?" Rarity stopped but figured it was the cell reception "Yes! There is! Help me!" She shouted into the phone. Hoping some of it would get through to the other end. Rather than being greeted by the voice again, her response was a loud and continuous shriek of static. Soft voices screaming would ebb and flow from the sudden interruption, as Rarity screamed at the sudden noise. Being put very on edge. "Please please please help me, sir! Please!" Nobody responded as the wail of the disturbing interference continued to play. Causing Rarity to bring the phone down, cursing to herself again. "G-goddamit!" Suddenly the loud noise stopped. And a voice whispered to her. Breathing hard on the other end. "Hush now Rarity. There are ears everywhere. Such language is only used by fools." Rarity's eyes widened. As she timidly replied, fearing the sudden voice. "Please help me! I don't know where I a-" She was interrupted again by the whispering voice. "Follow the trail." Rarity was taken back by this reply. Wanting answers, she asked, "Who are you?" The voice only repeated, "Follow the trail." Before suddenly hanging up. Leaving Rarity alone and distressed. Her fists shook, as she turned behind her. Looking back at the blood trail. Seeing how it tapered off into the darkness, she had no better option then to follow it. "Need to find someone. Maybe th-they can help me." She whispered to herself. Filling the soundless void with some sort of hopeful comfort. Her legs felt wobbly still. Her mind focused on the trail. It stretched into the seeming infinite of the road. Pain and slight drowsiness plagued her sluggish mind, causing her to drift haphazardly into seemingly random memories. Faint muffled words that burrowed deep into her psyche replayed suddenly and loudly. She turned, her tired arm still gripping the blood-stained phone tightly. As she stared back at the car. As she stared at the car, her scatterbrained mind focused only on one thing. That night. A few days ago. Rarity's car was soon parked in the semi-busy parking lot of the rich estate. The bass from the loud music boomed and shook the driveway softly. Rarity's eyes flicked to her younger sister, Sweetie Belle. As Belle looked back at her older sister. Smiling warmly. "Thanks for driving me." Sweetie belle thanked. As she unbuckled her seatbelt, her hand motioning for the door of the car. Rarity looked up at the house, its architecture wasn't uncommon around the wealthier districts. As it towered over her car. Rarity soon realized that Belle was leaving so soon, and broke the silence. "Hey. Um... do you still wanna hang out? Like, at your party. Like we can pick up your friends and just drive around, It'll be fun!" Belle turned. A bit baffled by her sister's offer. "My friends aren't your friend's sis." Rarity's hopeful smile soon faded, as she turned. Facing the window. She felt Belle touch her shoulder comfortingly. "Hey. What's wrong?" Belle asked. Concerned over her sister's sudden mood shift. Rarity turned, feeling sudden burning anger slowly building from Belles's rejection. "Nothing. Can you ever stop asking me that?" She replied coldly. Her voice trembling with the strong emotions building up inside her. As she picked at her white painted nails nervously. Looking at the ground. Belle sighed, moving her hand off her sister's shoulder. "Rarity." Rarity turned to Belle, tears stinging her eyes, threatening to fall. As her brain began to let out all of her bottled emotions. "Am I not allowed to be Sweetie? A-am I just supposed to be happy all the time around you? Buh-because I don't know if you've noticed, but I just lost someone f-fucking close to me! The least you could do is to not treat me like an embarrassment!" Rarity felt a lump in her throat, as she pushed out her frustrations with her sister. Tears now falling down the sides of her soft cheeks. As she inhaled. Belle bit her lip, her hand shook before suddenly bringing it down onto the top of the dashboard. Making a loud thud, as she looked visibly upset. "Fuck you Rarity!" Rarity's eyes widened, as Belle responded back with fury. Rarity sat, silent with shock. "Okay, you were sad before any of that happened! Before you had a fucking reason to be! A-and maybe I expect you to be happy because all you do is stick close to me! You just expect me, to constantly be okay with you! And check in on you! And ask if you're okay! Rarity I'm fucking tired of it! I need to have a life! Okay? And so do you." Rarity's heart fell in her chest. As Belle stared her down, her sister's eyes were like daggers, piercing her heart. Rarity's lip trembled, as she felt so much anger and betrayal in this one moment. Her mouth only said one thing. "Go." Belle huffed, grabbing the door handle and opening it, suddenly slamming it loudly against the car. Leaving Rarity alone with her thoughts. She sniffed, softly whimpering, as she backed up her car from the house. Driving away from that place, Rarity spoke to herself. Cursing her sister. As her mind continued to pound with anger, as she brought up her phone from her pocket. Her dampened eyes focused only on one number. Rainbow Dash's. As she clicked on it, hoping her best friend would pick up. Even though it was about 2 am. The phone dialed softly, as Rarity put it on speaker. Setting her phone down in her cupholder. A tired, and raspy voice soon began to speak. Obviously tired. "Hey, Rarity. What's goin' on?" Rarity, tears coating her face by now, responded with haste. "I-I need to stay at your pl-place tonight!" Those last words echoed in her mind, as Rarity soon drifted back to her surroundings. The wind softly whistled through the trees behind her, as she felt the cold wind start to claw at her back. Making her shiver. As Rarity looked at the car, mouth agape. Knowing who it belonged to. "It's my car!" Her mind stated. As much as she wanted to go back to her car, she had to keep moving. There had to be someone close by right? She turned, much to her chagrin began to walk on the trail. She found herself aimlessly walking on it, the seemingly endless path beginning to wear down on her. Not that the eerie silence helped calm her heightened nerves. To ease the tension a bit, she defaulted to whistling a tune. One of her friends, Pinkie Pie, sang. She called it "Giggle at the Ghostly" It did help a bit. And for a brief moment, Rarity began to stop being as nervous. Although her body was damaged, and her situation dire, she thought she could get out of here oka- "Hey! Rarity!" A whispered voice spoke. Sending Rarity into a panicked silence. She stood still, looking around her surrounding for the source of the voice. Until she saw far off in the distance. a figure barely discernable from the shadows. It stood, its hair occasionally being blown in the chilly wind. "Heh-hello? Who are you?" Rarity could barely choke out this response. Her throat felt like it was being stretched horizontally by the hands of fear. Her blood-stained hands shook, as she stared down at the figure. Blinking a couple of times, making sure it wasn't her eyes playing tricks on her. Rarity took a step forward, wanting to get a better look at the person. Although in this situation, she doubted it was the best idea. As she stepped forward, the figure began to turn around, and walk back into the darkness. "Hey! Who ah-are you!" Again the figure didn't reply to her query, instead of continuing at a slow pace. Rarity didn't know what to do, her mind was sent in a flight or fight response. She called out to the figure again. "HEY! WHAT'S GOING ON HERE?!?" Rarity began to follow, keeping a far distance away from them. Wanting to have an answer for what was happening to her. As she got closer, she focused her flashlight on the figure. A small glint hit them, which illuminated part of the figure. Their clothing was an ill-fitting grey sweater and some black pants. Not any footwear. As rarity got this small glance, the figure sprinted forward into the darkness. Causing Rarity to sprint after them, yelling at them to stop. "HELP! WHERE ARE YOU GOING!" Rarity's determination to find out who this was seemed undying. As she followed the figure into the darkness. Which, after this running, became to feel denser. She had entered a fog, which obscured the girls' vision of the figure. Her flashlight didn't even seem to penetrate the cloud of inky darkness. Sending Rarity into more panic. Trying to find her way through in the desperate attempt to find any sort of answer. The wind began to pick up, whistling loudly through the trees. As Rarity called out, her body was more than exhausted by now. Her pants and gasps for help and oxygen were only replied with the unfeeling howl of the wind. The pain and exhaust were soon unbearable, as she suddenly fell onto her hands. Retching and gasping helplessly. Her state of mind was as foggy as the inky cloud that surrounded her. Not being able to think at all. Everything was too much for her now, the ringing in her ears, the pain, the soaring wind, the veiled sight. Tears began to show in the sides of her tired eyes. She closed them tightly, pushing any tears she had left from her sore eyes. Wishing that she wasn't so afraid. That none of this had happened to her. Her cries of frustration and anger bellowed from her throat. Vomiting her emotions to the cold air and ragged gravel. Author's Note Yay! My first ever fanfic chapter is finally finished!
