Author's Note

The first chapter establishes a bit of plot. Nothing too weird happening here.

Chapter 1

„Are you really sure you want to do that?“ Twilight asked her friend Pinkie Pie.

The two ponies were standing in Twilights laboratory under the palace of friendship. The magical mirror in front of them was glowing while the machines around it were connected via tubes and vires and measuring energy and magical output. All lights were green, so at least the systems were running correctly.

“Of course I am.” Answered Pinkie and jumped around a little. “I want to have some fun in different realities too! I believe inter-dimensional traveling is super fun!”

Twilight sighed and rubbed her sleeves. She really shouldn’t allow Pinkie to get into these, her travels to other worlds for science always came with some risk. Her travels to the human world, in which every pony she knows is somehow hooked up to a school, have also been fun and maybe the reports to her friends were focused too much on all the fun and thrilling stuff.

Twilight had managed to take control of the mirror by using a combination of science and magic, now she was able to travel to other worlds. Most worlds were pretty much the same and the differences were minimal, like that world in which daisy sandwiches taste like peanut butter sandwiches. There are also words that are completely different, like the world in which every gender was swapped – Twilight had indeed a lot of fun there, but never told her friends about it. But the most interesting worlds were these in which evolution went a different way and not ponies were the leading life form, but humans, or dogs, or birds.

“Alright, alright… so I have picked a human world because the human worlds I visited were harmless so far. Also, I have put in a safety device, which will get you back at the latest after 12 hours. “ Twilight explained to her friend, hoping she was listening well “And don’t forget the rules you have to follow, stay low, try not to draw too much attention, and avoid all direct contacts on your first visit, we need to learn about this world before we establish communication.”

“Okie-Dokie-Lokie! Anything else I need to know?”

“Ah yes, this portal will bring you through time and space. You will be sent to Ponyville, but maybe it goes under another name and will look different. However, the safety device will get you back, wherever you are. I made it so, that only you can use it, just to be careful.”

Twilight walked over to the main computer and started the program to control the mirror. The only reason why she agreed to this, is because it was a chance for her to monitor her machines while someone was on the other side. Also, Pinkie Pie really wanted to visit other worlds to find new friends and make new party experiences and she was nearly indestructible, Twilight never had found anything that could do any physical damage to the pink mare.

She pulled the main switch and the surface of the mirror changed so it looked like it was a liquid. Pinkie Pie wasted no more time and just jumped through it!
