It was night out, On a small dirt road with no traffic, a forest on both sides, a black pickup truck was driving on said road, inside was an African American man, he had military work clothes on. The name on his uniform said Brock.

He was listening to some classic rock, the speakers blaring music loud enough to hear outside the truck.

Brock’s focus was broken as his phone received a text message. Looking at the screen, he barely noticed the deer crossing the road. Once he looked back at the road and saw the deer, he put on his brakes and tried to swerve out of the way but drove into the nearby woods.

“Oh shit!”

He braced himself for anything until the car came to a halt.

Brock opened his eyes to see trees covering his view, everywhere he looked there were trees, bushes, and rocks.

He needed to get his car back on to the road, he tried to back the car up but it seemed he had gotten stuck in some very thick mud.

“Oh fuck my day!”

Brock pulled out his phone so he could try to call a tow truck out here but when he tried he realized he had no signal.

“God damn it!!!”

He heard some growling in the bushes, he was greatly confused, he was gonna go with a coyote but coyotes usually wouldn’t attack a full grown man, it couldn’t have been wolves since wolves were unheard of in these parts of Texas.

He saw some green eyes in the darkness of the foliage. He slowly reached for his gun, an M1911

As he drew his handgun, one of the creatures made his way out of the bushes.

“What the hell are you?”

The creature only responded in growls. It had the form and body structure of a wolf, but was made out of wood. It took a battle stance and charged soon after but didn’t get far as a bullet found it’s way into the beast’s skull.

The Green eyes faded as the creature fell to the ground.

“Ha, Get some mother fucker!!!”

Right at that moment, another wooden wolf pounced on him, sending both to the ground,

Brock used both of his hands to hold the beast’s jaws open which were inches away from his face. He used one of his knees to push against the wolf’s belly as he sent the wolf flying sideways into a tree. It got back up and advanced on him again.

“You fuckers are hard to take down, I’ll give you that, now, who wants some more.”

Two others joined their fellow wolf in chewing apart Brock but that was all stopped as a large figure threw the first wolf as it crashed into a tree, turning into a pile of splintered wood.

He looked up to see a man standing over him, he wore a regular vest (not a kevlar vest) and wore ripped up long pants.

The one thing Brock didn’t expect him to do was let out a deathly terrifying roar. With that, the wooden beasts ran back into the forest. The being turned around to reveal his face and neck were not of a human but of some kind of fish, his face was similar to a barracuda.

“Wh-who are you,” Brock asked, to be honest, he was a marine, yet he was showing his fear to this mutant being.

“Your welcome, weakling, now I think we should set up camp, you gonna help me or not.”

Author's Note

Sorry for the short chapter, keep in mind I have a plan for throwing this guy in. Unlike our two joking Army pilots, this guys a diehard marine, he’s very serious. I was very busy so I could only do so much.
