My Journey In Equestria
8. Easy As Pinkie Pie
Previous ChapterNext ChapterI couldn’t study up on Equestrian citizenship on an empty stomach, so I needed to find somewhere to eat.
The establishment that I chose was not a restaurant, but it was good enough for me.
“Welcome to Sugarcube Corner, dear!” said a blue Earth pony mare, who saw me trotting in.
“I’m Cup Cake,” she told me. “And this is my husband, Carrot Cake,” she continued, pointing to a yellow Earth pony stallion.
“Would you mind if I stayed here to eat my apples?” I asked Mr. and Mrs. Cake. “I don’t want to buy any sweets today,” I explained.
“Of course, you may,” Mr. Cake told me.
Mr. Cake assigned me to table 11. I sat down there, and with my horn, I untied my sack to eat the apples that Applejack had given me for free.
No sooner had I bitten into my first apple than a pink Earth pony mare popped out and squealed at me!
“SURPRIIIIISE!” she squealed, making me drop my apple onto the table!
“Did I surprise you?” she asked me, talking at about 300 words per minute! “Did I? Did I? Huh, huh, huh?”
“You didn’t just surprise me; you scared me!” I snapped, giving her a stern reprimand.
Apparently, I had made the pink Earth pony cry, because she wailed like a newborn foal!
As an act of contrition, I asked her, “Would you like a sour apple?”
She stopped crying immediately and shouted, “Ooooooh—would I ever!”
I hoofed her two of the apples left in my sack.
I could tell that she enjoyed the apples’ taste, because after she ate them, she said, “Yummy-licious!”
“Yummy-licious?” I thought aloud, rather confused.
“Uh-huh!” she answered. “I love goofy, made-up words!”
“I presume that you also love the color pink,” I guessed.
“Yes-indeedie-doodles!” she answered cheerfully. “My name is Pinkie Pie!”
“And my name is Lonesome Knight,” I answered back.
“Oh, no!” she cried in horror upon hearing my name. “I don’t want anypony to be lonesome!”
“Chill, Pinkie!” I told her. “It’s just my name; I don’t mind being alone.”
“Whew!” she shouted, and sighed in relief.
Eventually, I ate all four of my leftover sour apples and said good-bye to Pinkie Pie and Mr. and Mrs. Cake.
The three of them said good-bye right back to me, and I left Sugarcube Corner to head for the Golden Oak Library.
