//-------------------------------------------------------// My Journey In Equestria -by WatchTower1992- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// 1. From Out Of Nowhere //-------------------------------------------------------// 1. From Out Of Nowhere “Where am I? Why am I here?” I asked myself after standing up in the middle of nothing but greenery. Unbeknownst to me—at the time—I was straddling the border between Ponyville and the Everfree Forest! I was both lost and lonely. I had no idea what the name of my current location was, nor did I know which way was north! Because of my utter ignorance on those two matters, I screamed—at the top of my voice, no less—“WILL SOMEPONY PLEASE TELL ME WHERE I NEED TO GO?!” A white bunny heard my distress call and came hopping toward me. That bunny, who couldn’t speak, was kind enough to lead me to safety. It hopped off, and I followed it. Meanwhile, in an enormous cottage, a yellow pegasus mare had also heard me screaming. “Oh, my! Oh, my! Oh, my, my, my, my, my!” spluttered the pegasus in fright. “What was that noise? I hope that Angel’s OK out there.” The bunny that I met had led me directly to the cottage! The front door of the cottage had no door knocker, so I knocked on it with my front hoof. There was no answer, so I knocked more loudly. The frightened pegasus trotted slowly toward the front door of her cottage. “Thank you kindly,” I told the bunny, who smiled at me! I picked it up with both front hooves, and then, I asked it, “Would you like to be my friend?” Finally, the pegasus answered the door, at which point she gasped in relief to see the bunny that I was holding. “Angel!” she cried. “Where were you? You had me worried sick!” “You know this bunny?” I asked her. “Of course, I do—he’s mine!” she answered. “Please come in,” she pleaded—very politely, no less! I complied with her plea and entered her cottage. Author's Note The title of this chapter comes from that of the two-part premiere of Power Rangers In Space. Each of the many horizontal rules denotes a change of scene. //-------------------------------------------------------// 3. Will You Marry Me? //-------------------------------------------------------// 3. Will You Marry Me? “Speaking of love,” I told Fluttershy, “I always wanted somepony to marry.” “Goodness—I don’t know,” she answered. “Marriage is a heavy burden to carry.” “I’m a unicorn of my word, Fluttershy,” I countered. “Can’t you trust me to carry such a burden?” I pleaded. “It’s not about you, Lonesome,” she explained. “It’s about me.” “Oh? Why do you say that?” I asked. “Well, you see,” she answered, “I’m responsible for a whole menagerie of animals right here at home.” “I could help you take care of them,” I offered. “That’s very kind of you,” she answered, very much pleased by my offer. “So is that a yes or a no?” I asked, getting concerned. “I’m afraid I have to say no,” she finally answered. My face fell. “Then I guess I really will be lonely after all,” I sighed. “I’m so sorry that I disappointed you,” she apologized. “It’s all right, Fluttershy,” I answered, consoling her. “Maybe somepony else will marry me instead,” I thought. “Well, I guess that this is good-bye,” I told her. With that, I turned around and left Fluttershy’s cottage with my head held low. “Good-bye, Lonesome Knight,” answered Fluttershy, now heartbroken. Author's Note This chapter features a reversal of the traditional rejected marriage proposal. It’s a reversal in that the party who rejects the proposal (Fluttershy), not the party who proposes (Lonesome Knight), gets a broken heart. //-------------------------------------------------------// 4. Take Me To Your Leader! //-------------------------------------------------------// 4. Take Me To Your Leader! I followed the path away from Fluttershy’s cottage, and before very long, I arrived at the Ponyville Park. That’s where I saw a blue pegasus mare, who, unlike Fluttershy, was not shy in the least. As a matter of fact, she was not just bold, but brash, stubborn, and very rude as well! Luckily for me, however, she was not talking to anypony now; she was practicing her aerial attacks and stunts. My eyes remained fixed on her multiple marvelous maneuvers. “Whoa, mama!” I exclaimed softly in utter amazement. The blue pegasus descended from the sky and touched down; she decided that it was time for a break. “Are you one of the Pony Rangers?” I asked her, eager to get to know her. “Nope—I’m just a fan,” she answered. Then, she introduced herself in the form of a military march: “Rainbow Dash is my full name; aerobatics is my game!” “Put her there, partner!” she told me, extending her front hoof for a hoofshake. “Nice to meet you, Rainbow Dash!” I answered, shaking hooves with her. “What’s aerobatics?” I asked Rainbow Dash. “What I just did,” she answered. “You—were—awesome!” I burst out, very much amazed by her fantastic flying flair. “You just stole my thunder!” she joked, and burst out laughing! “Since you’re a fabulous flyer,” I asked her, “would you mind guiding me to whoever is in charge of this place?” “Never fear; Dash is here!” she announced, and took off to fly toward the Ponyville Town Square. Taking her answer as a yes, I followed her immediately. Author's Note I use the title of this chapter in its most literal sense. That means that I do not characterize Rainbow Dash as a pony from outer space, even though Pony Rangers is the My Little Pony universe’s analog of Power Rangers, in which five superheroes (or more) fight against evil space aliens. By the way, Rainbow Dash still wants to join the Wonderbolts, but in this story, it’s a means to another end: to join Equestria’s military. //-------------------------------------------------------// 5. The Proper Channels //-------------------------------------------------------// 5. The Proper Channels Rainbow Dash and I arrived at the Ponyville Town Hall, which was where the mayor of Ponyville lived and worked. “Thanks a lot, Rainbow Dash,” I told her. “I would be lost were it not for you.” “No problem-o, partner!” she answered. “Say,” she added, “I didn’t get your name yet.” “My name is Lonesome Knight,” I answered. “Lonesome Knight?!” she cried, surprised by my name. “Uh-huh,” I confirmed. “What an awesome name!” she burst out. “Well, I gotta dash!” she told me. “Good-bye now,” I told her. “See you around, partner,” she answered, and flew off like lightning! I trotted straight into the Town Hall building, where I saw a tan Earth pony mare. “You’re a new face,” she told me. “May I help you?” she asked. She was being very polite to me, even though I was new to Ponyville. “Are you the pony in charge of Ponyville?” I asked her. “The one and only!” she answered proudly. “My name is Mayor Mare,” she told me, “and you are to address me as Ms. Mayor.” “I’m single,” she explained. “All right, Ms. Mayor,” I began, “let’s say that you wanted to move in.” “And what do you mean by that?” she asked me. “Well, to tell the truth,” I explained, “I need somewhere to live.” “Ah!” she cried. “I got it now!” She suggested, “How about the Golden Oak Library?” “How long will I get to stay there?” I inquired of her. “Ninety (90) days,” she answered. “Tops,” she added. “I want to move in permanently,” I told her, rather disappointed. “Then you need to become a citizen of Equestria first,” she told me. “May I at least get settled in first?” I pleaded. “Certainly,” she answered. Author's Note From this chapter on, until he becomes a citizen of Equestria, Lonesome Knight will be a resident alien in Ponyville. No, he is not a space alien; he was born somewhere in Equestria, and I’m not telling you where just yet. //-------------------------------------------------------// 7. Sweet & Sour Apples //-------------------------------------------------------// 7. Sweet & Sour Apples After a few hours at the library, I began to grow hungry. “I hope that there’s a restaurant nearby,” I thought, and left the library. Having found no adequate restaurants in Ponyville, I decided to leave Ponyville, hoping to find a good one somewhere else. Fortunately, it wasn’t long before I arrived at Sweet Apple Acres! There, I spotted an orange Earth pony mare! She was wearing a brown cowboy hat and slamming her hind hooves into many apple trees! I waved to her to get her attention. “MAY I HAVE SOME FOOD, PLEASE?” I called to her. She galloped over to me and answered, “Sure thing, partner! Help yourself!” “Ma’am,” I asked her, “do you have any sour apples?” “Why do you ask?” she inquired of me. “Do you want some?” “I never tasted a sour apple before,” I answered. “I know that this place is called Sweet Apple Acres, but—” “You bet your bottom Bit we do!” she answered proudly. “How many do you want?” she asked me. “Six, please,” I answered. “I’m famished!” I explained. She filled a burlap sack with six green sour apples and tied it closed. “You need help carrying them?” she asked me, hoofing me the sack. I carried the sack magically—with my horn! “Does that answer your question?” I countered slyly. “Whoa, Nellie!” she cried, amazed by what I was doing. “I’m a unicorn,” I explained. “My name is Lonesome Knight,” I told her. “I’m Applejack,” she answered, and she and I shook hooves. “How much do I owe you for the apples?” I asked Applejack. “They’re free,” she answered. “You don’t owe me squat.” “Thanks, Applejack!” I told her. “Good-bye now.” “Bye!” she answered. “Come back soon, you hear?” “I will!” I promised her, and trotted back to Ponyville with my sack of apples. Author's Note The title of this chapter is similar to the title of a Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad episode: Sweet & Sour Kilokahn. //-------------------------------------------------------// Next Time…A New Story! //-------------------------------------------------------// Next Time…A New Story! I have decided to end my story here. Don’t worry, everypony; there’ll be a sequel very soon. Author's Note The title of this closing “chapter” is a reference to the message at the end of each Pokémon series: Next time…a new beginning! I did not forget about Twilight Sparkle; you will get to see her in the sequel. //-------------------------------------------------------// MLD & BGI //-------------------------------------------------------// MLD & BGI Note: MLD stands for Mandatory Legal Disclaimer; BGI stands for BackGround Information. Sent By An Angel //-------------------------------------------------------// 2. Sent By An Angel “I want to thank you personally for finding my dear, sweet Angel,” the yellow pegasus told me. “And I want to thank Angel personally for rescuing me!” I answered. “From what?” asked the pegasus. “From being lost, of course!” I answered. “Oh, my goodness!” she cried. “Were you afraid?” she asked me. “Very afraid,” I answered, “and lonely, too!” “You have no reason to be afraid or lonely anymore,” she told me, consoling me greatly. “What’s your name, by the way?” I asked the pegasus. “My name is Fluttershy,” she answered. “And my name is Lonesome Knight,” I answered back. “Well, you’re not really lonesome now, Lonesome Knight,” she countered. “But I am very, very shy,” she added. “You’re not being shy around me, though,” I countered. “That’s because I have no reason to be afraid of you,” explained Fluttershy. “After all, you found my precious bunny, Angel, and I love him as though I’m his mother.” Author's Note In this chapter, Fluttershy reveals that Lonesome Knight (my original character for this story) has saved her from the utter humiliation that comes of being as shy as she starts out in the canon. //-------------------------------------------------------// 6. Baubles & Books //-------------------------------------------------------// 6. Baubles & Books At the Golden Oak Library, I caught another mare’s eye! That mare was a white unicorn—just like me! As soon as she saw me trotting in, she gasped romantically! “HELLO-O-O-O-O, HANDSOME!” she cried in a singsong manner. “Oh?” I thought aloud, and turned to face the white unicorn mare. “You think that I’m handsome, do you?” I asked her. “I don’t just think so, darling,” she answered. “I know so!” “I just love your accent,” I commented. “Oh, why, thank you kindly, darling!” she cried. “I don’t mean to pry,” I told her. “But what are you doing here?” I asked her. “I came here to borrow a book on gems!” she answered. “For what purpose?” I inquired of her. “To see which gems are the most fashionable today, of course!” she burst out, batting her eyelashes rapidly. “Oh—OK, then,” I answered, showing no interest in her favorite subject matter. “I’m Lonesome Knight,” I told the white mare, and offered to shake hooves with her. “Such a romantic name!” she cried, gasping upon hearing it. She thought, “I can see it now—you and me, together forever, like a brave knight—you—who’s rescued a princess—me—from a fate worse than death! We could live happily ever after!” I just stared at her, waiting for her to shake my hoof. “My sincerest apologies!” she cried, snapping out of her daydream. “My name is Rarity,” she finally told me, shaking hooves with me. “It pleases me greatly to make your acquaintance.” “The mayor gave me permission to stay here,” I told her. “I hope you don’t mind.” “Not one little bit,” she answered. “Make yourself at home, and enjoy your stay!” I could tell that Rarity’s hospitality had pleased me a lot, so I decided to stay at the library for a while. Author's Note The title of this chapter is a reference to Baubles & Beads, a resale shop close to where I live. //-------------------------------------------------------// 8. Easy As Pinkie Pie //-------------------------------------------------------// 8. Easy As Pinkie Pie I couldn’t study up on Equestrian citizenship on an empty stomach, so I needed to find somewhere to eat. The establishment that I chose was not a restaurant, but it was good enough for me. “Welcome to Sugarcube Corner, dear!” said a blue Earth pony mare, who saw me trotting in. “I’m Cup Cake,” she told me. “And this is my husband, Carrot Cake,” she continued, pointing to a yellow Earth pony stallion. “Would you mind if I stayed here to eat my apples?” I asked Mr. and Mrs. Cake. “I don’t want to buy any sweets today,” I explained. “Of course, you may,” Mr. Cake told me. Mr. Cake assigned me to table 11. I sat down there, and with my horn, I untied my sack to eat the apples that Applejack had given me for free. No sooner had I bitten into my first apple than a pink Earth pony mare popped out and squealed at me! “SURPRIIIIISE!” she squealed, making me drop my apple onto the table! “Did I surprise you?” she asked me, talking at about 300 words per minute! “Did I? Did I? Huh, huh, huh?” “You didn’t just surprise me; you scared me!” I snapped, giving her a stern reprimand. Apparently, I had made the pink Earth pony cry, because she wailed like a newborn foal! As an act of contrition, I asked her, “Would you like a sour apple?” She stopped crying immediately and shouted, “Ooooooh—would I ever!” I hoofed her two of the apples left in my sack. I could tell that she enjoyed the apples’ taste, because after she ate them, she said, “Yummy-licious!” “Yummy-licious?” I thought aloud, rather confused. “Uh-huh!” she answered. “I love goofy, made-up words!” “I presume that you also love the color pink,” I guessed. “Yes-indeedie-doodles!” she answered cheerfully. “My name is Pinkie Pie!” “And my name is Lonesome Knight,” I answered back. “Oh, no!” she cried in horror upon hearing my name. “I don’t want anypony to be lonesome!” “Chill, Pinkie!” I told her. “It’s just my name; I don’t mind being alone.” “Whew!” she shouted, and sighed in relief. Eventually, I ate all four of my leftover sour apples and said good-bye to Pinkie Pie and Mr. and Mrs. Cake. The three of them said good-bye right back to me, and I left Sugarcube Corner to head for the Golden Oak Library. Author's Note The title of this episode comes from a lyric from the full version of the theme song from My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic.
