BGI: Twilight Sparkle is a purple unicorn mare. Shining Armor, a white unicorn stallion, is her elder brother. She hails from Canterlot, the capital of Equestria. She has moved into Ponyville and decided to stay with me at the Golden Oak Library. Author's Note This story picks up where My Journey In Equestria left off. It is therefore a deviation ab initio from Friendship Is Magic. //-------------------------------------------------------// 1. The New Mare On The Block //-------------------------------------------------------// 1. The New Mare On The Block “Good afternoon,” announced Twilight Sparkle as she trotted into the Golden Oak Library. “I never saw a face like yours before,” I remarked upon seeing her for the first time. “Hmmm—you remind me of my brother,” she commented, getting a good look at me. “Well, I’m not,” I corrected her, and turned sideways to show her my Cutie Mark. “I stand corrected,” she answered upon seeing my Cutie Mark. “I’m Twilight Sparkle, by the way,” she told me. “And I’m Lonesome Knight,” I answered. “I’m new to this place,” I added. “What a lucky coincidence!” she cried. “I’m new here, too!” “I got to visit the Town Hall this morning,” I told her. “The mayor told me,” I continued, “that I had 90 days to become a citizen of Equestria, and that if I did, I could move here permanently!” “That must have been very nice of the Mayor!” she cried, feeling delighted for me. “I’d love to be a citizen,” I confessed to her, “but I don’t know what to do to become one.” “What a lucky coincidence!” she cried again. “I used to study Equestrian nationality law!” “All right!” I cried with excitement. “Let’s get studying!” Author's Note The title of this chapter is a play on the phrase the new kid on the block. Twilight Sparkle is the “new mare on the block” in question. //-------------------------------------------------------// 3. Where’s Applejack? //-------------------------------------------------------// Author's Note Within this five-chapter arc, each chapter will lead into the next one via a phrase that combines aspects of two ponies of the Mane Six. Example: apple pie = Pinkie Pie → Applejack. 3. Where’s Applejack? No sooner had Pinkie Pie left Sugarcube Corner in the ambulance than Applejack entered Sugarcube Corner with a whole cartload of apples! “Howdy, Mr. and Mrs. Cake!” she hollered, expecting an answer from the owners of the establishment. Mr. Cake trotted over to the counter and answered, “Good afternoon, ma’am!” When he spied the cart of apples, he gasped in relief and turned to face Applejack. “Thank you ever so much!” he cried. “Now we can bake many more apple pies!” “Don’t mention it, partner,” answered Applejack. “I’m always willing to lend you a hoof!” //-------------------------------------------------------// 4. Where’s Rarity? //-------------------------------------------------------// 4. Where’s Rarity? Rarity had borrowed Glamorous Gems Galore! from the Golden Oak Library. Now, she was at home—at the Carousel Boutique—devouring the book, paying meticulous attention to every word on every page. “Now, let me see,” she thought as the turned the pages over. “What sorts of gem would a damsel in distress wear?” As soon as she turned to page 111 of the book, she gasped, “Jackpot!” There, she saw all twelve birthstones on the same page—one for each month of the year! One of the birthstones—the amethyst—caught her attention immediately. “Dashing!” she whispered, having come to an executive decision. Author's Note Yes, Rarity’s birthstone is the amethyst—a gem exactly the same color as the jewel on the necklace that symbolizes her Element of Harmony. //-------------------------------------------------------// 6. Where Art Thou, My Beloved One? //-------------------------------------------------------// 6. Where Art Thou, My Beloved One? Poor Fluttershy was all alone—except for all her animal friends—in her hidden cottage. She was sitting on her rump—on the floor of her house—and crying her eyes out! “Oh, how could I?!” she sobbed, covering her eyes with her front hooves. “I had exactly one chance to make friends with somepony,” she continued, “and I blew it!” “Everypony knows that I’m shy,” she thought, still sobbing, “but that’s no excuse to push anypony away from me!” “This is ALL MY FAULT!” she shrieked, because she could tolerate her situation no more. Angel, having heard Fluttershy shrieking, hopped up to her to comfort her. They cuddled for a good, long while, and although it didn’t stop Fluttershy’s crying right away, it did help to stop it eventually. Author's Note In the very next chapter, you will get to see whether Lonesome Knight passes his citizenship exam! Are you excited yet? //-------------------------------------------------------// 7. The Results Are In! //-------------------------------------------------------// 7. The Results Are In! “So what’s the verdict, Ms. Mayor?” I asked, standing next to Twilight Sparkle at the Ponyville Town Hall. “You passed!” cheered Mayor Mare. “Congratulations—you’re officially a citizen of Equestria!” she told me, very proud for me. “Well, Lonesome Knight,” piped up Twilight Sparkle, “are you going to stay in Ponyville?” “You bet,” I answered. “Where in Ponyville would you like to live?” Mayor Mare asked me. “I have my heart set on a certain mare who lives quite a long way away,” I answered. “Her name is Fluttershy,” I added. “Technically, Fluttershy does not live in Ponyville,” she warned me. “However,” she explained, “her mailing address is in Ponyville.” “I didn’t know that!” I told her. “All the same,” I added, “I want to move in with her.” “Are you sure you don’t want to live in the library?” Twilight Sparkle asked me. “I, for one, would love to live there.” “My mind’s made up, Twilight,” I answered. “Enjoy your new home—wherever it might be!” Mayor Mare told me, and then, the three of us bade one another good-bye. Author's Note To the best of my knowledge, the canon never explicitly says whether Fluttershy’s cottage is in Ponyville or not. I resolve that problem with this very chapter. //-------------------------------------------------------// 8. Will You Marry Me? (Revisited) //-------------------------------------------------------// 8. Will You Marry Me? (Revisited) Remembering the directions that Rainbow Dash had given me, I headed for Fluttershy’s cottage. Angel heard a knock on the door of Fluttershy’s cottage and signaled for her to go answer it. Fluttershy and I were back together, but this time, we were both standing right outside the cottage. “I considered what you’d told me,” Fluttershy told me, “and I’m very, very sorry that I told you no.” “I would love to have somepony living with me,” she confessed, “and I need somepony with which to share my feelings.” “Would you still like some help taking care of your animal friends?” I asked her. “Oh, yes,” she answered. “I need all the help I can get,” she explained. “So, what do you think, Lonesome Knight?” she asked me. “Will you marry me?” she proposed. “I will, indeed,” I answered. At last, the both of us gave each other a warm hug. Author's Note There’s going to be one more sequel. That sequel will focus on the wedding between Fluttershy and Lonesome Knight! //-------------------------------------------------------// Next Time…A New Story! //-------------------------------------------------------// Next Time…A New Story! I have decided to end my story here. Don’t worry, everypony; there’ll be another sequel very soon. Author's Note You will learn more about Equestrian law in the sequel—the final story of this series! //-------------------------------------------------------// 2. Where’s Pinkie Pie? //-------------------------------------------------------// Author's Note I, being a human, have no idea what the nature or content of the citizenship law of Equestria is, so I decided to put you in suspense by turning the focus of the story away from Lonesome Knight’s citizenship test and toward the whereabouts of the Mane Five (i.e. the Mane Six minus Twilight Sparkle). The first of these “Meanwhile, back on Earth…”-type chapters will focus on Pinkie Pie, and no, its title does not come from the name of the game that she played with the Cake twins in Baby Cakes (episode 213). 2. Where’s Pinkie Pie? Meanwhile, at Sugarcube Corner, Pinkie Pie had left all the shelves clean out of apple pie! “Mmm-mmm-mmm-mmm-mmmmmmm—toasty!” she chirped after finishing off the last of the pie. “Ooooooooooooh—I’m going to faint!” she whined, clutching her stomach region with both front hooves. Not even her stomach—strong though it was—could tolerate the amount of apple pie that she had just eaten. Mr. Cake phoned the Ponyville Hospital for an ambulance while Mrs. Cake attended to Pinkie Pie, of whom the latter was now unconscious. “It’s going to be OK, dear,” Mrs. Cake told Pinkie Pie. “You’ll be back on your hind hooves by the time you come back.” //-------------------------------------------------------// 5. Where’s Rainbow Dash? //-------------------------------------------------------// 5. Where’s Rainbow Dash? High above Ponyville, in a floating building known as the Cloudominium, Rainbow Dash was watching the newest episode of My Little Pony Rangers on her personal television set. Somepony knocked on her door, which interrupted her. Remembering to pause the video, she sprang off the couch and dashed to her door. Standing outside the door was Rocket Punch—Spitfire’s cousin! “Oh-my-gosh-oh-my-gosh-oh-my-gosh-oh-my-gosh-oh-my-gosh!” shouted Rainbow Dash upon seeing him—at 200 words per minute, no less! “Huh?” he answered, very much confused. “Are you one of the Pony Rangers?” inquired Rainbow Dash of Rocket Punch. “I am, indeed,” confirmed Rocket Punch, who—unlike Rainbow Dash—kept his composure. “I’m so glad that I finally get to meet you!” cheered Rainbow Dash. “May I have your autograph, sir? Pleeeeeeeeease?” she begged Rocket Punch, pulling a puppy face. “Chill out, gal,” he answered. “You really need to learn to keep your cool—and yes, you may have my autograph.” After hoofing her his autograph, he explained, “I play the role of Pony Ranger V—Red on My Little Pony Rangers.” Very grateful to receive Rocket Punch’s autograph, Rainbow Dash told him, “You—are—AWESOME!” Author's Note Rocket Punch is a red pegasus stallion; his Cutie Mark is a rocket launcher. He is an original character for this story.
