Head Mare Starlight Glimmer came up to the small stairs in the mane room of The School. "Alright! You've all done amazing today on your classes and now it's time to celebrate Hearts and Hooves Day with your very special somecreature for the rest of the day. So happy Hearts and Hooves Day everyone!" She called out.
Silverstream looked at the ponies, both mare and stallion getting together and walking away side by side. Light Breeze, a new student, ran up to her special somepony Floating Light, a black stallion with a curly blue and white mane. She saw almost everypony with there soulmates, even Sandbar and Yona were together.
Then her eyes landed on Gallus flying over to there friends. She blushed as she realized she was staring at him and ponies started whispering next to her. She joined her friends quickly, her usually cheery mood faded.
Sandbar and Yona were standing close together while Ocellus and Smolder were talking excitedly about something. "Hey!" She said, trying to sound happy.
Yona looked up. "Hippogriff alright?" She asked, clearly catching the small hint of sadness in her voice. Silverstream blinked. "Great. Everything is great heh heh." She said forcing a smile. Yona smiled slyly "Okay, Yona take hippogriff word for it." She rumbled with disbelief in her voice.
"We're heading to the lake." Sandbar told them. "So see you." Yona said, following him happily out of the school.
Smolder took flight and fluttered there for a moment as Ocellus finished speaking. Silverstream didn't take any notice of them. "I'm gonna keep an eye them." Smolder finally said slyly. "Pulling some fun on them shouldn't hurt anything." She then flew at top speed after Sandbar and Yona. Ocellus giggled as she bounded off to follow Smolder.
Silverstream and Gallus sat alone.
Gallus chortled. "So, should we meet them at the lake or what?" He asked. "Smolder can't have all the fun!"
Silverstream snapped out of her thoughts at that. "O-oh um- I'll catch up!" She told him more cheerfully. He shrugged and waved goodbye before taking flight.
Silverstream sighed then walked to her room, door 5. She walked in, closed the door and flopped onto the bed. "I have to tell him today! On Hearts and Hooves day!" She hissed to herself. "I just don't know how!" She looked up at her desk with a piece of paper and a pink pen.
"A secret admirer card! That's it!" She laughed getting up and siting down at her desk, ready to write.
"No! That won't work!" Silverstream screeched throwing another crinkled paper in the trash. "It needs to be perfect!" She had been writing for only ten minutes but it felt like forever.
She herd a complaint from a pony on the other side of the wall. Silverstream froze. "Sorry!" She called, blushing. She turned back to the last piece of paper and thought.
Roses are red. . .violets are blue. . .violets are blue. . . I think griffons are great. . .and. . .
And. . .
I have a crush on you. . .
Silverstream thought about that one for a moment them smiled. "Yes that works great!" She said then wrote.
"Roses are red
Violets are blue
I think griffons are great
And I have a crush on you."
She folded it in an origami heart and scribbled it pink with a pink pen. She grabbed it in her talons and flew out of her room and down the hall to Gallus's room and placed it on his desk then quickly left and flew down the hall and out to the lake.
She got there to see Smolder, Ocellus and Gallus were hiding behind a tree watching Sandbar and Yona looking out over the lake. She flew over to them and sat quietly. "What's happening?" She whispered, now in a cheerful mood.
Smolder laughed softly. "Were going to throw a rock in the water and try to scare them." She said. "Okay!" Silverstream exclaimed.
"Happy Hearts and Hooves Day Yona." Sandbar said with care. Yona blushed then leaned in when Sandbar did. Smolder chortled softly as the two kissed. "Maybe we should hold off on the prank till later." She told Gallus and Silverstream.
The couple must have heard them, as their heads shot up and away from eachother. Sandbar blushed as he noticed his friends watched the whole thing. "Dudes!" He called. "Y-you didn't see us-uh. . ." He trailer away.
"Kissing?" Silverstream said slyly.
Sandbar and Yona both blushed.
"Don't worry buddy!" Gallus said, slapping a claw on Sandbar's back. "Your secrets safe with us."
Sandbar's blush faded slightly. "What are friends doing here?" Yona asked timidly. "Oh just poking some fun at the lovebirds." Smolder told them.
"Don't you all have Special Somecreature's of your own?"
"Nah." Smolder said, glancing quickly at Ocellus, who looked away bashfully. Silverstream and Gallus shook their heads, slightly subdued. Not yet at least. Silverstream hoped. They all soon left.
After awhile longer, Silverstream screeched inside, impatient. "Has he seen it yet?!" She thought desperately, only time would tell.
Gallus walked over to his desk to find a piece of paper colored pink in the shape of a heart. His eyes widened in shock, wondering how it got there. "W-What is this...? He said aloud. He opened the heart carefully.
"Roses are red
Violets are blue
I think griffons are great
And I have a crush on you."
Gallus blushed, hard. "How? Who? When?!" He stammered, looking around despite him being the only one there. He was so confused. Who would right this to HIM?
He looked over it again to make sure he wasn't seeing things. It was undeniable: somecreature had a crush on him!
He thought back through the students of the school, was it one of his friends? He didn't think any of them would have a crush on him, they all just liked him as a friend. The only one of them he could find any higher connection to was Silverstream and he had this different feeling when he was around her but it could also be a random student that got a crush on him at one point.
He didn't exactly know how he knew if he had a crush on someone, so it would be unlikely to feel the same about them.
He picked up the Secret Admirer paper in his talons and thought about that for a while. He couldn't help blushing as the thought rang through his mind. He knew that his friends would be out eating soon, that could probably take his mind off of the letter.
He ventured out of the school and into the forest. He spotted a rabbit hopping around close to the school, he hadn't had real prey in awhile since most other creatures at the school were herbivores. It kinda creeped them out at seeing a omnivore eating a bird or a squirrel at the school.
He couldn't resist, he took flight and swooped down to catch it as he landed. He put his prey in a paper bag, making sure the letter was safely away from it.
He returned to the school, and joined his friends at their table. Silverstream blushed as he came then looked down at her fish to avoid eye-contact.
The others, besides Smolder, looked a little unsettled at the grisly choice of lunch Gallus ignored. He still was thinking of the letter. He reached to make sure it was still safe but it was gone. He looked around to see it sitting at the end of somepony's table. The pony looked down at it and widened her eyes.
Gallus froze for a moment then raced over to the letter and snatched it. "Sorry, that's mine." He said, then ran back to his table. The pony looked puzzled.
He foolishly set it on the table and started on his rabbit, Ocellus looked at the paper curiously. It wasn't untill they were all finished eating, did she ask about it. "What's this?" She asked slyly, obviously having read the paper.
Gallus almost choked on rabbit fur at that.. "Nothing!" He exclaimed. The others got closer to see the paper. "Oooh, who's that from?" Smolder sneered in a teasing tone.
"I-I don't know!" He growled, snatching the paper away.
His friends stared at him with accusing smiles as he started blushing. Silverstream held back. He looked from one to the other then blushed harder, it raising from the sides of his face up to his eyes. He groaned and growled at the same time then, firmly grabbing the letter, flew away.
I hope he figures it out soon. Silverstream thought after he left.
The next morning
Hearts and Hooves day was over and school was back in session. She sat through the boring lecture of the month and eagerly learned what the other classes taught. She bounded into Professer Applejack's class of buckball. She was in the middle of the yard passing the ball, Smolder who was guarding the basket, sprang it to the earth pony next to Silverstream who tossed it to Gallus.
This went on a few more times. But as the ball flew to Gallus, Silverstream gasped as he misjudged where it was heading and it smacked hard into him.
He roared in pain and fell to the ground suddenly. He landed with his leg twisted wrong. She ran twords him. "Gallus!" She screeched. He was laying there, his paw twisted painfully. Silverstream had never seen him in pain before. He groaned.
She examined his leg. The blue fur wasn't torn but his paw was awfully still and turned around, his paw pads were swollen and turning pink. He screeched when she touched it. It must be broken! She thought.
Their other friends were there too, giving gasps of shock and worry. Head Mare Starlight was moving through, ordering them back. "Everycreature, back!" She ordered. She examined Gallus.
He was groaning painfully looking at his leg. "I-is it b-broken?" He asked painfully and shakily. Starlight touched his paw carefully. He gasped in pain.
"I do not know." She told him. "Nurse Redheart will be the judge of that." Silverstream looked at the miserable griffon.
A white pony with a pink mane came rushing over and examined him herself. "Will he be okay?!" Silverstream screeched at the nurse.
"His leg is broken but other then that he will be fine." Redheart told her. Their other friends came over to Silverstream and comforted her. Nurse Redheart and her companions came and helped Gallus to the medic.
Ocelles came over to Silverstream. "He'll be okay, Gallus always comes through for us."
Silverstream felt a tear run down her face, but how much pain Gallus was in made Silverstream shutter. . .she never wanted to see that again. . . but the image flashed in her mind over and over.
He HAS to be okay. His leg HAS to heal. She would make sure she visited him later. She looked up to see the earth-pony who had thrown the ball run around a bend and disappear.
3 hours later
She was with her friends walking to the medic later that day. "I still can't believe that happened." Smolder breathed. "Yeah, that was so not cool what that other pony did." Sandbar said.
Yona growled. "Yes! Pony better be sorry they did that to griffon!"
Silverstream wasn't listening, she was just flooded with worry. "I don't want to talk about it you guys." Silverstream told them. Smolder walked over to her. "Okay Silver." She said staying close to her best friend.
They got there and asked the pony at the desk. They came into the room. Gallus was there, siting there alone with his bandaged leg being held in the air by a sling.
"Oh, hey guys." He said unenthusiastically.
Silverstream gasped in relief and ran up to him. She hugged him happily. "Oh thank Nova your okay!"
Gallus looked surprised then gasped in pain. The ball had hit him right where she had hugged him. "Oh s-sorry." She chuckled softly. The others came over and greeted him warmly.
"You okay Gallus?" Sandbar asked. Gallus snorted. "Well my paw's broken but other than that, yeah." He said sarcastically.
Ocellus chortled. "Well at least that's good. Silverstream has been really upset ever since." Silverstream widened her eyes. "Uh...heh heh." She chuckled, blushing. Gallus did the same.
They all glanced at eachother then Yona, Smolder, Sandbar, and Ocelles started giving amused smirks at the two.
Gallus POV
It all made sense to him now! He knew who brought him that letter! And he knew what that different feeling was! his leg throbbed painfully but he ignored it, his eyes fixing to Silverstream.
Silverstream POV
"Well, we should get going back to the school." She told him. She glared at her friends as she started to walk away. They all said goodbye and left back to the school.
"So your the one who gave Gallus that crush letter didn't you?!" Smolder gasped. Silverstream blushed. "Y-yeah, it was me." She said shyly, looking away.
"Ooooh Silverstream has a crush!" She growled to the others teasingly.
"You got to tell Gallus next time!" Ocellus said.
Silverstream gasped. "Oh no! I couldn't tell him how I feel! What if he doesn't like me back?!" She hissed hiding behind her wings. "Oh come'on!" Sandbar nickered. "It's not that hard! I just told Yona straight up!"
"Well I'm not you Sandbar!" She exclaimed angrily. She then ran ahead.
She knew that after three days of dodging the question she must tell Gallus. She walked to the medic and asked the pony at the desk before visiting.
Gallus seemed happy today, which was rare for an injured griffon. They talked for a few moments. Then Gallus asked her something she had not expected. "Do you know anything about this?" He asked, holding up a letter.
She gulped as she realized what it was. The paper colored pink and the poem she had wrote. "I uh..." Silverstream began.
Gallus chirped softly. "It was you, wasn't it." He said. Silverstream blushed and smiled slightly. "I knew it had to be you." He said. "You've been acting weird since I found the letter." Silverstream nodded.
Gallus sat up more and hugged her. "I like you too Silver." Silverstream loved the feeling of the love between her and Gallus. "Once your out of this place Professor Pinkie Pie said she's throwing you a welcome back party, and I'll be there with you."
"I've always wanted a family, and now I think I've found mine." Gallus whispered. "You."
Author's Note
Consider this the Epilogue since Fimfiction doesn't let you post short chapters!
After a month of staying in the hospital, as he had no home to retreat to for recovery. Gallus finally got back to school even though his leg was still in a cast and still healing. Silverstream and him became special somegriff's and the school had never been so lively.
He stayed away from playing buckball for awhile but after some encouragement from Silverstream and his friends, he found joy in playing it again, at the party the pony who had thrown the ball came and gave him an apology letter.
Gallus and Silverstream stayed together all through the school, Gallus even became the first non-pony wonderbolt, and they stayed in Ponyville their whole lives, as teachers at the School of Friendship. And yes they will get married at some point!
