Chapter 1- Flurry Heart: They want me to do what!?
My name is Flurry Heart, and I am an Alicorn. As ruler of the Crystal Empire, I shoulder the hopes and dreams for my kingdom’s future. I guess that’s why they call me the Princess of Hope. When the populace thinks of Alicorns, they think of tall, imposing beings of might and magic. The all-knowing, all-powerful guardians of what is right and just. Alicorns tower above all, so they say. And in a way, I can see that being true.
I’m the niece of Twilight Sparkle. The Princess of Friendship. For many decades now, she has been the guiding light of Harmony uniting the whole of Equus; from the Dragons of the Dragonlands, to the Yaks of Yakyakistan, the barriers between cultures and languages have fallen, under her guidance. That is of course, with the help of her friends, the Elements of Harmony, as all lavishly hail them as such.
My mother is Princess Cadance; the Princess of Love, and though she has stepped down her active role as ruler, she still advises me from the shadows. In her heyday, she actively...well truth be told, I’ve never understood what exactly she did. She didn’t force ponies to be in love, nor did she watch such love as it occurred. Maybe...hmm...I suppose she encouraged love to be true and real between all beings; she encouraged all forms of love, for ponies to be who they were.
Meanwhile, my Grandmares are none other than the legendary Celestia and Luna; the Princesses of the Golden Sun and the Silver Moon, respectively. Heralded as literal deities at one time, the two have long since stepped down. Raising and lowering the sun and moon since time immemorial, the two sisters gave purpose to their loyal subjects encouraging them to live life, to toil, and partake in the fruits of those labors.
The accomplishments of my family are the stuff of legends. And then, there’s me. Little Flurry Heart; the Princess of Hope. That’s right, little. Unlike my accomplished family, even fully mature, I stand no taller than a crystal pony. I barely just earned my cutie mark, not one moon ago, when this yoke of responsibility was thrust onto me. The shadows of their accomplishments envelope me daily. How could I possibly compare to beings who have literally stood against the forces of Tartarus without blinking?
I’m sitting here on the throne now, and below me is a certain stone statue. Apparently Aunt Twilight has developed Grandmare Celestia’s gift for clairvoyance; according to this letter in my hooves, I’m the only right choice for this. The only right choice to redeem that which none of the Alicorns had been able to. The one who can give them hope.
I can’t believe this. I’m supposed to rehabilitate three legendary foes of the crown? Criminals of magic, of the land and its creatures. I’m supposed to give them hope, when I barely grasp the concept myself? For that matter, what even is hope? An abstract desire for a better future? How is that a talent, much less a magical gift? I barely got this crown and this is my first task?
My subjects think of Alicorns as the all-knowing, all-powerful beings that keep the world turning. Staring at this concrete prison before my throne, I can’t help but feel they couldn’t be more wrong. My horn glowing with magic, the statue begins to crack, revealing the preserved forms of the fiends within. With powers I barely understand and with shaky determination, could I actually do this? The concrete is crumbling to the ground and I am terrified. Can I reform Chrysalis, Cozy Glow, and Tirek? Something nopony in my family, with their many hundreds upon hundreds of accolades and accomplishments, could do? I can only hope.

Chapter 2- Chrysalis: You know nothing of my pain!
“Urghh!”
As my carapace slams to the ground, a strange, strangled gurgle escapes my throat. The ground is a cold, stone floor. This is not where I was. Where was the grassy field I was in just moments ag-oh. Right. That. That cursed concrete, as it slowly creeps over my muzzle. I shiver as that memory fills my mind. Which leads me to wonder. Where am I?
We, Changelings, are masters of adaptation. As long as I can figure out where I am, I can survive. I can...I can’t move my head. No, not just my head, my body is heavy, my limbs won’t respond. What is this? Is it magic? Am I being restrained?
No. I cannot sense any magical presence on my body. Ugh, this pain. My body is so weak. Why am I so hungry? No, not hungry. I’m starving! Desperately I try to cry out, to look for food, to do something, anything. But my body won’t respond. I can scarcely keep my eyes open. Wait. Is that Cadance? The darkness is closing in. My thoughts are erratic. This wretched headache... So hungry. What is she doing here? Why am I so hungry? Why is she shouting...why is she running towards…

Ugh...Where am I now? I can’t move. Am I finally in Tartarus where I belong? What is this cold sensation in my limbs? Huh? A tube? What is this? My eyes scan the room and fall upon a strange sight. That is not Cadance. It is too small, yet very clearly resembles her. A daughter perhaps? Is this the vengeance I’ve sought? Wait, it is talking to me.
“So...You claim this to be an infirmary. That you saved my life using your mother’s magic?... My horn, my magic. It isn’t working. What have you done to me?... Tell me!... I see; an anti-magical ring. So my failure in life is complete...A villain? You wretched whelp, you know nothing of me! “
My head hurts so badly, why must I bear the agony of such an existence? Talking to this little Alicorn, this thing that knows nothing of the pain I’ve been through. So, you say you want to know more about me, do you? Fine. I can’t do anything else it seems. I’ll play along, for now.
“No, I am no villain, child. I reached out time and again to your mother, the only one, whose magic could feed my starving brood. And yet, my pleas were met with deafening rejections. Meanwhile, my horde sought to eat. We grew ravenous, and so I deemed it necessary to take what was mine, what was ours. I had never wished to invade your wretched empire, but I was left with no choice.”
What do you mean Twilight said she tried to help? This child knows nothing of me, just what her ilk has fed her. Tried to help me, that’s a laugh.
“Twilight’s your aunt, is she? Well, your aunt never once reached a hoof out to me. That’s right, filly. Twilight Sparkle the great and benevolent Princess of Friendship, never once offered me such an option...Redeemed the Changelings? From what?... From themselves, how whimsical of them. I bet you think that the Changelings are in her debt now? A debt that never should have been. A Debt that your Alicorn brethren created!”
But it’s not entirely their fault, is it? No. As Queen, I was charged with protecting my brood; my children. And I failed. I couldn’t even feed them when they needed it most. I grew cold, hateful of outsiders, and my children paid the price. Perhaps it really is for the best, that they found a new way. Still…
“You should’ve let me die. A Queen who cannot protect her subjects is worthless. And I grow weary of this conversation. I will say nothing more. Get lost or when I get better I swear I'll strangle you.”
Hmph. You say you hope I recover even sooner now? I smell no hesitation in your words. What a weird pony you are, to care for a Changeling Queen with no fear. Perhaps you are different. Maybe I’ll talk to you tomorrow, whatever. I need some rest, I must be rid of this wretched headache!

Chapter 3- Cozy Glow: Why are you doing this?
“Nngh!”
My wings are so stiff, the pain in my body is unimaginable. Ignore it, for now. Pain doesn’t matter. I need to get my thoughts together. Remember what you were taught Cozy; first, identify your location. I see a stone floor, I see a wall made of Crystal and six guards in crystalline armor to either side of me. Okay, so I’m in the Crystal Empire, most likely the royal castle.
Good. Now, are there any familiar creatures about? I see Princess Lovebottom sitting there...on the ground? That’s odd, shouldn’t she be in her thro- who’s that? An Alicorn, but one I don’t recognize. Barely taller than me, though judging by the stern expression on Mrs. Lovey Dove's face, a creature to be wary of.
On the ground around me is a bunch of...concrete? Right, the prison, I remember Discord saying something about that before I lost consciousness. Something about spending eternity together. And yes, there’s Mr. Muscles and Mrs. Sourface, she seems about to pass out, and he really let his exercise go. I can barely flap my wings, and standing up is requiring an obscene amount of effort. My limbs are so sore and stiff. Focus, Cozy! How long were we inside there? And more importantly, why were we set free?
I guess the first step would be to talk to the one in charge, maybe with enough schmoozing, I can formulate a means of escape. My throat is barely responsive. Come on, girl, you can do this. Just like always.
“He...Hello there! Boy howdy, it was cramped in there. Were you the one that set us free from that horrible stone prison? That was awfully kind of …”
Alright, didn’t expect to feel spears at my throat. Something tells me I need to stop talking and listen. They aren’t playing games. I guess I’ll drop the act.
“Not buying it, huh?... I see, so you know of my gift of manipulation. Can’t blame a filly for trying. So, what do you want?... To redeem me?... How noble, for the mighty Alicorn Overlord to get some Filly Scout points helping the wayward Pegasus. So what, am I to owe you some favor for your generous kindness? What's the game here?... You say I’m acting a bit spoiled? A bit rude?... You want to know why I tried to destroy all magic in this world; why I hate Alicorns?”
Why I hate Alicorns...Straight to the point, isn’t she? I like that. Judging from that glare on Princess Love Bun’s face over there, I should probably answer this tiny nuisance. Alright then, you want to know why I wished to remove magic from this world? Why do I hate Alicorns so much? Fine. I’ll tell you why, you little wretch.
“I grew up in a world of doing what it takes, whatever it takes, to survive. I’ve lied, stolen, killed, and even worse, just to survive on the streets... My soul, my body. None of it mattered... Chains, beatings, none of it mattered... As long as I survived there was a chance for my reven- ... What? A tea party?”

This room is huge! And that bed is big enough to hold all four Princesses and then some. This chair is nice and comfortable. Wait...Hold on, why did I agree to come here? Why is she being so nice? What is she after? She dismissed her royal guard, but why? What does she want from me?
“Huh?... Yeah, it feels nice, and this tea is...Why are you asking me that? Why are you being so nice to me?... Am I worried? Yeah, a little, I guess...I shouldn’t be? But you dismissed the guards and…I...”
She’s got a point. If she really wished to hurt me, I doubt any guards would lift a hoof to intervene. I still don’t understand why she wanted a private tea party, though. Why is she so carefree about this? Look at her, no fear, no worries. Is her magic that powerful? Or is it something else?
“Alright, but then why?... You thought I would feel more comfortable talking this way, I...”
What do I say? Maybe she actually cares? I don’t know, nopony has ever thought to ask me about my life, much less listened when I talked. Could she be different?
“You want to know more about my past? I…”
Can I trust her?
Chapter 4- Tirek: I am no ally to ponies!
I can barely stand, what is this? Where is the grassland? This concrete at my hooves...The prison. Discord! I will smash him, I...This cannot be. My arms are limp, my muscles, gone. This is not how the son of King Vorak should be.
“I am Lord Tirek!”
Do you hear me, father? I am not weak! I am not...weak. If that is true, then why did Cadance, Princess of the Crystal Empire, not even flinch? Is it my feeble voice? This isn’t right! I am a Centaur of Noble birth! Yet she sits there, with that look in her eyes. Mocking me! That same pitying look Scorpan had! How dare she look down on me! I am Lord Tirek, Son of King Vorak, Pride of the Centaur Army! I am not weak!
“I will devour yo- what?”
Why is she pointing at that brat on the throne...She can’t be serious. Is that tiny little thing her successor?
“I am Lord Tirek! I have lain waste to thousands! I will not bandy words with such a weak individual...Stronger than you? That child?...Princess Flurry Heart? I could devour her magic in an instant!... You dare challenge me, so be it! Come here, brat!”
Ha! That was easy...Too easy. The guards haven’t moved a muscle and her own mother seems unconcerned. No matter, I’ll steal her magic and...Nothing’s happening. She is just smiling at me almost like she’s happy. What is this?
“Why can’t I steal your magic?... Not part of the Harmony? Hope?...Grrr. Well, your mother is under no such protection...Urghh!”
That hurt! I flew at least twenty hoof-lengths. How is this possible? She barely kicked me, how could the Princess of Love cause so much pain? I, Lord Tirek, brought to kneel before lowly ponies? How can this be?
“200 years since we last fought?... I see. You’ve made some magical advancements since then. Then why...Your daughter...A room for me?... So be it, Princess. I shall comply, for now.”

No doubt, I’ll be locked away in a cage again; like some common criminal. What is this? A feathered bed? A nightstand? Even a radio?... Is this some trick? Am I not a prisoner?
“...Is it to my liking? I...Not bad, though I wonder why...A guest? Do you think me so pathetic?... Yes, strength is important to me...You would set up a special area for me to train? For what purpose?...Because it makes me happy? I...What is this?... If I get hungry, just ring this bell?... You’ve instructed your staff to treat me like a royal guest?... Alright. Tomorrow we can talk. I grow weary, and I am quite tired. Good night, Princess.”
Does she think me a fool? A guest...Clearly an attempt to get me to lower my defenses. I am not so easily distracted, child. I’ll break free and slaughter you all, the second I get a chance. I am Lord Tirek! Not some weak-willed pony.
No doubt she has guards outside this wooden door. I shall expose this farce...There’s nopony here. No guards, nothing stopping me from leaving...A Maid! I’ll drain her of her magic and...Why aren’t I grabbing her?
“What?...towels? No, I have enough...Am I hungry? I suppose I could...Anything I desire?... The Princess said anything...I-
Grab her! Drain her magic, escape! What am I doing?
“I- One double-decker hayburger with the works and a bowl of strawberries...Thank-that’s all. Begone.”

These aren’t so bad and that burger really hit the spot. What’s wrong with me? Why couldn’t I do it? Why didn’t I drain that Earthpony?
This bed feels great, soft and warm, like that child's smile. That child, She didn’t leave any guards...Was that brat serious when she said I was a guest? What if she really isn’t trying to deceive me? I am Lord Tirek! I am no ally to ponies, but then...why couldn’t I do it?
“Urgh! I am Lord Tirek!”
I’m just tired. That’s all. I care not for these comforts provided by ponies. I’m just using them to recover. Nothing more. This pillow feels nice and cool. Maybe after a little rest, I can think more clearly about my escape. She mentioned a training area.
“I am...Lord...Tirek.”
What kind of training area does she have in mind, I wonder?

Chapter 5- Flurry Heart: Oh, What do I do now?
I don’t know what to do, I feel so lost. It’s been a week and they still haven’t opened up to me. Cozy Glow has refused to discuss her past, at first I thought our get-togethers were working but she says she just can’t. What am I doing wrong? Does she realize I’m not sure what I’m doing? Has she sensed my confusion? And what about Chrysalis? She’s up and moving, but she refuses to look me in the eyes while talking. Why? Does she still not trust my intentions? Tirek meanwhile refuses to stop working out, he won’t talk to me at all! I’m not sure what to do...I think I’ll go ask mom, she might have some clue.

“Mom! What should I do?... What would Dad say to do? I suppose he would tell me to keep trying...I know, but I...But, dad’s gone now!...No, you’re right, I’m sorry, I'm just so frustrated. I want them to be happy!... Okay, I understand. Thanks, mom!”

Hmm, these notes give me an idea. I got it. What if I took them on a trip? What if I show Tirek his homeland? And maybe I could show Chrysalis how her hive has progressed? What about Cozy Glow, though? Ugh...I just don’t know what to do.
“What should I do, diary?... I just have to keep hoping for the best, don’t I?”

What a disaster! He just stood there and stared at the ruins of his hometown. He didn’t say a word as I explained how he had to remember two hundred years had gone by and well, his people were invaded by stronger, and better-equipped civilizations. Is he mad? Is he sad? Does he hate me? I can’t tell! He just ignores my every word. Still, he hasn’t tried to attack me for three days since. I guess that’s progress?... Maybe?

That...Didn’t go well. Chrysalis didn’t speak at all to Queen Ocellus when I introduced them. She just stared at her for a moment before lowering her eyes. It was really awkward as Ocellus tried to greet her with a hug. After that, Chrysalis became non-responsive for about five minutes before asking to come back to the castle. When we got back, she locked herself in her room and I heard her crying through the door. She hates me now, doesn’t she?
“I really botched that, didn't I, diary?”

Today I took Cozy Glow to one of my favorite places in Equestria. I don’t know much about her past; since she keeps refusing my attempts to talk about it. So, I decided to show her the crystal mines of Ponyville; an abandoned mineshaft from Ponyville’s beginning.
It was unpleasant from the get-go. She cried as she ran a hoof over an area within. She said nothing to me, but I swear I heard her whisper to the area around us. I don’t know what she said though. I did my best to be outgoing and joke and laugh during our tour, but she didn’t smile so much as once. After that very silent tour, she asked me if we could go home, that she’d seen enough. Was it something I did?
“Oh diary, now what should I do?”

"Dad, if you can hear me, please tell me, what would you do? How can I reach them? Is there something I’m missing? Am I just not strong enough? Do I lack what it takes?"
It’s weird, talking to your old picture in this corridor, makes me feel like you’re still here to give me comfort sometimes. So tell me, what would you do, if you were in my horseshoes.
“You’re right! You wouldn’t give up and neither should I! I just need to keep doing my best and eventually, it will all work out.”
I need to get back to making plans for the coming week, but it was good seeing you again. This world can feel quite dreary without your guiding light sometimes. Anyway, thanks, Dad. I can’t give up now, there’s always tomorrow after all!

Chapter 6- Chrysalis: What am I feeling?
That annoying sound. It's so grating! It’s barely dawn, can’t a bug get her rest? I swear if she knocks one more time, I’ll...

Ugh, I hate her so much, every day she wants to spend time together. So annoying. Oh, who am I kidding? She’s not so bad. She’s been nothing but respectful to me. Try as I might, I can’t stay mad at her.
Now then, where are those earrings she gave me? Ah, there they are. A lady needs to look her best for our day out together. After a week in this castle, I could really use some sunshine. I wonder where we are going, anyway.

Back here again. The old hive looks amazing, it’s really been patched up, since that day I met Starlight Glimmer. According to the Princess, my son, Thorax had taken charge, leading the next generation. Though, that was centuries ago, I wonder what the new leader is like.
Hmm, every Changeling seems to be...enjoying their life. So then, who is this?

Ocellus, my granddaughter, Queen of the Changelings. This is my granddaughter? Is she really my son’s child? I...I’ve never felt like this. She’s very elegant and her mannerisms are nothing short of regal.
“...”
What is she doing? Why is she grabbing me?

A hug? She’s happy to meet me? Why? I don’t deserve such affection. Curse you, Thorax; you raised a proper hatchling. Who would have thought I would ever feel proud of my son. It’s a shame, I never had a chance to see him in action as a king. He left a legacy to be proud of. Everywhere I look, the smiles on their faces, the full, healthy colors of their chitin, this is all I ever wanted for them. Her subjects seem to be inspired by her. Happy, healthy, this is how the hive should be.
“...”
I don’t belong here. Not anymore. This is their home, their life. My granddaughter, please lead them well. I leave them to you, Ocellus. You're the Queen I never was. I won’t darken your doorway anymore.
“Princess Flurry Heart, can we go home? I’m done here.”

To see the Changelings flourishing like that, was wonderful. Maybe now, I can finally move forward. Hmm. I wonder what’s for dinner? Oh, I do hope Cadance is cooking up some more magic again. Her love tastes the best, after all. Mmm, just thinking about it, gets me excited. Now, what should I wear?
Chapter 7- Cozy Glow: What if I don't?
Carefully, carefully, focus Cozy, you can do this. Just follow the line. Just slow and stead-

Oh, boo. My crayon broke. Hm? Is that Flurry Heart? Why is she knocking at six in the bloody morning; she made me color outside the lines!

Just look at it, I spent all night on that picture for her, too. Now, I have to start all over again!

“I’m coming!... What do you want?...Why?...Somewhere special and some time together?...Ugh...No, everything’s fine. Don’t come in! Stay out of my room!... I’m Alright. No, I’m not mad...Fine. I’ll go. Just go away and give me a few moments to get ready.”

No. Not here. Why are we here? Did she find out? No, look at the smile on her face. She thinks this is an exciting wonder. There is no malicious intent. What would she say if she knew this is where I watched them die? That this is where my entire family was slaughtered by Canterlot’s Royal Guard?

We were homeless, but we had enough. Living in this old cave, I stole my first loaf of bread that day. Anything it took to survive. Anything. We would do it. Steal, Murder...even ‘favors” in the moonlight. Bandits. Thieves. We were many things, but we had each other.

“Mom died right here.”
I can still see that stain. She got sloppy, and Mom was tracked back to our home after ransacking a supply wagon on the road to Canterlot. She failed to cover her tracks and when I came home with my trophy to show her, her body lay right here, gutted, next to the bodies of two armor guards. My father's corpse lay over there, a spear in his eye socket. The rest must have gone down fighting, cleaved and ripped asunder, their broken weapons scattered about.
“...”
This tunnel is where that lecherous Captain, with his desire for fillies, hid; waiting to ambush little old me, with the rest of his corrupt guards. They surrounded me as the shock of what happened overcame me. They beat me into unconsciousness, and unfortunately for me, they had no interest in arresting or killing me.
“...”
Those sick freaks...day and night for a moon I was at their mercy. Their plaything. There’s the hole that once held the iron peg they used to bind my chains. Beaten, starving, and violated, endlessly. I never forgot those horrible sneering grins on their faces.
“...”
This crystal shines so brightly, she’s right to be excited. It reminds me of the one good moment during that month. There was one of the guards who refused to join the others. Though I never found out his name, he set me free and told me to run, that he would tell the Princess. And at first, I did try to run, but escape quickly flew out the window.
They surrounded us and...yes! There’s the cave-in. Right where we buried them, forever. Entombed for all eternity by the surrounding walls and rocks. We brought it crashing down on them all. It’s weird, I had forgotten all about the stallion...I had been so hellbent on revenge against Unicorns; against the royal family for the injustices I suffered, I never bothered to learn what happened to him.

The sunlight feels warm on my fur. Though...that cave is now empty, the remains are gone, and that horrible stain has been washed away with time. The world has changed since I was frozen in time. 200 years, nopony even remembers my name, what I did. Nopony remembers that wretched fool’s name. Maybe revenge at this point isn't even worth it. Maybe it’s time I let it go, too.
I could start over. Maybe I could go to school, maybe I could be somepony, maybe this is my chance for a clean slate. And maybe...I should take it.
“Can...Can we go home, Princess? I’m done here.”

I can't stop wondering though, who was my savior that night and what became of them. Maybe Flurry would be willing to set up a meeting with the current Captain of Canterlot’s Royal Guard. They would have access to the files...and the answers I seek, after all. I think I'll ask her later.

Chapter 8- Tirek: It isn't worth my time
I need to get stronger. You are weak.

This maid. Why does she insist on chatting all the time?

Why won’t I talk to you? Can’t you see I’m busy? I have to get stronger. You are weak, Tirek.
“Lord Tirek needs nopony.”

Princess Flurry Heart? A trip? Why would I-You are weak.

My homeland? Does that brat have connections to my father? You are too weak for this crown, Tirek.

Now? Ugh...Just leave me be, I have to get stronger. I don’t have time for the Princess’s games.You are weak.

"Fine, if it will shut you up, I’ll go with her.”

Ruins? Where are we? You are weak, Tirek. This cannot be. What happened here? You are no lord. This column...I recognize these markings. The archway to the temple? You are no son of mine! The sandstone of these hallowed halls, lies crumbling and shattered. It feels strange under my hooves. As though this is not the halls of my home. You are no son of mine, Tirek!

A war? Mere war wiped out my glorious people? It cannot be! You are no centaur. You are weak! My village lies in ruin, my people wiped out. What brought about such a thing? What happened here? Wait, what is she saying?
“...”
My father declared war on...the world? You are weak. Princess Twilight sent a peace envoy and he had them executed, and in-kind she retaliated. You are nothing. You are weak. You lie! My father would never...You are an embarrassment, you are weak.
“...”

Chapter 9- Flurry Heart: Am I getting through to them?
Dear Diary, am I doing this right? I don’t know what’s going on with them. A strange phenomenon seems to be occurring, but I’m not sure why. Months have gone by. From what I can tell, I’m not reaching them. I’ve been as kind and patient as possible, but I’ve seen no progress! I’ve already written Aunt Twilight about my worries and she says she couldn’t have done better. What is it I’m not seeing?
Mom says I’m doing fine and if I have such concerns that Grandmares Celestia and Luna would be the ones to ask. I’m not sure why but she insists that Luna and Celestia have some insider information about this kind of thing. I might have to wait a week though, as they no longer have the magic they once wielded, so they use normal Pegasus Post. I’ll write the letter tonight, we’ll see what they say.

It’s been one day since I wrote the letter to my Grandmares and something strange has happened. Cozy Glow came to my chambers last night. It started with her timidly knocking, very unlike her. She seemed agitated, frustrated and seemed to have been in tears just minutes earlier.
She told me. She told me everything. Her entire past and broke my heart. I know what she did was horrid, but I can’t help but feel for her. I couldn’t stop myself, I grabbed her up in my wings and gave her a fierce hug. She didn’t squirm, she didn’t complain. She just cried into my feathers for a good five minutes. Diary, I think she’s finally opening up to me.
After she calmed down, she asked me for a favor. To meet the current Captain of the Guard in Canterlot. I think if I ask Aunt Twilight she would gladly allow it; after all, it would help with Cozy’s recovery.
I’ve never had a foal of my own, but watching her childish antics makes me want one. I bought her some of the best art supplies I could. I can’t wait to see what she does with them. That picture she made sure looks beautiful in its new frame, hanging behind my throne. She is quite talented, for an 8-year-old filly.
Furthermore, she expressed an interest in attending school again. I’m fairly certain if I pull a few strings, I could get her enrolled once more. I’ll visit the register tomorrow. See what can be done.

Dear Diary, the meeting with Cozy Glow is all set up and ready to go. Aunt Twilight seemed overjoyed at the request. It has been three days since I wrote my Grandmares. Today Chrysalis approached me in the garden. And just stood there, staring at me. I asked her if she needed something, and she gave a rather abrupt request. A one-on-one meeting with Queen Ocellus. She didn’t say anything else, but I did notice her hum for half a second, with a happy melody.
I’m inclined to indulge her. Normally, I would be apprehensive, with the 'no guards and no guests' condition, but she never mentioned her anti-magic ring. In fact, she never complains about it. She seems content with using just her hooves and not her magic. I’ve even caught her smiling when she thought nopony was watching, as she secretly watered flowers in my garden using an Earthpony watering pail.
Could it be her magical ability that made her miserable? What a silly notion, of course, she had been happy using her magic. If that’s the case though, Diary, why does she seem almost proud to be wearing that ring?
Something tells me, Chrysalis isn’t looking to reclaim her throne and won’t be causing trouble. I’ll contact Queen Occellus tomorrow, I’m sure we can work something out. The fact Chrysalis even wishes to socialize at all after self-isolating for so long is a huge leap forward on her road to recovery.

Diary, I have dreadful news; I fear Tirek may be suffering from an unknown illness. He seems to be staring off into space during our meetings and insisting he isn’t hungry during dinner but has been ordering room service from Featherduster exclusively, late into the night, though he still eats almost nothing. And why has he suddenly stopped working out?
I had him see the nurse and she confirms he is a peak specimen of health, though mom told me he has the most destructive illness there is and that I should be happy for him. I’m confused. If he is suffering from such a disease why should I be glad about it? Has mom lost her mind?
Despite all this, he has made a rather cryptic request; a pilgrimage to find a sacred flower of his people. When asked about the flower, I didn’t recognize the name he gave. I asked Aunt Twilight and she has no clue, but mom seems to know all about it; yet refuses to explain. Apparently, Tirek wants mom and my maid, to go with him.
Featherduster was strangely overjoyed after hearing this, but she seems to be more and more fatigued each morning, with a possible fever from how sweaty she is after her breaks. I'm worried for her. I guess she really needs this flower's magic, whatever it is, too. I’m not sure what to do. Should I allow them to go?
The area where this strange flower grows is forbidden; the monsters there are considered devastatingly powerful even for an Alicorn to face, so the area was just declared off-limits for not only the public but all Princesses as well. Still, mom says it’s very important this trip be allowed. I suppose I’ll have to trust my mother’s wisdom.
I’ll permit this trip, against my better judgment, if it helps him and Featherduster recover from this strange illness of theirs. Mom says it isn’t contagious and she’ll be fine. I hope she knows what she’s doing.

For this crime, I was entombed for 200 years within a statue within the Royal Square, along with my co-conspirators.”
