It is now time for everypony, including me, to prepare herself/himself for our wedding. The legal technicalities thereof are our last obstacle. Author's Note This story picks up where Destination: Citizenship! left off. It is the final installment in this trilogy of stories about Fluttershy and Lonesome Knight. //-------------------------------------------------------// 2. A Call To Action //-------------------------------------------------------// 2. A Call To Action “Oh, thank goodness!” sighed Fluttershy. “I’m glad to know that all these animals are OK,” she thought. “I never knew that you had so many animals, Fluttershy,” I remarked. “It’s true,” she answered. “Aren’t they adorable?” she asked me. “Not as adorable as you are,” I answered. Fluttershy could only blush upon hearing my compliment. “Say,” I asked her, “do you have a telephone that I could use?” “Yes,” she answered, “but its noisy ringing scares me.” “I’d like to call somepony over,” I explained. “Maybe she can help you,” I suggested. Fluttershy gave me instructions on where to find her phone. “Please put it away after you use it,” she asked of me, very politely. “I don’t want to be anywhere near it,” she explained. “I will—I promise,” I told her, and trotted back inside to use her phone. “He is so kind,” she thought. Author's Note Guess whom Lonesome Knight will call! //-------------------------------------------------------// 3. Practice Makes Perfect! //-------------------------------------------------------// 3. Practice Makes Perfect! Twilight Sparkle, whom I met at the Golden Oak Library, had come over as soon as she could! “Twilight,” I told her, “this is Fluttershy—my very special somepony.” “Hello, Fluttershy,” she told Fluttershy. “I’m Twilight Sparkle.” Fluttershy was too shy to answer. “Are you OK, Fluttershy?” I asked her. “No,” she answered softly. “I’m—erm—afraid.” “Fluttershy is afraid of being at a wedding,” I explained to Twilight. “She never went to a wedding before,” I added. “You don’t say!” gasped Twilight, surprised by what I just told her. “I know all about weddings!” she revealed to me. “All right—here’s the plan,” Twilight Sparkle told me. “To help Fluttershy overcome her fear,” she explained, “we’re going to rehearse by having a mock wedding.” “It’s not a real wedding,” she continued. “It’s only for practice.” “Are you OK with this plan?” I asked Fluttershy. “Oh, yes,” she answered, very grateful that Twilight was willing to help her. “We’re ready!” I told Twilight. “Let the mock wedding begin!” Author's Note I use the phrase mock wedding by analogy with mock trial for lack of a better phrase. In the next chapter, I will present you the mock wedding between Fluttershy and Lonesome Knight! //-------------------------------------------------------// 4. A Bridle Fantasy //-------------------------------------------------------// Author's Note The title of this chapter is inspired in part by the title of episode 109 of Friendship Is Magic—Bridle Gossip. The word bridle in the chapter title is a pun on the word bridal. SPOILER WARNING! Zecora will appear in this story as well. 4. A Bridle Fantasy “Fillies and gentlecolts, mares and stallions, and animals of all species,” began Twilight Sparkle, “we are gathered here today to celebrate the legal union of Fluttershy and Lonesome Knight.” All the while, Fluttershy kept her eyes on me, and I kept mine on her. Twilight asked Fluttershy, “Do you take this stallion to be your lawfully-wedded husband?” Fluttershy, in a clear and loud voice, answered, “I do!” “Amazing!” I thought upon hearing her answer. “Good for you, Fluttershy!” cheered Twilight. “I knew you could do it!” “Now, Lonesome Knight,” she continued, now addressing me, “do you take this mare to be your lawfully-wedded wife?” “Yes—I do,” I answered—boldly and confidently. After Fluttershy and I recited all our vows, Twilight Sparkle announced, “I now hereby pronounce you stallion and mare.” Fluttershy beamed with pride as she and I hugged each other. //-------------------------------------------------------// 6. The Day Is Ours! //-------------------------------------------------------// 6. The Day Is Ours! Today was the big day—the day for which the both of us had been waiting ever since we met for the first time. It was our wedding day! Fluttershy had already chosen her best mare, and I had selected my stallion of honor. Both of those ponies were listening in on us, ready to write down our every word. Zecora, the officiant at our wedding, gave the introduction: Pony folks, we’re here to celebrate An ancient ritual to banish hate. Marriage, as by ponies it is known, Shall forge a union far stronger than bone. Next, she gave each of us a wedding ring to wear on the left front hoof. With these rings shall one wed the other, And like a sister and a brother, A family shall they begin; Affinity comes from within. To every vow I read to you, Should you agree, please say, “I do.” We agreed to all the marriage vows, which Zecora read from the script prepared for her. Finally, she read the last line on the script: Stallion and mare I pronounce you, and this Ends the ritual, so now, you may kiss. We kissed each other on both sides of the muzzle—once per side. We had become a lawfully-wedded couple. //-------------------------------------------------------// 1. Too Shy To Speak Up? //-------------------------------------------------------// Author's Note It is I who helped Fluttershy come out of her figurative shell back in My Journey In Equestria. Now, it is time for me to help her stay out of her shell. 1. Too Shy To Speak Up? Now that I, with help from Twilight Sparkle, had succeeded in getting Fluttershy’s name and mine on the same property deed in Ponyville’s household registry, it was time for the both of us to get ready for our wedding. Because a wedding was a public event, it made complete and total sense to me that Fluttershy would be afraid of speaking to a large audience. “Can we just—erm—skip the ceremony?” she whispered to me. “I’m afraid,” she explained. “What makes you afraid of a ceremony?” I inquired of her. “I promise never to tell anypony else,” I affirmed. “It’s just—erm—I don’t know—erm—maybe…” she started, only to whimper softly in fright. “Are you afraid that somepony will harm your animal friends while you’re at the wedding?” I suggested. “No,” she answered, still whispering. “If it makes you feel better, I can contact Dr. Fauna,” I offered. “Oh, thank you, Lonesome,” she told me, now less afraid, and hugged me. “Do you know what to say at a wedding?” I asked her. “No!” she cried, now startled! “Did you ever attend a wedding?” I asked her. “Oh, no!” she confessed, now panicking! “This is going to be hard,” I thought. “Would it help you if we went outside together?” I suggested. “As long as we stay near my house,” she answered. Fluttershy and I trotted outside together. It pleased Fluttershy greatly to be able to see some animals that lived outdoors. //-------------------------------------------------------// 5. Where And When? //-------------------------------------------------------// 5. Where And When? Because Fluttershy did not care one little bit about family law or its many technicalities and intricacies, there were only three questions left on her mind: Where should the wedding take place, on what date, and at what time? Concerned about the welfare of her animal friends, she asked Twilight Sparkle, “Would it be OK if we had our wedding in private?” “What do you mean, Fluttershy?” asked Twilight. “I want all my animals to be witnesses to our wedding,” explained Fluttershy. “I don’t think that that would be legal,” objected Twilight. “Oh, but my animals would be so sad if I left them all behind—especially Angel!” countered Fluttershy, pleading for Twilight to reconsider her advice. “Does Dr. Fauna make house calls?” I chimed in, addressing Twilight. “Actually,” she answered, “she does!” “All your non-pony friends will be in good hooves during your wedding,” she told Fluttershy. “You must not worry about them.” “But I still wish that my animals could know that I had the wedding,” sighed Fluttershy, still a little sad. “A wedding is a legal procedure, Fluttershy,” explained Twilight. “There are tons of documents involved!” “Besides,” she continued, “you did very well rehearsing your lines and vows!” “I’ll ask the mayor about sending you a photostatic copy of the marriage license,” I offered. “Then,” I continued, “you can have all your furry and feathered friends sign it in their own ways!” “You’re the kindest pony I ever met!” cried Fluttershy, giving me another hug. Now, at last, she and I were ready to go to the Ponyville Town Hall to schedule our wedding. //-------------------------------------------------------// Epilogue //-------------------------------------------------------// Epilogue “Citizens of Ponyville,” announced Mayor Mare, “the wedding of Fluttershy and Lonesome Knight has been a most memorable one.” “It will be an event of the highest historical significance,” she continued, “for it is the first wedding ever to occur in Ponyville without involving any royalty!” The audience went wild and gave a thundering round of applause. Now that our wedding had come to fruition, Fluttershy and I decided to go home and spend our new lives as a married couple in the enormous cottage with all those animals in it. Meanwhile, all the acquaintances that I had made had gathered at Sugarcube Corner for a lively party hosted by Pinkie Pie! The apples that Applejack had brought there had gone into making luscious apple pie—enough for everypony! Rainbow Dash and Rarity had collaborated on some custom-made uniforms—modeled after those of the Pony Rangers! As for Twilight Sparkle, she needed to leave the party early to pick up a photocopy of our marriage license. Every animal friend of Fluttershy signed the marriage license photocopy with its own unique signature. Now, we could both live happily ever after! Author's Note This concludes my first trilogy of stories for FIMFiction. I dub it the FlutterKnight Trilogy (etymology: Flutter(shy) + (Lonesome) Knight). Remember to return every day if any of you are looking for more stories by me. Thank you kindly, everyone!
