Chapters Prologue
You know, I look back now at my at my entire life, my real life in Equestria, back before I was on the ground, bleeding and dying, for a pony that I love, I realize that I regret absolutely nothing, from the first night, when I ran, that fateful night when I came here. In the end, looking into the eyes of my attacker, I feel no regrets, just happiness, to know that I died for the one I love...
"Daniel, what is the meaning of life?" A voice, neither male nor female called out to the thirteen year old boy.
"I- I don't know." Daniel began falling, into a void of darkness. It was odd, for while he was in it he did not feel anything, not physically nor mentally. His thoughts began to fade until suddenly, all around him it turned brighter, and he found himself on a beach. "But we could always find out." He found himself saying.
"Do you wish for another chance?" The voice said, the beach quickly fading away.
"Yes, yes I do." Daniel said, tears welling up in his eyes.
"Where are you?" The voice spoke.
"I, don't know." Daniel replied.
"Are you lost?" The voice called, seeming to grow more distant.
"I, yes!" Daniel yelled.
"Then you will be found..."
Daniel's eyes shot open, and he looked around. He was in the library, a book open on the table in front of him. He got up, and walked out the door. He looked up at the sky, and saw that it was night. Shoving his hands in his pockets he started walking back behind the old building, when somebody came running up to him and shoved a gun, pulling the trigger on himself. Daniel's eyes went wide as the man screamed in pain, and went down, and two police officers came running, and saw Daniel. "Hey you kid!" One yelled.
"What? Wait no! I didn't? What's going on?" Daniel looked around himself frantically. Finally deciding that it would be best to run, he dropped the gun and sprinted out of the alleyway. Looking behind himself he saw the two cops on his tail.
"Stop! In the name of the law!" The second cop yelled in a cliche way.
"That's happening." Daniel muttered sarcastically. Daniel weaved through the crowd, expertly dodging and evading people, quickly leaving the cops in the dust, turning quickly into another alley he looked around for a ladder. Seeing one at the end of the alley, he ran towards it, and started climbing, and when he reached the top, he looked over the ledge to see the two cops running by and out the opposite end. sighing, he slid back down the ladder, and walked out the alley. He stopped in front of the electronic store, and looking at the screens on the televisions, he saw his own confused and shocked face looking back.
"Police are now on the look out for this suspect, if you see him, please turn him in to the authorities." A female announcer said.
'How the heck did they get my picture so quickly?' Daniel thought frantically. He ran towards the nearby bridge that led out of the small urban area, and into the surrounding farmlands, and kept on running.
Stopping near a tree with plenty of low branches, he climbed up, and rested on a good sized branch. Thinking over the crazy day, he wondered what had happened. One moment he was walking, and the next he was running from the police, all because some guy shoved a gun in his hands. Feeling exhausted, he finally let sleep take him.
"Do you need a second chance?" The voice returned.
"Yes." Daniel said, feeling himself fading
"Then you shall receive it..." Daniel felt nothing. Absolutely nothing. not emotionally or physically. then suddenly a breath of life was given to him and he breathed it in through his nose. It smelt like apples. Opening his eyes, he was staring into two golden eyes. Eyes that weren't exactly aligned correctly...
Chapter One
Daniel opened his ice blue eyes, and found himself staring into a pair of unaligned golden eyes. "Whoa!" Daniel yelled, and scrambled back, his back pressing up against a wall. Standing, in front of him was something he did not believe he was seeing. A grey pegasus with a blonde mane, was standing there, on its flank, were several bubbles. "A, pegasus?" Daniel said, slightly shocked. "Okay, just roll with it, with everything that's happened, it's not the weirdest thing that's happened so far. Okay, you lived on a farm before the fire, maybe it's friendly." Daniel slowly calmed down. The pegasus raised an eyebrow at Daniel. Daniel looked around, and saw a pile of apples sitting near him.
'Maybe it wants an apple?' Daniel thought. Picking an apple up, he held it out. "Here you go, I don't mean any harm, go on, it's okay." Daniel put a gentle smile on, slowly and calmly crawling over to the pony.
"Uh, no thanks, I already had breakfast. You go ahead." The pegasus said. Daniel's eyes went wide, and he hit his head from jumping up.
"Did- did you just say something?" Daniel said, rubbing his black haired head. He calmed down again. 'It's okay, you're obviously not anywhere near the place you fell asleep at.' Daniel thought to himself.
"Uh yeah, gosh mister you're weird." The pegasus eyes... eye? focused on Daniel.
"Okay, uh, Pegasus, do you have any idea where I am?" Daniel asked, finally deciding that he wouldn't be surprised by the creature anymore.
"My name is Ditzy Doo." Ditzy said.
"And you are the Cutie Mark Crusaders' Clubhouse, we got Ditzy to come and make sure you were safe." A little purple maned filly stepped through the door, this one had a horn on it's head.
"Whoa, you're a unicorn!" Daniel said, his eyes widening again.
"Yeah, my name is Sweetie Bell, who are you?" Sweetie asked, curiosity filling her eyes. two more fillies walked in, an orange pegasus, and a yellow pony, without wings or a horn.
"Uh, my name is Daniel." The boy spoke.
"Hi Daniel, I'm Scootaloo!" The orange pegasus spoke up, wiping her messy purple mane off to one side of her face.
"And Ah'm Applebloom!" The yellow pony spoke up. Daniel observed that she wore a red bow, that was quite large for her head.
"Uh hi, okay, a few questions, one, I see two pegasuses, one unicorn, and a fourth pony without either, what is the fourth pony called?" Daniel asked, finally getting over his initial shock.
"First it's pronounced pegasi, and second, they are known as earth ponies." Ditzy said. Daniel nodded, and spoke again.
"Okay, two, and I mean no offense, but, what is wrong with your eyes Ms. Doo?" Daniel asked. Ditzy looked at the ground, and kicked a hoof.
"Um, I'd rather not go into that subject." She said glumly. Scootaloo glared at Daniel.
"Okay, well alright then, and finally are all the err, people here ponies?" Daniel asked.
"Well, there are a couple of griffins and there is Spike, he's a baby dragon." Ditzy said, her smile renewed. "I could show you around if you want." Ditzy offered happily.
"Uh, sure, thanks Ms. Doo." Daniel said, getting off the ground. Realizing that he still had to crouch to have room to move, he started towards the pinkish red door of the tree house.
"You can just call me Ditzy." She said, giving a small smile.
"Alright, then let's get going Ditzy." Daniel said with a smile, stepping out onto the landing outside the clubhouse, and climbing down. Ditzy followed soon after.
"Okay, now I have few questions for you." Ditzy said, the moment they were out of view of the three fillies. She pushed him against a nearby apple tree. "One, who sent you, your kind is not welcome here on Equestria." Ditzy said with enough venom in her voice to make a snake drop dead.
"W-what? I don't know what you're talking about." Daniel said looking around frantically.
"Right, you were sent here by them weren't you?!" Ditzy spat out, even more malice in her voice.
"Who? All I remember is falling asleep in a tree, then some dream saying I'm getting a second chance! I swear!" Daniel looked around, searching for anypony to help him, but seeing nopony he resorted to trying to calm down, knowing he was fairly good at it. "Look, I am no threat, I promise, I have no idea what you are talking about." Daniel said calmly.
"Uh-huh, well, I got my eye on you." Ditzy said, slowly getting off of Daniel. Daniel would have laughed, if he thought it wouldn't have gotten him killed. "Now, how about that tour of Ponyville I promised? We have a lot things to get done, plenty of ponies for you to meet, and quite a few places to show you, not to mention getting you someplace to live right?" Ditzy said, earlier friendliness back.
"I can find a place to live on my own, thank you." Daniel said. 'There is no way this crazy girl- mare? Is going to make me live in a house. Never again.' Daniel thought.
"Well, if I have to keep an eye on you, I have to know where you are staying at don't I?" Ditzy said with a giggle.
"Look, I would rather sleep in some grass, or maybe a nice soft flowerbed, I can't stand beds, they- uh" Daniel stopped himself.
"They what?" Ditzy said with concern.
"Look, they just don't suit me, okay, I'd rather sleep outside."
"Well, uh, okay I guess, well, on with the tour, I guess." Ditzy said a bit of confusion on her face.
"Well, alright, let's get started.
Chapter Two- The Cake was Telling the TRUTH
Chapter Two
"Hey Applejack!" The grey pegasus called out to the orange mare, who was busy kicking trees.
"Oh, hey Ditzy, mah sister says you found out what was sleeping in her clubhouse. What was it anyways?" The blonde maned earth pony asked.
"Oh, it was a human, and his name is Daniel, completely harmless." Ditzy said with a smile, as Daniel came out from behind a tree.
"Hi." Daniel said.
"Well howdy, any friend of Ditzy is a friend o' mine" Applejack stuck her hoof out. "Ah'm Applejack."
"Danie-ie-ie-ie-iel-l-l-l-l" Daniel said while the mare vigorously shook his hand. Applejack let go of the hand, and Daniel held his hand down to keep it from shaking anymore.
"Well, Daniel, you hungry?" Before Daniel could speak up Ditzy cut in.
"No, sorry AJ, we are on a schedule here, so we have to get going!" Ditzy said, quickly shoving Daniel out through the gates.
"Hey! Wait, I am kind of hungry Ditzy." Daniel said, looking over his shoulder at the orange mare in the stetson.
"No, you cannot eat yet, I have to make sure of something." Ditzy said, malice creeping into her voice just a touch, but still sounded sweet at the same time.
"Ditzy, what's going on? I'm hungry, and you can't make me leave, so unless you tell me what the heck is going on here, I'm going back to that orange pony and eating some breakfast!" Daniel said, finality in his voice.
"I- well- it's-" she stuttered. Finally she sighed, "look, you can't. Okay? If you eat something here, you'll stay here. I can't let you eat something cooked by ponies." Ditzy said, anger rising in her voice.
"Really? That's what you're worried about? I don't care, back where I come from I was a nobody that lived in the streets, at least here everybody seems friendly towards me, save for you of course. It's like you hate me for some reason."
"Look, I don't hate you, but if my boss finds you here, we will both be in a lot of trouble, I can not stress how important it is for you to leave this place." Ditzy looked up at Daniel with both of her eyes for a few seconds before one twitched to the side, but Daniel had yet to know how much more serious that just made this situation.
"Look, I don't know what you're even talking about, and I don't care, besides, while we were walking up to Applejack, didn't you say you were a mail-ma, err mail- pony? What does a post office have anything to do with me? Your boss can dislike me all he wants, I won't bother him, and he doesn't have to bother me. Now, if you'll excuse me Ditzy, I have some food to eat." Daniel began walking away, but Ditzy followed closely behind.
"Hey Daniel, y'all are back soon, what about that busy schedule of yours?" Applejack was right where they had left her.
"He does have a busy schedule, he can't eat anything right now." Ditzy said frantically.
"Eh, don't listen to her, I'm starving!" Daniel said.
"Well alright! How about some apple pie?" Applejack said.
"Daniel, I am personally begging you, do not eat anything she gives you." Ditzy whispered in Daniel's ears.
"I'm hungry, and I don't mind if I stay in this odd place till I die, so let me eat." Daniel whispered harshly.
"Well here ya go, the finest apple pie in all of Ponyville!" Applejack said proudly. Daniel looked around for a fork, but didn't see any.
"Uh, do you mayhaps have any silverware?" Daniel asked quietly.
"Nope I guess she doesn't, guess we have to go." Ditzy said, a triumphant look in her eye. Which deflated when Applejack let a fork scatter across the table. "Daniel, trust me, if you eat this pie, I won't be able to help you." Ditzy whispered into his ear. Ignoring her, Daniel took a bite out of the pie and brought it to his mouth, pulled it off with his teeth, and began to chew.
"Whoa, this is the best apple pie I have ever tasted in my life!" Daniel yelled excitedly, putting his fork in for another bite, when three flashes surrounded the table.
"Daniel! I warned you, you idiot, why didn't you listen!" Ditzy yelled, shrinking away. "Now, they are here."
"Daniel Sallite, you know not of what you have just done. You must come with us." A male voice aggressively spat out.
"Daniel, it is time for you to learn the truth about yourself, in one hour, you will be sent to us, with you, will be your representative. We wish you the best of luck." A second, more motherly female voice said.
"Indeed, thou hast begun something that cannot be stopped by anypony, or any human, other than you yourself." A third, calm and collected voice said.
"Wait! No, he's just a kid! He can't do this, please!" Ditzy yelled. But the three lights were already gone. "Daniel! You idiot! You bucking, little, no good, imbecile! Why!" Ditzy was on top of Daniel now, crying, and both eyes focused on his own.
"Uh, Ditzy, could ya explain what just happened?" Applejack asked, getting off the ground.
"No, I have to get him ready." And with that Ditzy shoved Daniel on her back. "Daniel, you have no idea what you just did."
"Wait! All I did was eat some pie!" Daniel cried out frantically.
"I know." Ditzy said gravely.
