Mean Girls' Night Out

Chapter 3 - One last stop... or two

Previous Chapter

Back outside, the rich pair led the way down a street also used by a number of tired working ponies and a few late night strollers enjoying the cool breeze and the star-filled sky.

On their way to the next stop, they arrived to a brightly-lit square with various street performers on their job, they noticed a pair of jugglers surrounded by a multitude of foals and their parents and a living pony statue, painted in shiny crystal blue, who had just as much attention around him.

The trio decided to stop and watch these artists when a young pegasus mare walked over to them, carrying a complex-looking camera with a little slot at the bottom and a tripod. Her mane and tail were long, slightly wavy and a bright shade of cyan, looked really well-kept; her white coat also seemed to glisten under the moonlight. On her flank was a cutie mark that looked like a camera flash.

"Greetings, young ones! Hope you're enjoying tonight's show!" the energetic-looking pegasus cheered. "Want to have your picture taken under this beautiful night, only two bits a copy?"

The fillies looked at eachother and nodded.

"We'll take three!" Tiara declared with a wide smile as both her friends agreed.

As they got into position, with Babs between Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon, the photographer set everything up for the picture and pressed a couple of switches on her camera.

"Alrighty, get ready!" the photographist called with enthusiasm.

Getting closer to eachother, the trio gave the camera the best of their smiles... until the very last moment, when both ponies between Babs made silly faces; Tiara crossing her eyes with a silly grin, and Spoon with her most serious expression while sticking out her tongue nonchalantly.

The pair began snickering as the pictures came out. The short-maned filly looked at them and tilted her head, which only made them grin at her.

Hovering in front of the camera, the pegasus peeked at the photos and giggled while she gave them to the little trio.

Curious, Babs looked at the snapshot and realized her friends' little joke. She then leered at them for a few seconds before breaking into laughter, which was shortly joined by the pranksters' own chortling.

As the laughter died down, each filly reached for their own bit purse and paid the mare, who tossed the coins into a bag she was carrying under her right wing.

"Thank you... and see ya around!" The white-coated pegasus waved the trio goodbye and resumed her happy trotting, looking for more customers.

After putting the pictures in their saddlebags, the fillies walked out of the square and down a brightly-lit avenue towards the last stop of the night: a clothing store which windows showcased a large variety of filly-sized dresses and a few costumes.

As soon as the trio stepped into the store, they were greeted by a light green-coated earth pony mare with a chocolate brown mane which looked remarkably poofy. Her mint-colored dress conceived part of her tail and her cutie mark.

"Welcome!" the mare chirped, trotting towards her customers. "Glad to see you this week as well, misses!"

"Hello!" all three fillies greeted in unison, almost in a sing-song tone.

"Come here if you need anything, as usual..." the mint-coated pony reminded. "That goes for the cute filly with the red mane, too!"

Babs giggled at the remark as she followed her friends towards a section full with skirts and dresses of all colors and a wide variety of adorable-looking shirts, all neatly set along rows of hangers, with a few more mannequins displaying select outfits. A sign on an empty wall showed the way to the fitting rooms through a little corridor.

The young ponies exchanged looks and gleefully smiled at each other before checking out all the clothes. Picking a few garments, each filly made their way to the fitting rooms.

Some try-ons later, the Manehattan filly walked out of the fitting room, wearing a short-sleeved white shirt and a red skirt with a plaid pattern. She was soon joined by Diamond Tiara, showing off a bright yellow summer jacket with a jet black top underneath and a light grey skirt.

Both fillies took a gander at eachother's attire, and Tiara gave her friend a nod of approval.

"Hey, Babs, you do have some good taste..." she observed before striking a pose, still flaunting her outfit. "...but you gotta admit I'm looking way better, here!"

The red-maned pony moved closer to her companion and stared at her. "Hm... I'll admit yer right this time." she replied before booping the snooty filly's nose. "Really likin' that jacket, looks great on ya!"

As the pair were talking about the other garments they tried on but discarded, Silver Spoon left her fitting room, she was in a sleeveless dress of a fresh cyan which matched her glasses, with a wide black band around the middle.

"Girls, look!" the grey filly called. "This dress looks lovely, doesn't it?"

Her friends stared at her in wonder for almost a full minute, then turned to look at each other as Silver just tilted her head.

"Looks like Spoony here is tryin' to out-cute ya, Di... and succeeding." Babs sneered, earning the pink-coated filly's second pout of the night, shorter than the previous one.

"Yep. You know what?" Diamond Tiara sighed in defeat. "That looks beautiful on you, Silver. I mean it!"

"I'm with her, I'd so buy it if I were ya." the short-maned youngster remarked.

"Thank you, girls! Both of you look super cute too!" Silver Spoon squealed in delight, trotting in place. "I'm keeping this one for sure, how about you?"

Tiara and Babs nodded, then all three got back to their fitting rooms. Shortly after, they returned to the corridor and made their way towards the counter, carrying the clothing they chose.

The cashier was waiting behind it, she smiled at her little customers as they carefully placed every garment on the counter before the older pony proceeded to take a short look at them and check all the price tags.

"Will that be all, misses?" the mare asked as she began to fold and put each filly's garments into three cute little bags, all of them a bright purple with handles of a slightly darker shade.

The trio nodded and made their purchase. After waving the cashier goodbye while holding the bag handles with their teeth, they left the store.

As all three youngsters were walking their way towards Sweet Apple Acres, Diamond Tiara stopped suddenly and dropped the bag, giving the Manehattan pony a wide smile as an idea crossed her mind.

"Hey, the night doesn't really have to end here!" she exclaimed. "Want to join us at my place for a slumber party, Babs?"

Silver Spoon looked at the short-maned pony with her best puppy eyes, who quickly placed her bag on the ground and grinned back at her friend.

"Of course I do, gals!" she gleefully answered. "C'mon, let's go!"

With that, Tiara and Babs picked up her bags as the three of them began to skip their way towards the richer filly's place, more than ready for the most enjoyable of sleepovers.

Author's Note

You have reached the end of the story, thank you for reading!

What can I say about this fic... it took me a couple of weeks, there have been a few little rewrites at certain parts and, most importantly, I had a lot of fun writing about three of my favorite fillies fooling around.

Here's hoping it brought some joy to you, as well!
