There was nothing in life for Nick anymore. He felt as if everything good had been sucked up in a vacuum cleaner and sent into deep space. Ever since he was little he thought he was different. Growing up, boys his age would be out playing football or doing masculine activities. Girls played with dolls and feminine things. He did prefer feminine things but his passion was knowledge. To him to know everything about anything was the greatest achievement would could make in ones life. As other little kids played outside he would stay inside reading from great literary works like Shakespeare or Homer's Iliad. He was only fourteen but he was taking 11th grade classes. He received many offers for scholarships from Harvard or Yale. Yet with all his knowledge his life felt empty, damp and bleak. His parents were the scum of the Earth. He practically raised himself. The only person who cared for him or helped him was his big sister. Nick laid on his bed in his room. He looked out the window to see the cityscape of Chicago. He thought in his mind why,why don't his parents care? He walked into his sisters room and sat on her couch. She was sitting there just watching T.V. Nick looked at his sister and asked "What are you watching Becky?" Becki sat there with a smile on her face. "Oh its just a new show on T.V. I swear I thought I had outgrown things like ponies but this show is kind of fun." Nick stared at the TV and watched the colorful ponies on screen. The clear crisp audio and happy songs glanced through his ear. He was overwhelmed with a feeling of happiness. Happiness. Something he had not felt in a long time. "Becki would it be weird if I liked this show? I mean it looks nice I just don't want to upset mom or dad."
"Of course it's fine to like it." Said Becki. "Theres nothing wrong with it. I know plenty of guys that watch it. I think they are called bronies or something." Nick just continued to watch the show. The show eventually ended and Nick was amazed. He had never felt so much happiness just because of a TV show. "Well what did you think?" Becki asked. "I loved it. You know it may sound a little weird but I've always liked girl stuff more. It just seems to fit me. I always felt like a girl deep down." Without realizing it Nick realized what he said. He slammed his palm on his mouth as if he had said the dirtiest curse word ever. Nick covered his face in fear of the backlash he might receive. Becki chuckled. She didn't seem shocked or appalled. She just laughed. "Its alright Nick. I think its time I told you something. You see there are people out in the world that don't feel like they are really boys or girls." Becki went on to describe transexuality to Nick and he felt as if his whole mind was opened. It made so much sense. As much as he knew about he arts, literature and other knowledge he had never known anything like this to exist. After all it was what he was on the inside. "The best part though,is that if you feel female on the inside it means you already are one! It just means your body doesn't match your mind." Nick thanked his sister for explaining things to him. "Now Nick you need to go have some lunch. It maybe saturday but you can't skip out on eating!" Nick and his sister then rushed to the kitchen.
Nick's father was busy being his fat self sitting in an old greasy chair. A look of disgust on his face as the Chicago Bears lost another game. "MOTHER FUCKING COWBOYS!!!!" Screamed John. He began to hit at the TV and sat back down in his chair. Filling his face with cheetos. To the other side of the apartment Jessica was talking on the phone for her job. "Look Jerry I told you management wouldn't like that. The delivery of the paper shipment needs to be done by monday!" Becki nudged her mother and asked, "Mom can you make us some lunch?" Becky's mother look down and Becki and said, "Sorry Sweetheart mommy is on the phone." Becki rolled her eyes. "Guess we're making lunch by yourselves 7th time in a row. Nick and Becky made themselves PB and J sandwiches. They ate away sitting at the table. Nick went through the mail. "Scholarship offer,Scholarship offer,Scholarship offer,Scholarship offer,Bills,Bills and a Vote for Romney ad. Nothing good here." Nick sighed.
Days passed and eventually things got worse and worse. John caught Nick and Becky watching MLP and he smashed their T.V. with his bare hands and had to go to the ER. His mom caught Becki putting lipstick on Nick and she beat Becki mercilessly. The parents more more conservative than Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin combined. Nick still got good grades but his parents didn't care. They never did,and never will. It was Friday night and he sat at the dinner table with his family. This was a rare occasion seeing as mom was out at work or dad would be at the bar with his buddies watching the game. Nick twirled his fork and ate his pasta. His dad looked at him with a straight and ugly face. He slammed his fist into the table then proceeded to throw his hands up in the air. "Nick I got to ask about what you and Becky have been doing lately. Are you some sort of Faggot or Drag Queen? I mean come on fucking ponies and lipstick? What the fuck?" Nick sighed. "Dad first of all its just a T.V. show. Second of all I've felt like a girl my entire life . . ." John threw a knife at Nick. It just barely missed him. It flew right into an old family portrait. The picture tore and the glass shattered. "So my sons a mother fucking Faggot huh? Get the fuck OUT of my house!" John pushed Nick down the stairs. Becki pleaded and cried to no avail.
They finally reached the doorstep of the apartment. He threw Nick out onto the sidewalk. He landed hard against the cold bumpy pavement. Nick's face scratched against the sidewalk with full force. Most of the muscles on his face were torn right off. His face had a dirty red look. He was covered in blood, grime and dust from the street. As he cried his tears burned the soft bleeding flesh on his face. "No family member of mine is EVER going to be some pussy fucking faggot!" Nick's father slammed the door with such force that the knob on the door was most broken. Nick looked inside to see his parents fighting. Just as he stood there the family's Television set was thrown from the window. Glass and TV parts were everywhere. Nick ran down the sidewalk, tears ablaze. Nick didn't even realize on his left leg some bone was revealed. He was just barely able to run. He eventually reached the far outskirts of Chicago. He wandered out in the farm fields. He saw farmers planting corn as usual in this time of year, barely taking notice to him. Nick retreated into a field. Thunder began to crackle and rain poured down. The fierce storm pummeled the Chicago area. The disgruntled and wounded teen looked for shelter in the field. He came to a small rock wall by a tree. Nick sat under the tree and cried. He cried and just let it all out. He sighed but continued to cry. Screaming at the sky for god. Some sort of higher power to intervene. The clouds crackled and a lightning bolt flew at fast speeds to the tree Nick stood under. There was a blue flash as Nick was incinerated. Where Nick stood nothing was left. The blue sparks dissipated. The from where he sat burned.
